Police: Truck with 100 monkeys crashes, some of them missing
This article casually mentions en passant, that these monkeys “were on their way to a lab”. But here is a more revealing report at the time from a woman who came into contact with the monkeys and had to get treatment and was contacted by the CDC. None of that is in the article linked above but it is here. Please try and keep this material in the back of your mind when you see the growing number of reports of Monkey Pox all over the place.

May 19, 2022: Mystery monkeypox case in Massachusetts is first confirmed in U.S. this year
Massachusetts health officials announced Wednesday that they’ve confirmed a case of monkeypox, the first case of the rare virus identified in the United States in 2022, CBS Boston reports.
The Department of Public Health said the infection was found in an adult man who recently traveled to Canada, and health officials are looking into whether it’s linked to small recent outbreaks in Europe. Massachusetts General Hospital doctors said the patient didn’t have a travel history to areas with high levels of monkeypox.
Monkeypox is usually found in Africa, and rare cases in the U.S. and elsewhere are frequently linked to trips there.
Somewhere I read that vaccination for smallpox eliminated or greatly reduced the possibility of contracting monkeypox.
ReplyDeleteNow, big problem! From a quick Google search:
The smallpox vaccine is no longer available to the public. In 1972, routine smallpox vaccination in the United States ended. In 1980, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared smallpox was eliminated. Because of this, the public doesn't need protection from the disease.
