The protest was organized by the Bay People Inc., the organization created by the people living in the Sheepshead Bay area of Brooklyn, NY. Between 200 and 300 people showed up.

In 1994-1996, I used to live just a few blocks away from the place of the proposed mosque the construction of which is pushed by the MAS, the radical Muslim American Society, a front group for the Muslim Brotherhood, the organization which fathered Hamas and CAIR. Most of the area's residents are Italians, Jews and Russians.

One of the speakers at the protest said that according to the latest census, only around 400 Muslims live in this entire zip code, but the proposed mosque is meant for up to 1,500.

The Bay People Inc. hired a group of attorneys to help them fight the Islamization of the area, and according to one of the protest organizers, they have already won the first battle -- the construction of the minaret was banned.

The lady with a microphone is one of the organizers of the protest. She's been living in the neighborhood for 30 years, and for the for 20 years has been a teacher in the elementary school half a block away from this place. She raised a valid point that if the mosque is built, it will create, among other things, a huge traffic congestion in the area which will greatly endanger school kids running around.

Another speaker, a gentleman in his late 70's, said that he lived in the neighborhood for 76 years and wanted to preserve the high quality of life he has been enjoying for so long.

"Stop Islamization! Save our neighborhood!!!"
"Our quality of life is not for sale!"

Local TV channel Brooklyn Independent Television was there filming the protest and interviewing organizers and protesters.

The lady in a white T-shirt later told me she's an Italian and has been living in the neighborhood for almost 30 years. She said that if the Islamization isn't stopped, we will be faced with what is happening in Europe and Israel.

This is where they want to build the mosque -- squeezed between one-family houses and a co-op apartment building in the background. Can you imagine a loud bleating 5 times a day, every day, calling to prayer in a residential area populated by Italians, Jews and Russians? I can't.

"I already own an alarm clock, do not wake me up with a call to prayer!"

The gentleman with a microphone said his brother was killed in the WTC on 9/11. The building of this mosque, just as the one proposed 2 blocks away from the WTC site, is not just abominable but also disrespectful to the victims of Islamic terrorism.
