Does anyone speak Arabic please?

From Vlad Tepes:

This is purported to be two million people in Egypt chanting: “WE GO TO JERUSALEM, MARTYRS IN THE MILLIONS”

If that is accurate, and this is a real event, I would like to add that text to the video in English and reupload it.

THANKS TO AVENGING APOSTATE:

Congratulations people of egypt

My darling Palestine, your the inspiration to all for freedom

this is the generation of the people

long live the crescent with the cross

we were waiting for arab unity, we now have an arab awakening

we pray that this revival would be an islamic one

yes to revolutions that shakes the corrupt

Allah give victory to nations if they revolut for truth

Now I finally understand the saying that Egypt is the mother of nations

Martyrs but strong people

stones will fall one by one ( I think it says stone, could be something like bad politicians)

till when will there be injustice O rulers of the arabs

The success in freeing egypt and tunisia is one step closer to freeing palestine

Allah protect the gulf from every evil and protect its rulers

congratulations on the historic victory people of egypt

O people of egypt, refuse any help from outsiders (America) its just bait

I love you my country

the wind of freedom has crossed the arab nations

Allah grant victory to the righteous and smite the wicked

  1. Pastorius,

The ticker at the bottom (in red) reads (roughly): 3 Million people swarning in Tahrir grounds/field (Tahrir Square?) to celebrate their victory and support the implementation of their demands.

That's a rough translation. Alex has forwarded me your email, I am working on the translation (don't know if its related).

  2. Thank you.

What I'd like to know is what is the crowd chanting?

  3. I can hardly make out "Allah al Karim", but I'm still not sure. I hear Israel (or Isra-eel, as they say it in Arabic) but I would be lying if I could say anything for sure.

I am working on translating the ticker text that people are texting in. I will post it here as a comment once I am done.

I can tell you that the first one says: "Oh God, Victory of Nasreddin". Nasreddin can mean "helper of the faith" or just a name. I am not really sure what the text means.

Anyway, I am working on them all and will post the translation as best as I can and will also, in the meantime, ask an Egyptian friend of mine to help me with the translation.

  4. Alright, don't hold me to it but I have been listening to the chanting over and over and this is what it sounds like:

"Al Mawt Al Israil--Wallah el Kerim" -- "The Death of Israel--Allah is Holy"

I might be completely off though.

  5. AA,

    If you heard :-
===" Al Mawt Al Israil-- "===
    or,
    ===" القذافي هو اليهودي " (Gadaffi is a Jew ) ===

Then you have the real stuff !...

    Good luck.

    Alex.

  6. I can't make out a thing.
We need someone who is good at filtering to get what is being chanted, and then an xlation.

In the end Mitzrayim only means one thing for jews. ANYWHERE.

So it has ever been, so it shall ever be.

    Color me utterly cynical.

Whatever is being chanted it is not, 'tantawi was wrong about what the quran sez about jews'

  7. Lol. Epa, I was hoping you could help us out. But I am translating the ticker and so far, to my ears at least, they are chanting either "death of Israel" or "death to Israel" followed by either "Allah is holy" or Allah-el-ezim, "Allah is the magnificent."

Again, I might be wrong. They are chanting like wussies! :-P

  8. Alright, here's the best that I could do. I have, meanwhile, asked an Egyptian friend of mine to help translate this too. He listened to the video and can't make out anything but he is going to try and translate the Arabic SMS ticker (the white one). The Arabic text is all kinds of different Arabic dialects so it is hard to translate but I have tried to do it the best I could. If I wasn't sure of something, I put a (?) at the end. The comments in [] are mine. Hope this helps.

Oh God, Victory of Nasreddin. [Nasreddin can mean "helper of the faith" or just a name. I am not really sure what the text means.]

There is a stone in the stagnant water called Abu Ezizi [a reference to the young fruitseller killed by the authorities, which in turn sparked the protests] for the latest change(?)

Blessed are you [or congratulations to you], the people of Egypt, [and] Sheikh Qaradawi – By ARKAN from PARIS

Self-esteem to live or die with dignity – Mother Meshaal from Yemen?

This is the time of the people.(?)

May the Crescent [Islam] live with the Cross [Christianity].

We were waiting for Arab unity and missed the Arab awakening [apparently meaning to say, “We were hoping only for Arab unity but got Arab awakening instead”].

We hope to Allah that this is the Islamic awakening [maybe in response to the above comment].

Yes, the revolutions that shook the corrupt.

Oh Allah, May the right rise and name the oppressors(?)

Now the world understands the meaning of old Egypt(?)

Martyrs but strong (Sacred Religion) [Note: the Parentheses here are as per the original text)

Tyrants are falling one after the other – by Musa Al Hamidi

Allah’s blessings be on Mohammed [the prophet]

How long the injustice O leaders of Arabs – by Al Salahi

Revolutions that saved Tunisia and Egypt are but a step in the way of the liberation of Palestine – From Oman [Yup, right in my neighborhood].

Oh God, save the Gulf [a reference to GCC-Bahrain, Oman, Qatar, UAE, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait] and save the leaders, O Lord.

Congratulations on the great historical victory, O beloved people of Egypt. – From Saada, Yemen.

Spirit of Gamal Abd al Nasser is flying with you in Tahrir Square – Jamal of Yemen

O beloved youth of Egypt, refuse any outside (American) help because they taste. [Note: Parentheses are in the Arabic and also this sentence ended abruptly but I am guessing it is saying to not take the help of Americans because once they get the taste for your country, they won’t leave. So basically, Americans are imperialists. Oh, where have I heard that before!!!].

    I love you my country.

The winds of freedom to the Arab nation – Omani [From Oman]

Emancipation of the Arab Nation from the clutches of the suppression of the rulers. This is your path to a decent life (?) – Omani [From Oman]
