Statement on the Appointment of Dana Boente as Acting Attorney General
The acting Attorney General, Sally Yates, has betrayed the Department of Justice by refusing to enforce a legal order designed to protect the citizens of the United States. This order was approved as to form and legality by the Department of Justice Office of Legal Counsel.
Ms. Yates is an Obama Administration appointee who is weak on borders and very weak on illegal immigration.
It is time to get serious about protecting our country. Calling for tougher vetting for individuals travelling from seven dangerous places is not extreme. It is reasonable and necessary to protect our country.
Tonight, President Trump relieved Ms. Yates of her duties and subsequently named Dana Boente, U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, to serve as Acting Attorney General until Senator Jeff Sessions is finally confirmed by the Senate, where he is being wrongly held up by Democrat senators for strictly political reasons.
“I am honored to serve President Trump in this role until Senator Sessions is confirmed. I will defend and enforce the laws of our country to ensure that our people and our nation are protected,” said Dana Boente, Acting Attorney General.

Okay, so if she would not defend it in court, DID SHE SEND DoJ lawyers to court over the weekend to represent the PEOPLE OF THE USA?
Does anyone know?
I believe anyone HERE should be sent thru under the protection of the Constitution, but if this woman acted to DISRUPT and BREAK the representation of the USA,, leaving us in default in court, that she did not resign, and instead acted in insurrection should make her ineligible to serve in ANY govt office, and I would expect that EVEN under a D president a republican majority in the Senate would reject her outright if appointed to a position which requires consent.

Acting US Attorney General Sally Yates, a carryover form the Obama administration, was fired Monday after she ordered Justice Department lawyers not to enforce the US President's immigration ban targeting seven Muslim-majority nations. Yates said she was not convinced the ban was lawful and would not defend it in court.

Bottom line? The acting AG committed an act of insubordination. Act of conscience would have been to step down or resign voluntarily.
ReplyDeleteWhen in the Navy I was taught that our branch was the harshest regarding insubordination and the rules were due to our history of wooden ships. On a ship, the Captain's word was law. All who disobeyed were punished because mutiny caused disaster.
I was once chastised along with two other officers for breaking convoy with our vehicle, while traveling back from a field ops here in the U.S. I was not the driver. This was done in public manner. And then, I was invited to meet with the OIC in his office.
Bad time... had by all. smile
The decision was one which had to be made for good order and discipline. Integrity of chain of command is always more important than the individual.
Yeah, I would have thought, Elliott Richardson and William Ruckleshaus lead the way on that. Yates path was not one of conscience but of DISRUPTION AND RESISTANCE. And I don't think she did this out of thin air without consultation of others. Trump take note.
ReplyDeleteGet out the pink slips and prepare to rebuild the franchise
Sally Yates looks like a younger -- and prettier -- version of Elizabeth Warren.
