Frank Hilliard is the man! He is the blogger at Mesopotamia West. I had never heard of his blog until today, when he came and commented here. His comment is highly worthwhile:
One way to deal with Islam that hasn't been fully discussed is to reclassify it as a political organization. Since the major difference between Islam and all other religions is that it wants to establish its own laws, and since the establishment, administration and maintenance of laws is the sole purpose of government, it follows that what we have in Islam is a political project wrapped in the candy coating of a religious community. Once we describe it for what it is, we can then require it to fund its activities in an open way, can more closely monitor its leaders and can tax is properly.
Taking this a bit further, I think any close monitoring of any Islamic congregation would quickly find someone advocating sedition. Since this is a serious crime, we could then arrest, charge and convict these Imams of this crime.
In other words, let's crack down on the source of terrorism, the heart of darkness, that is Islam.
I have been saying for awhile now that Islam, in that it advocates for the imposition of Sharia law around the world, is committing sedition. Sharia is the Islamic constitution (in fact, it is the constitution in Saudi Arabia), therefore, advocating for Sharia is advocating for the overthrow of the existing Constitution.
Mr. Hilliard's idea goes a step further, though. My point is unworkable. His would work.
Thanks for leaving that comment here, sir.

Now, how to get Mr. Hilliard's excellent idea past CAIR?
You mean CAIR, the political organization?
;-)
I think the statement that (to paraphrase) "Islam is the only religion that wants to establish its own laws" is not supportable. Lots of other religions want to combine faith and government. There are some pretty vocal Christian reconstructionist groups in the US, for instance.
Conversely, lots of governments have state religions. The first-world examples, like Israel and Britain, are a whole lot less intrusive than the Muslim sharia examples. But, again, the absolutist statement that "Islam is the only religion" is not supportable.
Fritz,
Your point is well-taken. It would be more accurate to say, Islam is the only religion which is currently attempting to establish its own Constitution on a worldwide level.
How's that?
There are Christians Reconstructionists, but they are a relatively small minority, and they do not seek to replace the American Constitution with the Torah, which is the equivalent of what the Islamists are attempting to do with Sharia law.
Islam is the virus, the cancer on the body politic. At last, here is the antidote, or at least a vital part of the solution.
I wish CAIR was the only problem. If they were, this sort of vitally needed sea change in our approach could be implemented, or there would be a rather high likelihood of its implementation.
This is the far more serious problem. Nobody, and I mean nobody, that is at a decision-making level in the Federal Government, would even privately admit to even thinking about doing anything like this. No one outside of our admittedly small and cloistered blogger community would even dare to admit thinking about these sorts of measures.
Even now, 5+ years after 9-11 and all the Islamic bloodletting since, multiculturalism rules the roost. Not only in both major parties, but in every independent party in the US that has more than, oh, a few hundred members. Other parts of what passes for "the West" are worse off. Even in Australia and Israel, the least dhimmified parts of Dar-al-Kafir, this sort of talk is just not heard in the public sphere, let alone in government circles.
At this juncture, I am doubtful even another atrocity on the scale of 9-11 would significantly alter public opinion. I hope we don't have to find out. I hope I am wrong.
Well, AJ, you may have noticed that I have declared us (IBA) the Parallel Government of the entire world. We'll be taking over eventually.
What is considered extreme today, will be considered prudent in a few years from now.
Excellent idea that gets the Five Star Ronbo Rating and honorable mention in The Freedom Fighter's Journal.
