In some parts of the North West Frontier Province (in Pakistan), people are enlisting in anti-Taliban squads to take on the jihadists who are blamed for a spate of abductions and arson attacks on girls’ schools, rural clinics and cyber cafes.

Sixty-three percent of Americans say that if diplomacy fails to solve the Iranian nuclear crisis, they would approve of an Israeli strike on Iran's nuclear sites, a new poll has found.

The poll, conducted by Public Opinion Strategies and Greenberg Quinlan Rosner Research and commissioned by The Israel Project, also finds that 87% of US voters feel that a nuclear-armed Iran would pose a threat to the US.

Meanwhile, 80% of Americans said it was likely Iran would use nuclear weapons if it acquired them.

The threat of Iran is apparently felt across the political spectrum, with 85% of Democrats and 97% of Republicans believing the Islamic Republic represents a serious threat to the US.

However, 62% of those polled also felt that it was still possible to find a diplomatic solution to the crisis.

Sorry, but that's a dream, folks. That's okay if you are prepared for the reality.

The approval rate for American military action against Iran was lower than that of an Israeli operation, with 55% supporting targeted strikes by the US and its allies.

Sigh....the american people are beleaguered and need leadership. Bush has FAILED as we can see from this number. 80% feel Iran would use nukes, but only slightly over half want to do something about that, the rest praying that Israel under Olmert/Livni would take action AND succeed. Puuuuuuulllleeeeeeeeeeeeeze !

The principal of an Islamic boarding school on Buffalo’s East Side has been forced to resign after allegations that he was sexually involved with one of his students and that he claimed to have taken her as a second wife.

Evidence suggests Mohammed Ibrahim Memon, a father of seven, persuaded Sajidah Khan, then 21, to marry under Islamic law as a pretense to sleep with her. [...]

How did this Denver Police Seargent get it in his mind that this arrest was legal, or for that matter, Constitutional? How did this Denver Police Seargent get it into his mind that he could get away with this kind of behavior?

DENVER--Police in Denver arrested an ABC News producer today as he and a camera crew were attempting to take pictures on a public sidewalk of Democratic Senators and VIP donors leaving a private meeting at the Brown Palace Hotel.

Police on the scene refused to tell ABC lawyers the charges against the producer, Asa Eslocker, who works with the ABC News investigative unit.

A cigar-smoking Denver police sergeant, accompanied by a team of five other officers, first put his hands on Eslocker's neck, then twisted the producers arm behind him to put on handcuffs.

A police official later told lawyers for ABC News that Eslocker is being charged with trespass, interference, and failure to follow a lawful order. He also said the arrest followed a signed complaint from the Brown Palace Hotel.

What's this? Another Madrassah In The United States?

Regular readers of IBA know that I frequently write about the Islamic Saudi Academy, here at IBA, at Northern Virginiastan, and at my own sites. Because the ISA is in the Northern Virginia, where I live, I have particular interest in that specific madrassah, so I also have Google alerts set up for "Islamic Saudi Academy."

The following recently popped up in my Google alerts and is about a madrassah in Central Ohio; of course, the word madrassah is never mentioned, although the photo at the aforementioned link shows all the females wearing the hijab - the symbol of support of shari'a law:

Islamic school hopes sun rises on plans for expansion

Sunrise Academy, the private K-8 Islamic school located in Hilliard, is filled to capacity this school year and looking to expand.

"We are in the process of looking for two buildings: one for a high school and one to purchase on the East Side to start an elementary over there," said Director Leah Mohiuddin.

"That is in the works. That is what our goal is," she said.

That's how the Islamic Saudi Academy started out, too. I watched it happen before my very eyes.

Generally speaking, officials are seeking high school space in Northwest Columbus.

A new elementary school probably would open with grades K-3 and expand one grade per year through eighth grade, she said. That is the model Sunrise Academy followed when it opened its doors a dozen years ago in a former library at 5657 Scioto Darby Road.

Another similarity to the Islamic Saudi Academy, which first bought out a private school, then got, for a time, rent-free space from Fairfax County Public Schools. Again, I watched it happen before my very eyes.

Is there a pattern with these Moslem schools in the United States? Looks like it. What's going on in your neighborhood?

Enrollment this school year is 340.

"We are full to capacity. There is a waiting list in every grade level. We turned away 200 to 300 children," said Mohiuddin.

"We just have so many children in our community. Parents are all looking for an education for their children in an environment where they can learn without being afraid of who they are. That is what we offer. We are not able to get every child in here, which is a shame," said Mohiuddin.

Sunrise students don't have to worry about intimidation by students who do not understand Islamic practice, including clothing style.

"In public school, people pull head scarves off the girls. Kids still call Muslim kids terrorists. It's sad. Education is the key and we just have to keep educating people," said Mohiuddin.

Girls and women may choose to wear a scarf or hijab in public for the sake of modesty as well as to prevent others from judging them based on their looks, several young Muslim women said in an interview last year.

Although Islam is the common religion for all at Sunrise, students' families come from 32 countries, each with its own cultural heritage.

Included are families with backgrounds from Pakistan, India, Afghanistan, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Somalia, Palestine and Puerto Rico.

The school is so diverse that Muskingum College and Ashland University send their education students and future teachers to Sunrise for diversity training, said Mohiuddin.

Members of the general public sometimes are surprised to hear classes are conducted in English and, as is the case in public schools, services are provided for those who are learning English as a second language.

Sunrise requires students to take classes in the Arabic language as well as in Islamic studies, said Mohiuddin....

Note that the author of the above article is written by the director of the school, and she is quite fond of quoting herself. Let's watch to see if she gets into the same trouble that Abdalla I.M. Al-Shabnan, head of the Islamic Saudi Academy, just squirmed out of.

As noted above, the name of the madrassah in Ohio is Sunrise Academy. Check out details about the "academy" at the school's official web site. The mission statement alone is enough to make you gag, provided that you know how to read through the code words:

Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama's big speech on Thursday night will be delivered from an elaborate columned stage resembling a miniature Greek temple.

The stage, similar to structures used for rock concerts, has been set up at the 50-yard-line, the midpoint of Invesco Field, the stadium where the Denver Broncos' National Football League team plays.

Some 80,000 supporters will see Obama appear from between plywood columns painted off-white, reminiscent of Washington's Capitol building or even the White House, to accept the party's nomination for president.

He will stride out to a raised platform to a podium that can be raised from beneath the floor.

The show should provide a striking image for the millions of Americans watching on television as Obama delivers a speech accepting the Democratic presidential nomination.

Politicians in past elections have typically spoken from the convention site itself, but the Obama campaign liked the idea of having their man speak to a larger, stadium-sized crowd not far from where the Democratic National Convention is being held, at the Denver pro basketball arena.

Obama was taking a page from the campaign book of John Kennedy in 1960 when the future president delivered his acceptance speech to 80,000 people in the Los Angeles Coliseum.

Once Obama speaks, confetti will rain down on him and fireworks will be fired off from locations around the stadium wall.

Democratic convention organizers said the theme for the evening is "Change We Can Believe In," which has been a consistent message of Obama's presidential campaign.

Oscar-winning actress and singer Jennifer Hudson will sing the national anthem that night.

Old videos appear to show a radical Muslim named Khalid Al-Mansour helped Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama gain acceptance into Harvard Law.

Civil rights activist Percy Sutton recalled being solicited by a man named Dr. Khalid A-Mansour to write a letter of recommendation to help Obama gain acceptance into Harvard Law in this undated television interview available HERE.

"I was introduced to him [Obama] by a friend who was raising money for him and the friends name was Dr. Khalid al Mansour from Texas,” Sutton said. “He is the principle adviser to one of the world's richest men. He told me about Obama. He wrote to me about him and his introduction was 'there is a young man that has applied to Harvard and I know that you have a few friends left there because you used to go up there to speak, would you please write a letter in support of him?'...I wrote a letter in support of him to my friends at Harvard saying to them I thought there was a genius that was going to be available and I sure hoped they would treat him kindly."

There are many videos available on the internet featuring a man named Khalid Al-Mansour, who describes himself as an author, scholar and businessman, blasting the Jewish culture and Christianity and preaching the virtues of Islam, reminiscent of the controversial clips discovered of Obama’s longtime friend and former pastor Rev. Jeremiah Wright that rocked headlines earlier this spring.

In one of the videos, titled “Christians Designed Discrimination” uploaded by a YouTube user named IslamStudios, Al-Mansour said, “White people don't feel bad, whatever you do to them, they deserve it, God wants you to do it and that's when you cut out the nose, cut out the ears, take flesh out of their body, don't worry because God wants you to do it."

He also draws lines between whites and African Americans. “The Christianity that white people got and the Christianity that black people got was not the same,” he added.

In this video, Al-Monsour said white people fear Islam. “The whites are saying we can’t take over Islam, we are going to destroy it. They don’t care if you become a Buddhist, they don’t care if you are a Confuscist, you can be a Christian, you can be anything in this world you want, the only thing they are afraid of is Islam because there is 1 billion 200 million, they don’t want you with that league!

And, of course, we already know about Obama's friendship with the unrepentant Pentagon-bombing terrorist William Ayers.

Obama chooses the methods of Khalid bin Mahfouz for the US election

No matter what we think of the advertisement of the American Issues Project, which seeks to make Obama the bud of someone he claims as only a very slight acquaintance, and they claim he is linked to since launching his career in the 90's - the reaction of 'the Obama' is to crush his opposition, and thus intimidate others to silence in the manner of the Saudi terrorist financier Khalid bin Mahfouz, who sued author Rachel Ehrenfeld over Funding Evil, in England, where truth is no defense.

Similarly and significantly here, they do not attack the case made with such vigor but rather the financing of the authoring group.

If the Obama camp cannot defeat the criticisms of what they consider a quack, cracked up, case by a fringe group except through INTIMIDATION and SILENCING, none of them should be running for or advising those seeking, high office.

Imagine for a moment the minions of George Bush quashing the '9/11 Truth' fools through legal intimidation, and financial intimidation. The din would have filled the galaxy with sound. And rightfully so.

It is in the marketplace of ideas they must win, and they betray their great fears of the kind of competition which is ENDEMIC in our national substitute for coups, revolutions and rioting mobs, the election we hold every 4 years since, oh about 1789.

Obama should be employing a vigorous application of sunlight, not the thick curtains of legal intimidation.

Obama camp: Prosecute Simmons

Obama general counsel Bob Bauer today sent a second, sharper letter to the Justice Department, directly attacking the Dallas billionaire funding a harsh attack ad, Harold Simmons.

"We reiterate our request that the Department of Justice fulfill its commitment to take prompt action to investigate and to prosecute the American issues Project, and we further request that the Department of Justice investigate and prosecute Howard (sic) Simmons for a knowing and willful violation of the individual aggregate contribution limits," he wrote.

He called the group's activities "patently illegal."

Bauer made the case that Simmons' group fulfilling its a real nonprofit charter because it hasn't spent any money on anything other than attacking Obama.

A group such as AIP must spend more than 50% of its money on other activity. This is certainly a legal chimera to ensure that groups are not formed just to make ads, which of course, they are. This kind of law simply raises the economic bar to no real effect. Be CERTAIN that Moveon/Soros is ready with their assets. Who cares? Let's hear it all.

The American Issues Project released a statement responding to the letter.

"Having failed in its attempts to get our legal, factual and fully-supported ad off the air, Barack Obama's campaign now wants to put our donors in prison for exercising their right to free speech," said Ed Martin, the group's president. "These over-the-top bullying tactics are reminiscent of the kind of censorship one would see in a Stalinist dictatorship, with the only difference being that those guys generally had to wait until they were in power to throw people who disagreed with them into jail."

The group said its ad would continue to air through the end of the Democratic National Convention. Simmons has spent almost $3 million to air the ad, which can be seen on the group's site.

It's worth noting that this isn't the first time Bauer has called for criminal investigations and prosecutions into the donors to independent groups critical of Obama, including one supporting John Edwards and another supporting Hillary Rodham Clinton. His words did have the effect of scaring their donors and consultants, but haven't yet appeared to result in any prosecution.

I have the words of a great and real democrat, a true man OF the people, a killer investigator,

and a fearless man who made mistakes as well because he was not afraid to, for these liberal fascists, who would be deep into BUSHITLER analogies if the shoe was on the other foot ..."If you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen."

These people prove with each and every critical action they take, such as the sliding reaction to the Russian invasion of Georgia, they are unfit for the jobs they seek.

It is not the attack ads which define the bitter partisanship, it is the actions of those who wish to silence all that they regard as unfair which define it, and move us all to the next level.

If they use the courts to try to silence opposition, and to intimidate others with less money to fight in court, what will be the reaction to that in the long run, do you think? But then, of course, all these people care about is November, and devil take the hindmost.

I have been critical of the excess of AIP ad, but that is all. As to this from Obama, this is a great shame, and as Politico notes, it is not the first time. These people are arrogantly unfit for this responsibility.

Swiss foreign minister favors direct talks with Bin Laden

Agence France Press is reporting that Switzerland's moonbat foreign minister Micheline Calmy-Rey (pictured here in the obligatory hijab at a meeting with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad) told a gathering of Swiss diplomats on Monday that she favors direct talks between her country and Al-Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden (Hat Tip: Shy Guy via Dhimmi Watch).

Micheline Calmy-Rey, who has raised both eyebrows and hackles with her controversial style, told Swiss ambassadors gathered in the capital Bern that they needed to talk to "heavyweight political figures" on the world stage even if they are considered persona non grata by other powers.

"This even goes as far as sitting down at the same table as Al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden," she said.

Switzerland does not have any list of banned organisations to which it will not talk, unlike other countries.

Calmy-Rey said that groups as diverse as Hezbollah, the FARC guerrillas in Colombia, Tamil Tiger rebels in Sri Lanka and the Lord's Resistance Army in Uganda are all "essential in the search for a resolution" of different conflicts worldwide.

She stressed however that any dialogue did not mean "accepting the unacceptable," and conceded that it could sometimes lead to tensions and "complex political blockages".

Does Calmy-Rey believe that any of these terror organizations are actually going to behave like states and respect her country's neutrality? When a state talks with a 'revolution,' it legitimizes the 'revolution' granting it power and credibility that it does not deserve. Amir Taheri pointed out in the Wall Street Journal while discussing Iran three months ago why having 'talks' with 'revolutions' doesn't work:

The Arabs, especially Egypt and Saudi Arabia, have been negotiating with the mullahs for years – the Egyptians over restoring diplomatic ties cut off by Tehran, and the Saudis on measures to stop Shiite-Sunni killings in the Muslim world – with nothing to show for it. Since 1993, the Russians have tried to achieve agreement on the status of the Caspian Sea through talks with Tehran, again without results.

The reason is that Iran is gripped by a typical crisis of identity that afflicts most nations that pass through a revolutionary experience. The Islamic Republic does not know how to behave: as a nation-state, or as the embodiment of a revolution with universal messianic pretensions. Is it a country or a cause?

A nation-state wants concrete things such as demarcated borders, markets, access to natural resources, security, influence, and, of course, stability – all things that could be negotiated with other nation-states. A revolution, on the other hand, doesn't want anything in particular because it wants everything.

Iran at least has a defined territory. Al-Qaeda does not. What Calmy-Rey hopes to accomplish by talking to al-Qaeda is anyone's guess. But whatever it is, she's not likely to accomplish it.
