I've lost count of the number of times I have been asked that. It brings a nostalgic tear to my eye.

Having worked as a teaching assistant for large service classes and dealt with roughly 1000 undergrads in total, I can say with complete statistical confidence that many are not fit for university work. They would have been better off getting some sort of job training instead of wasting four years at university just because that's what mommy and daddy wanted and are willing to pay through the nose for.

Of course, the blood-sucking universities and colleges are not going to tell them that and will keep perpetuating credentialism because they are all propped up by usurious tuition fees and funding based on head count.

Isn't that ironic? Paying, with your hard-earned money, for your kids to be indoctrinated by far-left and Islamist propagandists in academia. Even military colleges are quietly being infiltrated.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19209018.post-85999753334546163822008-10-25T20:46:00.000+01:002008-10-25T20:46:00.000+01:00My father was a CEO and never went to college. Education is what you make of it.

The motto of the college I went to was, "Is this going to be on the test."

That's what the people I went to school made of their education. They were a bunch of sheep.Pastoriushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03169561459129778670noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19209018.post-74389601947999013242008-10-25T19:29:00.000+01:002008-10-25T19:29:00.000+01:00All this confirms a suspicion that's been growing ...All this confirms a suspicion that's been growing in me for several years. Our civilization has fallen into a dangerous kind of 'autopilot thinking'.

On a number of occasions, while discussing education with other parents having young children, I have stunned my listener by stating that - I don't have a college fund set up for my kids, I don't intend to get one, and I'd really rather that they did something else anyway.

"But, but, but don't you want your kids to succeed??" they invariably blurt out (or something to that effect). To which I respond - I guess we just have different notions of success - I prefer teaching my kids "TO THINK" rather than "WHAT TO THINK".

And then when the tendons begin to bulge out on their necks, I say -"Besides, I don't want them getting liver disease". As their eyes grow big, I add - we live in THE AGE OF INFORM-ATION not the AGE OF IN-FORMATION. And besides, we now have the Internet at our disposal.

More often than not, that prompts them to probe at MY 'level of education' which handily opens the door to demonstrating just how little they, (and your typical 'higher education' lemming), really knows about the salient issues of our age.

Homeschool Baby!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19209018.post-83801729092688704292008-10-25T17:18:00.000+01:002008-10-25T17:18:00.000+01:00Ayers & Dorhn implore your kids to support the...Ayers & Dorhn implore your kids to support the 'huge array' of eccentric outliers/speaker-uppers like Ward Churchill of academia especially if they successfully change the political landscape.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19209018.post-82020003870248884242008-10-25T17:10:00.000+01:002008-10-25T17:10:00.000+01:00True, but probably irrelevant50% of Voters Believe...True, but probably irrelevant

50% of Voters Believe Ayers Issue Has Hurt McCain Campaign
Just 28% of voters believe that John McCain’s campaign has been helped by talking about the relationship between Barack Obama and William Ayers. A Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey found that 50% believe talk of that issue has hurt McCain’s effort while 15% say it has had no impact.

Whether we like it or not, this election is not about Ayers, Jihadis, or even oil dependence...in reality it's probably about who has the most memorable commercial which inculcates the feeling in the voter that his or her family will not be standing around over a fire in a garbage can in 2 years after looking for glass bottles to return for deposit along the interstate.

Fear.

We are voting from fear, and not staunch determination to succeed.

Obama is a socialist and McCain simply cannot communicate effectively enough.

Who has hired the better ad guys is probably the most effective measure of aptitude in who has what it takes to get elected - which has nothing to do with who would be a better prez.Epaminondashttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04811906954763827459noreply@blogger.com
