All of us, every single man, woman, and child on the face of the Earth were born with the same unalienable rights; to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. And, if the governments of the world can't get that through their thick skulls, then, regime change will be necessary.

Maher is referring to the "Mississippi Miracle". It is true that MS leapt from near the educational bottom to the top 20 in a short period of time. The reason: they made teaching young children to read their top - almost exclusive - priority. The theory is that a child who can read can learn. A child who cannot read cannot learn.
ReplyDeleteSo they focused most all effort and money on teaching reading at an early age. And, so far, it appears to be working. It's a simple concept.
