I was fired today. From Roanoke City Social Services, serving as a damn good social worker. I was fired for having a concealed carry permit. Not the gun, the permit. I was escorted by 3 city police officers bc I am a "safety risk to the building"— Storm Durham (@chelstorrm) March 10, 2018
Questions:
ReplyDelete* Were (concealed carry) permits or was gun ownership prohibited as a condition of employment?
Was she carrying on the job and was that prohibited by her employer?
* Was there credible evidence she was brandishing or otherwise not carrying in accordance in law (while off of the job)?
* Did she imply or openly state she carried on the job, and was that (carrying concealed) prohibited by her employer?
* Was she carrying in prohibited areas (by law)? If so, how was this reported to her employer?
* Was she boasting or making reference to her permit in the workplace (was an employee ‘triggered’ and filed a harassment complaint)?
Otherwise, lawyer up and look for another job.
Sounds to me like she will soon be a wealthy lady if opts to sue them. Unless this office holds written policy with her signature affirming policy to support this dismissal...she will win.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous, she implies, but does not specifically state, that she did not carry at work.
ReplyDeleteDiscussing the fact that she has a concealed carry permit ought not get her, or anyone, fired.
That would be like discussing the fact that one has alcohol in their home. Others may not drink, but there is no reason to forbid discussion of an adult choice that a human being is free to make in this nation.
ReplyDeleteThat is like firing someone for being against cruel and unusual punishment. Not a smart move unless there is a lot more to this a story.
ReplyDeleteRoanoke, Virginia?
ReplyDeleteGood Lord! It IS Roanoke, Virginia!
ReplyDeleteHas Roanoke turned blue?
