Just across the Mexican border into the city of Ciudad Juarez there is a war going on that's taking the lives of thousands of people, most of whom will be buried without ceremony or memorial. They are the lost, the forgotten, the dead. I don't know them, and they ain't no friends of mine. I don't care. Most of the dead seem to deserve whatever horrible fate they meet. But....

I used to live in Southern New Mexico and my friend and I would go to Juarez often. It was a dangerous place, even back in the 90's, but it's out of control now.
Mexico is going through what Colombia went through in the 80s and 90s. I hope they take some lessons. This is already spilling over and it's only going to get worse for us.
I was not aware that that many people were being killed.
Like I have been saying for about 30 years now, the United States should annex Mexico.
I loved going to the Alameda in the late afternoon to sit and watch the girls promenade along the walk-ways, showing off their femininity, sometimes with another girl, a sister or cousin, sometimes with a beaming beau, always with a hawk-eyed father keeping watch over his girls, ready to pounce on any stranger who go too close. The girls were ladies, beauties loving their youth and beauty, men enraptured, life in the making.
C.J. was a rough place because people didn't go their to find love and true romance. That too has its charms. Even so, I used to dress up for it, put on my best Levis and my fanciest boots, brush my hat, have my bolo tie just right, and I too would strut and preen. But I was smart enough to know what to avoid and what to flee in a hurry. Now the craziness is beyond all borders, those having disintegrated into fogs and vapours of madness. Now it's Hell in the making.
But I know too that one can live just fine in such an environment. One stays out of harm's way to the best that chance allows, and one goes on. It's those who seek out lurid death who make it strange for us all. Kids wanting to show off a gladiator machismo, who want to die in a big scene, dramatic, as if they'll be remembered for it. The bureaucracy doesn't grasp the nature of that. It exceeds bookkeeping and regulations in code-books. It's vibrant death sashay-ing in the park for the admiring glances of the hungry.
The fools on the Left think this is about poverty! Others think it's about lack of morality. I think it's about our failure to understand the beauty of mediocrity and the beauties of ageing. those lovely girls I used to hit on are long ago old ladies with children and grandchildren, just the thing it was all about from the start. Today, it's not about living but about dying. It's not about money or the lack of it. It's about the vatic. What does one "see."
Seems to me that many see nothing but the moment, as in America's Left. It's a terrible loss of faith in the meaning of life. The Left can't offer anything to the human factor. The more they try, the worse it is, and the more these people turn to madness looking for meaning. Same with jihadis. It ain't about the money.
