Blogging the Jihad in Trinidad and Tobago

Longtime Gates of Vienna commenter Uncle Pavian has started his own blog, Eleven North, and will be covering events in Trinidad and Tobago.

His most recent post concerns sheikh Yasin Abu Bakr:
Trinidad and Tobago Islamist leader Yasin Abu Bakr spent the night behind bars after a judge denied him bail and bound him over for trial on charges of terrorism, sedition, inciting larceny and breaching the peace.

Mr. Bakr is the leader of the Jamaat-al-Muslimeen, a group best known for a failed coup attempt on July 27, 1990, in which 24 people were killed.
You didn’t know the jihad was active in Trindad? Well, neither did I, until recently.

Go over to Uncle Pavian’s place to read the rest.

  2. Yes, it's a serious problem from what I've gathered over the past number of months. And it's not limited to Trinidad but is spreading across the Caribbean and into South America.

This should be a great addition to our collective effort. Once we see the spread of Islam into the West Indies, the Caribbean, and South and Central America we might get a real sense of urgency.

To qoute Patton out of context: "God help me, but I love it."

I see this as the great movement toward universal liberty of private men and women and the triumph of human decency. This struggle gets deeper and spreads farther daily, and to fix it we'll have to do more than fuss with Iraq. The whole world must change, and there's no hope of us not changing it if we are to survive. What a great thing we are here to do.
