Pakistan Raises State Of Alert Around Nuclear Facilities

From the BBC:

Pakistan has raised the state of alert around its nuclear facilities amid concerns they could be targeted by Islamist militants.

But a senior Pakistan military official said there had been no specific threat to the sites, and insisted that safeguards in place were fool proof.

The official was speaking in a rare press briefing on the issue.

It followed Western media reports warning that Pakistan's nuclear weapons could fall into the wrong hands.

The Pakistani authorities have been angered by Western media reports speculating that the country?s nuclear arsenal could fall into the hands of al-Qaeda militants.

The senior military official briefing foreign journalists said that the weapons were protected by an elaborate command and control system, and multiple levels of security.

'No collusion'

He acknowledged that Islamic militants had begun to attack army personnel in recent months, and that nuclear sites may also become a target.

He said the state of alert around nuclear facilities had increased, but there had been no specific threats against them.

The official said there was no way the Taleban or al-Qaeda could take over Pakistan?s estimated 50 nuclear warheads.

And he dismissed the possibility of collusion from within the system, saying all personnel dealing with sensitive material had been carefully monitored.

Despite fears raised by US media and politicians, the official said the US administration had not shown any recent concern about the safety of Pakistan?s nuclear weapons.

He also said any foreign intervention over the issue would be disastrous for the intruder.

Hitler And Muhammed

Andrew Bostom

Cliff May deserves credit for his National Review Online column of Thursday (1/24/08) which dares to associate—however indirectly, and in the end, I am afraid, inadequately—those he terms, using layers of prophylactic rhetorical separation from orthodox Islam, either “militant jihadists,” or “Islamists,” and their movement as “militant Islamism,”—with Hitler, and his “movement,” i.e., Nazism.

May’s inchoate effort, should be applauded for its attempted illustration of any possible ideological nexus between Hitler’s Nazism, and Islam. But ultimately, the associations he makes—the “ability to nurse grievances and stoke ambitions,” Germans/Aryans as a master race, and the concordant supremacism of “militant Islamism,” and generic “fanaticism”—ignore much more intimate, if uncomfortable to acknowledge, doctrinal and historical connections between ancient Islam, and modern Nazism, which I have elaborated, below.

Islam, Nazism, and Totalitarianism

During an interview conducted in the late 1930s (published in 1939), Karl Jung, the Swiss psychiatrist and founder of analytical psychiatry, was asked “…had he any views on what was likely to be the next step in religious development?” Jung replied, in reference to the Nazi fervor that had gripped Germany,

We do not know whether Hitler is going to found a new Islam. He is already on the way; he is like Muhammad. The emotion in Germany is Islamic; warlike and Islamic. They are all drunk with wild god. That can be the historic future.

Albert Speer, who was Hitler’s Minister of Armaments and War Production, wrote a contrite memoir of his World War II experiences while serving a 20-year prison sentence imposed by the Nuremberg tribunal. Speer’s narrative includes this discussion which captures Hitler’s racist views of Arabs on the one hand, and his effusive praise for Islam on the other:

Hitler had been much impressed by a scrap of history he had learned from a delegation of distinguished Arabs. When the Mohammedans attempted to penetrate beyond France into Central Europe during the eighth century, his visitors had told him, they had been driven back at the Battle of Tours. Had the Arabs won this battle, the world would be Mohammedan today. For theirs was a religion that believed in spreading the faith by the sword and subjugating all nations to that faith. Such a creed was perfectly suited to the Germanic temperament. [emphasis added] Hitler said that the conquering Arabs, because of their racial inferiority, would in the long run have been unable to contend with the harsher climate and conditions of the country. They could not have kept down the more vigorous natives, so that ultimately not Arabs but Islamized Germans could have stood at the head of this Mohammedan Empire. [emphasis added] Hitler usually concluded this historical speculation by remarking,

“You see, it’s been our misfortune to have the wrong religion. Why didn’t we have the religion of the Japanese, who regard sacrifice for the Fatherland as the highest good? The Mohammedan religion too would have been much more compatible to us than Christianity. Why did it have to be Christianity with its meekness and flabbiness?”

A similar ambivalence characterized Nazi Germany’s support for Arab Muslim causes in the World War II era. Hitler for example, in December 1937, even proposed omitting his “racial ladder” theory—which denigrated the Arabs—from a forthcoming Arabic translation of Mein Kampf. And a Berlin Foreign Ministry spokesman, during a November, 1942 press conference reported in the New York Times, took “great pains” to assure Arabs that Nazi antisemitic policies were directed at Jews, exclusively. The spokesman elaborated:

The difference between Germany’s attitude toward Jews and Arabs has been clearly shown in the exchange of letters between the former Prime Minister of Iraq, Rashid Ali, and the German Institute for Racial Problems. We have never said the Arabs were inferior as a race. On the contrary, we have always pointed out the glorious historic past of the Arab people.

Although now, inexplicably, almost ignored in their entirety, writings produced for 100 years between the mid-19th through mid-20th centuries, by important scholars and intellectuals, in addition to Carl Jung—for example, the historians Jacob Burckhardt and Waldemar Gurian, philosopher Bertrand Russell, Protestant theologian Karl Barth, sociologist Jules Monnerot, and most notably, the renowned 20th century scholar of Islamic Law, G.H. Bousquet—referred to Islam as a despotic, or in 20th century parlance, totalitarian ideology.

Being imbued with fanaticism was the ultimate source of Muhammad’s great strength, and lead to his triumph as a despot, according to the 19th century Swiss historian Burckhardt:
Muhammad is personally very fanatical; that is his basic strength. His fanaticism is that of a radical simplifier and to that extent is quite genuine. It is of the toughest variety, namely doctrinaire passion, and his victory is one of the greatest victories of fanaticism and triviality. All idolatry, everything mythical, everything free in religion, all the multifarious ramifications of the hitherto existing faith, transport him into a real rage, and he hits upon a moment when large strata of his nation were highly receptive to an extreme simplification of the religious.

The Arabs, Burckhardt emphasizes, Muhammad’s henchmen, were not barbarians and had their own ingenuities, and spiritual traditions. Muhammad’s successful preaching among them capitalized upon an apparent longing for supra-tribal unification, “an extreme simplification.” Muhammad’s genius, “lies in divining this.” Utilizing portions of the most varied existing traditions, and taking advantage of the fact that “the peoples who were now attacked may also have been somewhat tired of their existing theology and mythology,” Muhammad

…with the aid of at least ten people, looks over the faiths of the Jews, Christians, and Parsis [Zoroastrians], and steals from them any scraps that he can use, shaping these elements according to his imagination. Thus everyone found in Muhammad’s sermons some echo of his accustomed faith. The very extraordinary thing is that with all this Muhammad achieved not merely lifetime success, the homage of Arabia, but founded a world religion that is viable to this day and has a tremendously high opinion of itself.

Burckhardt concludes that despite this achievement, Muhammad was not a great man, although he accepts the understandable inclination,

…to deduce great causes from great effects, thus, from Muhammad’s achievement, greatness of the originator. At the very least, one wants to concede in Muhammad’s case that he was no fraud, was serious about things, etc. However, it is possible to be in error sometime with this deduction regarding greatness and to mistake mere might for greatness. In this instance it is rather the low qualities of human nature that have received a powerful presentation. Islam is a triumph of triviality, and the great majority of mankind is trivial…But triviality likes to be tyrannical and is fond of imposing its yoke upon nobler spirits. Islam wanted to deprive distinguished old nations of their myths, the Persians of their Book of Kings, and for 1200 years it has actually prohibited sculpture and painting to tremendously large populations.

University of Notre Dame historian Waldemar Gurian, a refugee, who witnessed first hand the Communist and Fascist totalitarian movements in Europe, concluded (circa 1945) that Hitler, in a manner analogous to the 7th century precedent of Muhammad, had been the simplifier of German nationalism.

A fanatical simplifier who appeared as the unifier of various German traditions in the service of simple national aims and who was seen by many differing German groups—even by some people outside Germany—as the fulfiller of their wishes and sharer of their beliefs, with some distortions and exaggerations—such, as long as he had success, was Adolf Hitler.

Based upon the same clear understandings, and devoid of our era’s dulling, politically correct constraints, Karl Barth, like Carl Jung (cited earlier), offered this warning, also published in 1939:

[Karl Barth] Participation in this life, according to it the only worthy and blessed life, is what National Socialism, as a political experiment, promises to those who will of their own accord share in this experiment. And now it becomes understandable why, at the point where it meets with resistance, it can only crush and kill—with the might and right which belongs to Divinity! Islam of old as we know proceeded in this way. It is impossible to understand National Socialism unless we see it in fact as a new Islam [emphasis in original], its myth as a new Allah, and Hitler as this new Allah’s Prophet.

And after interviewing Muslim Brotherhood founder Hassan al-Banna himself, who “preached the doctrine of the Koran in one hand and the sword in the other,” Carlson observed:

It became clear to me why the average Egyptian worshipped the use of force. Terror was synonymous with power! This was one reason why most Egyptians, regardless of class or calling had admired Nazi Germany. It helped explain the sensational growth of the Ikhwan el Muslimin [Muslim Brotherhood]

In a brilliant, dispassionate contemporary analysis, Ibn Warraq describes 14 characteristics of “Ur Fascism” as enumerated by Umberto Eco, analyzing their potential relationship to the major determinants of Islamic governance and aspirations, through the present. He adduces salient examples which reflect the key attributes discussed by Eco: the unique institution of jihad war; the establishment of a Caliphate under “Allah’s vicegerent on earth,” the Caliph—ruled by Islamic Law, i.e., Shari’a, a rigid system of subservience and sacralized discrimination against non-Muslims and Muslim women, devoid of basic freedoms of conscience, and expression. Warraq’s assessment confirms what G.H. Bousquet concluded (in 1950) from his career studying the historical development and implementation of Islamic Law:

Islam first came before the world as a doubly totalitarian system. It claimed to impose itself on the whole world and it claimed also, by the divinely appointed Muhammadan law, by the principles of fiqh [jurisprudence], to regulate down to the smallest details the whole life of the Islamic community and of every individual believer… the study of Muhammadan Law (dry and forbidding though it may appear)… is of great importance to the world of today.

Storm Track Infiltration: US Wildfires and Terrorism

A little while back, the bloggospher was discussing the idea that the many wildfires set off last summer could be the work of eco-terrorists of the Jihadist kind. Such a terrorist attack was openly discussed on Jihadist websites.

U.S. officials monitoring terrorist web sites have discovered a call for using forest fires as weapons against “crusader” nations, in what may explain some recent wildfires in places like southern California and Greece.

A terrorist website was discovered recently that carried a posting that called for “Forest Jihad.” The posting was listed on the Internet on Nov. 26 and reported in U.S. intelligence channels last week.

The statement, in Arabic, said that “summer has begun so do not forget the Forest Jihad.”

Among the discussion was some evidence that cellular phones may have been used to ignite the wildfires. Very plausible and a very smart way to set a fire by exploding an incendiary device while being miles away from the event.

Now an undercover Op has found busting a California theft ring revealed remote detonated bombs.

First They Came For Piglet

Maybe, if I play dead, the Muslims will leave me alone.
From the great Mark Steyn:

My favorite headline of the year so far comes from the Daily Mail in Britain:

"Government Renames Islamic Terrorism As anti-Islamic Activity' To Woo Muslims."

Her Majesty's government is not alone in feeling it's not always helpful to link Islam and the, ah, various unpleasantnesses with suicide bombers and whatnot. Even in his cowboy Crusader heyday, President Bush liked to cool down the crowd with a lot of religion-of-peace stuff. But the British have now decided that kind of mealy-mouthed "respect" is no longer sufficient.

So, henceforth, any terrorism perpetrated by persons of an Islamic persuasion will be designated "anti-Islamic activity." Britain's Home Secretary, Jacqui Smith, unveiled the new brand name in a speech a few days ago. "There is nothing Islamic about the wish to terrorize, nothing Islamic about plotting murder, pain and grief," she told her audience. "Indeed, if anything, these actions are anti-Islamic."

Well, yes, one sort of sees what she means. Killing thousands of people in Manhattan skyscrapers in the name of Islam does, among a certain narrow-minded type of person, give Islam a bad name, and thus could be said to be "anti-Islamic" – in the same way that the Luftwaffe raining down death and destruction on Londoners during the Blitz was an "anti-German activity."

But I don't recall even Neville Chamberlain explaining, as if to a 5-year-old, that there is nothing German about the wish to terrorize and invade, and that this is entirely at odds with the core German values of sitting around eating huge sausages in beer gardens while wearing lederhosen.

Still, it should add a certain surreal quality to BBC news bulletins: "The prime minister today condemned the latest anti-Islamic activity as he picked through the rubble of Downing Street looking for his 2008 Wahhabi Community Outreach Award. In a related incident, the anti-Islamic activists who blew up Buckingham Palace have unfortunately caused the postponement of the Queen's annual Ramadan banquet."

A few days ago, a pretrial hearing in an Atlanta courtroom made public for the first time a video made by two Georgia Tech students. Syed Haris Ahmed and Ehsanul Islam Sadequee went to Washington and took footage of key buildings, and that "casing video" then wound up in the hands of Younis Tsouli, an al-Qaida recruiter in London. As the film shot by the Georgia students was played in court, Ehsanul Islam Sadequee's voice could be heard on the soundtrack: "This is where our brothers attacked the Pentagon."

"Allahu akbar," responds young Ahmed. God is great.

How "anti-Islamic" an activity is that? Certainly, not all Muslims want to fly planes into the Pentagon. But those that do it in the name of their faith. And anyone of a mind to engage in an "anti-Islamic activity" will find quite a lot of support from leading Islamic scholars. Take, for example, the "moderate" imam Yusuf al-Qaradawi, who once observed that "we will conquer Europe, we will conquer America. Not through the sword, but through da'wa" – i.e., the non-incendiary form of Islamic outreach.

What could be more moderate than that? No wonder Mr. al-Qaradawi is an associate of the Islamic Society of Boston, currently building the largest mosque in the northeast, and is also a pal of the present mayor of London. The impeccably moderate mullah was invited to address a British conference sponsored by the police and the Department of Work and Pensions on "Our Children, Our Future." And, when it comes to the children, Imam al-Qaradawi certainly has their future all mapped out. "Israelis might have nuclear bombs," he said, "but we have the children bomb, and these human bombs must continue until liberation."

As Maurice Chevalier used to say, thank heaven for little girls, they blow up in the most delightful way.

The British home secretary would respond that not all moderate imams are as gung-ho to detonate moppets. Which is true. But, by insisting on re-labeling terrorism committed by Muslims in the name of Islam as "anti-Islamic activity," Her Majesty's government is engaging not merely in Orwellian Newspeak but in self-defeating Orwellian Newspeak. The broader message it sends is that ours is a weak culture so unconfident and insecure that if you bomb us and kill us our first urge is to find a way to flatter and apologize to you.

Here's another news item out of Britain this week: A new version of "The Three Little Pigs" was turned down for some "excellence in education" award on the grounds that "the use of pigs raises cultural issues" and, as a result, the judges "had concerns for the Asian community" – i.e., Muslims. Non-Muslim Asians – Hindus and Buddhists – have no "concerns" about anthropomorphized pigs.

This is now a recurring theme in British life. A while back, it was a local government council telling workers not to have knickknacks on their desks representing Winnie-the-Pooh's porcine sidekick, Piglet.

As Martin Niemoller famously said,
first they came for Piglet, and I did not speak out because I was not a Disney character and, if I was, I'm more of an Eeyore. So then they came for the Three Little Pigs, and Babe, and by the time I realized my country had turned into a 24/7 Looney Tunes it was too late, because there was no Porky Pig to stammer "Th-th-th-that's all, folks!" and bring the nightmare to an end.

Just for the record, it's true that Muslims, like Jews, are not partial to bacon and sausages. But the Quran has nothing to say about cartoon pigs. Likewise, it is silent on the matter of whether one can name a teddy bear after Muhammad.

What all these stories have in common is the excessive deference to Islam. If "The Three Little Pigs" are verbotenwhen Muslims do not yet comprise 10 percent of the British population, what else will be on the blacklist by the time they're, say, 20 percent?

Elizabeth May, leader of Canada's Green Party (the fourth-largest political party), recently spoke out against her country's continued military contribution to the international force in Afghanistan. "More ISAF forces from a Christian/Crusader heritage," she said, "will continue to fuel an insurgency that has been framed as a jihad."

As it happens, Canada did not send troops to the Crusades, mainly because the fun was over several centuries before Canada came in existence. Six years ago, it was mostly the enemy who took that line, Osama bin Laden raging at the Great Satan for the fall of Andalusia in 1492, which, with the best will in the world, it's hard to blame on Halliburton. But since then, the pathologies of Islamism have proved surprisingly contagious among Western elites.

You remember the Three Little Pigs? One builds a house of straw, and another of sticks, and both get blown down by the Big Bad Wolf. Western civilization is a mighty house of bricks, but who needs a Big Bad Wolf when the pig's so eager to demolish it himself?

The Muslim siege of Liverpool hospital, Sydney.

Warning: If you follow this link, Google may put up an "Offensive site: Do you wish to continue? hurtle....go ahead. Who cares what Google finds offensive. They are known as "The Great Firewall of China" because they rat out freedom-loving Chinese bloggers to the Thought Police.

From the Anglo-Australian
or, Why we need bloggers, because the press isn't about to cover this.

Our law enforcement officials have NO IDEA how to battle this. We are not talking about crime, but a foreign invasion and war being waged on us by immigrant Muslim cab drivers, engineers, doctors and teachers.

"Featured here are some illustrations as to how Australia is being irrevocably changed, this transformation isn't taking place because of immigration per se, it's occurring because an Islamic Shari'a Template is being indelibly drawn slowly though assiduously across the Australian landscape, Australian law and custom it would seem can't stand up to Islam, it's erroneous to say otherwise, as a boldly encroaching de facto Islamic Shari'a Law surfaces,. Suffice to say multi culturalism is the poisoned chalice plied by an empowered Islam, ensuring them success upon success that leaves an apprehensive populace in complete bewilderment.

The Cronulla protest, rally that turned nasty was a huge wake up call to Australians, the drunken yobo's who hijacked the rally gave the worlds media the chance to portray Australians as racist, neglecting in their news items the legitimate claims of the protest organisers who were demanding action from the authorities to protect their young against premeditated attacks by roaming packs of Muslim men, sexual harassment on young women, a ruse at times to set up their male companions (the real targets) for vengeful assault, it is public knowledge that these forays had been going on for a number of years and culminated with the attempted protest rally. The revenge attacks by the Muslims in contrast, were conducted in military fashion by armed Muslim men. It was a miracle that no lives were lost as they blitzed the Eastern seaboard suburbs through to Cronulla in convoy, two men were feloniously injured and the property damage was immense, houses and cars damaged, innocent citizens were attacked and fled for their lives when they attempted to venture out to see what the commotion was about, it was not unlike and approaching the scale of the Paris intifada uprisings.

Now however another Islamic induced maelstrom, Jihad albeit staged as a demographic sortie, this Islamic action is unprecedented within Australia, we might call it the "Siege of Liverpool Hospital"it's indicative of where all Muslim societies have an obligation to live by divine law Shari'a, to push for that outcome, with an added bonus that it predisposes the rights of all others, displacing the existing order of the infidel, to heel in conformity as to Allah's will."

This is simply beyond belief. The police have surrendered their responsibilities and are now in CYA mode. How else can you describe this war on civilization?

Tim Priest, Aussie cop, explains it all in this report.

I wonder how long it will take before this begins to happen here on a regular basis. And when it does, will the press willingly ignore it, as seems to be the case in Europe and Australia?

I thought Israel was the canary in the coal mine, but maybe that canary is so far gone, such a tiny, little country, after all. The world thinks itself better off without this bedrock of civilization.
Welcome to the consequences of your Jew Hatred, world.

EU establishing detention camps in Africa to thwart wave of illegal immigration

GERTZ:The European Union has been quietly building detention camps for illegal immigrants in North Africa.

The detention camps were meant to stop the flood of illegal migrants from North Africa to Western Europe. So far, detention centers have been established in Libya, Morocco and Tunisia.

Italy and Spain have been the biggest sponsors of the North African detention centers. Italy plans to build at least one detention camp and intends to fund another two such facilities.

The detention centers were ordered after EU states concluded that they were unable to block the flow of Africans through the Mediterranean and Atlantic Ocean to southern Europe. Until recently, some North African countries, particularly Libya, refused to cooperate with EU countries.

I have asked this before, WHY DOES ITALY HAVE A NAVY?

garibaldi_america.jpg

The USS America, and Italian Carrier Garibaldi (click for larger image)

Today, Libya has taken a 180 degree turn and was destroying immigrant shantytowns and deporting illegal en masse.

The use of detention centers has aroused anger in North Africa. In Algeria, dozens of families have filed suit against the Spanish and Moroccan embassies. The families said Spain has detained their children and kept them incommunicado.

The families said at least 40 Algerians who left their country for Spain from September 2006 through January 2007 were missing. They said they were urging Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika to intervene.

cavour_2004.jpg

Despite increased efforts, Africans continue to flood Europe. Officials said 17,000 illegal immigrants arrived in Spain in illegal boats during the first 11 months of 2007, most of whom landing on the Canary Islands. A total of 37,647 illegal migrants arrived in Spain in the same period of 2006.
Hmmm..... just imagine for a moment the world reaction if america established DETENTION KAMPS in Mexico for illegal aliens.

Monte Carlo Hotel On Fire In Las Vegas

UPDATE: The fire is contained now.
Hopefully, no one is hurt.

This is not really news which I would typically post on Infidel Bloggers Alliance, but it seems there might be something strange going on here.

Drudge has a post up (which is not accessible for some reason) claiming that the Bellgaio and the New York New York are both being evacuated.

Why?

I don't think they are that close to each other. Look at the photo.

Free Republic also notes this:

Why evacuate Bellagio? It’s a mile away - north of the huge CityCenter construction site.
LAS VEGAS -- A spectacular fire is raging atop the landmark Monte Carlo Resort and Casino on the Las Vegas strip, consuming large portions of the complex's top floors and sending plumes of thick black smoke into the air.
Fire crews on top of the 3,000-room hotel at
3770 Las Vegas Blvd. S.re trying to contain the blaze, which broke out shortly after 11 a.m.
Four workers are trapped on the roof. There is no word yet on what happened to them.
Four hotels have been evacuated -- Bellagio; New York, New York; MGM and City Center.
The blaze began at the top of the hotel and has spread down into four different parts, including the roof, top corner and a couple of floors down. There are 32 floors and about 3,000 people staying at the hotel.
Guests were spotted looking out of hotel windows, and guests were gambling up until a recent evacuation.
Guests who are attempting to check in are being turned away.
Debris is falling from the blaze, and it is catching other parts of the hotel on fire.
Las Vegas Boulevard is closed from Harmon to Tropicana avenues.
There is no word on the cause of the blaze or whether or not there have been any injuries.

"The World Knows This"

They're at it again.

TheUN Human Rights Council voted 30-1 to condemn Israel for "grave violations."
With all the problems in the world, the Sudan, the Congo, Kenya, etc., the UN chooses to go after Israel? For God's sake.

The world knows that Hamas, a murderous terrorist organization, was elected by the people of Gaza to murder and terrorize the Jews of Israel. The world knows that the UN's condemnations of Israel are a sham. The world knows that it is looking the other way other to give itself plausible deniability in the perpetration of another Holocaust.

From Atlas Shrugs:

An emergency session today of the UN’s 47-nation Human Rights Council condemned Israel for “grave violations of the human and humanitarian rights of Palestinian civilians,” for “undermining” the peace process, “incessant and repeated Israeli military attacks,” and causing “loss of life and injuries among Palestinian civilians, including women and children.”

The resolution, which made no mention of Hamas rocket attacks or their Israeli victims, was adopted by 30 votes to 1 (Canada), with 15 abstentions from European Union and other countries.

UN Watch's spokesperson Hillel Neuer spoke out against this travesty before the members of the Human Rights Council. Here's video:

And, here's a transription of part of his speech which is truly epochal:

Mr. President,
The nations assembled in this special session on the Gaza Strip, convened by the Arab and Islamic states, face an immediate question. On the proposal to condemn Israel, for the alleged crime of targeting civilians, should they vote for, or against?

Let us consider the proposed resolution. To understand its purpose we are guided best not by the science that studies the conduct of governments, but that which studies the mind.

In psychology, attributing one’s own malicious impulses to others is known as projection. Mr. President, the resolution before us constitutes a classic case of such projection.

It is, after all, Hamas, Islamic Jihad, and the other Palestinian terrorist organizations, who deliberately fire rockets—over 200 in the past week alone—at innocent civilians in Sderot and other Israeli towns. It is they who attack from populated areas, using their fellow Palestinians as human shields. It is they who reject the very notion of a distinction between combatants and civilians.

Israel, like the rest of the civilized world, does the opposite. In exercising its right and obligation under international law to defend its citizens from such attacks, Israel risks the lives of its own soldiers to avoid harming civilians. To Israel, causing a civilian casualty is an unintended tragedy; to Hamas, it is a cause for celebration. The world knows this.

The supporters of those who fire rockets at nursery schools summoned us here to accuse Israel of violating international humanitarian law, when in reality it is they who deny—in word and deed—the very premise of that code.

Let us also consider who initiated this session: Syria, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan—each of whom just received the lowest possible rating, Not Free, in the annual world survey by Freedom House. Another is Cuba, which just held an election where the ballots had only one candidate. Are these to be the world’s arbiters of human rights?

The truth is that this session was fixed from the start. Those who sponsored it could introduce a resolution declaring the earth to be flat, and it would be assured of the same automatic majority.

The real question we face is something deeper. Can civilization survive—the values of democracy, freedom and basic humanity—when its basic ideas are, in such high forums, everywhere under assault?

That will not be decided here today, but every international declaration has its influence.

Those countries who genuinely care about the future—of the Middle East, of a credible UN, of civilization—will vote No.

Thank you, Mr. President.

Joyride: Teen Arrested In Hijack Plot Had Mock Cockpit In His Bedroom

Authorities are not sure whether he planned to crash the plane. And, of course, being that he is a teenager, we will not hear his name, even if it was Mohammed:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - A teenage passenger from California was arrested in Nashville for plotting to hijack a plane from Los Angeles to Nashville, the FBI said Friday.

FBI spokesman George Bolds told The Associated Press the 16-year-old boy was removed from Southwest Airlines Flight 284 Tuesday night by authorities at Nashville International Airport and found with "suspicious" items.

Bolds said the teen had handcuffs, rope and duct tape in his bag and was believed to be traveling alone. The juvenile's name has not been released.

"His plan had a low probability of success," Bolds said.

Bolds said it has not been determined if the boy was trying to crash the plane. He said authorities searched the teen's home in California and found a mock cockpit.

The teen is believed to be suicidal, Bolds said. Bolds said he could not comment further on the teen's mental condition because he is a minor.

Interesting that authorities can say he was suicidal, but can not comment futher on his mental condition because of his minor status.

That is bullshit.

To say someone is suicidal is a profound comment on their mental condition.

I hate it when the "authorities" lie to us. Maybe I wouldn't hate it so much is they at least gave us the dignity of telling us believable lies.

Storm Track Appeasement: What You Get When Appeasing Islamists

“Appeasers believe that if you keep on throwing steaks to a tiger, the tiger will become a vegetarian. Heywood Broun

So, Spain? How’s that appeasement working out? No so good, huh?

It seems that appeasers never learn. Spain sided with the Islamists when they voted in a government that withdrew Spain’s support for the war in Iraq and other dreamed up crimes against the dominance of fundamentalist Islam.

Like the appeasers of the 1930s, they fed the crocodile hoping it would eat them last. But it seems the crocodile’s appetite has grown considerable and Spain is once again on the menu.

Muslim Invocations In State Legislatures

(All emphases by Always On Watch)

For centuries, state legislatures all over the United States have opened with prayer, sometimes offered by a man of the cloth. In the past few decades, legislatures have invited in Christian priests and ministers, Buddhist priests, and, especially since 9/11, imams.

According to Radio Iowa, an imam in that state opened the House of Representatives 2008 legislative session with a four-minute prayer, which has led to some controversy:
The 2008 Iowa Legislature has convened and the opening prayer in the Iowa House of Representatives was delivered by a Muslim. Imam Muhammad Khan of the Islamic Center of Des Moines spoke first in Arabic.

"I seek refuge in God against the accursed Satan in the name of God, most gracious, most merciful," Khan said in English at the beginning of his prayer. Khan made no specific mention of the war in Iraq or foreign affairs, but he called God the "master of the day of judgment" and asked for "victory over those who disbelieve."
"Refuge in God against the accursed Satan"? What could that mean? The Pilot Tribune provides a different wording for that phrase:
"Protection from the great Satan"
Also according to the Pilot Tribune,
Pastor Steve Smith of the Evangelical Free Church in Albert City is among those concerned about the Muslim prayer. Rev. Smith admits that he doesn't know about all the levels of Muslim but knows that the Jihadists believe those in the U.S. are the great Satan.

Rev. Smith also wants to point out the mention of "victory over those who disbelieve." He feels "this is a request in the Iowa Legislature for God to grant the Muslims victory over every non-muslim. Not a request for salvation." Smith takes it as a gesture not of prayer but more as a political statement...
Here is another excerpt from the imam's prayer:
"...We ask that you guide our legislators and give them the wisdom and knowledge to tackle the difficult problems that face us today in order to eliminate the senseless crimes on humanity...."
Let's be fair here. Maybe "the great Satan" is an incorrect translation. And maybe that last excerpt has nothing to do with the ummah. However, according to Hot Air, there seems to be no controversy over this particular phrase:
“victory over those who disbelieve”
Could that victory be a reference to jihad and Dar al-Islam?

Hot Air also reminds readers of the following:
[I]t’s not the first time an imam has taken the opportunity of a convocation to turn the rhetoric up to 11.
The same posting at Hot Air states the following:
Remember that radical-tinged imam who prayed a noxious prayer at the Democrats’ winter meeting a while back? Well, he has an ally who graced the Texas Senate with similar incantations this week. His name is Imam Yusuf Kavakci of the Dallas Central Mosque, and he was invited by a bi-partisan pair for the invocation. Follow the link; he’s a Khomeini apologist among other things.
Hot Air also has the audio of Imam Yusuf Kavokci.

If you are in America, maybe you should check to see what's been going on in your state legislature.
