The Reality For Japan Is The Reality For Our Entire World - We Just Don't Seem To Know It Yet

‘Missile Launch! Take Cover!’
It seems obvious to me that this is the direction that Kim Jong Un has been heading, and that the only reasonable way to deal with the obvious is to have a contingency plan, so that one can act quickly, especially when it comes to this kind of situation, which is an existential threat.
Those missiles could very well have had a nuke on them. We did not know whether they did or didn't.
Now KIM JONG UN KNOWS WE CAN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT WHEN HE SHOOTS A MISSILE AT JAPAN.
We can't do anything and we won't do anything.
We can't shoot missiles out of the sky with consistency (or we would have done it), and we won't do anything if the threat is large enough - as it clearly was this time.
How does he know this? Because we didn't.
We didn't shoot the missile out of the sky. We didn't do shit.
We didn't do anything at the time, nor in the now 30+ hours since.
Not only could we not do anything to shoot the missile out of the sky,
A MISSILE WHICH AGAIN I WILL SAY COULD HAVE HAD A NUKE ON IT
but we obviously had
NO CONTINGENCY PLAN WITH WHICH TO RESPOND QUICKLY IN CASE OF AN EMERGENCY EVEN IF WE COULD NOT SHOOT THE FUCKING THING OUT OF THE SKY.
There was no leadership at all.
Apparently we just have no response other than more diplomacy.
HERE'S WHAT I WOULD DO.
I would publicly announce I was transferring 25 nuke-tipped missile to Japan, and I would put the onus on them to take care of the problem.
And I would ALERT CHINA that "NOTHING HAD BETTER HAPPEN TO MY FRIEND JAPAN."
That's what I would do.
Meanwhile, Trump - the supposed "Leader of the Free World" had no contingency plan whatsoever.
It is obvious.
-------

Pastorius is clearly a Madman. What does he want? Nuclear War?
Have you not heard of that madman who lit a lantern in the bright morning hours, ran to the market place, and cried incessantly: "I seek God! I seek God!"---As many of those who did not believe in God were standing around just then, he provoked much laughter. Has he got lost? asked one. Did he lose his way like a child? asked another. Or is he hiding? Is he afraid of us? Has he gone on a voyage? emigrated?---Thus they yelled and laughed
The madman jumped into their midst and pierced them with his eyes. "Whither is God?" he cried; "I will tell you. We have killed him---you and I. All of us are his murderers. But how did we do this? How could we drink up the sea? Who gave us the sponge to wipe away the entire horizon? What were we doing when we unchained this earth from its sun? Whither is it moving now? Whither are we moving? Away from all suns? Are we not plunging continually? Backward, sideward, forward, in all directions? Is there still any up or down? Are we not straying, as through an infinite nothing? Do we not feel the breath of empty space? Has it not become colder? Is not night continually closing in on us? Do we not need to light lanterns in the morning? Do we hear nothing as yet of the noise of the gravediggers who are burying God? Do we smell nothing as yet of the divine decomposition? Gods, too, decompose. God is dead. God remains dead. And we have killed him.
"How shall we comfort ourselves, the murderers of all murderers? What was holiest and mightiest of all that the world has yet owned has bled to death under our knives: who will wipe this blood off us? What water is there for us to clean ourselves? What festivals of atonement, what sacred games shall we have to invent? Is not the greatness of this deed too great for us? Must we ourselves not become gods simply to appear worthy of it? There has never been a greater deed; and whoever is born after us---for the sake of this deed he will belong to a higher history than all history hitherto."
Here the madman fell silent and looked again at his listeners; and they, too, were silent and stared at him in astonishment. At last he threw his lantern on the ground, and it broke into pieces and went out. "I have come too early," he said then; "my time is not yet. This tremendous event is still on its way, still wandering; it has not yet reached the ears of men. Lightning and thunder require time; the light of the stars requires time; deeds, though done, still require time to be seen and heard. This deed is still more distant from them than most distant stars---and yet they have done it themselves
HERE'S ANOTHER PERSPECTIVE:

Right now, Kimmy is pushing buttons to get a reaction thinking Iran, Turkey, China, Pakistan have his back.

Sundance at TheConservativeTreehouse suggests that Trump is tightening an economic noose over China's neck - not only with trade but with the reality of the demographic/political nightmare China faces should massive retaliation against NKoreans result in millions of refugees crossing into their territory...not to mention the increased pressure of Muhammedan natives to the south exerting any regained political/demographic pressure of their own if political/strategic/demographic support from Muhammedan countries is projected.

I think that it's a case of we WON'T do anything.

You are right.

We can't shoot missiles out of the sky (with consistency) and we won't do anything if we are really challenged.

I would not go as far as Pastorius claiming we "won't" do "anything".

Anonymous,
With regard to "China Recommits to U.N. Sanctions Against North Korea"

Would you agree with me that China's commitment to sanctions has been "wavering" (that's the nice word for it, imo) or FRAUDULENT (THIS IS THE REAL WORD, IMO - MEANING ENACTED IN BAD FAITH) from the beginning.

So, in other words, China only "commits" when China is pressured.

As soon as the pressure is taken off, reality returns, and reality is China considers North Korea an ally in it's realpolitik struggle with the United States.

North Korea's insanity is a weapon China uses against us.

Anonymous,

I do not have access to the NYT.

Any chance you can paste the test into comments?

I mean, if you think it's important.

I don't agree with: "Meanwhile, Trump - the supposed "Leader of the Free World" had no contingency plan whatsoever."

A president does not have a contingency plan. A country and its military have a contingency plan. We should have had one all the way back to whoever started having problems with the Kims. This president could have ordered its update if necessary, but HE is not expected to have a contingency plan in his pocket to start waving it in times of danger.

I found this article informative:

Why Didn’t the US Shoot Down That North Korean Missile?

Last portion of the above article, but one also needs to read the entire article:

...[E]very time a missile heads toward Japan, Guam, or anywhere else, military leaders will have to decide whether attempting to shoot down North Korean missiles is worth the costs of possibly missing — or starting a war.

Apparently, there was a successful anti-missile test this morning. In June, we failed that test.

The French President is now calling it, “Islamist terrorism”. Wow.

Macron places the fight against “Islamist terrorism” at the heart of his diplomacy

Excerpt (English translation):

“The fight against Islamist terrorism is the first priority of our foreign policy, yes, I speak well of an Islamist terrorism and I perfectly assume the use of this adjective,” said the head of state…”

Missing and starting a war? Over what? Because we tried to defend ourselves?

Did that article mention that neither the U.S. nor Japan knew if there was a nuclear weapon on that fucking missile?

Pastorius said...

Is anyone going to tell me that article is not just Monday morning quarterbacking filled with gay-assed excuses?

Seriously, if anyone knows better, I'd like to hear it.

Always On Watch said...

Pasto,
I didn't say that I agree with the article. But it did make me take a step back to consider just how much BHO defunded our military. Such defunding inevitably results in an inferior military, especially with regard to tech skills.

Of course, the author of the essay didn't criticize BHO for doing that.

Here we are this morning -- with Fat Kid saber rattling and little (if any) response from us.

Pastorius said...

I am sorry, AOW.

I am very angry because I believe we are being betrayed.

Always On Watch said...

Pasto,
I appreciate your apology. I was going to answer you last night in my scorched earth mode -- then thought better of doing so.

As a redhead, I have been known for blowing my stack. I was born with one helluva temper. You've never seen it. Count your blessings.

As an elderly redhead, I've learned not to blow my stack "too soon." Perspective and all that.

All the above blathering....I, too, am pissed off about what appears to be a lack of response.

Pastorius said...

I consider the lack of response a BETRAYAL of the American people by Donald Trump.
