All of us, every single man, woman, and child on the face of the Earth were born with the same unalienable rights; to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. And, if the governments of the world can't get that through their thick skulls, then, regime change will be necessary.
No win for the students. If they would have just walked away due to disinterest they would have been labeled. Natural human emotion now labels us, and our Constitutional right to what makes us the highest order of species is being attacked. One of the minor Biblical prophets alludes to what makes us unique: God who put the spirit of man within him. It is only at death, that what makes us human ceases to exist. (Have you ever had that dead person in the coffin shed a tear with you or smile back at you?) But now, soulless people want us to experience early death in figurative manner.
I am not really sure the young man smirked because from watching the interview he gave later, he seems a bit out there on the spectrum. I think that was his amused smile. Now, we cannot even be amused at the foolish actions of others. The whole drum-banging-in-the-face thing was kinda stupid.
I guess we are not allowed to show any emotion now, like depicted in the film "The Invasion":
Hell, I smirk all the time -- including in the classroom. Some students' mouths deserve a smirk from me. Just sayin'.

So unless we all decide to assume the masking facial features of someone with Parkinson's disease, we will be judged for being human.
