The Racist Lie That "White, Christian Males" Are Responsible for Most Terrorism in the United States

This has become commonplace.

The other day, Sentaor Sherrod Brown claimed "Generally White Males" are to blame for terrorism in the United Staes.

Today, Vox has an article in which Dalia Mogahed charges,
"The majority of domestic terror attacks are actually committed by white, male Christians. Now that's just the facts."
But, is it?

NO.

Here's a list of Terror attacks in the United States since 2010:

  • 2010 February 18: Austin suicide attack: Andrew Joseph Stack III flying his single engine plane flew into the Austin Texas IRS building killing himself and one IRS employee and injuring 13 others. Stack left a suicide note online, comparing the IRS to Big Brother from the novel 1984.
  • 2010 March 4: 2010 Pentagon shooting: John Patrick Bedell shot and wounded two Pentagon police officers at a security checkpoint in the Pentagon station of the Washington Metrorapid transit system in Arlington County, Virginia.
  • 2010 September 1: Discovery Communications headquarters hostage crisis: James J. Lee, armed with two starter pistols and an explosive device, takes three people hostage in the lobby of the Discovery Communications headquarters in Silver Spring, Maryland before being killed by police. After nearly four hours, Lee was shot dead by police and all the hostages were freed without injury. Lee had earlier posted a manifesto railing against population growth and immigration.[69][70]
  • 2012 August 5: Wisconsin Sikh temple shooting: Six people were killed and three others were injured, including a police officer who was tending to victims at a Sikh temple in Oak Creek, Wisconsin. The gunman, 40-year-old Wade Michael Page, killed himself after being shot by police.[71] The shooting is being treated by authorities as an act of domestic terrorism.[72][73] While a motive has not been clearly defined Page had been active in white supremacist groups.[71]
  • 2013 April 15: Boston Marathon bombings: Two bombs detonated within seconds of each other near the finish line of the Boston Marathon, killing 3 and injuring more than 180 people.[74][75] Late in the evening of April 18 inCambridge, Massachusetts an MIT campus police officer was shot and killed while sitting in his squad car. Two suspects then carjacked an SUV and fled to nearby Watertown, Massachusetts, a suburb of Boston. A massive police chase ensued, resulting in a shootout during which several IED's were thrown by the suspects. A Boston transit police officer was critically wounded and suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev, a Russian immigrant of Chechenethnicity, was killed. The second suspect, Tsarnaev's younger brother Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, escaped. A "Shelter in place" order was given for Boston, Watertown, and the surrounding areas while house-to-house searches were conducted, but the suspect remained at large. Shortly after the search was called off Tsarnaev was discovered by a local resident hiding inside a boat parked in the resident's driveway less than three blocks from the scene of the shootout. He was taken into custody after another exchange of gunfire and taken to nearby Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, where he was treated for injuries received during his pursuit and capture. Tsarnaev was arraigned on federal terrorism charges from his hospital bed on April 22, 2013.[76][77][78][79] Preliminary questioning indicated the Tsarnaev brothers had no ties to terrorist organizations.[80] A note written by Dzhokhar Tsarnaev on the boat where he was captured said the bombings were retaliation for US actions in Iraq and Afghanistan against Muslims.[81] On April 8, 2015 Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was found guilty on all 30 counts related to the bombing and shootout with police.[82] On May 15, 2015 Tsarnaev was sentenced to death.[83]
  • 2013 April 16: April 2013 ricin letters: Two letters, sent to Mississippi Republican Senator Roger Wicker and president Barack Obama, were tested positive for ricin. Each letter contained the message "I am KC and I approve this message". On April 27, 2013, a man named Everett Dutschke was arrested.
  • 2013 November 1: 2013 Los Angeles International Airport shooting: Paul Anthony Ciancia entered the checkpoint at the Los Angeles International Airport and fired his rifle, killing one Transportation Security Administrationofficer and injuring six others. The motivation behind the attack was Paul's inspiration of the anti-government agenda, such as believing in the New World Order conspiracy theory, and stating that he "wanted to kill TSA" and described them as "pigs".
  • 2013 December 13: 2013 Wichita bomb attempt: 58-year-old avionics technician, identified as Terry Lee Loewen, was arrested on December 13, 2013, for attempting a suicide bombing at Wichita Mid-Continent Airport, where he was employed. Loewen became radicalized after reading extremist Islamic material on the Internet. He was arrested while driving a vehicle into the airport with what he believed to be an active explosive device. Later sentenced to 20 years in Federal prison.[84]
  • 2014 April 13: Overland Park Jewish Community Center shooting: A pair of shootings committed by a lone gunman occurred at the Jewish Community Center of Greater Kansas City and Village Shalom, a Jewish retirement community, in Overland Park, Kansas. A total of three people died in the shootings. One suspect, identified as Frazier Glenn Miller, Jr., a neo-Nazi neo-Pagan, was arrested and charged with capital murder, first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, and aggravated assault.
  • 2014 June 8: 2014 Las Vegas shootings: Two police officers and one civilian died in a shooting spree in the Las Vegas Valley committed by a couple, identified as Jerad and Amanda Miller, who espoused anti-government views and were reportedly inspired by the outcome of the Bundy standoff. The Millers both died during a gunfight with responding police; Jerad Miller was fatally shot by officers, while Amanda Miller committed suicide after being wounded.
  • 2014 October 23: 2014 New York City hatchet attack: Zale Thompson injured two New York City police officers, once critically at a Queens, New York shopping district by striking them with a hatchet. 4 officers were posing for a photograph when Thompson charged them. The police opened fire killing Thompson and injuring a bystander. Thompson who converted to Islam 2 years before the attack posted "anti-government, anti-Western, anti-white" messages online.[85]
  • 2014 November 28: Austin, Texas: Right-wing and anti-government extremist Larry Steven McQuilliams set a fire at the Mexican Consulate and shot towards several government buildings. Police arrived on scene and shot him dead. McQuilliams had a prior criminal history including drug possession and robbery.
  • 2014 December: "The Guardians of Peace" linked by the United States to North Korea launched a cyber attack against SONY pictures. Embarrassing private emails were published and the organization threatened attacks against theaters that showed The Interview, a satire which depicted the assassination of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. Following the refusal of theater chains to show the movie, SONY Pictures withdrew release of the movie, a decision that was criticized by President Obama and others. Obama said the USA will respond. North Korea denied responsibility for the attack and proposed a joint investigation with the U.S.[86][87][88]
  • 2014 December 20: Ismaaiyl Brinsley assassinated New York City police officers Rafael Ramos and Wenjian Liu in the Bedford Stuyvesant section of Brooklyn. Brinsley was reported to have walked up and fired directly into the officers squad car. Other officers chased the suspect into a nearby subway station, where Brinsley fatally shot himself in the head. Prior to the shooting, Brinsley had written Instagram messages calling for revenge attacks in response to the police killings of Eric Garner and Michael Brown. He also allegedly shot his girlfriend in Maryland earlier that day.[89][90]
  • 2015 May 3: Curtis Culwell Center attack: Two gunmen opened fire outside the Curtis Culwell Center during an art exhibit hosted by an anti-Muslim group called the American Freedom Defense Initiative in Garland, Texas. The center was hosting a contest for cartoons depicting the Muslim prophet Muhammad. Both gunmen were killed by police. A Garland Independent School District (ISD) police officer was injured by a shot to the ankle but survived. The attackers, Elton Simpson and Nadir Soofi, were motivated by the Charlie Hebdo shooting in France and the 2015 Copenhagen shooting in Denmark earlier in the year. The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levantclaimed responsibility for the attack through a Twitter post.[91]
  • 2015 June 17: Charleston church shooting: a mass shooting took place at Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in downtown Charleston, South Carolina. The church is one of the United States' oldest black churches and has long been a site for community organization around civil rights. Nine people were killed, including the senior pastor, Clementa C. Pinckney, a state senator. A tenth victim was also shot, but survived.
  • 2015 July 16: 2015 Chattanooga shootingsMuhammad Youssef Abdulazeez opened fire on two military installations in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He first committed a drive-by shooting at a recruiting center, then traveled to a naval reserve center and continued firing. He was killed by police in a gunfight. Four Marines were killed immediately, and another Marine, a Navy sailor, and a police officer were wounded; the sailor died from his injuries two days later. The motive of the shootings is currently under investigation.[92]
  • 2015 August 30: Hospital Bomb Threat in Mississippi: An Iranian national arrested in Hancock County Sunday for allegedly making terrorist threats and assaulting two sheriff's deputies. His actions and threats led to a two-hour closure of the I-10 Interstate near Louisiana state line. Subsequently the subject was taken to a local hospital where he's still threatening to kill anyone who isn't a member of Islam or Muslim.[93]

By my count, that list shows 18 terrorist attacks since 2010.

Ten of them were committed by white males.

Two by Black Males.

One was an anti-North Korean attack.

That means there were FIVE TERROR ATTACKS BY MUSLIM, SINCE 2010.

But Pastorius, you say, that means White Males ARE responsible for most Terror attacks since 2010.

NO! That's not true.

Here's a list of terrorist attacks that the official list forgot to include:
April 14, 2010 – A Muslim convert, James A. Larry, 33, became angry that his family would not convert to Islam and shot his mother, pregnant wife, infant son and two nieces in Marquette Park, Illinois. He pleaded guilty to multiple counts of murder, attempted murder and the intentional homicide of an unborn child. “He was upset at his wife and their family — he felt disrespected that they would not join his religion,” Assistant State’s Attorney Jim McKay said. “It didn’t matter if they were young or old, pregnant or not. He wanted them dead.” Larry also shot his 13-year-old nephew in the face, but the boy survived. When the man was arrested, he told officers Allah told him to kill his family, according to court records. According to a police report, he said, “I wish I had more bullets. I wish I had more bullets.”
April 30, 2011 – Rahim Abdul Alfetlawi, 46, shot his step-daughter in the head at point-blank range in Warren, Michigan, after she refused to strictly adhere to Muslim customs. The family claimed the motive was not religion.
Sept. 11, 2011 – Three Jewish men are discovered in Waltham, Massachusetts, with their throats slit from ear to ear and nearly decapitated. Authorities believed the murders were not random, and thousands of dollars in cash and marijuana were left at the scene. According to reports, authorities believe Boston Marathon bombers Tamerlan Tsarnaev and his younger brother, both Muslims, may have been responsible for the triple homicide.
Jan. 15, 2012 – A Jordanian Muslim man, Ali Mahwood-Awad Irsan, 57, gunned down Iranian medical student, Gelareh Bagherzadeh, a friend of his daughter and a Christian convert who widely denounced Islam. He later killed his Christian son-in-law after his daughter married him without permission. Assistant Harris County District Attorney Tammy Thomas told a district judge, “He said, ‘I killed that b–ch, and you’re next. No one insults my honor as a Muslim and gets away with it.’”
Feb. 7, 2013 – Yusuf Ibrahim, 28, shot two Coptic Christians to death and beheaded them in Buena Vista, New Jersey. He also removed their hands before burying their bodies in the backyard of an abandoned house. Quran 8:12 states, “When thy Lord was revealing to the angels, ‘I am with you; so confirm the believers. I shall cast into the unbelievers’ hearts terror; so smite above the necks, and smite every finger of them!”
March 31, 2013 – Reshad Riddle walked into an Ashtabula, Ohio, church and fatally shot his father after an Easter service. After the shooting, witnesses say, walked through the church holding the gun and shouted that the slaughter was “the will of Allah. This is the will of God.”
Aug. 4, 2013 – A Muslim convert, Daymond Agnew, 34, went to an Ace Hardware store on a “mission from Allah to help people” before he fatally stabbed employee Daniel Joseph Stone 17 times.
March 6, 2014 – Registered sex offender James Cosby, 46, is accused of bludgeoning his lesbian daughter to death and shooting her lover in Port Bolivar, Texas. Police believe he then dumped the bodies near a ferry gate. In his bedroom, Cosby had the Quran open to a page that says homosexuality is a sin, family advocate Quanell X told KHOU-TV. “It’s quite unfortunate but he had a real, real warped understanding, in my opinion, of the religion of Islam and its position on the gay lifestyle and what one should do,” Quanell X said.
April 27, 2014 – A 30-year-old Muslim man, Ali Muhammad Brown, is accused of shooting to death two men in Seattle and a man in New Jersey. According to local reports, he told police the killings were “vengeance” for U.S. actions in the Mideast. According to court documents, he said they were “just kills” and that he was “just doing my small part” as a self-styled jihadist.
Sept. 25, 2014 – Alton Nolen is accused of beheading a woman in Moore, Oklahoma. Co-workers reported that Nolen had been trying to convert them to Islam. Nolen reportedly used “some Arabic terms” during his attack and had an interest in beheadings. Nolen told a judge, “I’m Muslim. My question is, do you have any Muslims that can represent me as a Muslim?”
That's 10 more Terror Attacks by Muslims, bringing the total to 15 by Muslims, as compared to 10 by White Males.

Still, there are some things I notice about that list right off:

1) it doesn't include the Muslim who set a gay nightclub on fire in Seattle, on New Years, 2014:
Seattle Police arrested 30-year-old Musab Masmari Saturday morning in connection with the arson at Neighbours nightclub on January 1.
2) it doesn't include the Muslim who tried to blow up a Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony in Beaverton, Oregon:
Prior to Mohamud's arrest, an undercover FBI agent, posing as a terrorist, had been in contact with him since June 2010. The FBI put him on a no-fly list, preventing him from traveling to Kodiak, Alaska from Portland International Airport on June 10, 2010.[15][16] Prosecutors said he was instead interviewed by the FBI, whom he told he wanted to earn money fishing and then travel to join "the brothers," and that he had earlier hoped to travel to Yemen but had not obtained a ticket or visa.[16][17] In preparation for the planned bombing of a public gathering, Mohamud and undercover FBI operatives drove to a remote area of Lincoln County, Oregon, where they conducted a test run on November 4 by detonating a real bomb Mohamud believed to have been hidden inside a backpack. Pioneer Courthouse Square, the site of the attempted bombing, with Christmas tree in 2011 The attempted main bombing took place at Portland's Pioneer Courthouse Square at the corner of Southwest Yamhill Street and Sixth Avenue, as tens of thousands of people gathered for the city's annual Christmas tree lighting. The fake bomb was in a white van that carried six 55-gallon drums with what appeared to be real detonation cords and plastic caps.[18] Mohamud tried to detonate the bomb by dialing a cell phone that was attached to it. When the device failed to explode, the undercover agent suggested he get out of the car to obtain better reception. When he did so he was arrested. Because the FBI ensured that the device had no explosive components—even the detonating caps were inert—the public was never in any danger.[19] According to an affidavit, Mohamud told the agents, "I want whoever is attending that event to leave, to leave either dead or injured."
3) It doesn't include the Muslim who drove a car bomb into Times Square in, what I believe, was an attempt to destroy the Comedy Central offices of South Park, in retaliation for their audacity in depicting Mohammed as a bear:
TIMES SQUARE – Faisal Shahzad, a Pakistan-American residing in Connecticut, attempted to detonate a car bomb in Times Square on May 1, 2010. Like Vinas and the Zazi-trio before him, Shahzad received terrorist training in Pakistan’s Waziristan region during a trip he made to the country from July 2009 until February 2010. The training was provided by the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), generally referred to as the Pakistani Taliban. Upon returning to the United States, Shahzad received $12,000 in two separate payments from a TTP-associated co-conspirator to aid his plot. The bomb’s failure to detonate had to do in large part with the inferior components Shahzad used; Shahzad was concerned that purchasing more effective ingredients as called for by his training would alert law enforcement. Shahzad was influenced, in part, by the teachings of Anwar al-Awlaki and in court, cited American foreign policy as a primary motivator for his actions. Cooperation between NYPD and the FBI led to his identification and arrest 53 hours after the attempted bombing, as he attempted to flee the country. Shahzad pleaded guilty to all charges against him and was sentenced to life in prison.
Many people will object that these last two were not Terrorist Attacks, given that they were unsuccessful.

Personally, I will not discount an attack that failed, because the intent was to MURDER HUNDREDS, IF NOT THOUSANS OF INFIDELS.

I'm quite sure you can think of some more Jihad attacks in the United States, since 2010, that are being conveniently left off the official lists.

I am thoroughly disgusted and sickened by the fact that our government officials, and members of the American media are repeating the meme that White Males are responsible for most Terrorist activity in the United States.

Whites comprise 77% of the population of the United States. The number of terrorist attacks perpetrated by White people is incredible low in proportion to the number of whites there are in America.

In fact, by proportion, black people, who comprise 13% of the population, are responsible for 20% as many Terror attacks as whites.

Muslims, who comprise about 1% of the U.S. population are clearly committing terrorist acts way out of proportion to their numbers in the population.

When people spread malicious lies about a whole race of people based upon so-called "facts" that are not true, that is RACISM.

The purpose of these Racist slanders is to apologize for Muslims in America, who are responsible for preponderance of Terrorist activity.

That whites are being slandered to protect the Muslim population from being analyzed according to the actual facts, is doubly racist.

We White people can not allow ourselves to be made the scapegoats of this "Multiculturalist" society.

Enough.

P.S. - A CHALLENGE GOES OUT TO ALL OF YOU TO LIST MORE JIHADIST ATTACKS WITHIN THE UNITED STATES, SINCE 2010.

  1. I suspect what's going on for people to whom the talking-point makes sense is lazy thinking that lumps in spree murders by beta losers (e.g. Columbine guys, Batman movie theater guy) with 'terrorism'. There's an easy/lazy stereotype that those loser spree murder guys are mostly white males. Which, even that isn't true. As you say, whites are still 70%+ of the country so you'd expect 70% just out of randomness. So even if the fraction were 70% someone could factually say they do 'most' of the spree murders, but it actually wouldn't prove jack squat. I'm not sure the fraction is 70% though. But I digress.

The real problem is that such murders aren't really 'terrorism', i.e., violence against noncombatants designed to achieve some political outcome. I guess one that does count is that guy who shot up a black church. The list you found includes some penny-ante attacks against IRS and TSA by anti New World Order types. Um, not sure what else. But the 'white male' murders most people think of (Columbine etc), whatever else they are, they're not really 'terrorism'. For whatever that's worth.

On the other other hand, someone could say So what if they're not 'terrorism', they're still murders. Which is true enough.

It's a silly, confused argument to get caught up in. What's it supposed to even prove? Even if it were true that 'white Christian males are responsible for most terrorism' what would that prove? Anything? Not really. I don't see what that would prove. If it were true. Which it's not.

In your list you tallied 10/18 by white males. (The 'Christian' status of all of them is unclear.) Someone could I guess say that's 'most', but that's 56% so again is less than the white share of the population. So you've actually shown that a disproportionate fraction are coming from non-'white males'!

I respond - yep, that's what they're doing. That is patently unfair. I know you say it is not worth rebutting, but one of the ways of rebutting is getting them to define their terms, which, once they do, they lose.

You write - The real problem is that such murders aren't really 'terrorism', i.e., violence against noncombatants designed to achieve some political outcome.

I respond - you know, what you say there is important. This word "terrorism" is commonly defined in a way that is so nebulous as to mean nothing. It is common to define terrorism as "violence perpetrated to scare the populace."

but that is not really what terrorism is about. It's about achieving a political end. It is the opposite of a crime of passion, or a crime for personal gain. it is nothing like normal crime.

Crimes committed by reason of inanity are a kind of crime of passion too. and terrorism is not that.

You write - But the 'white male' murders most people think of (Columbine etc), whatever else they are, they're not really 'terrorism'.

I respond - i actually tend to agree with you, HOWEVER, Columbine is one crime that might be definable as being for the purpose of making a political point. Those guys were satanist/hitler worshippes, from what I understand.

  3. A wee bit suspicious if not all too convenient to begin the list at 2010 given the infamous terror attack that the current-occupant-of-the-oval-office loathes identifying as a terror attack:
    November 5, 2009

Nidal Malik Hasan is an American convicted of fatally shooting 13 people and injuring more than 30 others in the Fort Hood mass shooting on November 5, 2009. Hasan was a United States Army psychiatrist and Medical Corps major who admitted to the shootings at his court-martial in August 2013. A jury panel of 13 officers convicted him o…

  5. This is just ONE tactic to undermine the nation. It should be OBVIOUS to those trying to make this valid that there are both qualitative and quantitative differences between an attack by some moron with mental problems and M Atta types.

This is in line with the tortuous VOX logic trying to make the absurd real via manipulations to give dialectic strength to those on the left... Another example of this is comparing 'Syrian' refugees to Jews in the 1930s.

Unending resistance, portraying those promulgating such ideas as drone morons acting as bots for the destruction of the nation, self hating American Finkelsteins must follow relentlessly.

These people must be made to understand that in such actions and accusations, in fact they are electing Trump.
