“Thousands of migrants have broken through police lines into Macedonia at the country’s border with Greece. Macedonian police are reported to have fired stun grenades in response.
A huge number of migrants – many of them refugees from the war in Syria – has built up in recent days, after Macedonia sealed its southern border and declared a state of emergency. Most wish to travel through Macedonia and Serbia to reach northern Europe, via Hungary.
Macedonian security forces had been expected to let several hundred migrants in at a time on Saturday to coincide with train departures north towards Serbia and the rest of Europe. But some migrants broke through police lines when authorities tried to let a small group with young children through, the Associated Press reported. Some people were injured as police tried to block their path, the agency said.Greece is in the midst of a financial collapse. The country is ripe for the taking.
Look at the map. What do you think is going to happen? And how long do you think it will take for it to happen?
Greece today, Rome tomorrow?
ReplyDeleteWhat about just trying to take a train from Belgium to France? What about just showing up at your local deli in Paris for 500 grams of lunch meat?
Stay-cation in America or vacation in Europe?
Hmmm.
The Last English Prince
Is it not amazing how these "refugees" can sneak across more than 1000 miles of what is effectively a police state, Muslim Turkey, which also has one of the biggest standing armies in the world. What a good thing this good European Nato friend of Obama is on our side.
ReplyDeletePrediction: Turkey will fall to ISIS.
ReplyDeleteProbably. So will France, Italy, and Greece ...
ReplyDeleteunless something very dramatic happens in the next five years.
Greece: been there / done that, didn't learn anything the first time around.
ReplyDeleteItaly: around the time Pope Frankenstein converts to Islam.
France: has a shot at survival. A 6th republic will be an Islamic Republic but La France has a healthy aversion to anything not French. That attitude may preserve them in the long run. If they look for help from the Anglosphere again it will not be forthcoming so that could be the Achilles heel.
I was talking with a Greek man about the Greek financial crisis a few weeks back. He was a Conservative American Greek man and he knew full well what was causing the Greek financial crisis.
ReplyDeleteI asked him if he was aware of the migrant crisis and he piped up about the Muslims.
So he knew about that too.
Then I asked him if he thought Greece was in danger of being overrun by Muslims through Turkey.
He said no chance.
So, as you said, Been there done that. Learned nothing.
