Politico Reporter on MSNBC Frets That Christian Nationalists Believe Americans’ Rights Come From God, Not the Government

Here @MSNBC helpfully makes it clear their disdain for Christians in America.

She says that if you believe that your rights come from God, you aren’t a Christian, you are a Christian nationalist.

HEIDI PRZYBYLA: I talked with a lot of experts on this and I have seen it with my reporting, Michael, which is that the base of the Republican Party has shifted. Remember when Trump ran in 2016, a lot of the mainline evangelicals wanted nothing to do with the divorced real estate mogul who cheated on his wife with a porn star, and all of that.

So what happened was that he was surrounded by this more extremist element. We are going to hear words like Christian nationalism, like the “new apostolic reformation.” These are groups that you should get very schooled on because they have a lot of power in Trump’s circle. And the one thing that unites all of them because there’s many different groups orbiting Trump.

But the thing that unites them as Christian nationalists, not Christians because Christian nationalists are very different, is that they believe that our rights as Americans and as all human beings do not come from any Earthly authority. They don’t come from Congress, from the Supreme Court, they come from God. The problem with that is that they are determining, men, are determining what God is telling them. In the past, that so-called “natural law,” it is a pillar of catholicism for instance, it has been used for good in social justice campaigns. Martin Luther King evoked it in talking about civil rights.

I do not post this because I advocate Christian Nationalism. 

Rather I rather I post it because I think it is important that we acknowledge that,  

1) here is an angry woman who hates the idea that rights are God-given, and 

2) to prove that she is angry, one needs only observe one simple fact, SHE CONFLATES 'God-given rights" with Christian Nationalism. 

I have long argued that Jesus died for our Free Will BEFORE he died for our sins. I say this because God had three choices after mankind rebelled, 

1) he could hav wiped us out, 

2) he could have turned us into automatons, 

3) he could have allowed us to continue on having Free Will and invented another way to have a relationship with us 

Free Will is endemic to the Judeo-Christian tradition. We participate in Creation with God. You sent That is not Christian Nationalism. 

It is clear that this argument - as an argument - against the notion of God-given Rights is more about a Fascist Impulse in leftism, than it is a Philosophical issue for Leftists. 

I think the Lockdowns, and 15 minute cities have pretty much proven me to be right about that. 

Even if one does not believe in God, one ought never be tempted to get angry at those who do, or, especially, against those who make arguments about Rights (that correspond with human freedom) based upon God, because the argument does not take anything away from the person arguing against it. 

The notion of God-given Rights, whether one believes in God or not, simply means that no man or government has the right to take them away. 

This argument is the intellectual argument. 

The argument against God-Given rights is a Fascist argument masquerading as intellectual argument.
