LONDON — Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said Tuesday that the US and Western allies should not stir up pro-democracy protests in the Middle East following the uprisings in Egypt and Tunisia. They could do a little bit better by making clear that we don't need to take the side of the Islamists, that's for sure. This is exactly why they're not pro-democracy protests, and if the demonstrators in Egypt, for example, have signaled anti-Israelism, that too should be telling something.
After meeting with members of Britain's government, Lavrov warned against any attempts by other nations to fuel public dissent.
In recent days Iran's opposition has taken to the streets of central Tehran, while demonstrators have held protests in Bahrain and Yemen.
"We are convinced that calls for revolutions are counterproductive. We have had more than one revolution in Russia, and we believe that we don't need to impose revolutions on others," Lavrov told reporters. "We don't think that we need to tighten the screw, or take sides."
All of us, every single man, woman, and child on the face of the Earth were born with the same unalienable rights; to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. And, if the governments of the world can't get that through their thick skulls, then, regime change will be necessary.

Russian FM asks US not to encourage mideast protests
Here's another example of a foreign politician who's making more sense than an American one:
Advice from those who sell weapons and technology to IRAN!
ReplyDeleteThose who have fostered their nuclear advancement.
He may be right, but this is none the less hypocrisy of the highest order.
He is right, the current world order suppresses these people from radicalizing if and when they radicalize its gonna be big truble for all of us. :(
ReplyDeleteI personally love Russia( they are crazy though ), infact all Indians love Russia. ;).
I would choose Russia as an enemy to the west over Islam anytime. What the US should do is that it should put the godless communism as an opposing Ideology in these countries to oppose Islam. That should take care of these savages for about half a decade ;).
What do you think???Can communism be a useful tool against these basterds??
ACE(india),
ReplyDeleteGood point, unless polls showing a majority of the people in those regions want death to apostates and Sharia are wrong, we have good reason to think that any government chosen by the people in that region of the world will not be friendly to us, or support our interests. As for Communism being an effective weapon against Islam, its doubtful.
