Three American troops were reported killed and the bodies of 11 men, some beheaded, were found Friday in rising violence across Afghanistan.Mohammad Khan, deputy police chief in Uruzgan province, said a villager in the Bagh Char area of Khas Uruzgan district spotted the bodies in a field and called police."They were killed because the Taliban said they were spying for the government, working for the government," he said.
No doubt this was the militant faction of the otherwise moderate wing of the military arm of the Taliban, hmmm?
The theory of PAYING ATTENTION only to the optimistic evidence when negotiating peace would sense that if they could only talk to the political arm of the political Taliban, all would be well.
A massive, unmissable presence of men and arms by the USA might counteract the moral sureness of beheadings in the way of Allah. Seeing and hearing B-1's thundering past in the sky might give pause. Smelling the putrefying bodies of America's enemies, the enemies of the PEOPLE of America, might establish the kind of credibility that brings in intelligence to keep your village from becoming the mud powder which is the by product of JDAMS.
But helping persuade opium farmers they are better off raising bulghur wheat while the Taliban sharpen their ginstu's in the next village untrammeled by western conscience, as they prepare to fight, kill and die in the way of Allah IS A LOSING MESSAGE.
