Prosecutors may target cronies who were set to testify against Jeffrey Epstein before his death – as the FBI investigates new claims by more than 200 women who say they were sexually assaulted by the wealthy pedophile, law-enforcement officials said Sunday.
Epstein’s indictment referenced three unidentified employees who served as his co-conspirators, and sources said several people had cut deals with prosecutors to testify against the multimillionaire financier.
But in the wake of Epstein’s apparent suicide in a Lower Manhattan lockup, the wannabe witnesses may wind up getting prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, sources said.

The New York City medical examiner announced Sunday night that she has finished her autopsy of multimillionaire pedophile Jeffrey Epstein, who was found dead in his cell from an apparent suicide, but the cause of his death “is pending further information,” a determination that is not uncommon.
Chief Medical Examiner Barbara Sampson also noted that Epstein’s representatives have hired celebrity pathologist Michael Baden to conduct an independent autopsy and they were allowed to observe the autopsy. Baden, who served as the city’s chief medical examiner in the late 1970s, has made a career investigating high-profile deaths, including those of Michael Brown, who was killed by a police officer in Ferguson, Missouri, and former New England Patriots star Aaron Hernandez. Director and activist Jaco Booyens touted President Trump’s historic work in fighting sex trafficking and defended Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) as “incredible people” who helped keep children safe.
Fox News host Mark Levin asked Booyens whether Trump did more to address the issue than other presidents, including former President Barack Obama.
“No question,” Booyens responded on “Life, Liberty, and Levin,” airing Sunday. Booyens said that despite all the criticism surrounding ICE, the agency has become a vital partner in combatting sex trafficking.

According to the State Department’s newly updated definition of anti-Semitism, it seems clear that Democrat Reps. Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib are, without a show of a doubt, anti-Semites.
Reportedly updated sometime between May and August of 2019, the State Department’s “Defining Anti-Semitism” web page now lists “[d]rawing comparisons of contemporary Israeli policy to that of the Nazis” as one of eleven examples of anti-Semitism.
This update was uncovered by Adam Milstein, the president of the Milstein Family Foundation, a California-based nonprofit that aims to both strengthen Israel’s relationship with the U.S. and combat anti-Semitic bigotry.

LAMPEDUSA, Italy (Reuters) - Hollywood star Richard Gere on Saturday urged the Italian government to stop "demonising people" and instead help migrants who have been stranded on a Spanish charity boat in the Mediterranean for more than a week.
Gere, who visited the Open Arms ship in a show of support on Friday, joined a news conference on the Italian island of Lampedusa to call for the 160 migrants stuck on the boat to be allowed to disembark.
He compared the political situation in Italy, where League leader and Interior Minister Matteo Salvini has repeatedly refused requests by migrant ships to dock, to that of the U.S. administration of Donald Trump.
"We have our problems with refugees coming from Honduras, Salavador, Nicaragua, Mexico... It's very similar to what you are going through here," he said, accusing politicians in both Italy and the United States of demonising migrants.
"This has to stop everywhere on this planet now. And it will stop if we say stop," he said, adding that he only wanted to help people and not get into a political fight.
Salvini, who this week pushed through parliament tougher sanctions on charity ships that seek to bring migrants rescued at sea to Italy, was quick to reply.

Universal Pictures has canceled the September 27 release of the controversial movie “The Hunt,” in the wake of significant backlash over the film that depicts privileged vacationers hunting “deplorables” for sport.
NBC’s Universal Pictures, which shares parent company Comcast with NBC News and MSNBC, told Fox News on Wednesday that the movie’s marketing campaign would be “temporarily paused” on the heels of the tragic mass shootings in El Paso, Texas, Dayton, Ohio, and Gilroy, California.
At that time, it had no plans to shelf the movie itself. But in a statement released to Fox News on Saturday, a Universal Pictures spokesperson said: “While Universal Pictures had already paused the marketing campaign for The Hunt, after thoughtful consideration, the studio has decided to cancel our plans to release the film.
Attorney General William Barr released a statement Saturday on the investigations into the death of Jeffrey Epstein in an apparent suicide in while in federal custody at the Manhattan Correctional Center in New York City early Saturday morning. The FBI and the DOJ IG are investigating Epstein’s death, Barr said.
“I was appalled to learn that Jeffrey Epstein was found dead early this morning from an apparent suicide while in federal custody. Mr. Epstein’s death raises serious questions that must be answered. In addition to the FBI’s investigation, I have consulted with the Inspector General who is opening an investigation into the circumstances of Mr. Epstein’s death.”
Jeffrey Epstein, the disgraced millionaire who was facing federal sex trafficking charges, died by suicide early Saturday in his Lower Manhattan prison cell, law enforcement sources and the Bureau of Prisons confirmed to ABC News.
Epstein hanged himself, the sources said.
He was found unresponsive in his cell at Metropolitan Correctional Center around 6:30 a.m., the Bureau of Prisons said. He transported in cardiac arrest to New York Downtown Hospital at 6:39 a.m., according to sources.
