We think about exit strategies.
They think about our defeat.
We think about avoiding collateral damage.
They identify the 29 most sensitive targets without regard (literally) for what civilian casualties might result. They haven’t looked, and they don’t care because the idea is to impose their will.
This is another Cassandra moment in this blog, where the frustration of saying these things for YEARS creates a pressure likely to blow out my front teeth.
We ask of the free nations, if this prediction is correct, Jim Malone’s question.
WaPo:
Iran, perceiving threat from West, willing to attack on U.S. soil, U.S. intelligence report finds
U.S. intelligence agencies believe that Iran is prepared to launch terrorist attacks inside the United States in response to perceived threats from America and its allies, the U.S. spy chief said Tuesday.Director of National Intelligence James R. Clapper Jr. said in prepared testimony that an alleged Iranian plot to assassinate the Saudi ambassador in Washington that was uncovered last year reflects an aggressive new willingness within the upper ranks of the Islamist republic to authorize attacks against the United States. That plot “shows that some Iranian officials — probably including Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei — have changed their calculus and are now more willing to conduct an attack in the United States in response to real or perceived U.S. actions that threaten the regime,” Clapper said in the testimony, which was submitted to the Senate Intelligence Committee in advance of athreat assessment hearing Tuesday. “We are also concerned about Iranian plotting against U.S. or allied interests overseas.”The assessment signals a potentially dire new direction in the adversarial relationship between the United States and Iran, at a time when there are indications that a covert campaign is already underway to thwart Iran’s alleged ambition to develop a nuclear weapon.Clapper’s warning about Iran was delivered as part of the U.S. intelligence community’s annual overview of the nation’s most serious national security concerns.
I will end this with Hasan Abassi’s (born in 1967 is an Iranian political analyst doctrinologist & strategist, the head of the Center for Doctrinal Analysis, an independent political strategic think-tank in the Islamic Republic and also counter-terrorism advanced study center) warning of 2006:
”The infidels — Western countries and America — are the sworn enemies of God and Muslems and any action taken to terrorize them or frighten them is considered holy and a source of pride.” Abbasi went on, “Lebanese Hezbollah, Islamic Jihad and Hamas have all been trained by these hands,” that is, Iranian hands.“We have identified some 29 weak points for attacks in the U.S. and in the West, we intend to explode some 6,000 American atomic warheads, we have shared our intelligence with other guerilla groups and we shall utilize them as well. We have set up a department to cover England and we have had discussions regarding them[;] we have contacted the Mexicans and the Argentineans and will work with anyone who has an axe to grind with America.”
Of course the idea of 6,000 warheads is absurd, but suppose the IRGC Quds Force commando units are here to get ONE, or blow ONE reactor, or ONE Union Carbide Chem plant (can you say Bhopal)
Normally I would say, they are nuts since any act of war like that would result in outright WW2 size reaction from the USA. But do they have the measure of the administration, whose entire emphasis in the outbreak of hostilities would be to turn it off?

ReplyDeleteBut they welcome just that, don't they? It's their whole point. There are many from the Hojjatieh amongst their leaders. Mahdists. Bring on the Apocalypse.
Waiting for the slimy little prick to crawl out of the well.
And whatever happened to Dr. Paul Williams? He called this, too.
ReplyDeleteIf their plan is to detonate that many nuclear warheads in the US, why would anyone in Mexico try to make it easier? It's like asking someone to blow up a car you're standing next to. And why would the drug cartels want to see their customer base disappear?
ReplyDeleteBenue, no one believes a number like 6,000, it's nutz, but ONE? Or a successful IRGC Quds Force commando attack on a reactor?
ReplyDeleteMexican drug cartels would be completely unaffected.
