Where America Went Wrong

Ayn Rand once said in an interview that the problem with Americans is their not understanding the concept of individual rights and what type of actions violate rights.

Below is a recording of a "fireside chat" given by President Franklin D. Roosevelt on January 11, 1944. It is only a little over five minutes long. All Americans concerned about the future of their country should take the time to listen to it. An transcript excerpt is here.

Note that at the beginning he speaks of the rights to life and liberty. He goes on to list the other basic rights from our in the Bill of Rights including "free speech, free press, free worship." What he doesn't mention is the right of private property, with good reason. He then goes on to assert "that we have accepted a second bill of rights." These so called "rights" are economic in nature. Roosevelt also had the audacity to explicitly state that the "normalcy" of the 1920s, i.e. liberty, was the cause of fascism. Of course, Roosevelt spent his time in office stealing from some in order to provide these "rights" to others. These so-called rights include, but are not limited to:

The right of every farmer to raise and sell his products at a return which will give him and his family a decent living;

The right to adequate medical care and the opportunity to achieve and enjoy good health;

The right to adequate protection from the economic fears of old age, sickness, accident, and unemployment;

All of these rights spell security. And after this war is won we must be prepared to move forward, in the implementation of these rights, to new goals of human happiness and well-being.
This form of legalized theft under the guise of providing "rights" is now the main function of American government at all levels. Now the nation is reaping the fruits of becoming a giant "robbers' den," just as Rome did.

In the last several months, all over the country, Tea Parties have been organized and actuated. The State-Run media is now too busy "reporting" on the death of Michael Jackson and their demigod Walter Cronkite to bother reporting on this grassroot groundswell of protest against the Obama-Pelosi gang.

In order for the Tea Parties to be effective they must reject the false "rights" promulgated by Roosevelt, Bush I & II, Obama, Pelosi, Reid and the large band of the completely clueless who are in charge of the Republican Party.

At the July 4 Tea Party in Boston John Lewis made an excellent beginning to this task with his speech on the nature of individual rights and why Americans need to reputiate the "economic rights" of the real fascists while we still can:
