The Candidate 'You Lose'

Remember the movie The Candidate with Robert Redford?

Marvin Lucas (Peter Boyle), a political election specialist, must find a Democratic candidate to oppose California U.S. Senator Crocker Jarmon, a popular Republican. With no big-name Democrat eager to enter the unwinnable race, Lucas seeks out Bill McKay (Robert Redford), the idealistic, charismatic son of former governor John J. McKay.

Campaign manager Lucas makes McKay a promise: "You're free, McKay. You have a chance to say what you want." His promise is sealed with a contract scribbled on the inside cover of a matchbook: "You lose."

In my opinion, that's the deal the GOPe made with Rubio.

He is tasked to attack Trump, lose, yet peel off enough electoral votes to deny Trump a win on the first round ballot at the convention. The round that would make Trump the Republican Presidential nominee.

What do you think?

  1. I think they thought Rubio could really take on Trump and win. The day Rubio got the courage to actually attack him and sustain his attacks, Trump got Christie's endorsement and the news media forgot about who Rubio was.

I think the establishment is desperate and none of their failures are planned.

  2. Well, that article from the New York Times revealing McConnell's plans certainly goes a long way to show that these motherfuckers really do want to do anything, including lose, to thwart Trump and the will of their own constituents.

The GOP needs to disappear, by whatever means necessary.
