All of us, every single man, woman, and child on the face of the Earth were born with the same unalienable rights; to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. And, if the governments of the world can't get that through their thick skulls, then, regime change will be necessary.
Traffic on New York City bridges was reportedly shut down as demonstrators marched in traffic lanes over the Brooklyn, Manhattan and Triboro bridges as peaceful protests occurred in 90 cities across the U.S.
Thousands of people rallied late on Monday in cities including Los Angeles and Washington, D.C., to passionately but peacefully protest a grand jury's decision not to indict a white police officer who killed a black 18-year-old in Ferguson, Missouri.
They led marches, waved signs and shouted chants of 'Hands Up! Don't Shoot,' the slogan that has become a rallying cry in protests over police killings across the country....
This morning I also heard (on Fox & Friends) the narrative shifted to using these protests as lessons to be included in school textbooks under the topic of social justice -to be included with lessons about Rosa Parks and Martin Luther King.
1. Any individual, regardless of color, should reach the same conclusion the Grand Jury members did after reviewing the evidence.
2. The one major issue here, other than the fact that youth should be taught to follow the law, not to use drugs, and act responsively, is that the Ferguson police force DID NOT REFLECT the make up of the Ferguson population. Would we be having this turmoil should officer Wilson be black? Probably so, but then, the question would have been: whose life should be sacrificed in a situation like this? The young man who chose to follow a career in law enforcement to help his community, or the young man who chose to do whatever felt good regardless of consequences? Personal responsibility has to start playing a role at some point.

ReplyDeleteRegardless of other wrongs, cases should indeed be judged on their own merits. Isn't that the way our justice system is supposed to work?
And exactly what would have satisfied the Ferguson protesters?
