In the following quote, Louie Gohmert references Romans 13 discussion of submitting to the God-ordained authorities.
So, before I post the quote, here is what Romans 13 has to say:
Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. 2 Consequently, whoever rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves. 3 For rulers hold no terror for those who do right, but for those who do wrong. Do you want to be free from fear of the one in authority? Then do what is right and you will be commended. 4 For the one in authority is God’s servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for rulers do not bear the sword for no reason. They are God’s servants, agents of wrath to bring punishment on the wrongdoer. 5 Therefore, it is necessary to submit to the authorities, not only because of possible punishment but also as a matter of conscience. 6 This is also why you pay taxes, for the authorities are God’s servants, who give their full time to governing. 7 Give to everyone what you owe them: If you owe taxes, pay taxes; if revenue, then revenue; if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor.
So, here's the Louie Gohmert quote:
This is a desperate time for our country, when those that are entrusted with the most important job - in preserving this country as a free country are corrupting it - then there's only one place we can go to.
And i love what (other participants in call) said, Look - Yes, God's in Control, but just because he's in control doesn't mean he want's us to lean on our shovel and "Pray For A Hole."
He's given every one of us tools. And in this country, we are a self-governing country, and that means every single person who's eligible to vote is really under Romans 13.
You have a job, to be part of the government, to vote, serve on juries, run for office if you feel led. But, we have dropped the ball, and we have got to step forward.
So the prayer ... thank you ... for organizing these ... if we don't pray as we work and use the tools we have, this little-experiment in Self-Government will be gone - and the anomaly will stop, and Christians will be persecuted as badly as they have been throughout history.
As I understand it, Google/Youtube is suppressing this quote from Louie Gohmert.
I post it to add to the censored discussion (as well as to add to the discussion of censorship).
What Louie Gohmert is saying is, if America is a Government Of the People, By the People, and For The People, then we are all God-ordained rulers, and we do not need to "be subject to the governing authorities," because WE ARE the governing authorities.
We need only submit to God, and His moral law.
In this case, what our "governing authorities" (those we elected to represent us under our Republican government) are doing is wrong. They are attempting to subvert the power of the people. And as such, we must oppose them.
As the Declaration of Independence says:
Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.
As an individual, I know I am too much of a hot head to make such a decision on my own. I wait and watch.
I would prefer to see this handled through the Just processes of Law.
