I feel uncomfortable at some of the comments left here and feel that I am fighting a battle with those who should be fighting for other things.
Here's my draft Infidel Manifesto. Haven't come up with the rules yet - if there are to be any 'rules'.
Feel free to deride or complement, append or subtract as appropriate. All input is welcome!
1. We support Muslims who are in a process of awakening and enlightenment to modern day civilisation.
2. We oppose attempts to treat Muslims as one bloc of peoples, the greatest opponents of Islam have been those who have grown up as Muslim, such as the courageous soul Sir Salmon Rushdie.
3. We take pride in our culture and defend it's values, to not to do so would be to communicate weakness and to go down a very slippery road to self-abasement and appeasement.
4. We act wherever possible with pride, courage, intelligence, and of course humour, for these are the values that will ultimately win over souls.
5. We attempt to understand the nature of the battle of the Islamists so that we are always ahead of the game. Make no mistake, we will not sit idly by.
6. We support the modernisation of the middle east through economic reform, and following poltical and social reform. This can be achieved through removing the element of dependancy on oil.
7. We support the victims of Islamic rule and those who are subjugated in it's name.
Might as well have a split in the ranks of the anti-Islam movement now into good anti-Islamists and bad anti-Islamists who differ in means. Then the anti-Islamists will be able to play the same "good cop, bad cop" game that Muslims play.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous,
ReplyDeleteYour point is well taken. I have written on the "good cop/bad cop" strategy of the Islamists as well.
Here's the thing; me and Jonz just kind of happened upon each other and wound up working together without knowing too much about what we both think. But, as we have talked, I realize he and I have a tremendous amount in common.
Can you name anyone who has been a more consistent voice in the blogosphere for the counter-Jihad than me?
Well, I can name one person; Pamela at Atlas Shrugs. And, she is a contributor here too.
The point is, as much as I hate Islamofascism, as much as I hate the ideology of Islam, as much as I hate Sharia, as much as I hate the fact that there is no widely-represented moderate Islam
ANYWHERE IN THE WHOLE FUCKING WORLD
I do, along with Jonz, reject the idea of lumpint all Muslims in together.
And, why do I do that?
Because it is fucking stupid.
Muslims are human beings, and all human beings are multi-layered and conflicted. No one lives without doubt and emotional/intellectual/moral conflict in their lives.
In other words, all human beings are a house divided against themselves.
What Jonz is saying here is we need to understand that there are decent human beings, who happen to be Muslim, and who can be motivated to deal with that inner conflict in a way where they can overcome their slavery, and they can become contributing members of a free society.
Hirsi Ali, Irhad Maji, and Ali Sina
are just a few examples of decent human beings who have found their way our of their enslavement.
Hear hear Patorius.
ReplyDeleteWe need to encourage the next generation of Hirsi Ali's and Ali Sina's.
If we are to free Muslims from their enslavement, we must free Jews & Christians from their enslavement. That way we'll avoid giving the impression that we are nothing but condescending twats.
ReplyDeleteIt's surely possible to be anti-islam without lumping all muslims together with the crazies?
ReplyDeleteSimply by refusing to accommodate the demands of the ideology at all here in the West. No special treatment, no favours, no censorship to avoid hurting their feelings, no prayer times set aside in work places...you guys know the list, better than me.
If we adamantly reject all special considerations for muslims, just how attractive would islam be for new recruits here in the West?
I forgot the point of the post. Yup, a pretty good set of guidelines, imho. :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks Kg. Yup Agree with all that. We just need to ensure that the general message here at infidels is not hatred towards muslims but an olive branch to those who are waking up, and perhaps a grenade to those who want to oppress and kill those who do not share their beliefs.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous, this site has really sprung up in response to islamic terror attacks around the world. I would agree, if it were for the fact that christians and jews were killing others in the name of religion, but they are not.
I don't think singling out Islam as a particularly being a vicious, oppressive and violent faith is condescending.
I can quote you several verses from the Quran and Hadith that tell you to murder the unbeliever. I challenge you to do the same with Christianity or Judaism.
You know what, Jonz?
ReplyDeleteI think Anonymous is right.
I think we overemphasize our subtelty.
Just because someone posts as 'anonymous' don't go assuming that the he/she is sympathetic to Islam. That does not follow. I'm pretty sure that you'll far excel 'anonymous' in your superior logic.
ReplyDeleteSo, the Jews and Christians are not killing anyone? You gotta be kiddin me!
Christians, Jews, and Muslims are as bad as each other.
We know where the roots of all three lies.
