From Little Green Footballs:
An Egyptian security official said there were at least five breaches along the nine-mile border and hundreds of Palestinian residents were pouring in. At least 300 Egyptian border guards have been rushed to the area to reseal the border, the official added on condition on anonymity because he was not authorised to speak to the press.
A resident of the Gaza Strip side of the border, Fida Kishta, said that Egyptian border guards opened fire to drive back the Palestinians.
Residents have also commandeered a bulldozer to open new breaches.
Palestinians reported several people were wounded by the gunfire.
Israeli aircraft earlier bombed the border area in an apparent attempt to destroy cross border tunnels used to smuggle weapons and contraband into the Gaza Strip.
Will there be a round of condmenation of Egypt in the United Nations?
Sounds like fun! (But then again...I must confess to being one of those who cling to his guns and faith,)
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile.....Israel is allowing aid convoys to send assistance to the Gazans.
(See!? We're "just like the Nazis!"
WHERE'S THE OUTRAGE!?
ReplyDeleteThus far, this "skirmish" is filled with delicious irony.
ReplyDeleteLOL!!! Jimmy Carter is such an idiot!
ReplyDeleteThe word is that hamas is trying to keep civilians from getting Egyptian aid so they can run up the casualty numbers for world sympathy.....I wonder how that's working for them.
Also, evidently the Israeli bomb and rocket strikes are almost surgical in their precision....and it's 99.9% hamas that is taking licks.....good! They asked for it....I hope they enjoy their "virgins" (but personally, I think they may be in for a surprise).
Rock on Israel!!!
Pastorius,
ReplyDeleteHere's a video on the subject that you might be interested in. I would like to know your opinion.
Wouldn't it be fun if Israeli air strikes accidentally blast open stretches of the border fence? The spectacle of Egyptian Arabs opening fire on their 1.5 million dearly beloved Gazan Arab brothers rushing the border will make for great international TV. There'll be a Pulitzer there somewhere for the cameraman at the right place at the right time.
ReplyDeleteDamien,
ReplyDeleteI watched some of that video. I'm not sure, but isn't it wrong to say that Israel has been hit with "thousands of mortar shells in the past several days"?
I think the guy's heart is in the right place, but he needs to be more accurate about facts.
From above: 'The spectacle of Egyptian Arabs opening fire on their 1.5 million dearly beloved Gazan Arab brothers rushing the border will make for great international TV.'..... If a tree falls in the forest and no one hears it, did it fall? There would never be a story to win a Pulitzer prize over. On the other hand when Israelis shoot three terrorists sneaking across the border it's a 'Zionist assault against the entire Arab nation'.
ReplyDeletePastorius,
ReplyDeleteWell I agree, you should be as accurate as possible with the facts. Maybe you could kindly point out that mistake to him.
Ugh, this entire thing is making me just sick.
ReplyDeleteAnd on a personal note, RELIAPUNDIT, WHERE'S THE CAPS LOCK?? TURN IT OFF!
Lex,
ReplyDeleteWhat, in particular, is making you sick?
Infidel minds would love to know.
Well, since RELIAPUNDIT can't delete my comments here...HAHAHA...It's just the general situation, Jaco. The whole thing. We're finally in a generation in which video and pictures from the front lines of wars are uploaded and waved in our faces, and let's face it, war is an ugly thing.
ReplyDeleteI'm just sick that this cannot be resolved. HAMAS was warned. They ignored the warnings. They knew Israel would strike and that it would bring horrors on their "own" people, yet fired on Israel anyway. It's just disgusting, especially the reports that come with pictures and video. That's what we get for living in relative peace though, we have forgotten this side of life.
As I pointed out in another thread today, the clear majority of the people of Gaza voted for Hamas as their government.
ReplyDeleteA clear majority of the people of Germany never voted for the Nazis, and yet we would believe that the Germans got what was coming to them in WWII, and we celebrate our victory.
That's how I feel about this situation. I say, it's a great day. Israel is doing what it should be doing, and they are doing it successfully.
I don't feel sorry for people who vote to have a Nazi government represent them, and you know that that is what Hamas is, essentially.
And, you know that I stand against Nazism in all it's forms, including the "soft" form of Ethnic Nationalism.
If that's what the people want, then they reap what they sow.
Pastorius,
ReplyDeletePeople do tend to reap what they sow. That's one kernel of truth from the Bible.
Indeed Lex, the majority in Gaza voted for exactly what they have, a govt whose first devotion is to the the wiping out of Israel to protect the Islamic waqf it sits on.
ReplyDeleteNo negotiation is possible, as they have said many times. Any truce must be only for the purpose of gaining strength, as they themselves have indicated.
Their own charter makes it clear that no peace is possible. Thus they are compelled to adhere to qruanic needs and kill jews until they submit die or leave.
HAMAS must die if Israel will live.
There is no other course. I suggest that the arabs kill HAMAS since there will be fewer casualties. But, of course, they won't
Pastorius,,,,give me ten minutes in your household and I promise, you'll vote for whomever I choose.
ReplyDeleteI will not elaborate here...however, in the end, people do as they are told...or suffer the consequences.
"Free and fair elections", like "full confessions" are meaningless in the Middle-East.
The Palestinian Territories & Gaza should be liberated.
Michael: I'll give you 10 Thousand minutes in my household and you'll never convince me to vote for such evil as hamas. Are you joking?
ReplyDeletePower comes from the people and we can see in our own country how our freedoms are slipping away. They voted for hamas even when Fatah which arguably is better was in control. I believe they freely voted for a more radical islamic leadership voluntarily. They make our trailer trash look like highly educated noblemen.
ReplyDeleteMany Arabs are noticing that Egypt isn’t helping the Gazans. Blowing the wall open might be an eye opener when Arab fights Arab. After all, Egyptian government wants to keep the Gazans isolated as much as Israel does. I suspect that the Egyptian government might become destabilized.
ReplyDeleteMichael,
ReplyDeleteIf power were only from the sword, then there would have been no progress over the course of history.
But, of course, there has been much progress.
Not in the Muslim world, though.
I think the great warrior Geronimo summed it up when he said "They forget, that we can go to THEIR towns and kill THEM". Hamas has to learn that war is a two way street, the hard way. Evidently they are too stupid or too willing to die to get it through their heads that they are fools and dupes of the hard core jihadists, and they have been defeated numerous times over the last 65 years. They're not just idiots, they're bullet magnets.
ReplyDeleteWell, yeah, you guys pretty much summed up what I said. They knew and went for it anyway.
ReplyDeleteGood point about the Egyptians though, that will get interesting.

ReplyDelete"Power comes from the people and we can see in our own country"
That is historically incorrect.
See "The Clash of Civilizations"
Pastorius.....think of what you have said...and provide an example. You are wrong.
Michael,
ReplyDeleteWhat am I wrong about?
If power doesn't come from the people, where does it originate from? Any government without a power base of people can't exist for very long. Give me an example of such and I'll refute it.
