No Depression 2017

Friends you'll no doubt recall that back during the Obama administration conservative commentators including yours truly would always call out the false narrative when the unemployment numbers came out.

Sure it dropped. From 4.7 (or whatever) to 4.5 (or whatever) but that is in no small part because so many folks are no linger being counted as unemployed.

There was an uptick in hiring! Sure, McDonald's is doing well because that's all so many can afford (and so many not even that many weeks).

So it's irritating now to hear so many of these same commentators now claim how much better the economy is doing when the same sets of numbers present themselves for nearly the same reasons. How quickly the Truth gets reordered when it is their man in residence at Pennsylvania Ave.

No doubt there are areas of the country that are now doing better. And truth be told I would rather have Trump as President than any other reprobate you can name.

However, hear in Pennsylvania Dutch Country, Eastern Division, it is still a paycheck to paycheck existence for so many. For too many. And for too many others even paycheck to paycheck sounds like a good deal.

No mass hiring. No big businesses coming in. No rejuvenation to speak of. Been a number of big layoffs though. More people getting in The Line.

I can see this with my own eyes. I drove past The Church not 1/2 an hour ago. The parking lot & surrounding streets are more crowded than I have seen in some time. The line is out the door and across the parking lot.

Still carrying the boxes and bags to be filled with whatever the local Good Samaritans could spare, many of whom are doing only marginally better themselves.

Any trickle down from Wall Street going up has dried before it reaches us. Jobs to be had around here are still sparse, mostly art time. The better ones in groceries or department stores. The lesser at the fast food joints.

So while they dicker over tax cuts and Obamacare, complain about how the commander in chief addressed a grieving family, each continuing to blame the other side for continuing ills that are a pestilence to the constituents they have forgotten about, those same constituents are getting a little leaner, a little harder, have less hope in their eyes and more cynicism than a person should have carry.

Nothing has changed. Same leaders same lies and they think we will believe it. Time to dislodge all their slovenly asses. November 8 taught them NOTHING and it is time for them to go.

And since we're in a revolutionary mood these days anyway, let's move beyond term limits and and restore Congress to the part time job it was intended to be. And put them in this line.

And maybe get them to The Church as well.
