Minneapolis City Council Vows to Disband Entire Police Department, and the Mayor Can't Veto The Vote

MINNEAPOLIS, MN – On Sunday, the Minneapolis City Council vowed to disband its police department. They said they’ll invest in community-based public safety programs instead.
This comes on the heels of calls from activists to ‘defund the police,’ in the wake of George Floyd’s death at the hands of a Minneapolis police officer.
City Council President Lisa Bender was joined by a majority of council members that cannot be vetoed by Mayor Jacob Frey. They announced a plan to “end our city’s toxic relationship with the Minneapolis Police Department.”
“We’re here because we hear you. We are here today because George Floyd was killed by the Minneapolis Police,” Bender declared.
“In Minneapolis and in cities across the United States it is clear that our existing system of policing and public safety is not keeping our communities safe.” “Our efforts at incremental reform have failed. Period,” she added.
So what comes next? She said they’ll start talking with the city about what the new “community-led” public safety program will look like.

  1. "what the new “community-led” public safety program will look like."

    I'm guessing something like this.

  2. What comes next? Beirut. A different gang controlling every neighborhood.

Don't be surprised if the first fault-line appears between the communities of home grown African Americans and imported Somali savages.

Like rival motorcycle gangs they have everything but their patch in common but are the bitterest of enemies.

  3. It will be community-based extortion. We will leave you alone if you pay us X amt. every week.

Gosh. I can hardly wait to see how it works out.
