Posts for Oct 20th: Evo Morales, Iranian universities, Taliban in South Korea, Saudi schoolgirls, Bomb in Pakistan, Hector Aleem, Indonesian Churches Attacked, Egyptian fundamentalism, Islam & Catalonia, Gadaffi in Europe

Latest posts on T&P:

  1. Iran: Bolivian President Evo Morales on trade visit to "boost trade ties". Morales, who arrived on Sunday night, is to discuss an earlier agreement on projects worth 1.1 billion dollars over the next five years, and another 287-million-dollar investment by Iran in Bolivia.
Morales’ second visit to Iran in two years was scheduled to last three days, the news network Press TV reported.
  2. Iran: Govt forbids Universities from offering "Western subjects".“Expansion of 12 disciplines in the social sciences like law, women’s studies, human rights, management, sociology, philosophy….psychology and political sciences will be reviewed,” said Abolfazl Hassani, from the education ministry. These sciences’ contents are based on Western culture. The review will be the intention of making them compatible with Islamic teachings.”
  3. South Korea: Govt fears Taliban are gaining foothold in the country. A man who was arrested when entering the country, said, during an interrogation that he was there to bomb US bases. But the problem is that the man had been entering 17 times during 5 years with a fake passport! They ask some pertinent questions, like if North Korea helped him in any stage of his endeavours.
  4. Saudi Arabia: Schoolgirls warned against wearing "tight clothes". "”The schoolgirl’s dress must be in line with Islamic tenets…it must not be transparent or sticking to the body in a way that will highlight her organs…there should not be any resemblance to the boy’s dress as our prophet (peace be upon him) had cursed men who imitate women and women who imitate men.”
  5. Spain: Conference on "Islamic feminism". "There are currents within Islamic feminism. Moderate and radical, but they all flatly refused to talk about the veil, hijab-(and banning) because, they say, “is an excuse to distract from other substantive issues.” Some carry it always, some never, some “sometimes, because it is a symbol of submission,” argues Marie Laure. But most Muslims believe that Islamic feminism is “a threat” to their traditions and religion. Women as Masuma Assad (Union of Muslim Argentinian Women) for whom Islamic feminism “is aimed at the destruction of Islam to uphold the principles of secularism in Islamic societies".”
  6. Pakistan: Bomb blast at Sufi shrine killls four. The actual death toll is 8. "Sufi worshippers, who follow a mystical strain of Islam, have increasingly been the target of bloody attacks by Islamist militants in Pakistan".
  7. Hector Aleem's trial for blasphemy: Mullahs gather outside the court. Hector Aleem is being tried in Pakistan for blasphemy against Mohammed, Islam’s prophet. On October 21st and 25th, the days of the hearings, some Mullahs were assembled in the main entrance of the court at Rawalpindi to chant slogans calling for his death and against Christianity and to shout “Allah Akbar“. His family has made some videos from a mobile phone.
  8. Indonesia: 700 churches attacked in past decade. "The violence also increases the indifference of the civil authorities and police, who shrug off the violence".
  9. Egypt: Islamic fundamentalism rising, govt suspends 12 TV channels. They were promoting religious hatred, violence and quack medicine.
  10. Spain: pro-independency Catalonian entity wants to show the "bonds that historically have existed between Islam and Catalonia". "Muslims should vote for pro-independency parties, as they rely on us to get votes. But what they do not know is that, when they let us vote, we’ll all vote for Islamic parties because we do not believe in left and right. This will make us win local councils and from there with the great powers of Catalan autonomy, Islam will begin to be implemented" (Abdelwahab Houzi, Salafist Imam, Lérida, Catalonia).
  11. Europe should convert to Islam, Gadaffi says.MUAMMAR Gaddafi sparked a backlash yesterday after calling on Europeans to convert to Islam, and demanding billions of euros to stop migration leading to a “black Europe”.

A question for all the Eurotopians...

I have a question for all those lovely people in Europe who wish to allow, no, demand that Turkey be admitted into the European Economic Disaster:

Do  you really want a nation nestled in your borders who has no problem  gassing the people living within ITS borders?  Take some time to think about it.

Especially you, Germany.

The We're-Not-Europe Party

From this op-ed at WSJ (hat tip to Hard Astarboard:
One of the constant criticisms of Barack Obama's first year is that he's making us "more like Europe." But that's hard to define and lacks broad political appeal. Until now.

Any U.S. politician purporting to run the presidency of the United States should be asked why the economic policies he or she is proposing won't take us where Europe arrived this week.

In an astounding moment, to avoid the failure of little, indulgent, profligate Greece, the European Union this week pledged nearly $1 trillion to inject green blood into Europe's economic vampires.

For Americans, this has been a two-week cram course in what not to be if you hope to have a vibrant future. What was once an unfocused criticism of Mr. Obama and the Democrats, that they are nudging America toward a European-style social-market economy, came to awful life in the panicked, stricken faces of Europe's leadership: Merkel, Sarkozy, Brown, Papandreou. They look like that because Europe has just seen the bond-market devil.

[...]

In the German legend, Faust was a scholar who sold his soul to the devil many years hence in return for a life now of intellectual brilliance and physical comfort. In our version of the legend, Europe's governments told the devil that, more than anything, they wanted a life of social protection and income fairness no matter the cost. Life was good. A fortnight ago, the bond devil arrived and asked for his money.

[...]

After Europe's abject humiliation, the chance is at hand for the Republicans to do some useful self-definition. They should make clear to the American people that the GOP is "The We're Not Europe Party." Their Democratic opposition could not attempt such a claim because they do not wish to.

[...]

A We're-Not-Europe Party would promise the American people to avoid and oppose any policy that makes us more like them and less like us.
My good friend Seth of Hard Astarboard commented:
Hmmmm, looks sorta’ like this “let’s be just like Europe” trip the lefties among us have been on for the last several years is coming back to bite them where the moon don’t shine, what with them trying to push us into the same barrel of socialism, in full view of the voting public, that’s dragging Old Europe’s collective economy down a deep, deep drain.

Good, let it bite ‘em hard and deep this November.
Now, can the GOP actually make the case so as to convince the electorate?

EU President Warns: Euro-Socialism on the Verge of Collapse

BRUSSELS (AP) – A bold $1 trillion rescue by the European Union halted the slide of the euro on Monday and sent markets soaring worldwide in a gambit that may ultimately be seen as the moment Europe truly became a union.

…EU president Van Rompuy warned that the bloc risks irrelevance and the end of its expensive welfare programs if it can’t speed up economic growth, forecast to expand by just 1 percent this year.

With 1 percent growth we can’t finance our social model any more. With 1 percent structural growth we can’t play a role in the world,” he told the World Economic Forum in Brussels. “We need to double the economic growth potential that we now have."

Europe struggles with Muslim dress code

From the Associated Press:

ANTWERP, Belgium – Chances of seeing a burqa in Belgium are only a little better than spotting a liquor shop in Saudi Arabia. Yet Belgium soon may be the first European nation to outlaw the burqa and other Islamic garb that completely hides a woman's body and face.

Let's just stop right there. That very first line is an absolute lie. There are NO liquor stores in Saudi Arabia, and yet, 6% of Belgium's population is Muslim. If I am not mistaken, that means Belgium has the second-highest Muslim population of any country in Europe (behind France, though Sweden may have a larger Muslim population than Belgium).

Fully, 1/4 of the population of Brussels is Muslim.

Now that I have given you those stats, do you really believe "chances of seeing a burqa in Belgium are only a little better than spotting a liquor shop in Saudi Arabia"?

That's what we here in the United States call BULLSHIT!

Back to the story.

Neighboring France and the Netherlands may also outlaw attire that is viewed by many in western European societies as demeaning to women. It also is considered a gateway to radical Islam, a fear that is stoking rightwing sentiment across the continent.

"There is all-party public support for this," says Leen Dierick, a conservative member of the Belgian parliament's Interior Affairs committee that unanimously backed the proposed ban March 31. The initiative is expected become law in July and would apply to all public places, including streets.

Anxieties that visible signs of Islam erode national identity are combining with complaints that immigrants are stealing jobs amid the worst economic slump in decades to deepen a sense of unease in many European countries, small and large alike, over the role of Muslims in society.

Threats against cartoonists and artists over depictions of the prophet Muhammad have also raised fears that Islam is not compatible with Western values of freedom of speech.

Swiss voters recently voted to ban the construction of new minarets. In recent years, both mosque and minaret construction projects in many European countries, including Sweden, France, Italy, Austria, Greece, Germany and Slovenia have generated protests, some of them violent.

French President Nicolas Sarkozy favors a burqa ban, saying the veils compromise women's dignity. Unlike the Belgians or the Dutch — who see a clear and straightforward public security issue — the French are struggling with the constitutionality of outlawing a religious dress code.

Until now, it has been up to city governments in Belgium to crack down on burqa-style outfits. "Enforcement by local governments has been patchy," says Dierick. "The point is public security, the need to show one's face in public. Not religious freedom."

The proposed Belgian ban partly underscores how populist politicians across Europe are making a big imprint on attitudes and policies toward immigrants and minorities, especially Muslims.

(Pastorius comment: Once again, BULLSHIT!)

Belgian lawmaker Filip Dewinter says mainstream politicians back a ban on burqa-type attire for fear of losing more ground to his far-right Flemish Interest party — a fringe factor 15 years but who today hold 17 of the 150 parliamentary seats.

"We were the first to propose a burqa ban," says Dewinter. "Now the parliament votes for a ban (drafted by a) traditional government party. Whatever! It's the outcome that counts."

Umar Mirza, a 22-year-old student and editor of the Dutch Muslim Web site "We're Staying Here" says sentiment toward Muslims and immigrants began to harden in the Netherlands 10 years ago.

(Pastorius comment: Gee, I wonder why?)

"People my age have not known anything else," he says, adding the prevailing view of Muslims "has gotten much harder and sharper and less targeted at solutions."

In the Netherlands, polls indicate that Geert Wilders' anti-Islam Freedom Party could nearly triple its presence in parliament and win 25 or so seats in June elections, up from nine today.

Wilders and like-minded supporters of the far-right hold that Muslims threaten European values by wearing head scarves and more conservative dress that fully covers body and head, such as the burqa, the chador and the niqab.

They say that liberal Europe can no longer afford to tolerate the illiberalism of newcomers.

"Islam is more of an ideology than a religion," Wilders is fond of saying. "I do not believe in a European Islam. The Islamization of the Netherlands and Western Europe will make us lose the freedoms we have today."

Numbers put growing fears of Europe becoming "Eurabia" into perspective.

Although their ranks are growing, Muslims make up only small minorities in Western Europe. France has the largest Muslim population of an estimated 5 million, or 7.5 percent of the population (PASTORIUS COMMENT - THIS IS WRONG. FRANCE'S MUSLIM POPULATION IS 10% AT THIS POINT), followed by the Netherlands with 6 percent, Germany with 5 percent, Austria with 4.2 percent, Belgium with 3 percent and Britain with 2.7 percent, according to a 2009 study of the Pew Research Center in Washington.

There is broad support in the Dutch parliament to ban face-obscuring clothing except if required by law for safety or health reasons. Talk of a ban is on hold, for now. Fewer than 500 women wear such outfits in the Netherlands, out of a population of 16.5 million.

(Pastorius comment: Oh, really. How do they know? Did they conduct a poll? This is ridiculous. I see burqas and hijab all the freaking time, and our Muslim population here in Souther California is nowhere near 6-10%. This article is full of lies.)

"Banning the burqa in Belgium is easy. The vast majority of Muslim women here don't wear one," says Maryam H'madoun, an activist in Antwerp for Muslim women's right to wear head scarves in public places.

Last year, the city of Brussels fined only 29 women — down from 33 in 2008 — for wearing a burqa-type dress, leading critics to say the regulations are an empty populist gesture. Local rules ban the burqa, but the new law would outlaw it on a national level.

In January, Denmark's center-right government called the burqa and the niqab out of step with Danish values. It held off on a ban after finding that only two or three women in Denmark (pop. 5.5 million) wear burqas and perhaps 200 wearing niqabs.

In France (pop. 65 million), the government estimates 1,900 women cover their faces with "niqabs," a scarf that exposes only the eyes, or "sitars," a filmy veiled cloth thrown over the head to cover the entire face.

France banned Muslim head scarves — as well as Jewish skullcaps and Christian crosses — from schools in 2004. President Nicolas Sarkozy says the burqa "is not welcome" in France, but the Council of State, France's highest administrative body, has served notice that an outright ban may be unconstitutional.

Politicians in Germany, Spain and Italy have toyed with banning Islamic wear, but so far to no effect.

Muslims say their Islamic dress expresses their freedom of religion.

The headscarves debate "shows we still aren't able to accept the fact that the headscarves are part of our society," says Mirza, the editor of the "We're Staying Here" Web site.

"In the UK, they even made special police uniforms for women with headscarves. That shows willingness from the government and improves participation in society of these groups."

Isabelle Praile, vice president of the Belgian Muslims Executive says while a burqa ban targets very few women "it speaks to a fear of the other who is Muslim. This is Islamophobia."

To Muslims in Europe, she said, "the economy, the cost of living and decent housing" are more pressing issues that worrying about a burqa ban.

Anti-Semitism In "Modern" Europe

Christians remove public Jewish symbol in Moldovia

You know, because we all know Europe has changed since the Holocaust.

Chisinau – Several dozens of people took part in an anti-Semitic manifestation in central Chisinau on Sunday.

The protestors who called themselves as “Orthodox Christians” said they will not let “Moldova be run by Jews.”

The participants of the protest, which took place in Chisinau’s central park, chanted anti-Semitic slogans. They ripped the Jewish symbols put up in the park last Friday on the occasion of the Jewish Hanukkah holiday. The traditional Jewish candlestick was knocked down from the plinth and thrown to the pedestal of the monument to Moldovan ruler Stefan Cel Mare.

The rally which lasted almost one hour also involved several people dressed as priests. Police did not interfere, though several patrols were keeping an eye on what happened.

Officers from the Chisinau police commissariat arrived together with representatives from the Israeli Embassy later when the manifestation was already over.

Activists from the Chisinau Jewish community were here last Friday to put up the Jewish symbols in the central park on the occasion of the Hanukkah festivities. The symbols were expected to remain their throughout the eight-day holiday period, they said.

Islamic Indoctrination on Belgian Children's TV Programming

Can you imagine any television station in the West providing this kind of opportunity for evangelism to any religion other than Islam?

The Belgians are not just surrendering, they're lubing themselves up and enjoying the rape, apparently.

From Atlas Shrugs:

Rough translation:

Bakfiets Imam (The Cargo Bicycle Imam)

Today children, we are going to talk about religion.

Question: What is Religion?

Religion. That is the worship of God. But there is just one religion which is, of course, the best. And that is Islam. And I am going to tell you about Islam. Do you have any questions? Go ahead… ask!

Question: How come you always pray to the east?

Because Mecca is in the east and therefore we pray facing the east. And also if people in other mosques start to pray from different directions they will all bump heads. (Lame Attempt at Muslim humour …a sop to the Infidels` children... after all... infidel children like humour, but once they become good Muslims, humour will be forbidden.)

Question: Is it in the east?

Yeah, it’s in the east… you have listened well. Next!

Question: And if Mecca was in the West?

Then we would pray and bow (bend) toward the West.

Question: How come you pray five times a day?

Because prayer is good for your health and your spirit, and also when you pray it is a sort of sport or exercise. Your body goes up and down. I’ll demonstrate for you. Everybody… stand up! Stand nicely beside each other. First (bend) down on your knees. Bend over and lower your head to the ground. Then raise only your head, then up on your knees… then stand up again.

Then repeat this once more. Get down on your knees. Bend your back once and lower with your head right to the ground.

Stand up, Stand up again! See! That is sport. Now… everyone sit!

Now- I hope everyone…

All: Allah Willing

That you will grow up…

All: Allah Willing

In a free world…

All: Allah Willing

That you will become Muslims…

All: Allah Willing

In Good Times…

All: Allah Willing

In Bad Times…

All: Allah Willing

And in Freedom…

All: Allah Willing

Shall you all live!

All: Allah Willing

Amen.

Honor Killing in Germany

from Her Royal Whyness:

Earth Times --

Afghan man held over murder 'in the name of the Koran'
Posted : Tue, 21 Jul 2009 14:59:39 GMT
Author : DPA

Munich -- - Munich police are questioning a 27-year-old Afghan man suspected of stabbing his former wife to death "in the name of the Koran," police sources said Tuesday. A Munich police spokesman said the 24-old Afghan woman Nesima R., whose full name was withheld for legal reasons, had been stabbed some 20 times, and that the suspect had given the Koran as a justification for the attack.

The woman received stab wounds to the heart and died Monday in hospital.

The pair are believed to have been married while in Afghanistan, although when Zafar, a 27-year-old unemployed painter, came to Germany in 2008, he found the woman in a new relationship with a cousin.

Police think that the former couple, who have a daughter, may themselves have been cousins.
The 3-year-old daughter was an eyewitness to the stabbing, which took place early on Monday morning. A niece of the victim also saw the attack, which occurred outside her apartment.

The spokesman said police were investigating the "very complex kinship relations" surrounding the case, and suspected it to be a so- called "honour killing."

Honour killing is the term used to describe a murder carried out with the defence of the perceived honour of a family or ethnic group as a motive.

In February, an Afghan man was sentenced to life in prison in the northern city of Hamburg for killing his sister in what prosecutors said was an honour killing.

The judge in that case rejected the honour killing explanation, saying that the family had simply been dysfunctional.

It is not clear in the Munich crime what role other motives, such as jealousy, may have played.

Honour killing has become a sensitive political topic in Germany, with immigrant communities, especially Muslims, accused of importing a barbaric judicial custom.

Terre Des Femmes, a women's rights group, estimates that some 50 women have been killed in
Germany in the past 10 years for reasons of supposed honour.

Ireland Passes Blasphemy Law

From this item at The International Free Press Society, citing this article from the Philadelphia Atheism Examiner:
On Friday July 11th, 2009, Ireland passed the Defamation Bill by one vote. One of the aspects of this bill would make it illegal to criticize religion… any religion under penalty of fines up to 25,000 Euros. That is the equivalent to nearly $35,000.
An excerpt from the blasphemy clause:
Section 36

(1) A person who publishes or utters blasphemous matter shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable upon conviction on indictment to a fine not exceeding €100,000. [Amended to €25,000]

(2) For the purposes of this section, a person publishes or utters blasphemous matter if (a) he or she publishes or utters matter that is grossly abusive or insulting in relation to matters held sacred by any religion, thereby causing outrage among a substantial number of the adherents of that religion, and (b) he or she intends, by the publication or utterance of the matter concerned, to cause such outrage.
Interpretation of the above legalese:
This part of the bill makes it illegal to criticize any religion either verbally or in writing. Saying anything in which a “substantial number” of followers might find offensive would now be a crime in the Ireland. But the bill goes even further....
Read the rest. Books critical of any religion can be confiscated by the police! See Section 37 of the law.

If I lived in Ireland, one entire portion of my home library would be seized, I guess. I'm referring, of course, to all my books which insult Islam.

Not to mention what's on my computers.

The Irish police are going to be chasing their own tails on this one.

Violence Spreading Across Europe?

From Fox News, on December 11, 2008:
Greek-Inspired Violence Spreads Across Europe

Unrest that has gripped Greece for the past six days showed troubling signs of spreading across Europe, as violence erupted in several cities.

Angry youths smashed shop windows, attacked banks and hurled bottles at police in small but violent protests Thursday in Spain and Denmark, while cars were set alight outside a consulate in France. Protesters gathered in front of the Greek Embassy in Rome on Wednesday and some turned violent, damaging police vehicles, overturning a car and setting a trash can on fire.

Authorities say the incidents have been isolated so far, but acknowledge concern that the Greek riots — which started over the police killing of a 15-year-old on Saturday — could be a trigger for anti-globalization groups and others outraged by economic turmoil and a lack of job opportunities.

"What's happening in Greece tends to prove that the extreme left exists, contrary to doubts of some over these past few weeks," French Interior Ministry spokesman Gerard Gachet [said]...

Are we seeing the early signs of a snowballing anarchy in Europe?

Europe May Be Waking Up

From an article in USA Today:

• Supporters of the Swiss referendum collected enough signatures two weeks ago to call for a constitutional ban on minarets, the towers used to call worshipers to prayer. No date has been set for the vote.

• Italy's Interior Minister Roberto Maroni announced this month that he wants to close a Milan mosque because crowds attending Friday prayers spill onto the street and irritate neighbors. In April, the city of Bologna scrapped plans for a new mosque, saying Muslim leaders failed to meet certain requirements, including making public its source of funding.

• In Austria, the southern province of Carinthia passed a law in February that effectively bans the construction of mosques by requiring them to fit within the overall look and harmony of villages and towns.

• Far-right leaders from 15 European cities met in Antwerp, Belgium, in January and called for a ban on new mosques and a halt to "the Islamization" of European cities. The group said mosques act as catalysts for taking over neighborhoods and imposing Islamic ways of life on Europeans.

"We already have more than 6,000 mosques in Europe, which are not only a place to worship but also a symbol of radicalization, some financed by extreme groups in Saudi Arabia or Iran," Filip Dewinter, leader of a Flemish separatist party in Belgium, told Radio Netherlands Worldwide at the conference.

AUSTRIA'S RIGHT

The media calls any party who rejects immigration as "neo-nazi". Nowhere in the column, however, do we get any description of a vicious neo-nazi platform. What I am reading is the logical reaction a culture has when trying to react against the cultural relativists who ask for culturcide. These are men and women who understand the culture war against, in particular, Islam.

Charging To The Right

Austria's far-right parties may have modulated their tone, but their message is increasingly familiar.
By Rod Nordland | NEWSWEEK
Published Oct 4, 2008
From the magazine issue dated Oct 13, 2008

Throughout Europe, the far-right parties have been largely banished, consigned to the dustbin of history. In France, the National Front is at its lowest ebb in years. In Germany, extreme-right-wing parties are marginalized and irrelevant in national politics. But in Austria, the far right is resurgent again. Last week two far-right parties—both stridently anti-EU, anti-United States and anti-immigrant—became the strongest such force in Europe, after national elections there gave them arguably the biggest share of the vote ever won by rightists in modern Western Europe.

Together they tallied 29 percent, only 30,000 votes behind the leading party, the center-left Social Democrats. SIEG ... was the pointed headline on the Austrian newsmagazine Profil, over a picture of the two right-wing leaders, newcomer Heinz-Christian Strache and Jörg Haidar, the longtime rightist politician. "Internationally, Austria is 'Naziland' yet again," said Die Presse in Vienna. And perhaps domestically as well, with the very real possibility that Austria's mainstream parties will be unable to form a government without turning to parties that directly or indirectly descended from the Austrian Nazi Party.

Europe: US Out, Muslims and Russia In

After over 50 years spent pacifying the warring tribes of Europe, the US 7th Army is making itself a deployable unit--ready to go anywhere in the world. Europe will be left to defend itself, if it deigns to do so.
After spending over half a century years in Europe, the headquarters of the U.S. 7th Army headquarters is reorganizing as a deployable unit (meaning it can be ordered to another part of the world to supervise major military operations.)....During the Cold War, there were over 300,000 U.S. troops in Western Europe, now it's about 40,000, and headed for 33,000 in five years. And if there's a crises somewhere else on the planet, there won't even be an army headquarters there to command what's left of American forces. _StrategyPage
Just as Tsar Vladimir of Russia is testing his neo-imperialist ambitions, too! It should prove fascinating to watch how the EU manages this new threat on its eastern borders.
Some EU members believe that more consideration should be given to Russia's special circumstances as a former superpower still adjusting to the loss of a contiguous empire, arguing that the West should exercise caution in its activities in Russia's neighborhood, including offering premature prospects for joining an alliance that does not include Russia. _tagesspiegel
Yes, Russia certainly suffers from special circumstances. Very much like the bratty three year old child whose only behavioural strategy is a temper tantrum. "Such a very special child, you simply must try harder to understand him!"

What the Russians do not extort, the burgeoning host of Euro-Muslims will happily expropriate.

Lacking any credible form of self-defense, Europe is reduced to appeasement as its foremost strategy toward a newly belligerent Russia. There is a term to describe such behaviour: surrender monkey. A state of mind where surrender and appeasement are the policy of first, intermediate, and last resort.

Europe has been allowed to take a 50-something year vacation from history, thanks to its despised trans-Atlantic multiple rescuer and enabler. Now, Europe: demographically shrinking, culturally crumbling, indefensible shirker. Who will come to your aid should the signs turn ominous beyond all denial?

Iran changes dollar for euro or yen in Oil Exports

This is something Ahmadenijad had already announced some months ago, but now it's being formally announced:
"All the oil operations are being made in euros or in yens" Hojjatollah Ghanimifard has explained. Ghanimifard is the director of foreign relations of the Iranian National Oil Company. Iran finishes this way its process of reducing its exposition to the dollar, after the tensions between Teheran and Wasington because of the nuclear crisis. In fact, last december an Iranian Government speaker informed already that 90% of the revenues obtained by the oil exports weren't made in dollars.
Ahmadenijad said this was because the "dollar is no more than a worthless piece of paper", but surely the confrontation due to the Iranian "pacific"
nuclear project has something to do with it.

Anti-Semitism is on the Rise in Europe (videos)

(Hat tip: Democracy Broadcasting News)

Anti-Semitism is on the rise worldwide, but its especially noticeable in Europe. There is a definite connection between hatred of Israel and hatred of Jews in general-- both inflammed by media coverage that is strongly biased against Israel.
The EU says Muslims are responsible for half of all attacks on Jews in Europe...

"The French are using the Muslims, allowing the Muslims, to express this vicious and violent, murderous Jews hatred, and they get a free ride on their old fashioned anti-Semitism," Poller said.

"The whole Lebanon war was shown from the Hezbollah point of view. Israel was the villain. And Hezbollah were the innocents who were suffering. So all the Muslims in France got another dose of Jew hatred."

And when Israel invaded Lebanon in 2006, anti-Semitic violence in Europe surged...

A senior Dutch politician told me a few months ago, "Look, the Jews have to understand that in the Netherlands, they have no future," he said.
