Welcome To The Shari'a States Of America

The trademark registration has been refused for the following banner, designed by Stop Islamization of America (SIOA):

A portion of the refusal notice:
The applied-for mark refers to Muslims in a disparaging manner because by definition it implies that conversion or conformity to Islam is something that needs to be stopped or caused to cease....The proposed mark further disparages Muslims because, taking into account the nature of the services (“providing information regarding understanding and preventing terrorism”), it implies that Islam is associated with violence and threats....The trademark examining attorney refers to the excerpted articles from the LEXISNEXIS® computerized database referencing how many Muslims view terrorists as illegitimate adherents of Islam....Therefore, the suggestion that Islam equates terrorism would be disparaging to a substantial group of Muslims.

Accordingly, the applied-for mark is refused under Section 2(a) because it consists of matter which may disparage or bring into contempt or disrepute Muslims and the Islamic religion.
This ad, however, is a-okay:

Or how about this one?

I can't say if the above bus ads for Why Islam? bear registered trademarks.

But, clearly, the governing municipalities where those ads appear on buses are not offended by the lie that Islam is the way of Abraham, Moses, and Jesus. It's a-okay to post that lie all over the place.

As I said in the title of this post, "Welcome to the Shari'a States of America," wherein Islam gets preferential treatment, i.e., shari'a.

Sponsor an SIOA bus ad here. While you still have the freedom to do so.

  3. AOW,
It doesn't matter that the other banners are ok.

The point here is they turned down a trademark because they don't agree with the content of artwork.

That's fucking absurd on the face of it.

It's none of their business what the artwork says.

This is the most absurd thing I have ever heard.

I have to wonder if this is THE FIRST TIME A TRADEMARK HAS EVER BEEN TURNED DOWN BECAUSE "THE TRADEMARK EXAMINING ATTORNEY" DIDN'T AGREE WITH THE CONTENT.

    I'll bet you it is.

That's fucking absurd on the face of it.

And pure dhimmitude and/or the promotion of Islamic supremacy.

  5. Do you know if I am right that this is the first time this has ever happened?

  6. Pastorius,
I don't know if such is the case.
