EPIGENETICS AND THE PROBLEM OF PAIN

To start, let's understand that our behaviors, and the things that happen to us, effect how our genes express themselves ESPECIALLY if these behaviors are habitual.

The way our behavior effect our genetics is called Epigenetic modification.

Epigenetic modifications are heritable:

Epigenetic modifications, such as DNA methylation, can contribute to alter gene expression in heritable manner without affecting the underlying genomic sequences. Such epigenetic contribution would be systematically missed by conventional DNA sequence-based analyses.

Yes, these Epigenetic modifications are "heritable. In other words, they are passed down from one generation to the other.

AS THE BIBLE SAYS:

You shall not bow down to them or serve them; for I the Lord your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, 10 but showing steadfast love to dthousands2 of those who love me and keep my commandments.

This mean that, if we steadfastly worship the false idols of PRIDE, ANGER, GREED, GLUTTONY, LUST, ENVY, OR SLOTH, these habits will become ingrained in our DNA, and they will be passed down to our children.

Now, one of the most common objections to the existence of God is usually expressed in the form of the following question:

HOW COULD A LOVING GOD ALLOW SO MUCH SUFFERING?

The answer is, He created us in His image. He gave us Free Will, Creativity, and Imagination. Like Him, we are able to do and create whatever we want - though, unlike Him, we are limited by the fact that we have to use matter to create, and the creative act takes time.

So how does Suffering come about?

We make choices about how to live our lives, about what we will imagine and create. And those choices have consequences, not only for us, and those around us, but for our children, and our children's children.

Now, to conclude, I will ask one final question:

WOULD YOU TRADE IN YOUR FREE WILL, IMAGINATION, AND CREATIVITY IN ORDER TO AVOID SUFFERING?
