Nicki Minaj Teams Up with Trump UN Ambassador Mike Waltz to Spotlight Slaughter of Christians in Nigeria

Rap icon Nicki Minaj is joining forces with President Donald Trump’s ambassador to the United Nations, Michael Waltz, for an event to bring global attention to the ongoing genocide against Christians in Nigeria.

The event, scheduled for Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. ET at the U.S. Mission to the United Nations in New York, will focus on the systematic religious violence and mass killings of Christians that have escalated for years while the Biden-Harris State Department largely looked the other way.

Ambassador Waltz, a combat-decorated Green Beret and former Florida congressman, praised Minaj’s courage on Sunday in a post on X.

Waltz wrote, “Minaj is not only arguably the greatest female recording artist, but also a principled individual who refuses to remain silent in the face of injustice.”

“I’m grateful she’s leveraging her massive platform to spotlight the atrocities against Christians in Nigeria, and I look forward to standing with her as we discuss the steps the President and his administration are taking to end the persecution of our Christian brothers and sisters,” he continued.

UNFORTUNATELY, YOUNG PEOPLE ALREADY DISLIKE NICKI MINAJ:

Nicki Minaj is a controversial figure among young people for several serious reasons, including her association with individuals convicted of sexual assault, her public feuds, and her problematic comments on social and health issues.
Key areas of controversy include:
Associations with Convicted Sex Offenders
A primary source of controversy is her personal life and her support for her husband and brother, both of whom have been convicted of serious sexual offenses.
  • Husband's Convictions: Her husband, Kenneth Petty, is a registered sex offender due to a 1994 conviction for attempted rape (the victim was a teenager at the time of the incident). He was also later convicted of first-degree manslaughter.
  • Harassment Lawsuit: Minaj and Petty were sued by his victim for harassment and intimidation, with the victim alleging they offered her money to recant her story. Minaj has denied the claims.
  • Brother's Conviction: Her brother, Jelani Maraj, was sentenced to 25 years to life in prison for child rape. Minaj faced backlash for allegedly paying his bail and writing a letter pleading for a lighter sentence.
Public Feuds and Behavior
Minaj is well-known for her high-profile feuds with other celebrities and industry figures, often conducted very publicly on social media.
  • Rapper Conflicts: She has engaged in long-running feuds with other female rappers like Cardi B, Remy Ma, and Megan Thee Stallion, which have sometimes involved personal insults and even physical altercations or diss tracks mocking traumatic events.
  • Fan Harassment: Her dedicated fanbase, the "Barbz," has a history of online harassment and issuing threats (including death threats) against critics or those with whom Minaj is feuding. Minaj has been criticized for encouraging or ignoring this behavior.
Problematic Comments and Cultural Appropriation
Minaj has been criticized for her views and statements on various topics:
  • Anti-Vaccine Stance: She faced significant backlash for sharing a false story on social media about the COVID-19 vaccine causing impotence and swollen testicles, which was widely debunked by health experts and drew criticism from the scientific community.
  • Cultural Appropriation: She has been accused of repeatedly appropriating East Asian culture for her aesthetic in songs like "Chun-Li," using imagery and styling like chopsticks in her hair or traditional attire in ways that some consider racist or stereotypical.
  • Miley Cyrus Comments: During a VMA confrontation, she called out Miley Cyrus for embracing Black culture but not supporting Black women's issues, which sparked a conversation about cultural appropriation and allyship.
  • Political Alignments: Her recent public support for Donald Trump has alienated some fans and drawn further criticism.
While many young people admire her for being a trailblazer for women in hip-hop, her controversies and off-stage actions make her a deeply divisive figure.
