Quotation Of The Day

Unless you've been living under a rock, you have heard at least a portion of Obama's most recent statement on immigration.

From Keith Koffler of White House Dossier:

It’s actually not Congress’ “job” to pass immigration legislation. It is their job to pass bills they think will help the country, and that doesn’t necessarily include legislation Obama wants or that he can alter to his liking after passage, as he has, for example, the Affordable Care Act.

If we read the Constitution, we see that it is one of the tasks of Congress to rein in the executive branch of government — not to fulfill the agenda of the President in the Oval Office. Obama's talk of obstruction is whining, a demagogue's words not in keeping with the spirit and intent of our governing document.

Housing UAC's

UAC's is the government term for Unaccommpanied Alien Children.

Where to house them?

From Fox News:
Feds to house, feed illegal aliens in Border Patrol Academy

The federal government has found a place in New Mexico to help house the tide of humanity pouring in from Mexico: The Border Patrol Academy, the very facility where agents are supposed to be trained to keep illegal immigrants out of the U.S.

Tens of thousands of immigrants have crossed in through Mexico primarily from Central America, where they appear to have been led to believe that once in the U.S., they will be allowed to stay. The government is scrambling to accommodate them, but some critics say putting them up in the academy turns government policy on its head.

Washington Post Reports On Unaccompanied Alien Children

Go to the link below to watch the video obtained by the WaPo.

Full article from the Washington Post (dated June 12, 2014):
MCALLEN, Tex. — Behind the beige brick facade and the barbed wire of the Border Patrol station here, crowds of Central American women and children are sleeping on concrete floors in 90-degree heat.

The sick are separated by flimsy strips of yellow police tape from the crying babies and expectant mothers. They subsist on bologna sandwiches and tacos, with portable toilets and no showers, and their wait can last for days.

These are examples of the detention conditions, captured on a surreptitious video obtained by The Washington Post, that prompted President Obama to declare a “humanitarian crisis” this week, as illegal migrants, including thousands of women and children, stream into south Texas. Every day, hundreds of Central American migrants, in groups as large as 250 people, are wading across the muddy Rio Grande and turning themselves in to the Border Patrol as helicopters and speedboats with mounted machine guns patrol the river.

Fleeing gang violence and poverty, and driven in part by the belief that Central American women and children will not be deported, many of the migrants are not trying to sneak into the country but are crossing in plain sight.

The spike in numbers over the past three months, particularly of children traveling without their parents, has overwhelmed the Border Patrol’s detention centers in South Texas, prompting authorities to ship young children to converted warehouses and military bases as far away as California. Obama has pledged $2 billion to construct temporary housing and has ordered the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to take charge.

In the past eight months, Customs and Border Protection has detained 47,000 unaccompanied minors, most of them in the Rio Grande Valley area of South Texas, up 92 percent from the same period in the previous fiscal year.

“We’re fighting a losing battle right now,” said Chris Cabrera, the Border Patrol’s union representative here. “We don’t have anywhere to hold them.”

Across the river in the drug cartel-run Mexican border town of Reynosa, migrants from Honduras, El Salvador and Guatemala sleep on bunk-beds in church-run shelters, as they prepare for the culmination of dangerous journeys by bus and train that have often taken them weeks to finish.

Fany Yaneth, 25, a single mother of four, hitchhiked for three weeks. Tuesday, she waited in a sliver of shade in a shelter courtyard with dozens of others. In her violent home town of Choluteca, Honduras, where she milled flour and shared her mother’s apartment with three families, “you can’t walk in the streets,” she said. “They’ll kill anyone.”

The next morning, she said, she would be taking her 7-year-old daughter and her 17-year-old brother and presenting herself to the Border Patrol.

“What we’re hearing is that the Americans are helping Hondurans right now. And even more for women and children. I don’t know if it’s true,” she said. “This is what I want to do. I’m going to arrive at the bridge, to walk up to American immigration and hold out my hand.”

Unlike illegal migrants from Mexico, who can be quickly processed and returned by bus to Mexican border cities, Central Americans cannot be easily shipped home. Airplanes must be chartered. Consular arrangements must be made. And if migrants request asylum in the United States, the U.S. government has the additional responsibility to determine whether their appeal is based on a legitimate need for protection and a “credible fear” of persecution in their home countries.

More than 36,000 migrants, the majority from Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras, requested asylum along the southwestern border during the government’s 2013 fiscal year, nearly triple the 2012 number. Ultimately, most of the applications were denied, but critics of the process say migrants are gaming the system to extend their stays in the United States. Others may simply go underground and ignore deportation orders if their petitions are rejected.

“I guess when you advertise $2 billion of assistance to help out the cause, it’s an open invitation for anybody to come across,” said Lazaro “Larry” Gallardo Jr., a constable in Hidalgo County, as he stood along the Rio Grande riverbank.

His deputies said they were picking up children as young as 4 without their parents and other children with Hello Kitty backpacks, cellphones and the telephone numbers of U.S. relatives on note cards.

The cellphone video obtained by The Washington Post shows dozens of women and children sprawled on concrete floors. According to a person who provided the video and has first-hand knowledge of the facility, the migrants wait for days, sometimes more than a week. A makeshift quarantine for detainees with scabies is cordoned off with strips of yellow tape. Another separates those with chicken pox.

Immigrant advocacy organizations and human rights groups filed an administrative complaint this week on behalf of more than 100 children who say they were denied proper care and physically abused in U.S. government custody. The children were subjected to racial insults, deprived of diapers and other necessities, and held in squalid detention facilities for extended periods, the complaint alleges.

Asked about the living conditions for migrants in the Border Patrol stations, Customs and Border Protection spokesman Michael Friel said his agency is “ensuring nutritional and hygienic needs are met.” The children receive “meals regularly and have access to drinks and snacks throughout the day,” he said, adding that there is medical care and that “facilities include toilets.”

In a statement, Friel said the Border Patrol does “everything within its power” to process the children within 72 hours and transfer them to the Department of Health and Human Services, as required by law.

The video, whose contents were confirmed by Border Patrol agents, offers an up-close look at the daunting challenges facing FEMA, which has been tasked with coordinating a response to the crisis.

The McAllen Border Patrol station, where the video was recorded, has received as many as 1,300 migrants per day recently, far exceeding its capacity of fewer than 500. The crowding has forced Border Patrol officials to use the secure garage area, or sally port, where passenger buses are typically unloaded, as a detention area.

In holding cells with one toilet, there are sometimes as many as 100 people, “covering every inch of floor-space,” said one agent. Border Patrol officials here declined to make the facility available to Post reporters.

The flood of new arrivals has so overwhelmed border facilities that U.S. immigration officials have been flying families to cities in Arizona, where the illegal migrants are released and instructed to return for a court appearance. Hundreds of children are being held at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, as well as at Naval Base Ventura County in California and Fort Sill in Oklahoma. They are also being sheltered in a converted warehouse in Nogales, Ariz. FEMA plans to repurpose another warehouse in McAllen to house the children, according to local agents.

On Monday, Roger Omar Garcia Chavez, 29, a Honduran at a shelter in Reynosa, said he had sent his wife and 2-year-old daughter across the river four days earlier and planned to sneak across himself and meet up with them in Houston.

“Women with children are going north,” he said. “What I’m sure of is that pregnant women and children are being allowed in.”

At the shelter the next day, he was gone.

Is Obama Effecting a Population Transfer on the Level of the 17th Century Slave Trade?

In the 17th Century, approximately 600,000 Africans were brought to America. That is a massive Population Transfer, in the service of evil intent.

If hundreds of thousands of children are coming across the border, apparently, pushed by the adults in their life to drive a stake of citizenship into American soil for the whole family,

and if these children are doing this because of Obama's public statements and policy,

then is this not a sort of Population Transfer?

We have gotten used to thinking of a Population Transfer as something that happens when a nation, unhappy with a portion of it's population, attempts to ethnically cleanse those people, move them out of the territory of the state.

But, if a leader decides it is in his interest to effect a large transfer of people into his nation for political reasons, and against the will of the people, is this not, also, a Population Transfer with evil intent.

And, if there is no effective plan for how to take care of these children, neither on the side of the people who sent them, nor on our side, then is this not a true humanitarian crisis.

And, again, if this is the direct result of Obama's policies and statements, then is this not a humanitarian crisis created by Obama?

Barack Obama very purposively caused this humanitarian crisis, and he did so for political purposes.

This means he is using these children as pawns, chattel, political slaves to further his own vision.

BREWER TO OBAMA: STOP THE UNCONSCIONABLE DUMPING OF ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS IN ARIZONA CITIES
Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer is urging President Obama to put a stop to the "dangerous and unconscionable" practice of shipping illegal immigrants out of Texas and dumping them in her state.
After reports first surfaced last week that scores of illegal immigrants in Texas were being flown, bused and then abandoned out of state in Arizona and elsewhere, Brewer sent a scathing letter to the president posing a string of questions about the policy.
Urging the president ultimately to end the program, Brewer complained her administration was never notified by the federal government and only learned about the practice from the media.
But illegal immigrant traffic from Central America is rising once again.
According to one estimate, the number of unaccompanied children caught on the southern border has exploded -- from 6,500 in 2011 to an estimated 90,000 this year, and nearly 150,000 projected for next year.

LAWMAKERS FAULT OBAMA POLICIES FOR "CALAMITY" IN BORDER STATES
The flood of illegal immigrants -- particularly children -- crossing into the U.S. along the southern border is at a "crisis" level, creating a humanitarian emergency that both immigration officials and lawmakers are putting at the feet of the Obama administration.
Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer called the overload a "crisis of the federal government's creation."
Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Ala., who for years has been warning that the administration's easing of immigration enforcement would create a crisis along the border, said:
"President Obama is responsible for this calamity."

Surge in Immigrants at Border Blamed on Policy
The surge in illegal immigrants jumping the U.S. border in recent weeks is almost entirely due to U.S. policy, according to an internal Border Patrol intelligence memo that says the immigrants are taking advantage of the catch-and-release system of enforcement.
The immigrants come seeking “permisos,” which apparently are the “Notices to appear” or NTAs, the legal documents given to non-Mexicans caught at the border that officially put them in deportation proceedings — but that also grant them at least a temporary entry to the interior of the U.S.
According to the memo, which was viewed by The Washington Times and mentioned at a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing Wednesday, agents interviewed more than 200 non-Mexican immigrants on May 28, and 95 percent of them said they came because they’d heard they could get a “permiso,” or “free pass.”
“This information is apparently common knowledge in Central America and is spread by word of mouth, and international and local media,” the memo reads.
“A high percentage of the subjects interviewed stated their family members in the U.S. urged them to travel immediately, because the United States government was only issuing immigration ‘permisos’ until the end of June 2014."
That's a lot, but not nearly as much as it is going to cost.

Saberpoint on the Population Transfer and it's implications for what citizens must do about their leadership:
The lawlessness of Barack Obama is breathtaking in its scope. Recently, Americans were shocked at the brazen illegality of his release of Taliban Muslim terrorists from Gitmo, or his heavy-handed use of the EPA to shut down coal plants.
This week we are seeing the greatest influx ever of illegals from Mexico, overwhelming state and federal agencies who must house them, feed them and deport them -- if they can even be deported.
Obama has basically stated, in deed if not in words, that the border is open, and our immigration laws will not be enforced. Instead of deporting the illegals, they are being put up at taxpayer costs in temporary housing at three military bases.
Two hundred thirty-thousand children are expected to be apprehended after crossing the border in the next two years, and those who avoid capture will number in the tens of thousands.
Obama and Holder have promised to provide these children with lawyers to represent them, so they can sue to stay in the country. Investors Business Daily reports that "this whole crisis is of the administration's making.
Its Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program two years ago prevented minors' deportation for two years, and now Obama has added two more years." Children are invading the border because they know they will not be deported -- Obama has said so.
There are reports that the federal government has been flying families from South Texas to Arizona and El Paso, Texas, and releasing them at bus stations! Are they supposed to deport themselves on the honor system?
What kind of insanity is this? I have to wonder what motivates this radical, Barack Obama? Does he realize that his presidency is a disaster, that he will be enshrined in the Hall of the Incompetent along side Jimmy Carter, Zachary Taylor and Millard Fillmore?
Perhaps it is the knowledge of his own failure that inspires him to take revenge on those who have opposed him, like Governor Jan Brewer of Arizona, by dumping illegals in her state, instead of deporting them back to Mexico.
Maybe Obama realizes that he has only two more years to impose his radical doctrines on the nation, and has decided to push the envelope.
GO READ THE WHOLE THING.

Bob Beckel: Stop Building Mosques In America

Bob Beckel started making politically incorrect statements about Islam shortly at the jihad attack on the 2013 Boston Marathon. Could it be that Beckel personally knows someone maimed during that jihad attack?

From Right Scoop:
...In a segment on Boko Haram burning school children alive over the weekend in Nigeria, Beckel called Muslim clerics everywhere cowards for not speaking out against such horrors and said America needs to stop building mosques until we can determine who the terrorist really are.

Immigration Reform: Who Will Secure The Border?

(hat tip to Randy's Roundtable):

Pertinent quotation from the video:
...“The question of border security is now tangled up with the IRS and the Justice Department and the general, pervasive distrust of the executive branch,” he explained. “Because what the bill says is, ‘The executive branch will certify if the border is secure.’ I don’t believe that the Republicans in Congress are going to take that.”

“They’re going to vote for a bill — or against a bill — whether or not it has ‘Congress shall certify,’ not the executive branch, because no one trusts the executive branch anymore.”
What is the Obama administration's record on filling positions to oversee programs?

In my view, immigration reform is a MUST. But how will any program of immigration reform be managed by an administration that is negligent about managing ANYTHING other than putting America on the road to serfdom?

ObamaCare And Immigration

Ugh:
Governors who reject health insurance for the poor under the federal health care overhaul could wind up in a politically awkward position on immigration: A quirk in the law means some U.S. citizens would be forced to go without coverage, while legal immigrants residing in the same state could still get it....

Salute the Culturist Generation Identitaire

In the long run, this late-mid October 2012 week might get memorialized as an important one in culturist history. Not for the American Presidential debates.  But because “Generation Identity,” (‘Identitare” in French), occupied, in the popular American vernacular, a mosque and demanded a public referendum on ending Islamic immigration and mosque construction.   This group scored on rhetoric; and they understand history.  An involving, public form of peaceful, culturist action, led by a new generation, has emerged.

The French Generation Identity movement is grounded in culturist historical basics; from the roof of the Poitiers mosque, in honor of October 25th, they hung a banner reading, “732 Generation Identitaire.”  The Muslims actually built the mosque to revenge the French Hero, Ancestor, and warrior, Charles Martel defeating the Muslims there and then.   The significance of this battle cannot be overstated.  Charles Martel’s victory over Islam likely prevented a repetition in France of the 700-year take over of Spain by the same Muslim forces.

Culturists have history on their side and use it. The history of animosity and bloody battle between the West and Islam has not stopped.  Multiculturalists remove this historical angle and so project the relatively peaceful present back into the past and indefinitely into the future.  But, history and current geo-political activity show inter-civilizational conflict continuing.  In celebrating Charles’ Martel’s 732 battle, Generation Identity shows acute culturist historical awareness.

The word “Identity” in the name of Generation Identity refers, I argue, to culture.  Generation Identity begs their culturally French brethren to keep the region’s traditional majority culture from the aggression of a historically hostile culture.  As the West paradoxically makes individualism the root of our cultural commonality, our national culture groups collectively have trouble separating the individual identity tree from the cultural forest. We tend to see identity individually. But, Generation Identity’s highlighting their national history points collective cultural identity being their group name’s referent.

Cognitive dissonance happens when one can choose between an uncomfortable fact and changing your actions.  People would rather change their assessments of situations than face a challenging reality.  The older generation cowers at discussing the hard truth of Islam in the West.  The new generation has no comfortable fear abeyance mechanism, denial, or employment, making its generation accommodate and pretend to its doom.  As our forefathers did with the decline of religion, this generation can and must outstare this void with their eyes wide open.

Culturists in other western nations, such as the British National Culturists, constitute new generational stances based on a fresh and clear interpretation of history. We western bretheren recognize common words in “Identitaire” and “Identity.” We agree with your statements against multiculturalists and globalists. When our separate nations band, western culturism stands stronger. In this spirit we salute your culturist hero Martel. And we culturists in America, England and elsewhere in the western world admire and salute you, Generation Identity, for your historic culturist initiative.

Explosive Censored Presidential Debate Footage Found!

Most people thought the Presidential debates a great success.  Those on the right celebrated Mitt Romney’s victory.  And, those on the left praised the substantive nature of the debate.  But, I found the debate suspicious and disturbing.
Was it really possible that, in the sole debate entirely dedicated to domestic policy, the topic of immigration did not come up once?  Is that possible?  I thought not. And, so I began a search, at my place of employment, for the censored debate footage that I suspected existed.
I mean, this debate focused on jobs.  And the presence of over 15 million illegal aliens means that a very significant number of Americans have been displaced from the job market.  Though he would never say so, President Obama should be especially for reducing immigration, since Latino immigrants largely take African – Americans’ entry-level jobs.
And, maybe it is just me, but I thought terrorism would be mentioned in the domestic policy debate.  After the Fort Hood terrorist attach and our freedom of speech being denounced this 9/11, I thought domestic terror policy and Islamic immigration might have come up once.  This total omission did not make sense to me either.
Remarkably, It only took me a day of snooping around after work to find the missing footage.  I am not sure if it got spliced out from the original debate or if the networks simply aired a different debate than the one that happened.  But, the authorities clearly thought that the censored footage I found was far too explosive for the general public.
In the missing footage, Romney starts off by saying he wishes to fence off our border with Mexico.  He also says that he would also halt Islamic immigration.  Obama repeatedly calls this racist.  And, Romney shows himself a patriot by not relenting.  But, I need not describe this footage any further, as you can watch it for yourself, here:

When you are done watching this censored footage, please distribute it.  Repost this introduction.  It is imperative that Americans know of this horrific and unprecedented censorship.  If enough people learn of this unforgivable manipulation, perhaps in future debates the authorities discussion of the vital topics of immigration and the threat of Islamic jihad to be aired.

Woman Whose Son Was Killed By Illegal Alien Drunk Driver Slapped With Bill To Clean His Blood From Street

From WYFF Channel Four:

GREENVILLE, S.C. - A drunken driver killed an Upstate women’s son last year, and if the grief wasn’t enough, she’s had to deal with bills associated with the wreck, even for the cost of cleaning up her son’s blood.
A coroner called Loretta Robinson last June and told her that her oldest son, Justin Walker, died when his car was struck by a drunken driver on White Horse Road. “I never would have imagined getting that call,” she said. “Never in one million years expected that.”
Robinson looked Anna Gonzalez, the accused driver, in the eye in court Tuesday as Gonzalez pleaded guilty.
The grieving mother then showed the judge the many bills she’s had to pay, even though her son was not at fault.
Robinson said she paid to have the wrecked car stored for months, in case there was a trial.
“I had to pay to have the vehicle towed,” she said. “I had to pay for the vehicle removed and to clean up the street from Justin’s blood on the ground.”
Robinson said that was the bill that stung the most – paying $50 to have the street cleaned.

France: Conference about "Immigration, Islamism: Is France Threatened?" Cancelled

The Union for a Popular Movement (UMP), the political party of French President Nicolas Sarkozy, was forced on Tuesday to cancel a public debate organized in its headquarters, amid concerns that the debate would spark new accusations of racism and discrimination.
Titled “Immigration, Islamism: Is France Threatened?,” the controversial debate did not come at a good time for UMP, which is now presenting a new bill on immigration in the Assemblee Nationale (National Assembly), the lower house of French bicameral Parliament.
We have chosen this time to really participate in Parliament discussions on future immigration law, as they are starting this week and will be at full intensity on that day,” explained the Droite Libre (Free Right), the UMP-associated group that organized the meeting.
These issues are a concern to our fellow citizens, yet they almost never have a chance to discuss them; those who dare to mention immigration and Islam are framed by the intellectual terror of ‘political correctness.’”

Clinton: Obama Administration to Sue Arizona Over Immigration Law

According to CBS, U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton says that the Obama administration has already decided to file suit against the state of Arizona over their decision to enforce federal immigration law by requiring immigrants in that state to carry documentation of their status.

Apparently, Obummah objects to states enforcing federal immigration law via their own legislation because "the federal government should be determining immigration policy".

Just follow the white rabbit, folks. Tea will be served. And a very happy unbirthday to all.

Hillary Clinton Says White House Will Sue Over Arizona Immigration Law
Updated 4:59 p.m. Eastern Time

According to President Obama and Attorney General Eric Holder, the Justice Department is currently in the process of deciding whether or not to file suit over Arizona's controversial immigration law, which Mr. Obama has called "misguided" and potentially discriminatory.

According to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, however, the decision has already been made.
"President Obama has spoken out against the law because he thinks that the federal government should be determining immigration policy," she said in an interview with an Ecuadorean television station flagged by The Right Scoop. "And the Justice Department, under his direction, will be bringing a lawsuit against the act."

The Arizona law, which would go into effect in July, requires immigrants in the state to carry documents verifying their immigration status and requires police officers to question a person about his or her immigration status during a "lawful stop" if there is "reasonable suspicion" that person may be in the country illegally.

Holder has indicated that he believes "the law is an unfortunate one that will be subject to potential abuse" and said that the Justice Department is "considering a court challenge."

It is not clear whether Clinton was just making a prediction or whether she was getting ahead of a planned announcement by the administration. The Justice Department said today it is continuing to review the law.

Riot breaks out in downtown Santa Cruz; windows broken on dozens of businesses, porch of cafe set on fire
By Alia Wilson
Posted: 05/02/2010 01:45:50 AM PDT
Updated: 05/02/2010 12:13:27 PM PDT

SANTA CRUZ - A large group of protesters demonstrating at a May Day rally for worker's and immigrant rights downtown broke off into a riot vandalizing about a dozen businesses around 10:30 p.m. Saturday, police said.

Many in the group were carrying makeshift torches as they marched, breaking storefront windows and writing "anarchist graffiti" on buildings, according to Capt. Steve Clark. Many businesses sustained multiple broken windows including very large storefront windows at Urban Outfitters and The Rittenhouse building. Police believe at least 15 businesses suffered damage.
The violence was initiated from a group holding a rally at the town clock for May Day. Windows at Jamba Juice and Velvet Underground were left shattered and graffiti including anarchy signs were tagged onto buildings.

Because of the size and violent demeanor of the crowd, Santa Cruz police asked for help from all agencies in the county to break up the riot. At one point, protesters lit a fire on the porch of Caffe Pergolesi and blocked access to firefighters, officers said. Police were able to clear out the demonstrators before more damage was caused.

A large rock sat outside Verizon Wireless on the 100 block of Cooper Street, where vandals tried to break the window twice, according to Clark.

"The damage that was caused was without purpose," Clark said. "It was senseless violence that victimized a community who cannot afford to be victimized in this manner. This did nothing
to add credit to whatever they believed their cause was."

One person, 24-year-old Jimi Haynes, a transient from Fresno County, was arrested for felony vandalism for damaging a window. Haynes is also wanted on a parole violation, Clark said. Police are searching for others responsible for the damage. Protesters cleared the downtown area around midnight.

"Our entire team of investigators are processing the scene of violence for evidence," Clark said. "We will be looking at video available to try to ID who's responsible."

Haynes was observed traveling with this group and breaking windows at the Dell Williams Jewelry store. Haynes broke two large display windows in the front of the store. The witnesses followed him and called police. Haynes was located by arriving Watsonville PD officers who detained Haynes, Clark said.

Haynes is on parole out of Fresno County for burglary. He has been in Santa Cruz for the past several weeks where he has established an arrest history, Clark said. Haynes admitted to participating in the rally after receiving a flyer at a local anarchist café. Haynes was booked into Santa Cruz County Jail.

Once order was restored, police detectives worked throughout the night to collect evidence and document the damage to each of the businesses, Clark said. The police department guarded exposed storefronts, and arranged for private security to watch the businesses until windows could be boarded, and responsible persons contacted.

The police department encourages anyone with information (include any photos or video footage) to make contact and report the information. The police department will be working to identify and prosecute additional individuals involved in the march and subsequent violence.
Police ask anyone with information about the incident to contact the investigations department at 420-5820.

Vandals destroy downtown Asheville storefronts, car windows
By Mike McWilliams, Jason McGill and Thomas Fraser • May 2, 2010

ASHEVILLE — Most of those arrested for a rash of vandalism Saturday night in downtown Asheville listed addresses in Eastern North Carolina and out of state, according to arrest warrants.

Only two listed an Asheville address. At least five of the suspects appear to be students at colleges and universities. The suspects ages ranged from 17-26.

All but one of the 11 suspects arrested were each charged with seven counts of misdemeanor injury to personal property and three counts of injury to real property. Each was being held under $10,000 bond. One man was charged with 11 counts and had an $11,000 bond. All are scheduled to appear in court on the charges Monday morning.

Those charged include:
- Randall Duncan Stezer, 17, of Graham, N.C.
- Wyatt Sherman Allgeier, 19, of Mount Pleasant, N.C.
- Karen Leigh Alderser, 19, of Carrboro.
-Alissa Marie Batzold, 18, of Carrboro.
-Havely Carolyn Carsky, 23, of Meadow Lake Road, Asheville.
-Nicholas Ryan Entwistle, 19, of Kansas City, Mo.
-Naomi Rachel Ullian, 26, of West Chestnut St., Asheville.
-Marshall Rogers Tingler, 24, of Oklahoma City, Okla.
- Daniel Heinz Regenfcheit, 26, of Carrboro.
-Cailin Elizabeth Major, 25, of Milwaukee, Wis.
-Jordan M. Ferrand-Sapsis, 24, of Oklahoma City, Okla.

Carsky is listed as a senior biology student at UNCA, according to the school directory. Allgeier is a sophomore studying women’s studies and art in Chapel Hill, the student directory shows. Stezer attends Alamance Community College in Graham, and Ullian goes to Goddard College in Plainfield, Vt., arrest warrants show.

About 10:45 p.m. Saturday, a group of between 20-30 people wearing dark clothing, some wearing masks and carrying backpacks, threw items, including newspaper boxes, through windows of several businesses along O'Henry Avenue. A front window of the Asheville Citizen-Times was shattered, as were multiple storefronts at the Grove Arcade. An ATM was smashed at the RBC on O'Henry.

Multiple cars parked on Battery Park had their windows smashed.

The violence is likely linked to the observance of May Day, a day for marking worker solidarity that has been seized upon for anti-capitalism displays of violence, especially by self-proclaimed anarchist groups in Europe.

Several in the group yelled unintelligably as they vandalized. The group walked south on O'Henry Avenue and turned left on Battery Park Avenue. Some walked through the alley beside the Citizen-Times, where several employees of the paper had rushed to ensure the safety of their cars.

Carmel's chef Mary Scherger said she was having a shift drink at the Page Avenue restaurant when she saw the group smash out a window on a BMW parked along Battery Park Avenue.

"That's when I yelled for my manager to come out," she said.

Scherger said she saw some of them run toward Haywood Street and a few run up the stairwell from Wall Street parking garage ditching their garb as police moved in.

Scherger said she recalled a similar act of group vandalism last year, but the group did far less damage.

Diana Kostigen, of Hendersonville, was visiting downtown with a friend from Charlotte, whose car was damaged.

“I just feel really disappointed because it’s always felt like a really safe town,” she said.

“With people coming from out of town, it might be their first experience in Asheville and they have this happen. It’s really heartbreaking to see that they might have damage to their car to such great extent.”

"I’ve never seen any kind of violence like this in Asheville at all. I’m very shocked, very disappointed, and feeling like I wouldn’t even want to come downtown after 9 o’clock.”

When asked if she might feel unsafe in downtown now, Kostigen said yes.

Christina Williams said she was with friends at Carmel's when the cacophony of smashing glass, yelling and tumult erupted.

She watched as a bewildered man talked to a Police Department officer beside his seriously damaged car.

"Violence and cowardice," Williams said, noting that several of the vandals removed their masks and black outer clothing and tossed it away after committing their crimes.

Anyone with information is asked to call Asheville police at 252-1110

BACKFIRE: Latino Rallies around nation on MAY 1 to protest AZ? Get ready for La Raza, and Aztlan

welcome to juarez.jpgHispanics and Democratic lawmakers furious over Arizona's harsh crackdown on illegal immigrants expect huge weekend rallies across the United States, piling pressure on President Barack Obama to overhaul immigration laws in this election year.

Protest organizers on Wednesday said outrage over the Arizona law -- which seeks to drive illegal immigrants out of the state bordering Mexico -- has galvanized Latinos and would translate into a higher turnout for May Day rallies in more than 70 U.S. cities.

"The marches and demonstrations are going to be far more massive than they otherwise would have been," said Juan Jose Gutierrez, a Los Angeles rally organizer who runs an immigration assistance company.

The backlash began on Friday after Arizona Governor Jan Brewer signed into law a measure that requires state and local police to determine a person's immigration status if there is "reasonable suspicion" they are undocumented. Critics say it is unconstitutional and opens the door to racial profiling.

The crowds on the streets, from Los Angeles to New York, could be the biggest since 2006, when hundreds of thousands of marchers urged former President George W. Bush to overhaul federal immigration laws. He tried, but failed in Congress.

"With what's going on in Arizona we see renewed energy for folks to fight for immigration reform," said Marissa Graciosa, of the Fair Immigration Reform Movement, an organizer of rallies and vigils this Friday and Saturday.

In Washington, meanwhile, a diverse group of more than two dozen lawmakers -- Hispanics, blacks, Asians and whites -- held a news conference outside the U.S. Capitol to denounce the Arizona law as a violation of civil rights.

I hear a lot of concern for POSSIBLE violations of civil rights, and NONE for an unsecured border by these people. Secure the border and this law becomes MOOT. That is the fastest way to alleviate this problem, NOT protest of the law in order to ensure MS-13 can come and go and kidnap as they please.

Obama will never propose to cure the civil rights issue, and there IS one, by curing the underlying problem ..THE BORDER
One can only wonder cynically, WHY NOT?

With a secured border we will all be free to discuss BOTH open immigration and the path to citizenship or expulsion those here illegally can choose for themselves. Until then protesting a law designed to help safeguard, DESPERATELY, the citizens of a locality is an ugly absurdity.

If the daily situation was not unbearable such a law would never even have been discussed let alone passed.

U.S. LATINOS MELD INTO MUSLIMS

From Paul Williams at The Last Crusade:

Islam and Illegal Aliens

More than 200,000 converts

by

Paul L. Williams, Ph.D.

Islam represents the fastest-growing religion in the United States and Latinos represent one of the fastest-growing minorities. Increasingly, the two trends are coinciding in the form of Hispanic converts to Islam.

In 2004, the Christian Science Monitor placed the number of Muslim Latinos in the U.S. at 15,000.

Five years later, New York University and Newsweek sets this figure at 200,000. Seven percent of the Latinos in America are now Muslims. No other religion has shown such dramatic gains within a short span of time.

This growth is reflected in the appearance of such websites as HispanicMuslim.com and LatinoDawah.org

Dr. Dario Fernandez-Morera, a sociology professor at Northwestern University, says that many Latinos in America now trace their religious and cultural ancestry not to Christian Spain but the al-Andalus Moors, who governed much of the Iberian Peninsula from 711 to 1492.

In keeping with this development, the Nation of Aztlan, a Hispanic separatist group with ties to Communist dictators Hugo Chavez and Fidel Castro, has formed a Latino-Islamic Public Affairs Committee to show that there is “no conflict between the Qu’ran and the New Testament” as they relate to Jesus Christ and that the divisions between Latinos and Muslims are “the consequences of the Zionist who reject Jesus as the true Messiah.”

One Chicano ex-convict tried to explain the allure of Islam for Latino inmates, and why Mexican-Americans sympathize with Palestinians: “The old Latin American revolutionaries converted to atheism, but the new faux revolutionary Latino American prisoner can just as easily convert to Islam….There reside in the Latino consciousness at least three historical grudges, three conflicting selves: the Muslim Moor, the Catholic Spanish and the indigenous Indian. For the Mexican inmates, the Palestinians had their homeland stolen and were oppressed in much the same way as Mexicans.”

So many Latinos have thronged to Islam that many mosques, including some in North Jersey, have set up special “Latino Muslim” groups within their congregations. And many now offer simultaneous Spanish translations as part of their religious services.

” When we reached out to non-Muslim organizations,” says Mohammed Al-Hayek, the imam at the Islamic Educational Center of North Hudson inUnion City, New Jersey, “ we weren’t even thinking of Hispanics; we didn’t know much about Hispanics. But they were the ones who responded. That’s when we realized that our outreach focus had to be specifically Hispanics.”

In response to this phenomenon, Imam Al-Hayek brought in the head of a mosque in Ecuador and asked him to go out into the immigrant enclaves of Hudson County and talk about Islam.

“Here was a Latino, someone the people in the Hispanic community could relate to, speaking to them in their own language about Islam,” say Al-Hayek. “It wasn’t Arabs speaking to them, and at the beginning especially, that made a big difference.”

mezquita Omar Ibn Al Khattab

The mosque’s efforts have paid off. Since Al-Hayek began the outreach
program seven years ago, hundreds of Hispanics have attended his mosque and converted to Islam

Mohamed El-Filali, the outreach director for the Islamic Center of Passaic County, holds an “open house” for Hispanics every summer.

“Many of the Latinos who accept Islam are looking for what many people are searching for when they turn to religion in general, which is a way out of one kind of life and a means by which to reach divine acceptance.”

Like many Hispanics at the mosque in Union City, Gaby Gonzalez, a 22 year-old woman from Honduras, came from a family of devout Catholics. “Islam means submission to God, not that you are chosen to go out and bomb a place – that is a specific group that is not practicing Islam the way it was intended,” Gonzalez says. “We don’t drink alcohol, we don’t eat pork, we pray five times a day, and people look at that and call us fanatics.”

Milagros Ali, another member of the Union City mosque, immigrated to the U.S. from her native Peru in 2002.

I never thought I’d convert,” she says while taking a break from a Quran class. “I went to Catholic school — priests and nuns were all over the place.”

According to Professor Hjamil Martínez-Vázquez of Texas Christian University’s Department of Religion, the conversion of U.S. Latinos to Islam isn’t just a fad.

It’s going to continue,” said Professor Martínez-Vázquez, who’s currently writing a book about Latino Muslims in the U.S. He explained that, after Sept. 11, there was a surge in converts as Latinos started reading about Islam for the first time. Many thought it answered recurring questions about Catholicism.

Uruguayan-born Javier Graviz, 26, of Union City, wears a kufi and sports an unruly brown beard. He converted to Islam while in his late teens, and though he’s never had problems on the street for being Muslim, he knows others who have been called “Bin Laden” while walking down Bergenline Avenue.

Mr. Graviz maintains that his family was perplexed when he first converted but didn’t give him too many problems.

They were like, ‘What are you getting into?’ My mom thought it was a cult. But I see other Latino families give their kids more trouble about it,” Graviz says. “Now mom is a Muslim, too.”

Imam Muhammad Musri, president of the Islamic Society of Central Florida, says Latinos and Muslims find they have a lot in common. “There are so many common denominators between immigrant Muslims and immigrant Hispanics who see the issues common to both of them — immigration issues, as it is a big discussion in the United States, and there are other issues of trying to find a job, keep a job, buy a home — all the same struggles two groups of people happen to be going through creates this bond between them”.

Mr. Musri adds, “Many who come from Central and South America come with conservative values and, as well, Muslims come with conservative values. And here in the States they find that those values are put in question or are being challenged. So it is common to see Hispanics and Muslims working on similar projects in terms of family and education and reforms to protect their values, their conservative values they have.
