Weather Report, Live in Germany, 1971
Joe Zawinul - Keyboards
Wayne Shorter - Saxophone
Miroslav Vitous - Bass
Alphonse Mouzon - Drums
Dom Um Romao - Percussion
Yeah. This performance, in particular, is pretty chaotic. Later they became increasingly tight and composed. But always out there, compared to the other bands of the time.
It's kind of funny to look back and think, they were called a Jazz/Rock Fusion band. They were nothing like the Mahavishnu Orchestra or Return to Forever, or Spyro Gyra, or Jeff Lorber, or any of the other bands who were called Fusion.
Such a untouchable, idiosyncratic band.
ReplyDeleteThere'll never be another like them.
