Peddling intolerance and Islamic fascism under the guise of human rights

The annual report of the Human Rights Commission of the Maldives is now on their website.

The principle objectives of the Commission are :-
(a) to protect, preserve and promote human rights in the Maldives in accordance with Islamic Shari’ah and the Constitution of the Maldives;

The report is in the local language and I have done some translations below. But before that - I did some googling and here are some of the parties funding Sharia Law in Maldives.

But soon after ..

In an agreement signed between UNDP and Norway recently, Norway committed financial assistance to help the Commission in support of capacity building and creating awareness among the public on human rights issues. Canada has also pledged its assistance to strengthen the capacity building efforts of the Commission already underway and the assistance will contribute towards building an all-inclusive culture of respect for human rights in the country. - The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Maldives.

UNDP, UNICEF, UNFPA and WHO will under the current project, will contribute to the mission of the Human Rights Commission of the Maldives- “to lead the promotion and protection of human rights under the Constitution of the Maldives, Islamic Shariah and regional and international Human Rights Convention ratified by the Maldives” and support the implementation of the HRCM’s Strategic Action Plan of the Human Rights Commission of the Maldives.- UNDP, UNFPA, UNICEF and WHO Support to the Human Rights Commission of the Maldives

There are probably more donors to Sharia Law - I saw on the website that the British Council is involved and the Commonwealth should not be far behind...

Now to examine the report of the Human Rights Commission of Maldives...

Under the guise of human rights it is peddling intolerance and Islamic fascism. The annual report of this organization is a fine work of Islamic double-speak.

To begin with, I cannot fathom why a human rights report should start off as an Islamic sermon. And for most the report it just continues as a sermon.

"In the name of Allah, most Gracious, most Compassionate". Praise and thanks be to Allah (Glorious and Exalted is he) who has sanctified human beings. I pray to Allah that he may bestow his peace and blessings upon Mohamed ( PBUH), The Exalted and Consecrated Above All in Both Worlds, who revealed the importance of protecting the sanctity of humans and who the beautiful example of establishing justice and equality among humans. And I include his family and companions in this prayer.”

Further reading of the report reveals that the organization is not about human rights but dedicated to aiding, abetting and enforcing bias and bigotry. Even the principle objectives of the Commission are incompatible with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

The report stresses and emphasizes that Maldives is a 100% Islamic nation and completely ignores the existence of non-Muslims Maldivians and their rights. Of particular importance is the refusal by the Human Rights Commission of Maldives to address the amendment made last year by the Constitutional Assembly (the Special Majlis) to revoke the citizenship of all non-Muslim Maldivians. This amended constitution is expected to come into force this year. In response, this blogger derisively wrote - “However to our relief the human rights commission of Maldives have not yet condemned the infidels for insulting Islam and Muslims by leaving Islam or have said anything supportive of beheading them.”

The sermon goes on …“In truth, the highest pinnacle of Human Right is respect for each other. If this can be maintained under the beautiful principles of Islam, protecting all other rights will become a very easy thing.” Thus we are to conclude that Islam is the remedy for human rights abuses.

The Commissioner Mr Saleem is also either lying or misinformed when he states that “the basic freedoms and rights which are also included in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights are perfectly included in the second chapter of the new draft constitution.” The Universal Declaration of Human Rights specifically allows freedom of religion, including changing one's religion and the new Maldives constitution clearly prohibits it.

Of particular concern is the following paragraph:-
"Fragmentation of the political ethos and political conflicts are problems which would be solved with increasing public awareness. Political differences are issues that could be solved by dialog. On the other hand, religious divisions and differences of opinion in matters of ideology are very dangerous.
The signs of the dangers associated with this are now visible in our Maldivian community. We are now even experiencing the resulting damage. This is something which this Commission has previously expressed concern for. Finding the reasons for these religious divisions in our tiny community and taking the necessary steps regarding this, in a responsible manner is of the utmost importance.
When the number of people whose thinking and beliefs that contradict the beautiful Islamic principles are increasing, it is very important that the concerned government authorities bring out to the citizens the authentic information about religion (Islam) in a responsible manner. We would like to point out that, to save the society from religious divisions it is very important that the role played by the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs be broadened.”

There already exists a 'Protection of Religious Unity of Maldivians Act' under which a person can be prosecuted and imprisoned for anything considered un- Islamic. Wearing a crucifix, owning literature of religions other than Islam, having a statue or portraits of the Buddha or Hindu deities, expressing any views either by speech or in writing which contradicts the Islamic view (as determined by the Supreme Council on Islamic Affairs) and a whole host of activities are deemed un-Islamic and can result in prosecution and incarceration.
Given that the Constitution already states that all laws should be in accordance with Islam and the Supreme Council determines what is Islam , what else does the Human Rights Commission of Maldives want when they say "the role played by the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs be broadened.”?

A hierarchy of mullahs to rule the nation as in Iran? A religious police force as in Saudi Arabia?

Now thats something the Hollywood celebrities and European glitterati will not want to think about as they lounge on the beach of a Maldives resort with a cocktail.

Air Force grants equal time to critics of alleged ex-terrorists

AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. – The Air Force Academy has invited three speakers to give their vision of Islam after remarks made by three self-described former terrorists that some in the audience believed were condemnations of all Muslims.

Mikey Weinstein, head of the Military Religious Freedom Foundation, former U.S. ambassador to Niger Joe Wilson and Islamic expert Reza Aslan, a research associate at the University of Southern California's Center on Public Diplomacy, will speak to cadets April 9 at a forum on terrorism.

Academy officials invited the three amid criticism of the appearances of Walid Shoebat, Kamal Saleem and Zachariah Anani at a Feb. 6 forum on the topic, “Dismantling Terrorism.”

Although academy spokesman Johnny Whitaker said this was not in response to the criticism, he acknowledged that it occurred only after the complaints were made.

Academy officials insisted that Shoebat, Saleem and Anani, who claim to have abandoned terrorism after converting to Christianity, are genuine.

Maj. Brett Ashworth, academy spokesman, said the three had been checked out by Air Force intelligence. Ashcroft disputed reports that the three had pushed a Christian agenda during the February forum and had insisted in advance they would not be proselytizing on behalf of Christianity.

An Air Force task force also concluded there was no religious discrimination at the academy but noted some cadets and staff were insensitive. In February 2006, the Air Force adopted new guidelines cautioning top officers about promoting their religious views.

Shoebat has published an online autobiography describing his journey from membership in the Palestine Liberation Organization to Israeli sympathizer. Saleem says he also is a former member of the PLO, and Zak Anani describes himself as a former member of several Lebanese terrorist groups. The three appear together regularly.

The Washington, D.C.-based Council on American-Islamic Relations criticized the speakers, saying one of them, Shoebat, has said that “Islam is the devil.”

The only member of the three self-described former terrorists who could be reached this week defended his credibility. He said he could “not really” speak for the other two.

“I am who I am,” said Shoebat.

Asked if he gave up terrorism after converting to Christianity, Shoebat said, “Absolutely.”

His publicist, Keith Davies, said Shoebat never killed anyone but had once tried unsuccessfully tried to lynch an Israeli soldier. Davies said Shoebat tossed a bomb at an Israeli bank that injured no one, and that Shoebat was jailed by the Israelis but released because he is a U.S. citizen.

Davies also said Shoebat has been in hiding because of what he called threats from Arabs.

Winds of War: How Some Dealt With Terrorism in History

Saw the movie ‘Vantage Point’ this weekend. One line struck me about our current fight with terrorism. One of the terrorists said just before he died. “You can’t stop us. This fight will never end.”

Over at FaithFreedom.org, a member wrote a long post about how history dealt with terrorism.

… every day the police inform us about the arrests of “peaceful Muslims” and about the plots uncovered in Italy, Spain, France, Holland, USA, Russia…

Yet, the Muslims, supported by the gang of “liberal” politicians and journalists, look at us innocently like the famous husband caught in bed with another woman and ask the same question: Who are you going to believe? Us, or your lying eyes?

And what is absolutely puzzling; there is quite a lot of people who quite seriously try to convince us that we can stop this rain of mortal attacks by being “kind” and “tolerant”, and who with clever faces repeat like parrots the senseless commonplaces like “violence gives rise to more violence”, or “two wrongs don´t make a right”, or “you cannot defeat violence with more violence”.

Is that true? History says otherwise.

Light, sweet crude for April delivery on the New York Mercantile Exchange jumped to a new trading record of $103.05 a barrel in electronic trading before slipping back to $102.07 a barrel, down 52 cents, by midday in Europe.

Americans, both parties have failed to do their duty, and since 1973, when it became obvious what the real cost was going to be, have done almost no real thing to give this nation independence from religious, socialist, and vanilla dictatorial loons, who sit above dead dinosaurs and plants? The presidents have failed to design realistic plans, and congresses have failed to authorize any plans that might have helped, INCLUDING EXPLORATION, and drilling, the simplest of answers. Now the needs are dire, and the problems inching towards economic desperation as a real, and viewable possible outcome.

Uncertainty over the U.S. economy continued to drag on the dollar a day after Fed chief Ben Bernanke said the American economy was not "anywhere near" the dangerous situation of the 1970s.

The lack of confidence the amoral judgment of capital has pronounced upon america right now goes right back to a lack of forthright acceptance of the age we are in , and it's compulsory solutions. This is a fault of leaders, and of people,and the world sees it clearly americans. No soft power kumbaya, or old school old boy method have yet sufficed to change the dynamic or the challenges of THIS age.

Gold price hits record 976.32 dollars per ounce in London

The price of gold rose to a record high point of 976.32 dollars per ounce in morning trading here on Friday as the dollar struck fresh historic lows against the euro, traders said.

The previous record high price for an ounce of gold was 964.99 dollars, reached on Wednesday.

A weak US currency boosts demand for dollar-denominated raw materials such as gold because it makes them cheaper for buyers using stronger currencies. However the increased demand eventually leads to higher prices.

Demand for gold tends to rise at a time of uncertainty about political or economic conditions, and when inflationary pressures appear to be building up.

Just what kind of lesson will it take for Americans to come to grips with the challenges we face? What will it take for us to push forward people who challenge us with difficulties and not attempt to buy us with impossible promises?

We have to produce more than software. We have to generate more than debt. We have to invest in more than stocks. We have to look further than the next quarter's report. We have to arm ourselves with more than Raptors

Islamic Law In Britain?

Great Britain: Should we adopt Islamic law?

Is the Church of England surrendering to Islam? said Matthew d’Ancona in the London Daily Telegraph. In an already infamous speech last week, Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams said that the introduction of parts of Islamic sharia law in Britain “seems unavoidable,” since there are so many devout Muslims here who refuse to recognize British law. Bowing to that inevitability, he said, would “help to maintain social cohesion.” Williams, the leader of the Anglican Church, was professing to be tolerant of another religion, but in reality he was simply knuckling under to extremists. He actually mocked the idea that there should be “one law and only one law for everybody,” as if that were some quaint notion, not the very underpinning of Western thought. “Equality before the law is, in practice, the most meaningful form of equality that we have. Please, sir: Can we have the Enlightenment back?”

“There’s being tolerant and there’s being an ass,” said Anila Baig in the London Sun. We all know what sharia means: “stoning, amputations, lashings, and executions.” Britain left such abominations behind centuries ago. Are we to be dragged back to the Middle Ages to please our new “so-called citizens” from Pakistan and Bangladesh? “Why should those who already feel they are not part of society be pandered to? Why give them the green light to go their separate way?”

Many British Muslims shudder with horror at the thought, said Yasmin Alibhai-Brown in the London Independent. Muslim women such as myself are thrilled that we don’t live in Saudi Arabia or Iran, and we are already alarmed at the Islamification of Britain. “Ten years ago, the only fully shrouded Muslim women around were from the Arab fiefdoms,” but nowadays “all of Europe has these girls and women rendering themselves invisible in public spaces.” Moreover, we have been struggling to get so-called honor killings acknowledged as the scourge that they are and punished accordingly. If British Muslims were allowed to take their grievances to separate sharia courts, it would be impossible for women to get justice.

Archbishop Williams’ words have been twisted and misconstrued, said Deborah Orr, also in the Independent. He specifically stipulated that any Islamic court ruling could not go against British law. He merely proposed allowing an Islamic council to adjudicate trivial cases involving, for example, uncontested divorces. Such a concession will let the imams feel that they have a say in British life. “Far from pandering to extremists, he is thinking about how to beat them at their own game.”

Ah, so Williams wants us to adopt only the mild, inoffensive bits of sharia? asked the Plymouth Western Morning News in an editorial. That won’t wash. Islamic law is supposedly the direct word of God, which does not submit to editing. You cannot, in other words, “dine à la carte on sharia.” To suggest “that there is some jolly Anglican version of it is dangerous nonsense.” Williams was once considered one of the smartest bishops ever to head the Anglican Church. “Unhappily, he may also prove to be one of the worst.”

There are between 6 and 7 million Muslims in America today. In other words, Muslims outnumber some Christian denominations and are equal to the number of Jews. Research done in the year 2000 by prominent American universities and Islamic foundations show that the number of Muslims is increasing rapidly and that Islam is growing stronger day by day.

The main theme of this research, known as the Mosque Study Project, is the establishment of mosques in America. The reason for this is that mosques occupy a very special place in any statistical compilations done with regard to the American Muslim community. Mosques in America are both houses of worship and gathering places for talking with one another and launching cultural activities to make Islam more widely known. Every mosque establishes a relationship with the press to introduce Islam to a wider audience, speaks with local politicians, visits schools and churches, engages in interfaith dialogue and carries on other such activities. Thus, research done on these mosques is one of the most useful tools for gathering accurate and enlightening information on this community's state.

According to this research, America now has about 1,209 mosques, most of which were constructed very recently. Thirty percent of these mosques were built in the 1990s, and 32% were built in the 1980s. Other statistics show that in 1994, the total number of mosques in America was 962; in 2000, there was a 25% increase in this number.

These data show a natural parallel with the growing number of Muslims. For example, according to determinations made in 1994, the number of Muslims attending mosque services was 500,000; in 2000, this figure had increased to 2 million-an approximately 300% increase. A significant part of this number is composed of people who converted to Islam. The same research shows that about 30% of those worshippers are converts. According to these data, about 20,000 Americans accept Islam every year....

Don't Worry. Jihad Will Fade Away

According to this commentary in the February 28, 2008 edition of the Washington Post, we don't have much to worry about. Rather, the problem with jihad is pretty much in our paranoid minds:

Politicians who talk about the terrorism threat -- and it's already clear that this will be a polarizing issue in the 2008 campaign -- should be required to read a new book by a former CIA officer named Marc Sageman. It stands what you think you know about terrorism on its head and helps you see the topic in a different light.

Sageman has a résumé that would suit a postmodern John le Carré. He was a case officer running spies in Pakistan and then became a forensic psychiatrist. What distinguishes his new book, "Leaderless Jihad," is that it peels away the emotional, reflexive responses to terrorism that have grown up since Sept. 11, 2001, and looks instead at scientific data Sageman has collected on more than 500 Islamic terrorists -- to understand who they are, why they attack and how to stop them.

The heart of Sageman's message is that we have been scaring ourselves into exaggerating the terrorism threat...

The first wave of al-Qaeda leaders, who joined Osama bin Laden in the 1980s, is down to a few dozen people on the run in the tribal areas of northwest Pakistan. The second wave of terrorists, who trained in al-Qaeda's camps in Afghanistan during the 1990s, has also been devastated, with about 100 hiding out on the Pakistani frontier. These people are genuinely dangerous, says Sageman, and they must be captured or killed. But they do not pose an existential threat to America, much less a "clash of civilizations."

It's the third wave of terrorism that is growing, but what is it? By Sageman's account, it's a leaderless hodgepodge of thousands of what he calls "terrorist wannabes." Unlike the first two waves, whose members were well educated and intensely religious, the new jihadists are a weird species of the Internet culture. Outraged by video images of Americans killing Muslims in Iraq, they gather in password-protected chat rooms and dare each other to take action. Like young people across time and religious boundaries, they are bored and looking for thrills....

So all we need to worry about is a bunch of Evel Knievels? Puhleeze!

David Ignatius, the author of the commentary and quite obviously not a supporter of John McCain, manages not to agree with the body of his own essay, which is mostly a rundown of Sageman's arguments:

I don't agree with all of Sageman's arguments, especially about the consequences of a quick drawdown in Iraq, but I think he is raising the questions the country needs to ponder this election year. If Sageman's data are right, we are not facing what President Bush called "the decisive ideological struggle of the 21st century and the calling of our generation," but something that is more limited and manageable -- if we make good decisions.

And just what might be the definition of "good decisions" and adequate managment? Appeasement? Not publishing Mo-toons? Burying the memory of Theo Van Gogh's murder? Ignoring the threats on Geert Wilders's life?

Maybe Mr. Sageman and Mr. Ignatius would do well to read IBA. They just might get a better grip on reality.

Present at the Coronation of King Obama?

Why is Obama smiling? Perhaps if this wonderful, charismatic speaker, this man who has risen so quickly that he is still basically a State Senator in mental outlook truly understood what he was getting into, he would show a bit more concern.

Obama tried speaking about substance when he mentioned the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan, and he displayed an astounding ignorance of the military instrument. He said that an anonymous U.S. Army captain told him that his infantry platoon was split and sent to different areas of operations; that they were lacking vehicles; and that they had insufficient ammunition to fight.

Although problems do occur in combat situations to be sure, none of what Obama related makes any sense ...

Politicians rely heavily, on almost every subject, on advisors to get them educated and keep them current. And nobody really expects Obama or Clinton or even McCain, who was a Navy aviator, to know anything about ground combat. But one does expect the candidate to employ advisors who know what they are talking about and to prevent their candidate from embarrassment.

While Obama has attracted money, notoriety and delegates, he has yet to attract military advisers who know what they are doing. ___Source

Who is Obama truly depending on, as advisors? Is he depending on the "poster-boy" economic and policy advisors put forward by his campaign, or is he performing as required for the "campaign show", while intending to fall back on his most pivotal and most trusted advisors once the deal is done? I suspect that Michelle Obama will play a very strong role in any Obama administration. A very alienated Michelle, with a strong sense of entitlement and victimisation--a dangerous combination indeed.

"Dreams of My Father", the 1995 Obama autobiography contains many clues. There may just be enough time between now and November to learn enough about the hidden core of this man who would be king.

Islamist Policy To Create Disunity & Violence

We are all pissed off (English expression) with Muslims increasingly demanding special treatment in our lands.

• The female health workers in the NHS refusing to uncover their forearms for scrubbing up.


• Insistence on wearing the veil in public places


• Demands for sharia law


• Special provision for prayer rooms for Muslims in public places


• Refusal of taxi drivers to carry guide dogs


• Shop workers refusing to handle alcohol


• Social Housing built especially for Muslims so the toilets DO NOT face Mecca


• The instant ability to take offence whilst offending the rest of us with their insults and death threats to all Jews and infidels

And then there's a call for American Muslims to stir up racial tension between African-Americans and whites in the U.S. by spreading inflammatory materials on the Internet.

It is part of a plan put together by the Muslim Brotherhood for the Islamic takeover of the West. And because the Quran has laid out the plan in no uncertain way then it must be obeyed. The idea is to infiltrate all sections of society - which they have done - and constantly piss us off in the hope of provoking a violent backlash:from this site:

What does Islam teach as far as violence is concerned? Looking at the Qur'an, we see quite a lot taught about this subject. Muslim apologists will often point to Surah 2:190-193 as proof that Islam teaches only defensive warfare, but eschews offense.

"Fight in the cause of Allah those who fight you, but do not transgress limits; for Allah loveth not transgressors. And slay them wherever ye catch them, and turn them out from where they have Turned you out; for tumult and oppression are worse than slaughter; but fight them not at the Sacred Mosque, unless they first fight you there; but if they fight you, slay them.

Such is the reward of those who suppress faith. But if they cease, Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful. And fight them on until there is no more Tumult or oppression, and there prevail justice and faith in Allah; but if they cease, Let there be no hostility except to those who practise oppression."

These verses, it is said, admonish Muslims only to fight against those who oppress or persecute Muslims, and only until the offenders have stopped oppressing Muslims.

However, there is a catch to all this. The Qur'an also teaches for Muslims to enter into exile in lands where Islam is not the dominant force, and to stir up trouble, so that this persecution will come as the natives in those lands protect the integrity of their sovereignty.

"Those who believed, and adopted exile, and fought for the Faith, with their property and their persons, in the cause of Allah, as well as those who gave them asylum and aid,- these are all friends and protectors, one of another.

As to those who believed but came not into exile, ye owe no duty of protection to them until they come into exile; but if they seek your aid in religion, it is your duty to help them, except against a people with whom ye have a treaty of mutual alliance. And remember Allah seeth all that ye do.

The Unbelievers are protectors, one of another: Unless ye do this, protect each other, there would be tumult and oppression on earth, and great mischief." (Surah 8:72-73)

In this passage, “adopted exile” is translated from the root form hjr, which has as its primary meaning the ideas of containment or confinement, and can carry the connotation of being quarantined or compartmentalised.

The idea garnered from this verse seems to be as follows: adopt exile in a foreign land, voluntarily confining yourself in a non-Muslim society. Eschew assimilating into the culture and way of life of the host country, and instead agitate for Islam. When opposition arises, join together and give aid and fight for Allah against the unbelievers, since voilà, persecution has arisen!

Hence, what is touted as a defensive doctrine is in reality carried out in an offensive manner.

So there you have it. The plan is working.

Last July, an amendment by Levin and Reed to require redeployment from Iraq to begin within 120 days drew 52 votes, eight short of the 60 needed to overcome a filibuster.

Except for being against anything republican, and despising Bush, why would Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi seek to change the course of a war being won?

This war in Iraq we are winning remains unpopular because the democratic party right now, and the media, have decided it must be.

Need I remind the readers that the worst lead people on this planet, the Palestinians, have suffered manifestly for that. Lead into permanent rejection, religious war, victimology and permanent poverty, they have paid a heavy price.

Today the democrat party at the national level has decided it is better for the democratic party to ensure defeat in Iraq, for votes, and they enforce that uniform adherence with the example of Joe Lieberman. Concluding a two-day meeting of their joint interfaith committee in Cairo, the two sides also denounced any insult to any religion.

Seventeen Danish newspapers reprinted on Wednesday, February 13, a drawing of a man described as Prophet Muhammad with a ticking bomb in his turban.

The move came following the arrest of two Tunisians and a Dane of Moroccan origin for allegedly plotting to kill the cartoonist who had drew the caricature in 2005.

"We call for the respect of faiths, religious holy books and religious symbols," read the statement.

The two sides urged Muslim and Christian religious leaders, intellectuals and educators to instill such respect in society.

"Freedom of expression should not become a pretext to insult religions and defaming religious sanctities."

The Vatican's position makes no sense to me. It is leading to a complete Dhimmi and roll-over attitude similar to the Head of the Church of England: - The Most Reverend Dhimmi Supreme Arcishop Himself - even though he now tries to retract his earlier statements on his recommendation to introduce Sharia in the UK.

How many Nation of Islam members will work in an Obama White House?

I found this very informative article today. Like many here, I want answers! We must not stop asking the hard questions, even if we piss people off. This is OUR country too!

Responding to criticism by Washington Post columnist Richard Cohen, Barack Obama declared his strong opposition to Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan:

I decry racism and anti-Semitism in every form and strongly condemn the anti-Semitic statements made by Minister Farrakhan.

Obama also went on to condemn his Church's award to Farrakhan and his minister's tight relationship with him.

But a former Obama insider says that Obama's sudden aversion to NOI and Farrakhan is belied by the fact that Obama employed and continues to employ several Farrakhan acolytes in high positions on his Illinois and U.S. Senate campaign and office staffs. I have verified that this person--who agreed to talk on the condition of anonymity--held a key position in the Obama campaign. The insider was so close to Senator Obama that they frequently personally discussed and exchanged direct e-mail messages on campaign and policy matters. This person is not connected with the Clintons and is not a disgruntled employee.

The insider says he frequently objected to Mr. Obama's placement of Cynthia K. Miller, a member of the Nation of Islam, as the Treasurer of his U.S. Senate campaign. When I contacted Miller, now a Chicago real estate agent, to verify whether she was a member of the Nation of Islam and whether she shared Louis Farrakhan's bigoted views about Jews, she responded, "None of your business! Where are you going with this?" She said her resignation as Obama's treasurer had nothing to do with her Nation of Islam ties. Then, she hung up.

The Obama insider says he also objected to Obama's involvement with Jennifer Mason, whom he says is also a member of the Nation of Islam. Mason is Obama's Director of Constituent Services in his U.S. Senate office and is also in charge of selecting Obama's Senate interns. She did not respond to repeated calls for comment.

But it's not just that he employed these individuals in positions of power in his office, it's that when the former associate raised objections, he says Mr. Obama's position was that he saw nothing wrong with the Nation of Islam and didn't think it was a problem. If true--and the fact that Ms. Mason still holds her prominent Obama Senate staff position bears that out--Obama's condemnation of Farrakhan, this month, is phony.

But the insider says there is more to it than that. Obama's Illinois State Senate district consisted of prime Nation of Islam territory, including Hyde Park, home to Farrakhan's mansion. It is not possible, Illinois politicos say, to win that district without the blessing of the NOI leader. NOI members, including consultant Shakir Muhammad, held important roles in the Obama state senate campaign.

Mr. Obama recalled the opening lines of the Arabic call to prayer, reciting them with a first-rate accent. In a remark that seemed delightfully uncalculated (it’ll give Alabama voters heart attacks), Mr. Obama described the call to prayer as “one of the prettiest sounds on Earth at sunset.”

Moreover, Mr. Obama’s own grandfather in Kenya was a Muslim. Mr. Obama never met his grandfather and says he isn’t sure if his grandfather’s two wives were simultaneous or consecutive, or even if he was Sunni or Shiite.


You see that Nicholas Kristof seems to think this is great. Obama brings experience that other candidates don't have.

Yeah, he sure does.

And, what was the prayer Obama recited? Death by a Thousand Papercuts says this is it:

Play dates are all the same,” she explained like it should have been self-evident to me.

And it is not only debates she likes. She has had me dig up old Obama speeches from YouTube. The man just has to talk and J is all mesmerized. She sits transfixed and watches him like she were in a hypnotic trance. . . .

German Interior Minister: EU Press Should Publish Mohammed Cartoons

"All European newspapers should print the [Mohammed] caricatures with the explanation, 'We also think they're pathetic, but the use of press freedom is no reason to resort to violence," Schaeuble told the weekly edition of Die Zeit.

The minister added that he "respected" the decision of 17 Danish newspapers earlier this month to reprint a cartoon depicting the Prophet Mohammed with a turban that resembled a bomb with a lit fuse. The re-publication came a day after Danish authorities uncovered and foiled a plot to murder the cartoonist whose drawing first appeared in 2005.

Schaeuble's statement coincided with protests in Sudan over the reprinting. In a demonstration organized by numerous Islamist movements, some 10,000 people marched through Khartoum on Wednesday, Feb. 27.

The protestors demanded that diplomatic ties with Denmark be severed and expressed support for a boycott on Danish products declared by the Sudanese government on Monday.

"Bin Laden strike again" and "Jews, Jews, the army of Mohammed is coming back," shouted the marchers.

Since the cartoon was reprinted two weeks ago, similar protests have been held in Iran and Egypt.

A historic statue of a wild boar is unlikely to return to Derby's Arboretum, because it could offend Muslims living nearby.

The Florentine Boar stood in the Derby park from 1840 to 1942, when it was beheaded by flying masonry during an air raid.

Derby City Council had hoped to replace the statue with an identical replica when plans for a massive overhaul of the park were first considered a decade ago. But following reservations raised by some people in Normanton about a new boar statue, the authority decided to consult with local community leaders.

At a meeting of the council's minority ethnic communities advisory committee it was recommended that the boar be replaced with something else because of the strength of feeling among nearby residents as pigs are perceived as offensive creatures by many Muslims.

Derwent Ward councillor Suman Gupta said, "If the statue of the boar is put back at the Arboretum I have been told that it will not be there the next day, or at least it won't be in the same condition the next day at least. We should not have the boar because it is offensive to some of the groups in the immediate area."

There's A Crack Appearing

There's a crack appearing in the Iranian regime albeit a small one but it's a start. Students have been rioting recently and have been voicing protests against the regime.

Ordinary people in the street have been also protesting against the Religious Police who have been arresting women for not dressing in the Islamic way:

The riot broke out in Tehran on the weekend when the Iranian Chastity Police attempted to arrest a young woman they said was inappropriately dressed.Witnesses say the young woman resisted arrest, which caused the police to push and beat her.

The sight of the woman being beaten prompted a bystander to come to her aid, but he was also roughed-up by the security forces.

Dozens of Iranians who were present at the scene began rioting and setting rubbish on fire.

The riot was captured on numerous cell-phone cameras and shows people shouting slogans against the police and government.

The crowed reportedly called out against Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

Efforts by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard and Chastity Police to enforce the Islamic dress code on Iranian women has caused thousands of women to be detained for failing to uphold the dress code.

Speaking Of Pigs...

As you enter the gate and walk on the flagstones leading to my front porch, you'll first notice a big planter. Every spring, I buy some annuals to fill the planter, which is at least years old and make of solid concrete. Talk about heavy! My aunt wanted to take the planter with her when she moved from this house, but the management at her apartment building said that it was too much weight for the balcony.

On the northeast side of the above antique planter sits a rain gauge, a Christmas gift from Claudia. Isn't he a cute little fellow?



Ever since 9/11, I've made sure that a flag is hanging from my front porch, except in the most inclement weather. I've had to replace the flag three times, and the present one is getting pretty battered now. The flag is probably the first thing one notices about my front porch.

Turkey is preparing to publish a document that represents a revolutionary reinterpretation of Islam - and a controversial and radical modernisation of the religion.

The country's powerful Department of Religious Affairs has commissioned a team of theologians at Ankara University to carry out a fundamental revision of the Hadith, the second most sacred text in Islam after the Koran.

The Hadith is a collection of thousands of sayings reputed to come from the Prophet Muhammad.

As such, it is the principal guide for Muslims in interpreting the Koran and the source of the vast majority of Islamic law, or Sharia.

But the Turkish state has come to see the Hadith as having an often negative influence on a society it is in a hurry to modernise, and believes it responsible for obscuring the original values of Islam.

It says that a significant number of the sayings were never uttered by Muhammad, and even some that were need now to be reinterpreted.

'Reformation'

Commentators say the very theology of Islam is being reinterpreted in order to effect a radical renewal of the religion.

Its supporters say the spirit of logic and reason inherent in Islam at its foundation 1,400 years ago are being rediscovered. Some believe it could represent the beginning of a reformation in the religion.


I have a feeling that, even if this article is telling the truth and the Turkish government does want to "modernize", the end result is simply that we will see a new Gnosticism arise in Islam, where the Hadith will only be shared with initiated adherents. However, their spirit will still be taught.

Look, if Turkey showed any other evidence of wanting to "modernize" then I would believe that "hope was making a comeback." But, well, I'm dubious, as Tim Gunn would say.

The Turkish government just recently swung towards the side of the radical Islamists. And, I'm supposed to believe Turkey is in the beginning stages of a reformation?!?

The BBC ought to be ashamed of themselves. They report these news stories as if they were gullible enough to believe them themselves. The BBC knows the truth, but they dish out Soma for the people, hoping we will rest gently and not dislike Islam too much.

Europe Losing Its Educated People

Europe and the UK are suffering from a growing stampede of educated professionals, scientists, and technical specialists out of the region.

Record numbers of Britons are leaving - many of them doctors, teachers and engineers - in the biggest exodus for almost 50 years.

There are now 3.247 million British-born people living abroad, of whom more than 1.1 million are highly-skilled university graduates, say the researchers.

More than three quarters of these professionals have settled abroad for more than 10 years, according to the study by the Organisation of Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).

No other nation is losing so many qualified people, it points out. Britain has now lost more than one in 10 of its most skilled citizens, while overall only Mexico has had more people emigrate.

The figures, based on official records from more than 220 countries, will alarm Gordon Brown as tens of thousands of pounds of taxpayers' money is spent on educating graduates. The cost of training a junior doctor, for example, is £250,000.

The most popular destinations are English-speaking countries such as Australia, America, Canada and New Zealand and holiday areas including France and Spain.

Almost 60 per cent of those leaving take jobs, although hundreds of thousands of retired people live abroad.___Telegraph

North Americans may find it difficult to understand why so many Europeans are so eager to leave. Particularly leftist North Americans, who so badly want to reproduce Western Europe within the borders of North America.

Unfortunately, there are many good reasons for Europeans and Britons to leave their home countries, as the comments linked to above will demonstrate. I see two overwhelming themes dominating the reasons behind this brain drain.

• 1. Out of control immigration into Europe by uneducated, undisciplined, intolerant newcomers, leading to higher violent crime and property crime rates.
• 2. Excessive taxation of the productive classes at the expense of the non-productive, quasi-parasitic classes (including many of the new immigrants).

The trend will only accelerate with time and continued immigration of violent and religiously intolerant, unassimilable newcomers. When you lose residents at the high end of education and income, and gain residents at the lowest end of education and income--in fact gaining criminals and welfare dependents--then the long-term prospects look grim. It is no wonder that European women are reproducing at only half the replacement levels.
