Third of Britons believe Islam threatens British way of life, says report

More than a third of people in the UK think that Islam is a threat to the British way of life, according to a report by the anti-fascist group Hope not Hate.

The organisation’s annual “State of Hate” report, which will be launched on Monday, argues that anti-Muslim prejudice has replaced immigration as the key driver of far right growth.

In polling conducted by the group in July last year, 35% of people thought Islam was generally a threat to the British way of life, compared with 30% who thought it was generally compatible. Forty-nine per cent of those who voted Conservative in the 2017 general election shared thought it was generally incompatible, while 21% of Labour voters did....

Candice Hedge, survivor of the London Bridge jihad attack, appears to have a "Panda tube" coming out of her nose. The Panda tube is a weighted feeding tube. Ms. Hedge probably sustained a tear in her esophagus. Thank God it was not her trachea!

An Australian woman has been left unable to speak after she was stabbed in the throat during the terror attacks in London, her family says.

Candice Hedge, 34, from Brisbane, is recovering at St Thomas Hospital following emergency surgery for a knife wound to her neck.

"She can't talk. She's been stabbed around her neck, her throat. She's all bandaged up." her mother, Kim Del Toro, told Fairfax Media.

"She went into surgery, but she's going to be fine, thank goodness."

Ms Hedge has been living in London for the past year and she was working with her boyfriend, Luke, at a bar and restaurant in the Borough Market when one of the terrorists stormed the building on Saturday night.

"He heard some commotion out the front and went out to see what was going on," Ms Hedge's mother said.

"He saw some men with knives coming toward them, and he ran back inside to see where Candice was."

In the chaos, he couldn't find her and police yelled for everyone to stay down.

Then, she came running toward him, holding her bleeding neck.

He grabbed her and the two of them took an ambulance to hospital....

What will Ms. Hedge's life be like from this point on? The Panda tube is typically a long-term medical device, and such a device typically requires daily or every-other-day maintenance as long as the device remains in place.

And after the Panda tube is removed, will Ms. Hedge's throat still hurt every time she swallows? A slash into any part of the body typically causes nerve damage, damage which can persist lifelong.

Survivors of jihad attacks may persevere in spirit, but their bodies may still suffer for the rest of the survivors' lives.

Friends believe he killed himself because he was overwhelmed by the horror of yet more innocent lives lost to terrorism.

One said: “He didn’t want to live in a world where these ­terror attacks continue.”

On July 7, 2005, Tony was yards from fanatic Mohammad Sidique Khan when he detonated a device on a Tube train after it left Edgware Road station.

Seven people, including Khan, died. Tony was showered with shrapnel but survived.

Friends believe the Manchester bombing, coupled with the Westminster attack in March when four people were killed by Khalid Masood, brought back traumatic memories of 7/7 and Tony could not cope.

Craig Wallace used the sign as Stop The War protesters came to Westminster for the vote on military action in Syria last week.

It stated: 'I am Muslim, I am labelled a terrorist, I trust you, do you trust me enough for a hug?'

But the 23-year-old, of Willesden Green, north London, is now facing a possible prison sentence after he threatened Tory MP Charlotte Leslie online following the vote.

LONDON - (AP) -- A new study says the Muslim population of England and Wales almost doubled over a 10-year period. 

The analysis of 2011 census data indicates the number of people identifying themselves as Muslim grew from 1.5 million in 2001 to 2.7 million by 2011. 

The study based on official data was prepared for the Muslim Council of Britain by a team led by Sundas Ali of the University of Oxford. 

The "British Muslims in Numbers" report indicates that more than half were born outside Britain but 73 percent regard themselves as British.

Security chiefs have taken the dramatic step of withdrawing Royal Guards from their high-profile posts outside palaces amid mounting fears of ‘lone wolf’ terrorist attacks. 

The move to more secure positions behind gates or railings is a direct response to attacks such as the murder of Fusilier Lee Rigby and the killing of a sentry by a lone gunman at the Canadian Parliament two months ago. 

But the measures have been described as a ‘retreat’ for the Guards, known the world over for their bearskin caps. 

Retired officer Major Iain Dalzel-Job of the Scots Guards told The Mail on Sunday: ‘I think this is a big shame. 

'The reason people know we’re around is because they can see us. But I suppose the changes are necessary as there is a significant threat.’

The significant threat is the Western world's collective lack of balls.

As a bright, eager student at Cambridge University, with one degree already under her belt, Nabilah Phillips could look forward to a successful career and comfortable future. 

After completing her engineering PhD she would, perhaps, take up a coveted, highly-paid job in industry, or stay on as an academic lecturing the next generation. Instead, however, Nabilah, now 35, took an extremely unexpected path. 

She abandoned her studies, forfeiting her hard-won university place and entered a polygamous marriage, becoming the second wife of London businessman Hasan Phillips, 32 — who has since acquired a third wife. 

Nabilah, her husband and his two other wives are part of a growing number of polygamous marriages taking place in Britain. They are rubber-stamped under Sharia law, which considers polygamy completely legitimate as Muslim men are permitted to take up to four wives. 

It is, of course, in complete contradiction to UK law, under which bigamy is illegal and can result in a prison sentence of up to seven years. But as such marriages are not recognised by English courts — and around 70 to 75 per cent of Muslim weddings go unregistered — those who marry under the system are not subject to prosecution. 

As a result, the practice is becoming increasingly commonplace across Britain, with 20,000 polygamous marriages now estimated to have taken place here. So what does Nabilah have to say about a marriage that would be anathema to most British women? 

‘I really enjoy being in a polygamous relationship,’ she insists, her face covered with a Muslim veil, known as a niqab, at the request of her husband. 

‘We are not stupid people who are forced into this type of relationship,’ she adds, laughing.

(Reuters) - The terminal building at Luton Airport, north of London, has been evacuated after a suspicious item was found, the police and airport said on Monday.

"London Luton Airport has evacuated the terminal building after a suspicious item was found in the security search area. The decision has been taken with the police to ensure the safety and security of passengers and staff," Luton Airport said on their website.

The airport said all incoming flights had been suspended and the approach road to the airport had been closed.

Bedfordshire Police said that they had cleared the departure lounge at Luton, the country's sixth biggest airport which primarily serves holiday destinations....

The release of the documentary overlaps with the alarming revelations of a report released from Rotherham, the Northern English town where abuse, grooming and trafficking of 1,400 girls by predominantly Asian men over a 16-year period.

According to Reuters, the independent report last week exposed the scale and graphic nature of the crimes and raised difficult questions about whether timidity about confronting the racial aspects of the abuse had prompted authorities to turn a blind eye.

Some of the victims, mainly white girls in social care homes, were as young as 11 and were plied with drugs and alcohol before being trafficked to cities across northern England and gang-raped by groups of men, predominately of Pakistani heritage, the report said.

Those who tried to speak out were threatened with guns and made to watch brutal gang rapes. Their abusers said they would be next if they told anyone. One girl was doused with petrol, her rapist threatening to set her alight.

The report added that senior managers in social care "underplayed" the problem while police regarded many victims with contempt.

UK Fights Back Against Islamization

UK Telegraph: Plan for 'no-notice' school inspections to stamp out Islamic extremism in classrooms 

Schools are to face no-notice inspections after it emerged that those at the centre of the alleged Trojan Horse plot put on "hastily arranged shows of cultural inclusivity" to fool regulators. 

David Cameron will order Ofsted to consider lightning inspections of all schools in the future as part of a “robust response” to allegations that Islamic extremists infiltrated schools in Birmingham. 

The Government believes changes are needed after it was revealed that some schools at the centre of the affair suddenly staged lessons and assemblies on Christianity to give a false impression of religious harmony. 

In further measures, Ofsted will announce that all schools will be forced to promote a “broad and balanced” education to prepare pupils for life as British citizens.

'We can't avoid the threat of Islamism' 

It is not just an argument about how to prevent terrorism inspired by religious fanaticism. It is also about the future of our culture, and how to ensure that it does not fragment into a series of segregated and separate groups united only by their mutual suspicion and distrust. 

That is the nightmare scenario that just about everyone wants to avoid. It is one conjured up as a serious possibility not just by political parties such as Ukip and pressure groups such as Migration Watch, but also by academic researchers who study the impact of immigration.

Girls found hanged after gang-rape 'may have been victims of honour killings' 

Two teenage cousins found hanging from a mango tree after being kidnapped, gang-raped and lynched, may in fact have been murdered in an honour killing by members of their own family, police in India have suggested. 

Photographs of the low caste girls, aged 14 and 15, hanging from the tree, provoked a worldwide outcry over the scale of sexual violence in India and atrocities suffered by its backward castes and "untouchables". 

UN Secretary Ban Ki-moon voiced his horror at the killings. The girls had been walking to a nearby field to go to the toilet one evening last month when they were allegedly seized by five men, gang-raped and hung from a tree. 

Three of the men accused were arrested along with two policemen who had refused to help the victims' families when they first reported their daughters missing. Two more suspects are on the run.

Aminu Sadiq Ogwuche, arrested on suspicion of carrying out bomb attacks in Nigeria, threatened to cut off hands of non-believers while living in Britain

A British-born "ringleader" of the Islamist group responsible for the kidnapping of hundreds of school girls in Nigeria was radicalised while studying at a UK unversity, according to friends.

Aminu Sadiq Ogwuche, 29, was arrested on Wednesday in connection with two recent bombings carried out by Boko Haram in the Nigerian capital Abuja that killed nearly 100 people.

He is suspected of co-masterminding the attacks - one in the suburb of Nyanya that killed 75 people on April 14 and a second attack just yards away which killed 19 earlier this month.

Interpol put out an international arrest warrant for Mr Ogwuche, who was discovered after a reward of £100,000 led to his discovery in Sudan.

Mr Ogwuche, who is the son of a retired Nigerian colonel, was said by fellow students at University of Glamorgan in Wales to call himself "The Lion of God" and threatened to cut the hands and feet of non-believers while living in Britain....

London: DOCTOR ACCUSED OF FEMALE GENITAL MUTILATION AT TAXPAYER FUNDED HOSPITAL

A doctor has been charged with Female Genital Mutilation at a National Health Service Hospital. Dr Dhanoun Dharmasena is accused of carrying out the mutilation whilst another man, Hasan Mohammed, is alleged to have aided and abetted the crime. 

The alleged crime took place at Whittington Hospital, in North London. The hospital is owned and operated by the National Health Service, meaning Dr Dharmasena would have been in receipt of a taxpayer funded salary at the time of the alleged offenses. 

The announcement was made by Alison Saunders, the Director of Public Prosecutions, she said: “The CPS was asked to consider evidence in relation to this allegation of female genital mutilation by the Metropolitan Police Service after it was alleged that following a patient giving birth in November 2012, a doctor at the Whittington Hospital, in London, repaired FGM that had previously been performed on the patient, allegedly carrying out FGM himself. 

“Having carefully considered all the available evidence, I have determined there is sufficient evidence and it would be in the public interest to prosecute Dr Dhanoun Dharmasena for an offence contrary to S1 (1) of the Female Genital Mutilation Act. 

“I have also determined that Hasan Mohamed should face one charge of intentionally encouraging an offence of FGM, contrary to section 44(1) of the Serious Crime Act and a second charge of aiding, abetting, counselling or procuring Dr Dharmasena to commit an offence contrary to S1 (1) of the Female Genital Mutilation Act. 

“Dr Dhamasena and Hasan Mohamed will appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on 15 April. May I remind all those concerned that these individuals have a right to a fair trial and it is very important that there should be no reporting, commentary or sharing of information online which could in any way prejudice these proceedings.” 

There are thought to be 60,000 victims of Female Genital Mutilation in Britain, but this is the first prosecution since the practice became illegal in 1985. Saunders said prosecutions in such cases are so rare because victims are unwilling to speak in open court.

Islamic Law Is Adopted By British Legal Chiefs

Islamic law is to be effectively enshrined in the British legal system for the first time under guidelines for solicitors on drawing up “Sharia compliant” wills. 

Under ground-breaking guidance, produced by The Law Society, High Street solicitors will be able to write Islamic wills that deny women an equal share of inheritances and exclude unbelievers altogether. 

The documents, which would be recognised by Britain’s courts, will also prevent children born out of wedlock – and even those who have been adopted – from being counted as legitimate heirs. 

Anyone married in a church, or in a civil ceremony, could be excluded from succession under Sharia principles, which recognise only Muslim weddings for inheritance purposes. 

Nicholas Fluck, president of The Law Society, said the guidance would promote “good practice” in applying Islamic principles in the British legal system. 

Some lawyers, however, described the guidance as “astonishing”, while campaigners warned it represented a major step on the road to a “parallel legal system” for Britain’s Muslim communities. 

Baroness Cox, a cross-bench peer leading a Parliamentary campaign to protect women from religiously sanctioned discrimination, including from unofficial Sharia courts in Britain, said it was a “deeply disturbing” development and pledged to raise it with ministers. 

“This violates everything that we stand for,” she said. “It would make the Suffragettes turn in their graves.”

Tommy Robinson Attacked In Luton (Updated)

On October 11, 2013, after his resignation from the EDL:

The former leader of the EDL says he was attacked in Luton town centre this afternoon.

Tommy Robinson, real name Stephen Lennon, was filming a documentary in Chapel Street when he was allegedly attacked by three men at about 4.30pm.

A passerby who did not wish to be named said she was sat in her car nearby when the incident happened.

She said: “Three men came out of the chicken shop and started shouting at Tommy and the film crew. Then they went for him and attacked him, they were hitting him and he was just trying to get away saying he didn’t want a fight.

“Everybody was just trying to get out of the way. It was a bit crazy. I was trying to move my car, I thought ‘oh my god’ there’s kids about. I know a lot of people don’t agree with what he stands for but no one should be attacked in the street.”

Tommy tweeted “Just been attacked in Luton town cente in a religious attack!” followed by “Under attack in town, American film crew got it on camera. Good punch to be fair! America will see first hand” accompanied by a picture of the alleged attack taken from a video camera.

At this stage Beds Police have been unable to confirm any details of the incident, but it is understood police did attend the scene.

UPDATE: Robinson must have been attacked by three Muslims because he tweeted this:

'Wear a headscarf or we will kill you': How the 'London Taliban' is threatening women and trying to ban gays in bid to impose sharia law

Women who do not wear headscarves are being threatened with violence and even death by Islamic extremists intent on imposing sharia law on parts of Britain, it was claimed today. 

Other targets of the 'Talibanesque thugs', being investigated by police in the Tower Hamlets area of London, include homosexuals. Stickers have been plastered on public walls stating: 'Gay free zone. Verily Allah is severe in punishment'. 

Posters for H&M which feature women in bikinis and a racy poster for a Bollywood film have been defaced. 

An Asian woman who works in a pharmacy in east London was told to dress more modestly and wear a veil or the shop would be boycotted. When she went to the media to talk about the abuse she suffered, a man later entered the pharmacy and told her: 'If you keep doing these things, we are going to kill you'. 

The 31-year-old, who is not a practising Muslim, said she has since been told to take holiday by the pharmacy owners and now fears she may lose her job. She said: 'Why should I wear a hijab (headscarf) or burqa? I haven't done anything wrong.' 

Other incidents reported include the placing of stickers across the white-minority borough which state it is a 'gay-free zone' and the daubing of paint on posters for clothing shop H&M featuring women in bikinis. 

Ghaffar Hussain, of the anti-extremism think-tank the Quilliam Foundation, told The Sunday Times that the intimidation was the work of 'Talibanesque thugs'. 

He added: 'This minority think they have the right to impose their fringe interpretation of Islam on others.'
