Israel Fires Into Syria After Golan Attack on Troops

From Reuters:
(Reuters) - Israel said it fired into Syria on Sunday and destroyed a machinegun position in the Golan Heights from where shots had been fired at Israeli soldiers in a further spillover of the Syrian civil war along a tense front.
It was not immediately clear whether Israel held Syrian troops or rebels responsible for what a spokesman for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said had been a deliberate attack on Israeli patrols in the occupied territory.
Israeli forces "destroyed a Syrian machine gun nest that fired twice in the last 24 hours on Israeli patrols operating to safeguard the border," the spokesman, Ofir Gendelman, said on his Twitter page.

Pope Francis: "Intensify" Catholic "dialogue" with Islam

All "Inter-faith dialogue" with Islam is Ideological Jizya

From Robert Spencer at Jihad Watch:
I am all for dialogue between Muslims and Christians when it is honest and not based on false pretenses. There doesn't seem to be any use to dialogue that ignores difficulties and points of disagreement rather than confronting them. They won't go away if ignored. I discuss the genuine prospects for dialogue and its pitfalls at length in my book Not Peace But A Sword, which will be published next week by Catholic Answers.
One thing that must be recognized is that for many Muslim spokesmen and leaders, dialogue with adherents of other religions is simply a proselytizing mechanism designed to convert the "dialogue" partner to Islam, as the Muslim Brotherhood theorist Sayyid Qutb explained: "The chasm between Islam and Jahiliyyah [the society of unbelievers] is great, and a bridge is not to be built across it so that the people on the two sides may mix with each other, but only so that the people of Jahiliyyah may come over to Islam."
In line with this, 138 Muslim scholars wrote to Pope Benedict XVI, inviting him to dialogue. The title of the document they sent to him was A Common Word Between Us and You. Reading the entire Qur’anic verse from which the phrase “a common word between us and you” was taken makes the Common Word initiative’s agenda clear: “Say: ‘People of the Book! Come now to a word common between us and you, that we serve none but God, and that we associate not aught with Him, and do not some of us take others as Lords, apart from God.’ And if they turn their backs, say: ‘Bear witness that we are Muslims’” (3:64). Since Muslims consider the Christian confession of the divinity of Christ to be an unacceptable association of a partner with God, this verse is saying that the “common word” that Muslims and the People of the Book should agree on is that Christians should discard one of the central tenets of their faith and essentially become Muslims. Not a promising basis for an honest and mutually respectful dialogue of equals.
"'Intensify' dialogue with Islam: Pope to Roman Catholic Church," from PTI, March 22 (thanks to Milad):
Vatican City: Pope Francis on Friday called for the Roman Catholic Church to "intensify" its dialogue with Islam, echoing hopes in the Muslim world for better ties with the Vatican during his reign.
"It is important to intensify dialogue among the various religions and I am thinking particularly of dialogue with Islam," the new pontiff said in an address to foreign ambassadors at the Vatican.
Francis's predecessor Benedict XVI was seen by some Muslim leaders as hostile to Islam and the change at the top had been welcomed by the 57-member Organisation of Islamic Cooperation and Al-Azhar, Sunni Islam's highest seat of learning. Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, head of the Saudi-based OIC, said earlier this month that he hoped "the relationship between Islam and Christianity will regain its cordiality and sincere friendship".
Mahmud Azab, adviser for inter-faith affairs to Al-Azhar imam Ahmed al-Tayyeb in Cairo, also told AFP earlier, "As soon as a new policy emerges, we will resume the dialogue with the Vatican". Al-Azhar broke off ties in 2011 after Benedict called for the protection of Christian minorities following a suicide bombing at a church in Egypt.
So apparently the new policy that Azab wants is for the pope never to criticize the Muslim persecution of Christians. Then we'll all be great friends -- and what's a few burnt churches and dead bodies when we're getting on so famously?
Benedict was also heavily criticised early in his reign when he recounted a Byzantine emperor's description of the Muslim Prophet Mohammed as a warmonger who spread evil teachings.
In his address on Friday, Francis also called for the Church to dialogue more with non-believers -- returning to an effort begun during Benedict's reign amid rising secularism in the Western world.
"It is also important to intensify outreach to non-believers so that the differences which divide and hurt us may never prevail but rather the desire to build true links of friendship," he said. True friendship cannot be built on false pretenses.

How to Stop the Modern Rise of Islamic Fundamentalism

War requires money. The rise of Islamic fundamentalism is being funded by OPEC oil money — the Muslim Brotherhood is funded by Saudi oil money, the Muslim Students Association is funded by Saudi oil money, the Taliban is funded by Saudi oil money, the OIC (Organization of Islamic Cooperation) is funded by Saudi oil money, etc.

The members of the worldwide army of Islamic fundamentalists are able to work full time advancing the orthodox Islamic agenda while you and I have to go to work and can only defend ourselves part time. Their bills are paid by Saudi oil money, so they can devote themselves to it and they have all the resources they need to push it forward.

Saudi Arabia is the most influential member of OPEC, and OPEC keeps raising the world price of oil, reaping the Saudi princes excessive profits. Saudi Arabia produces more oil per year than any other country.

And they're using their oil revenue to help Islamic fundamentalism take over the Muslim institutions of the world. With less than two percent of the Muslim population, the Saudis own or control ninety percent of all Islamic institutions of the world. The Saudis are Wahhabis, which is an Islamic "back to the texts" movement. They are believers in the terrifying brilliance of Islamic texts and are working to make the principles universal. They intend to achieve the Islamic texts' prime directive — the spread of Islam to every corner of the earth by any means necessary.

The Saudi Wahhabis are building or taking over mosques all over the world. They do it with oil money. And they've built an estimated 20,000 madrassas worldwide with oil money — schools that teach Muslim boys only Islamic fundamentalism.

CUTTING OFF JIHAD AT THE SOURCE

War is expensive. The first two jihads were paid for with jizya since most of the conquered lands were occupied by Jews and Christians, many of whom did not give up their religion and paid the jizya tax instead.

When that source of money dried up (as the Jews and Christians were killed, converted or fled), Islam went into a kind of dormancy because jihad requires money and backward Islamic countries didn't have much money.

With the creation of OPEC, we have seen an escalating increase in Islamic jihad around the world. Saudi Arabia saw their income climb dramatically as oil prices have risen since OPEC first flexed its power in the 1973 oil embargo. Nine of the twelve OPEC nations are Islamic, including Iran, which has the money to pursue nuclear weapons and plenty left over to support insurgencies in Syria, Palestine, and Iraq.

The free world is being infiltrated and attacked in many different ways: Textbookscampus influencedismantling free speech, building mosques and madrassas, printing and distributing fundamentalist literature, influencing the media, sleeper cells, lobbyists in Washington, DC (Saudi Arabia has 100 lobbyists), the OIC's influence over the United Nations, and the list goes on and on.

This is all being paid for with oil money.

Obviously, we need to do something about this. We need to curtail the flow of money to OPEC countries. Drilling more oil in our own countries cannot solve it (here's why). Using less oil can't solve it either (for the same reason: OPEC responds by reducing its output and thus raising the world price of oil). Something much bigger and bolder is needed.

We need to strip oil of its strategic status.

Orthodox Muslims may be spending more money on this war than we are, but many times in history a weaker force defeated a stronger force by concentrating its forces at the decisive point. There are many places to concentrate our forces, many places orthodox Islam is infiltrating and undermining. But there is only one decisive point; only one place that can cause the rest to collapse: Oil money.

Oil's strategic status is held in place by its monopoly on transportation fuel. Its singular status as the most important commodity on earth could be lost if the fuel market gained real competition. And the only way to do that is to make the cars themselves capable of burning multiple fuels, which fortunately is easy to do from an engineering standpoint. In fact, according to Robert Zubrin, it doesn't require any more engineering at all; the cars are already capable. They only need the fuels to be legalized as fuel (in the case of methanol), which the Fuel Freedom Foundation is working on. Or the cars need to be warranted to burn those fuels, which the Open Fuel Standard Coalition is working on.

What we can do as citizen warriors is what we do best — educate our fellow citizens of the vital necessity and urgency of this goal: To create a condition where fuels can compete with each other in an open market. When that happens, it will force oil prices down to compete, cutting off money to OPEC and drying up the power behind the third jihad.

DHS Ammunition Stockpile: Over A Dozen Congressmen Demanding Investigation

From Will at THE OTHER NEWS:

DHS Ammunition Stockpile: Over A Dozen Congressmen Demanding Investigation.(FO).Just a couple of days ago, I reported on two congressmen who were demanding that the Department of Homeland Security explain their solicitations of 1.6 billion bullets for purchase. Congressman Leonard Lance (R-NJ) and Representative Timothy Huelscamp (R-KS) both want answers to why DHS needs to be purchasing that much ammunition, seeing that they are a domestic agency. Congressman Doug LaMalfa (R-CA) along with 14 other House representatives have written a letter to DHS wanting to know what the Federal agency is buying so many rounds of ammunition and whether or not they are doing it deliberately to restrict the supply to the American people.
That’s right friends. With the main stream wanting to poo poo this story, it is finally making its way to House Representatives and there are finally voices calling for accountability.
“The extraordinary level of ammunition purchases made by Homeland Security seems to have, in states such as my own, created an extreme shortage of ammunition to the point where many gun owners are unable to purchase any,” LaMalfa wrote in the letter.
LaMalfa pointed out that there are spending cuts, which I’ve pointed out are not any real cuts, across the board, so he wants to know why nearly 2 billion rounds of ammunition, enough for a 24 year war, were being solicited by DHS. “In light of these developments, the lack of transparency and questions that have been raised pertaining to these purchases,” Representative LaMalfa asked the following of DHS:
  1. For what purpose is the Department of Homeland Security purchasing over 1.6 billion rounds of ammunition?
  2. How many rounds of ammunition does Homeland Security currently have in its possession?
  3. Is the current level of ammunition purchases by the Department in line with previous levels of ammunition purchases made by the Department?
  4. In response to inquiries into these purchases, why has the Department redacted, blacked out, or classified certain sections of its solicitations that had been previously available to the public?
  5. Are these purchases being conducted in a manner that strategically denies the American people access to ammunition?
  6. How much has Homeland Security spent purchasing ammunition within the last year when it was clear the department was likely to face a budget cut? Please include planned expenditures for current bid solicitations in this figure.
The letter was signed by fifteen members of Congress, including LaMalfa.
Not only has this hurt law enforcement, as some have had to restrict their use of ammunition, as well as how much police officers are allowed to carry, but it has led for an increased demand in the marketplace. With that said, we must take into account how the market works. Part of the reasons for ammunition and gun availability is due to citizen’s run on both following the 2012 elections (and yes, the numbers are clear that fraud was committed, but is anyone doing anything about it?).
The Congressman and his staff were traveling Thursday and according to his office they are back in California, so he was unavailable to comment himself to Freedom Outpost.
Rick Greco, who is a Redding Gun shop owner, said he was troubled by “panic buying” due to proposed gun legislation. “Gun control (talks) have the reverse effect,” Greco said. “They say they are going to try to protect us by taking our guns away. It doesn’t make sense. All that does is it fuels the sense that ‘I better buy now because I might not be able to later.’”
While the Federal government said last month that the munitions purchases for Homeland Security that are to be purchased over the next four to five years are for law enforcement agents that are training and on duty, LaMalfa is suspicious, as we all are with this administration.
The Federal solicitations to purchase ammunition are known as “strategic sourcing contracts.” These help ensure a low price for a large purchase.
One thing that should not be overlooked in all of this is that Barack Obama did say that he thought he should have a “civilian national security force that’s just as powerful, just as strong, just as well funded” as the military. Take into account that Obama’s DHS graduated its first group of FEMA corps, reminiscent of Hitler’s Brown Shirts, back in September, 2012.Read the full story here.

Senate Bitchslaps The Obamaqui

Senate Votes To Block U.S. From Joining UN Arms Trade Treaty On 2nd Amendment Grounds

In the last batch of amendment votes to the budget, the Senate voted on several foreign policy proposals.
Sen. James Inhofe (R-Okla.) introduced an amendment that would prevent the United States from entering into the United Nations Arms Trade Treaty in order to uphold the Second Amendment. His amendment passed on a 53-46 vote.
Republicans have been critical of President Obama’s decision to consider the treaty, although Obama has said he would not vote for anything that would violate the Second Amendment.
The U.N. Arms Trade Treaty would regulate international arms sales. Negotiations end on March 28.
“We’re negotiating a treaty that cedes our authority to have trade agreements with our allies in terms of trading arms,” Inhofe said. “This is probably the last time this year that you’ll be able to vote for your Second Amendment rights.”

Senate Votes To Withhold Pay For Obama’s Budget Writers…

The Senate late Friday backed withholding the White House budget director’s pay if the president is late delivering a budget.
The budget amendment, which has no force of law, was sponsored by Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas.). It was passed by voice vote.
The amendment would also withhold the pay of the deputy director and deputy director for management of the Office of Management and Budget.
President Obama was supposed to deliver his budget by the first Monday of February under the law, but his 2014 budget is now slated to come out in April.
Cornyn told the Senate that “the president has rendered himself entirely irrelevant,” in the budget process since the House and Senate will have acted first.
He noted that after Congress enacted a “No Budget, No Pay” law this year, the Senate brought a budget to the floor for the first time in four years.
No Democrats rose to defend Obama.

DHS Denies Massive Ammo Purchase

From US News:

The Department of Homeland Security responded Friday to questions from Rep. Tim Huelskamp, R-Kan., about why the agency was allegedly planning to buy some 1.6 billion rounds of ammunition over the next five years.
DHS told Whispers it regularly fills all of its goods and services requirements at one time because it's cheaper for the agency, and that the 1.6 billion number was misleading because the language of DHS's purchase said it would need "up to" a certain amount.
One solicitation by the agency—for training centers and law enforcement personnel—was for "up to" 750 million rounds of training ammunition over the next five years, DHS spokesman Peter Boogaard told Whispers.
Another five-year contract allows for the purchase of "up to" 450 million rounds of ammunition, he said, and was also for law enforcement. Boogaard noted that the contract would be used by all DHS agencies except the Coast Guard.
"With more than 100,000 armed law enforcement personnel in DHS, significant quantities of ammunition are used to support law enforcement operations, quarterly qualifications, and training, to include advanced firearms training exercises," Boogaard told Whispers.
According to a letter to one lawmaker detailing DHS ammunition purchases, the department procured 148 million rounds in 2012.
Questions over DHS's big ammunition purchases have been bouncing around the right-wing blogosphere for months. But the story came to a head Friday after a video was posted to the website Infowars of Rep. Huelskamp saying at CPAC that he had expressed concerns to DHS over the purchase but received no response.
"They have no answer for that question. They refuse to answer to answer that," Huelskamp said on the video of the purchases. His office told Whispers that he had sent a letter to DHS with his concerns but had not heard back.
In the letter to DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano, Huelskamp wrote that it had "become clear" that DHS was "purchasing vast quantities of ammunition" and that "estimates show that this ... would be enough for 24 Iraq wars." The Kansas congressman also said the timing of the purchase was "of great interest" because of gun control legislation currently being pushed by the Obama administration.
"The extraordinary level of ammunition purchases made by Homeland Security seems to have, in states such as my own, created an extreme shortage of ammunition to the point where many gun owners are unable to purchase any," he wrote.
DHS previously responded to concerns over the purchase voiced by Sen. Tom Coburn, R-Okla., noting in a detailed letter sent to the senator's office in February just how much had been purchased and for what purpose.
"DHS routinely establishes strategic sourcing contracts that combine the requirements of all its components for commonly purchased goods and services such as ammunition," a DHS legislative affairs person wrote to Coburn. "These strategic sourcing contracts help leverage the purchasing power of DHS to efficiently procure equipment and supplies at significantly lower costs," the department told Coburn.
