Because I Said So

The parent's creed "Because I said so" assumes a certain amount of trust. Trust that what the parent say's, is just and safe.

Our government, over time has taken on the roll of parent. With the government's growth, our voices have grown weaker. No longer are we allowed to have much say, in how our country and government are run.


But, don't take my word for it.

Eager to reassure consumers, Obama also announced the federal government would immediately begin backing the warranties that new car buyers receive _ a step designed to signal that it is safe to purchase U.S.-made autos and trucks despite the distress of the industry.

With his words, Obama underscored the extent to which the government is now dictating terms to two of the country's iconic corporations, much as it has already taken an ownership stake in banks, the insurance giant AIG and housing titans Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.

In an extraordinary move, the administration forced the departure of Rick Wagoner as CEO of General Motors over the weekend, and implicit in Obama's remarks was that the government holds the ability to pull the plug on that company or Chrysler.

Most notably, we should examine the proposed "stimulus" package, which sailed though the House of Representatives last week. This piece of legislation represents the most dramatic shift toward socialism in American history.

Just after the November election, White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel said, "Never let a serious crisis go to waste, it's an opportunity to do things you couldn't do before." It is with that mentality that the Democrat-controlled Congress produced the "American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009"(H.R. 1) a 647-page blank check that sends over $800 billion of borrowed funds haphazardly into the economy (sort of) over a period of five or six years.

Students should be aware that Congress is mortgaging the financial well-being of their children and grandchildren with this piece of legislation. Billions upon billions of dollars will be spent on projects that would not even remotely stimulate the economy should this measure pass. For instance, Congress seeks to spend $200 million to rehabilitate the National Mall, $2.5 billion to upgrade low-income housing and $400 million for "climate change" research, among other things.

Watching President Obama apologize last week for America’s arrogance - before a French audience that owes its freedom to the sacrifices of Americans - helped convince me that he has a deep-seated antipathy toward American values and traditions. North Korea was kind enough to give a full 6 weeks of daily warnings that it was going to launch an ICBM in direct violation of multiple UN resolutions. Obviously, I am powerless to stop the administration from releasing top al Qaeda operatives who planned mass-murder attacks against American cities—like Binyam Mohammed (the accomplice of "Dirty Bomber" Jose Padilla) whom the administration recently transferred to Britain , where he is now at liberty and living on public assistance.

I am similarly powerless to stop the administration from admitting into the United States such alien jihadists as the 17 remaining Uighur detainees. According to National Intelligence Director Dennis Blair, the Uighurs will apparently live freely, on American taxpayer assistance, despite the facts that they are affiliated with a terrorist organization and have received terrorist paramilitary training.. Under federal immigration law (the 2005 REAL ID Act), those facts render them excludable from the United States.

The Uighurs’ impending release is thus a remarkable development given the Obama administration’s propensity to deride its predecessor’s purported insensitivity to the rule of law.

A Justice Department inquiry of Bush administration lawyers who wrote memos authorizing the use of enhanced interrogation techniques of enemy combatants – such as top Al Qaeda official Abu Zubaydah and other terrorist suspects — has concluded that the authors committed "serious lapses of judgment" but should not be criminally prosecuted.

The report by the Office of Professional Responsibility, an internal ethics unit within the Justice Department, is instead expected to request that state bar associations consider possible disciplinary action, including reprimands or even disbarment, for some of the lawyers involved in writing the legal opinions. One is now a judge on the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals.

Retrieving information that hindered further devastation and loss of life on American soil is now a crime under the reign of Obama.

The Financial Times, one of the most respected and widely read newspapers on the planet, features an editorial today that openly admits the agenda to create a world government based on anti-democratic principles and concedes that the term "global governance" is merely a euphemism for the move towards a centralized global government.

For years we were called paranoid nutcases for warning about the elite's plans to centralize global power and destroy American sovereignty.


Throughout the 1990's people who talked about the alarming move towards global government were smeared as right-wing lunatics by popular culture and the media.

Now the agenda is out in the open and in our faces, the debunkers have no more ammunition with which to deride us.

A jaw-dropping editorial written by the Financial Times' chief foreign affairs commentator Gideon Rachman entitled 'And now for a world government' lays out the plan for global government and how it is being pushed with deceptive language and euphemisms in order to prevent people from becoming alarmed.

"For the first time in my life, I think the formation of some sort of world government is plausible," writes Rachman, citing the financial crisis, "global warming" and the "global war on terror" as three major pretexts through which it is being introduced.

Rachman writes that "global governance" could be introduced much sooner than many expect and that President elect Barack Obama has already expressed his desire to achieve that goal, making reference to Obama's circle of advisors which includes Strobe Talbott, who in 1992 stated,
"In the next century, nations as we know it will be obsolete; all states will recognize a single, global authority. National sovereignty wasn't such a great idea after all."

Rachman then concedes that the more abstract term "global governance," which is often used by top globalists like David Rockefeller as a veil to offset accusations that a centralized global government is the real agenda, is merely a trick of "soothing language" that is used to prevent "people reaching for their rifles in America's talk-radio heartland".

"But some European thinkers think that they recognize what is going on," says Rachman.

"Jacques Attali, an adviser to President Nicolas Sarkozy of France, argues that:

"Global governance is just a euphemism for global government."

As far as he is concerned, some form of global government cannot come too soon. Mr Attali believes that the, "core of the international financial crisis is that we have global financial markets and no global rule of law".

Rachman proceeds to outline what the first steps to an official world government would look like, including the creation of,

"A legally binding climate-change agreement negotiated under the auspices of the UN and the creation of a 50,000-strong UN peacekeeping force". "A 'world government' would involve much more than co-operation between nations," writes Rachman.

"It would be an entity with state-like characteristics, backed by a body of laws. The European Union has already set up a continental government for 27 countries, which could be a model. The EU has a supreme court, a currency, thousands of pages of law, a large civil service and the ability to deploy military force."

We cannot today fully appreciate the tremendous impact of this event. Mankind had finally broken the shackles that had destined him to be a slave since the dawn of time. America would prove that equality of opportunity, coupled with the protection of our unalienable rights granted equally by our Creator, would inspire men and women to achieve a freedom that they, themselves, never dreamed was possible. Wave after wave of immigrants came to our shores thirsting for the chance to prove their worth and, in so doing, to earn their freedom and, incidentally, to build a new Nation. These truths are self-evident because they are based on the long tradition of natural law which acknowledges that there is a "higher law" of right and wrong. The last five of the Ten Commandments are the foundation of our criminal law. It is this "higher law" from which we derive human law and against which we must evaluate all law. It is moral reasoning, not political will, which is the foundation of our government and the rationale for its existence. Our republic was nurtured by the high ideals and ambitions of a fiercely independent and religious people.

The Declaration of Independence says: "That to secure these Rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just Powers from the Consent of the Governed." They devised a government that would be strong enough to secure our rights, yet not so powerful as to be oppressive itself.

The Preamble of our Constitution states: "We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquillity, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America."

Article I, Section 8 states: "The Congress shall have the power to lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the debts and provide for the common Defense and the general welfare of the United States." It goes on to enumerate seventeen powers to execute that mandate. In Section 9 it withheld eight specifically enumerated powers.

These United States of America became an ideal. We were a living example that there was hope for the emancipation of all Mankind from the bondage of social status and tyrannical governments. We would prove that every person, regardless of race, creed or social status, can earn freedom by working to make this world a better place in which to live, while respecting those rights with which we are all endowed by our Creator. Many new governments adopted our Constitution which places upon government the responsibility to protect those rights.

Today we find ourselves dependent on a government which becomes more and more the master of our lives. Some people say that our Constitution is no longer relevant. They say that they are happy to pay taxes to defend America and to help the needy. To those we might ask: "Why, after 60 years, do all of our problems multiply and grow?" Today we have an uneasy sense that something is radically wrong in America.

The historical experience of socialist countries has sadly demonstrated that collectivism does not do away with alienation but rather increases it, adding to it a lack of basic necessities and economic inefficiency.

Spain: alleged Al-Qaeda financier belongs to Socialist Party’s Executive Board

In the last Garzon’s judicial operation (jan 20th) against alleged Al-Qaeda collaborators, a Pakistani named Abdul Razzaq Sadiq was detained. It has been discovered he is Executive Secretary’s of the Catalan Socialist Party (the branch of Zapatero’s party in Catalonia) in the Catalonian city Ciutat Vella. Interior Ministry’s press release published his surnames changed, so no one could guess who he really was. In all police’s documents, his surnames were in right order, so the change was made only afterwards in the Interior Ministry’s press release.

Three days after, they were freed by a Garzón’s resolution, which said that he didn’t have proofs which could link them with the terrorist group’s financing scheme. But they had been accused of sending illegally money to Pakistan, only three days before.

Ali Larijani visits Spain

Ali Larijani, President of the Iranian Parliament, is visiting Spain. The visit has been silenced by the media, till such a point that I have known about it because I read, in an Argentinian blog, the comuniqué issued by the Israeli embassy in Spain pointing their objections to the visit.
The communiqué is translated in its entirety in the link provided. But one of them instantly called my attention: the Israeli Embassy pointed out that "according to the last statistics published by Spanish Foreign Business Office, the volumen of weapons’ sales and double use equipments from Spain to Iran has been growing significantly and is now 30 times bigger than the sales of Spain to Israel".
According to Spanish statistics, the volume of weapons and double use materials' sales from Spain to Israel have also grown during Zapatero's terms in office. From something more than €441.000, they have plummeted to more than €1.500.000, only in the 1st semester of 2008.
During the visit he has already met Javier Solana and today he is meeting Zapatero.
A reflection: if this happens after preaching Zapatero he was a "pacifist", what would have happened if he was a "warmonger"?

Obama Is Setting Himself and the West Up for Complete Failure!

The West faces two great challenges today: The survival of capitalism, an economic system which has brought prosperity to the masses; and the survival of Judeo-Christianity, a religious system which has brought civilization to us all. Without both, we would be very much more impoverished today, and we probably would still be living in a state of benightedness. Alas, because of recent failures in the economic system, our commitment to capitalism is appearing weak and shaky, and because of the Jihad being waged against a weakened West, our commitment to Judeo-Christianity is appearing weak and shaky, too.

We need to renew our commitment to both the economic system and to the underpinnings of our civilization, but to do that, we need good, strong leadership, and leadership from people who are equally committed to both capitalism and Judeo-Christianity. Sadly, such commitment is nowhere to be found.

In order to surmount these two great challenges we are now facing, we need crystal clear thinking and total commitment to the purpose. To-date, there is evidence of neither crystal clear thinking nor commitment to the civilization which is the keystone of our freedoms and way of life.

President Obama was swept to power in the belief that his administration would usher in a new dawn. He came to power on a promise of hope and change, though before the election, he omitted to explain to the electors what that “hope” stood for, and what that “change” would mean for Americans and for the world.

Obama’s confidence was so great that he promised us all that after his administration, the world would be a very different place. The “audacity of hope” indeed. One could also add the audacity of an upstart!

We all know that Obama wishes to stimulate the American economy by spend, spend, spending. The stimulus package worth $825bn shows Obama’s commitment to spending other people’s money: Taxpayers’ money! For as we all know, governments do not have any money; they have only other people’s.

This stimulus package is being hailed as some kind of stroke of Obama genius, whereas, in actual fact, it is old hat. He is only proposing what socialists have proposed down over the ages: To tax and spend. The only thing that is possibly new about Obama’s proposal is the scale of the stimulus package.

Spending money on roads and other infrastructure is all well and good, and doubtless there are many areas in America which need road-renewal programmes, and badly; but such spending will take a very long time to have an effect on the American economy. The lead-in times are going to be long; these projects are not going to have the immediate effects that Obama will surely be hoping for.

Further, spending public money on this vast scale is a sure recipe for corruption. Contractors, and many others, will be able to dip their hands into the overflowing pots of gold, and help themselves. If Obama thinks he can develop a system that will prevent this from happening, then he is naïver than even I thought.

Then there is the problem which spending public money on such a grand scale will bring with it: It will bring impoverishment to future generations, since future generations will be burdened with the massive debt which today’s generation is in the process of getting itself into.

Government intervention is now the order of the day, and on both sides of the Atlantic. But for government intervention, you can read socialism. For that is the path we are now going down. Wherever and whenever governments get involved in private businesses and corporations, their intervention and the ensuing government regulations end up crippling business communities and stifling initiative.

There is no doubt that we have got into this dire economic situation because of greed; and that greed was born in the complete and utter deregulation of the Reagan and Thatcher years. But what they did was not wrong at all, for their policies proved to be vote-winning, and they led to prosperity. The problems arose not because of the Reaganite and Thatcherite policies themselves, but because they were allowed, over the years long after both leaders had left power, to go on and on, unchecked.

So now, instead of following Friedmanite principles, principles which have been proved to work, we are in the process of throwing out capitalist principles: We are throwing the baby out with the bathwater, so to speak. And, as a consequence, we are being taken down the socialist route, taken down the road which leads to higher and higher taxes, increasing government interference, and stifled initiative. It is a road which leads to no paradise! Of that, be sure!

Of course, the excesses of many, especially bankers and their ilk, need to be curbed. It makes absolutely no sense to allow such people to keep paying themselves vulgar and enormous bonuses, especially when many others are experiencing difficulty in feeding their families. But that is an argument for strong government to put a stop to the worst excesses of the capitalist system; it is not an argument for abandoning the system altogether.

We need to reaffirm our commitment to the system by making it possible for people to start up businesses. This can be done with substantial tax breaks and, where necessary, government loans, subsidies, and grants. Unburden the people of their onerous taxation! Set the people free! Let them work and keep the fruits of their labours! Encourage manufacturing! Encourage initiative! Bring out the best in America!

In my judgement, the way Obama is going about correcting the economy, when Obama will no longer be the president of the USA, others will be left to pick up the pieces and pay the high taxes which he will surely introduce, since there is no other way to finance such an ambitious stimulus package. In short, President Obama shows no commitment to capitalism; on the contrary, his way of government is based on the socialist model.

But what is equally worrying, perhaps more worrying still, is Obama’s lack of commitment to Judeo-Christian civilization. In matters of faith, his vision is blurred to say the least. This is probably due to the nature of his family background. >>> ©Mark Alexander | Friday, February 6, 2009

A Parable For Our Time

Today on my way to lunch I passed a homeless guy with a sign that read "Vote Obama, I need the money." I laughed.

Once in the restaurant my server had on a "Obama 08" button, again I laughed as he had given away his political preference — just imagine the coincidence.

When the bill came I decided not to tip the server and explained to him that I was exploring Obama's "redistribution of wealth" concept. He stood there in disbelief while I told him that I was going to redistribute his tip to someone who I deemed more in need — the homeless guy outside. The server angrily stormed away from me.

I went outside, gave the homeless guy $10 and told him to thank the server inside as I've decided he could use the money more. The homeless guy was grateful.

At the end of my rather unscientific redistribution experiment I realized the homeless guy was grateful for the money he did not earn, but the waiter was pretty angry that I gave away the money he did earn, even though the actual recipient needed the money more.

I guess redistribution of wealth is an easier thing to swallow in concept than in practical application.

Censorship in Spain

The most important concern I had before 9 March elections was precisely that of censorship against non-politically correct ideas if Zapatero won. Well, Zapatero won and the first intent of censorship has come too. A supposedly anti-racist NGO Movement against intolerance has asked the Government to see if they can shut several webs and blogs because they were listed in an anti-immigration website deemed as "racist and far-right". The problem is that the authors of those blogs listed weren't even aware their blogs were listed there and the NGO didn't even take the time to read all the blogs they were -and are- asking to shut. Now they have even erased some of them -also here-, while keeping others listed, and menacing them with legal actions because of the "Statements that are made against the NGO and its president".
