Danish Cartoonist Objects To Image Used In Fitna

From Reuters:
It ["Fitna: The Movie"] starts and finishes with a cartoon of the Prophet Mohammad with a bomb under his turban, originally published in Danish newspapers, accompanied by the sound of ticking.

Danish cartoonist Kurt Westergaard, who drew the image, said he planned to take legal action on Friday to have it removed from the film, saying it was taken out of context.

"(The cartoon) is aimed at the fanatical terrorists that use interpretations of Islam and the Koran as their spiritual dynamite," he told Danish news agency Ritzau on Thursday.

  2. Um, Kurt, and your point would be...? Still, I'm surprised Geert didn't get permission to use MoDaBomb.

  3. Only the other day, Kurt Westergaard was encouraging Geert Wilders by saying that the film must be released. Now this!

  4. EPA,
I also heard that the image of the killer of Van Gogh was not the right guy. Supposedly the guy in the film was a Moroccan rapper, not Bouyeri. He does look different to me. Hopefully, I am wrong. Another lawsuit.

Wilder's video was not all that different than what has been out there on You Tube for a long time. The thing that was different was Geert's name, position and popularity. I admire Geert's courage but these small issues should have been dealt with pro-actively.

This is now giving ammo to the enemy.

I also would have had two versions, with and without the beheadings. And made it clear what each version involved. Many of the people I have sent it to have just not watched past the "caution: shocking images" frame in the first minute of the film. Now the rest of this very important film does not get seen by the people who need to see it the most. All because it exceeds their comfort level.

    Sad but this is reality.

Still, at least it is out there and I know I saved a copy for myself as I am sure many others have as well.

  5. JMJ, quite right.
These small details should have been locked tight.
There IS noting new there for us in Fitna, but I have a feeling we are not the intended audience.
Too many don't get it and think we are hysterical cranks, or await the moderates in Islam to rise up.

  6. I guess it's too hot for old Kurt, right now. The image of Salah Edin, (c)rap artist was used instead of Bouyeri's...which, when you look at them both are quite similar. One wonders what the lyrics are of Edin's music. If it is death to the kuffar and all that, then what is the bint complaining about?

  7. this was a meanie move from Kurt
i would argue and expect that we should unite in the face of the islamic threat, but he falls victim to his western civilized nature and funny thing: the more civilized we are the more devided we get, just look at the minorities and small communities of immigrants from 3d world countries, how tight they are and supportive of each other when dealing with the outside world.
among muslims religion is the most unifying factor, the only factor we can set against it to unite around is our values, sadly western civilazation became so relative and individualistic that unity hardly achievable, especially when not everyone realizes the realness of the threat, until it touches him personally

western individualims has prevailed here once again, instead of letting it slide for the sake of the common goal Kurt not only goes to court, but makes it public for every muslim to see how devided we are.

    like Jesus was talking

"And if a kingdom be divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand.
And if a house be divided against itself, that house cannot stand.
And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strong man; and then he will spoil his house."
    Mark 3:24-27

    almost a prophetical passage

it's just rediculous that there is devision among anti-islamist personalities themselves. Kurt is already on the run for his life, how the usage of his cartoon in "Fitna" can make the situation any worse for him? so what is he fighting for in his lawsuite? Money? If he is such a mean person then maybe he deserves his fate...

i don't approve copyright infringemnt Wilders and film producers possibly committed, but suing them for that in this particular case is just pathetic and tasteless

  8. and oh yeah, Wilders' product isn't commercial, he doesn't get any profit, well, at least from the movie broadcast, what he rather gains is hatred of the muslim world
    so again what's Kurt's point?

    confusing

  9. As I understand it, the suit to stop Wilders is being brought by the cartoonist's union, so it may have nothing at all to do with Westergaard. But, one would hope he'd make that clear.

In any case, Westergaard has done much more for Western Civ than any of the rest of us. He sits there with death threats hanging over him. He is a man to be admired.
