Facebook. It was presented as a gift to the American People. Like a cumbersome wild turkey in flight – we took off.
We loved it!
Other gifts followed: Twitter… Instagram… a plethora of social media platforms. The heady exhilaration of the power from digital platforms allowed us to divulge our deepest desires, wildest dreams, our convictions, and our personal prejudice.
Mike Pompeo warns us of the “echo chambers” of Left v Right. But it is something much more sinister.
We have received the gift of a Trojan Horse.
We have become a nation of plantations. The bonds of slavery are invisible, but they are there. Media platforms allow the government to monitor vast plantations under the management of tech overlords.
Facebook has what I call the broccoli plantations. These are populated by the grandparents who discuss their diets and constipation, share pictures of their latest cruise and a bevy of grandchildren. Minimal oversight is required.
