Flu D'Etat

The single best moniker I have heard for COVID in the last 19 months.

  1. This image speaks strongly to me!

The last year of my first husband's life -- he died March 4, 2021 -- made his life so miserable! All his activities were canceled: Tuesday Bingo, coin shows, coin club, stroke club, etc. No visitors came over either out of fear of infecting him.

So, forget Thanksgiving and Christmas. Even with the closest of family members.

Infection wouldn't really have mattered. He was terminal!

Many, many people wanted to attend his funeral, but we were limited to 20. And no hugging allowed. We broke the hell out of that rule, and the funeral directors looked the other way.

Fortunately, there was no such limitation for the graveside service, but we had to remain masked. Do you know how miserable it is for a widow to weep with a damn mask on?

PS: Nobody contracted COVID at either the funeral or the graveside service.

  2. I am so sorry, AOW.

I really am looking forward to the Nuremberg Trials Part II. And, even though the isolation of Seniors, and the limiting of the grieving process will, likely, not be addressed, I hope that the politicians who will be put to death for their crimes will stand as some solace for people like you.

  3. I am still angry about what was done to us elderly.

I watched Mr. AOW age some 10 years before my very eyes. With little outside stimulation, he became a very old man.

I'm sure that what we went through was repeated 10's of 1000's times all over the United States.
