THE QURAN BURNING - HADITH INCLUDES AN ACOUNT OF A REVERED MUSLIM CALIPH BURNING THE QURAN

POST OF THE DAY - SCROLL DOWN FOR NEWER POSTS

burn-quran

I don’t get why Muslims are up in arms about the planned/postponed Quran burning event. First, I don’t get what kind of stupid god they believe in who gets offended every two seconds. And second, wasn’t it their own caliph that started the practice of burning Qurans? Why aren’t they burning his grave down or attacking Saudi Arabia where he’s buried?

One of the authoritative Sunni hadiths from Sahih Bukhari enlightens us thus:

“Narrated Anas bin Malik:
Hudhaifa bin Al-Yaman came to Uthman at the time when the people of Sham and the people of Iraq were Waging war to conquer Arminya and Adharbijan. Hudhaifa was afraid of their (the people of Sham and Iraq) differences in the recitation of the Qur'an, so he said to 'Uthman, "O chief of the Believers! Save this nation before they differ about the Book (Quran) as Jews and the Christians did before." So 'Uthman sent a message to Hafsa saying, "Send us the manuscripts of the Qur'an so that we may compile the Qur'anic materials in perfect copies and return the manuscripts to you." Hafsa sent it to 'Uthman. 'Uthman then ordered Zaid bin Thabit, 'Abdullah bin AzZubair, Said bin Al-As and 'AbdurRahman bin Harith bin Hisham to rewrite the manuscripts in perfect copies. 'Uthman said to the three Quraishi men, "In case you disagree with Zaid bin Thabit on any point in the Qur'an, then write it in the dialect of Quraish, the Qur'an was revealed in their tongue." They did so, and when they had written many copies, 'Uthman returned the original manuscripts to Hafsa. 'Uthman sent to every Muslim province one copy of what they had copied, and ordered that all the other Qur'anic materials, whether written in fragmentary manuscripts or whole copies, be burnt. Said bin Thabit added, "A Verse from Surat Ahzab was missed by me when we copied the Qur'an and I used to hear Allah's Apostle reciting it. So we searched for it and found it with Khuzaima bin Thabit Al-Ansari. (That Verse was): 'Among the Believers are men who have been true in their covenant with Allah.' (33.23)” Sahih Bukhari.

Now, it is well known that Muslims are hypocrites. This is just another example of hypocrisy on their part. As noted on this blog before and elsewhere, they are alright with their governments burning the Holy Bible and other books of non Islamic religious nature but when it comes to the Quran they just want to kill anyone who even thought about touching it with hands deemed unclean by Muslims.
What the above mentioned hadith shows is that burning a Quran, which is considered by Muslims of today as blasphemous, was employed as state policy by their dear caliph. He started it, go deal with him first!

I expect this from Muslims anyway. Yes, they will probably go out on the streets and endanger the lives of non Muslims all over and yes, burning a Quran would hurt their sensibilities…blah, blah, blah. What I don’t get is, where the hell’s the media when not just Bibles but Christians, human beings, are locked inside churches and then churches set on fire? Where are these so called “loving” Christians when in Indonesia, India, Pakistan, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Nigeria, Sudan, Somalia, Egypt etc their Christian brothers and sisters are burned alive every day? Where is their love when their brethren are calling for help and they turn a blind eye?

You know, the Quran burning event is probably a stupid little idea but at the end of the day, it is what the people of that church know how to stand up to the idiocy of Islam. We can sit here and criticize that church as bigots and a cult but at least they are doing something…unlike millions upon millions of other Christians/infidels that just sit on their sorry butts and switch the channel whenever the news, if ever reported, comes on about Christians being killed.

I am neither in favor of nor against the Quran burning event. I am in favor of that church’s right to express what they want and I am also in favor of us not bending over backwards for the barbarians that call themselves Muslims. If I had to pick a side today, I would definitely back the church against Muslims. And if that comes at a cost, well I am ready to pay it.

And finally my message to General Petraeus: Instead of being worried about your enemy getting ticked off, you might want to let your soldiers patrol the streets with their rifles loaded and maybe, just maybe, let them shoot the bastards that are trying to kill them and grow a pair of balls and order them to shoot to kill!

AA,
Exactly.

The media go on and on about the message that a Koran burning sends. What message does being afraid to burn a Koran send?

Americans have a legacy to defend.

Read this elsewhere but is appropriate:

What’s un-American about burning things? Americans have burned everything from ships to draft cards to bras to American Flags to their kindergarten report cards even burning bibles and things like the Book of Mormon. Heck, Sherman even burned Ga and even our longest serving US Senator burned crosses.

If anything, torching stuff must be patriotic given how much we’ve burned. The first amendment.
USE IT OR LOSE IT!

Yes, excellent post that shows our writers actually do research on Islam instead of shooting from the hip. It's the MSM that resorts to ignorant platitudes.

I would argue that burning books isn't how the free world communicates it's ideals. Book burning (and book banning)is the time honored method of repression practiced by totalitarian regimes.

I prefer that the anti-jihad movement read and quote the Koran to point out the violence and oppression that is Islam.

Booking burning and banning by governments is something I vehemently oppose. If the US government took copies of the Quran and started burning it, my post would be completely different. However, if an individual or individuals are burning their own personal property it is neither mine nor your business to meddle in their affairs. Why is this such a big deal? Its just a stupid book. Get over it.

Kevin,
We've made that argument here:

http://ibloga.blogspot.com/2010/09/on-burning-books.html

However, I also believe this:

The Obamullah sez, "We are not at war with Islam". But Islam is at war with us, and until we get a President and a government which acknowledges that fact and treats the implications seriously, we'll just have to proceed on the basis of what we know.

I like your column, but the Queeran is not 'a stupid book'.
No it is the greatest tool for evil in the history of mankind PERIOD.
IMO it should be outlawed and burned everywhere.
If it bothers anyone's so called principles....too effin bad.
I for one believe in absolute right and wrong and the Queeran is as wrong as it gets.
Kiddie porn, snuff flicks, and whatever else should be oh so protected also then?

Equating the burning of the Queeran with the Nazi book burnings is like equating the Border Fence with the Berlin Wall.

We have a bunch of issues conflating together here now.

We have Jones, the great moron.

We have equivalence of quran/bible/torah burnings.

We have the mosque

We have the Westboro baptist morons

We have the FBI transmogrifying this into a free speech intimidation issue.

We have the WELL KNOWN AND DOCUMENTED collection and destruction of all Qurans under Umar for the express purpose of ending up with a single document (who wrote those other differing documents and how ere those 'revealed' to Muhammad and then differed?)

We have the inequality of responses to burnings.

We have the penchant for islamists to threaten (GZM and Quran in the fire/toilet/garbage) and then CARRY OUT MURDER AND TERROR, and the inclination in free societies to ignore this and have a barbecue.

Let's make sure we deal with each in the right way

Pastorius,
I made your comment the "Quote of the Day" in the sidebar.

Thank you.

I'm late getting back to threads these days for a lot of reasons, one of which is the crash of my laptop, from which I do most of my blogging.

Yes, that was the quote of the day.

Also, Epanimondas has a good summary of distinctions.

It's refreshing to read others with similar concerns over these issues. I believe that followers of Islam put their religion above the patriotism and the laws the country the choose to call home. The vast majority of Muslims who migrate to the west enjoy the freedom and democracy we all value so much, yet do little to integrate or become more like us. We didn't force them to come here but when they choose to come why do we find that in some cases the fourth generation who are born and bred here not only choose not learn English but also refuse to adopt any of our culture. These people want nothing more than to force Islam upon the rest of us and consider anyone who doesn't follow their religion to be a sinner, infidel or whatever. Here in the UK we have already let this go too far. Here we have certain individuals who not only openly admit that they want nothing more than the UK to become as Islamic state, but have already managed to achieve senior positions within local government offices and departments. I truly fear for what faces my kids for their future, as Islam and It's followers become more and more of a problem in the US and the UK, we will look back at this and realise that once again we have sent out all the wrong signals to these people and we will ultimately pay the price. Those amongst us who think this isn't happening, better start to realise that if we allow this to continue they will also find themselves the victims of this cruel, violent and uncompromising so called religion.

It is quite irratating when someone who is not a muslim thinks finding one hadith about burning the quran makes him a know it all.. All this article does is show your stupidity and ignorance. You think that by writing this that you can defend the actions of someone who weanted to do it. now i know all about your human rights and free speach in the states and how you are not hypocrytes apparently but if i start on that then ill be writing for a sometime..Now let me enlighten the hadith for you and open your blind eyes to the truth.. what this hadith is saying is that when a muslim fears that his RELIGIOUS book is in danger of being corrupted by non beleivers and being treated with disrespect then the best way to discard of it would be to burn the scripture.. THere is a big difference in the intent.. but you may not understand this as judging from your article you are a illeterate who doesnt even know how to write a proper structured piece of writing.. now read this and dont bother replying to it in a negative way because i just happen to come by the article while i was looking for something else and i wont be reading your reply.
