January 8th flu update for Chicago now posted.
Zero out of 10,268 PCR tests have tested positive for flu.
Zero. https://chicago.gov/content/dam/city/depts/cdph/H1N1_swine_flu/FluUpdate/FluUpdate_Week53_01082021.pdf
I mean, that's basically impossible, right?
From a statistical standpoint, yes.
Per IDPH’s last report for the state - which doesn’t include Chicago - there have been 17 pos flu tests statewide, which is always crazy low.
But what are the chances of having 17 pos tests statewide, yet 0 in Chicago?
I also have to say when there is a kid negative for COVID, in more than one instance I ask if they have been tested for flu and I get blank stares from parents into space. It’s as if it’s completely off the table.
Normal amount of testing going on in the CDC stats, but almost all negative.
At what cycle threshold are flu tests run? Do we know?
