Issa Subpeonas Treasury For IRS Docs, Accuses Head Of IRS Of Obstruction

Because they're Conservatives, Hello!
A top Republican lawmaker on Friday subpoenaed the Treasury Department for documents pertaining to the IRS targeting scandal, after accusing the head of the tax-collection agency of obstructing congressional investigations.
During a tense hearing on Capitol Hill held shortly before lawmakers headed out for summer recess, acting IRS chief Danny Werfel weathered tough questioning from Republicans including Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee.
Issa claimed the IRS has been slow to produce documents, and that the documents it does produce are so thoroughly blacked out, they are useless to investigators.
“When you eliminate search terms unilaterally you are obstructing us by limiting the scope of discovery. Do you understand that, Mr. Werfel?” Issa said, complaining that the IRS had narrowed the date range for the requested documents.

That’s a chart compiled by NPR based on House Ways & Means Committee data about groups whose names put them on the IRS “be on the lookout” list while applying for tax-exempt status. Despite claims that all sorts of groups were targeted, this suggests that the Tea Party and “patriot” groups really took it on the chin. “The analysis is the closest so far to an objective numerical accounting of how the groups were treated by the IRS,” writes NPR, which also quotes Dems and Reps complaining about bias in the investigation.
Recall that back in May, President Obama – who has not been implicated in the scandal – called the IRS’ behavior “intolerable and inexcusable.” More recently – last week – he called it a “phony scandal.”

CNN Reporter Interviews Benghazi Suspect Who Is Walking Around Freely, Never Interviewed By Investigators

From Mediaite:

On Wednesday, CNN aired a portion of an interview one of the network’s reporters was able to conduct with a man accused of participating in the September 11, 2012, attack on an American diplomatic consulate in Benghazi. The individual accused of participating in that attack was not in hiding and said that American investigators were not looking for him. He does, however, deny his direct involvement in that attack.
CNN reporter Arwa Damon recently sat down with Ahmed Abdu Khattala who has been accused of playing a role in the Benghazi attack.
“He seemed to be confident,” Damon said. “His demeanor most certainly not that of a man who believed he was going to be detained or targeted any time soon.”
Khattala told Damon that no one from either the Libyan or American governments has contacted him asking for his take on the events of that deadly night in 2012. “Even the investigative team did not try to contact me,” he said of the FBI team that traveled to Libya in the wake of the attack.
Damon said that Khattala told her that he would be happy to speak with American investigators about what happened on the night of the Benghazi attack. She stressed, however, that he would not voluntarily submit to interrogation.
“Why has no one reached out to him yet?” Damon asked rhetorically.

SHOCK VIDEO Shows Horrible Racial Beating on FL School Bus

WFLA reported, via Free Republic:
Gulfport police recently released surveillance video from a school bus that shows the bus driver’s perspective of a beating earlier this month.
In the video from July 9th, the victim is sitting in the second seat of the Pinellas school bus with his head down. The violence starts as soon as he stands-up to get off the bus.
The bus driver, John Moody can be heard yelling for somebody to try to stop them and calls dispatch for help, “I got a fight. I need help in a hurry, I got a fight I need help in a hurry.”
The punches and kicks continue, and the victim falls between the seats. At one point you can hear his screams on the video. The bus driver yells at the attackers, “leave that boy alone,” but doesn’t try to intervene physically.
Then he again calls dispatch to verify the address. “Get somebody out here quick, quick quick they’re about to beat this boy to death. There’s nothing I can do…please send somebody,” said Moody.
According to Pinellas school bus driver policy the driver’s first duty is to call dispatch, and only has to step in if they think it’s safe. They’re not required to intervene.
Gulfport Police Chief Robert Vincent has publicly questioned the driver’s lack of action even after the offending teens had left the bus. “There was time for him to intervene and or check on the welfare of the child in this case. He didn’t make any effort to do so and that’s what we want to bring to the attention of the prosecutor,” said Chief Vincent.

UK: New Poll Shows 1/3rd of Young Muslims Want To Execute Apostates, 37% Want Sharia Law

From the Guardian:
A growing minority of young Muslims are inspired by political Islam and feel they have less in common with non-Muslims than their parents do, a survey reveals today. The poll, carried out for the conservative-leaning Policy Exchange thinktank, found support for Sharia law, Islamic schools and wearing the veil in public is significantly stronger among young Muslims than their parents.
In the survey of 1,003 Muslims by the polling company Populus through internet and telephone questionnaires, nearly 60% said they would prefer to live under British law, while 37% of 16 to 24-year-olds said they would prefer sharia law, against 17% of those over 55. Eighty-six per cent said their religion was the most important thing in their lives.
Nearly a third of 16 to 24-year-olds believed that those converting to another religion should be executed, while less than a fifth of those over 55 believed the same.

Hmm. . .

I don't like being this cynical because I hated it when it was the knee jerk reaction to alerts during the Bush administration.

However. . .

with Benghazi breaking big in the news again. . .

with the IRS phony scandal grabbing headlines again. . .

with Egypt on the brink of disaster again. . .

with Anthony showing his wiener and Hillary going "humahumahuma" again. . .

with Israeli/Palestinian talks on the front burner again. . .

with the NSA phony scandal growing with every American phone call or email. . .

. . . and the bobble heads in the media saying see this is WHY we need the NSA programs. . .

I have to question the timing and motivation of this.

At the very least it is a huge deal to be closing all the Mideast embassies at once.

So either there is something very big cooking -- i.e. an attack on an embassy OR an attack elsewhere -- say even the American homeland or a Bojinka style attack that would make it very dangerous to remain in an embassy when the follow up shit storm hits

the administration is about to try something sneaky. Maybe another Mideast war.

So I say be prepared be alert be vigilant keep your powder dry

and always watch what the other hand is doing

US issues global travel alert over Al Qaeda threat, prepares to close embassies

The State Department issued a worldwide travel alert on Friday to U.S. citizens over an Al Qaeda terror threat as Washington prepared to close its embassies and consulates throughout the Muslim world this Sunday over security concerns.

U.S. officials have not offered many details on the nature of the threat, but apparently are taking it seriously.

A White House official said Friday night President Obama was being updated on "a potential threat occurring in or emanating from the Arabian Peninsula."

"There is a significant threat stream and we're reacting to it," said Gen. Martin Dempsey, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. He told ABC News in an interview to be aired Sunday that the threat was "more specific" than previous ones and the "intent is to attack Western, not just U.S. interests."

John Bolton, former U.S. ambassador to the U.N., said the alert indicates the U.S. government must have some "pretty good information" about a possible threat.

Great Britain announced Friday night it would also close its embassy in Yemen "as a precautionary measure" on Sunday and Monday and urged its nationals to leave the country.

The travel alert issued Friday warned Americans of the "continued potential for terrorist attacks, particularly in the Middle East and North Africa, and possibly occurring in or emanating from the Arabian Peninsula."

It said: "Current information suggests that al-Qa'ida and affiliated organizations continue to plan terrorist attacks both in the region and beyond, and that they may focus efforts to conduct attacks in the period between now and the end of August."

The alert reminded Americans about the potential for attacks on transit systems and other "tourist infrastructure."

Pentagon officials also said there is an increased alert among security personnel in the region in response to the Al Qaeda terror threats.

"Actions have been taken," one Pentagon official told Fox News.

Retired Gen. Jack Keane, a Fox News military analyst, said the threat is yet another sign that Al Qaeda and its affiliates are emboldened -- and stressed that the U.S. needs to do a better job securing its embassies.

"It has got to be one of our top priorities," he told Fox News.

Keane said it appears Al Qaeda is trying build off the Benghazi terror attack. "When they sense weakness, they attack," he said. "They believe that we're pulling back, and they were stunned ... that we did not come after them immediately after that attack."

State Department officials said Thursday, after announcing the temporary shutdown of embassies and consulates on Sunday, that they were acting out of an "abundance of caution."

Spokeswoman Marie Harf cited information indicating a threat to U.S. facilities overseas and said some diplomatic facilities may stay closed for more than a day.

Sunday is a normal workday in many Arab and Middle Eastern countries, meaning that is where the closures will have an impact. Embassies in Europe and Latin America would be shuttered that day anyway. The State Department on Friday released a list of 21 embassies and consulates affected.

"We have instructed all U.S. embassies and consulates that would have normally been open on Sunday to suspend operations, specifically on August 4," a senior State Department official said Thursday night. "It is possible we may have additional days of closing as well."

Other U.S. officials said the threat was specifically in the Muslim world.

The issue of security abroad has been prominent since the attack on the U.S. compound in Benghazi, Libya, and a string of demonstrations on other U.S. embassies in the Middle East and North Africa.

On Thursday, measures to beef up security at U.S. embassies were passed out of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. The bill is in response to the Sept. 11, 2012 attack on the diplomatic post in Benghazi, Libya, where Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans were killed.

The Senate bill creates a training center for diplomatic security personnel.

Separately, the House Foreign Affairs Committee authorized full security funding for diplomatic missions -- despite recommending a nine percent cut overall for State Department operations.

The House and Senate have already approved spending bills that cover embassy security. But their budgets differ markedly in other areas.

UPDATED Obama get's spanked

Take your jobs plan and shove it, Mr. President: Your policies have harmed Chattanooga enough

President Obama,
Welcome to Chattanooga, one of hundreds of cities throughout this great nation struggling to succeed in spite of your foolish policies that limit job creation, stifle economic growth and suffocate the entrepreneurial spirit.
Forgive us if you are not greeted with the same level of Southern hospitality that our area usually bestows on its distinguished guests. You see, we understand you are in town to share your umpteenth different job creation plan during your time in office. If it works as well as your other job creation programs, then thanks, but no thanks. We’d prefer you keep it to yourself.
That’s because your jobs creation plans so far have included a ridiculous government spending spree and punitive tax increase on job creators that were passed, as well as a minimum wage increase that, thankfully, was not. Economists — and regular folks with a basic understanding of math — understand that these are three of the most damaging policies imaginable when a country is mired in unemployment and starving for job growth.
Even though 64 percent of Chattanooga respondents said they would rather you hadn’t chosen to visit our fair city, according to a survey on the Times Free Press website, it’s probably good that you’re here. It will give you an opportunity to see the failure of your most comprehensive jobs plan to date, the disastrous stimulus scheme, up close and personal.
The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 helped fund the Gig to Nowhere project, a $552 million socialist-style experiment in government-owned Internet, cable and phone services orchestrated by EPB — Chattanooga’s government-owned electric monopoly.
• • •
The Gig to Nowhere is a Smart Grid, a high tech local electricity infrastructure intended to improve energy efficiency and reduce power outages. After lobbying for, and receiving, $111.6 million in stimulus money from your administration, EPB decided to build a souped-up version of the Smart Grid with fiber optics rather than more cost-effective wireless technology. This decision was supposed to allow EPB to provide the fastest Internet service in the Western Hemisphere, a gigabit-per-second Internet speed that would send tech companies and web entrepreneurs stampeding to Chattanooga in droves.
In reality, though, the gig, like most of the projects funded by your stimulus plan, has been an absolute bust.
While the Smart Grid will cost taxpayers and local electric customers well over a half-billion dollars when all is said and done, there has been little improvement in the quality of EPB’s electric service. Worse, despite being heavily subsidized, EPB’s government-owned Internet, cable and telephone outfit that competes head-to-head against private companies like AT&T and Comcast is barely staying afloat, often relying on loans from electric service reserve funds to afford its business expenses.
Further, there has been no credible evidence to suggest that EPB can even provide a gig of service consistently and reliably. Any companies hoping to utilize the Gig to Nowhere are quoted monthly billing costs that make the service unfeasible. As a result, Chattanooga has remained a relative ghost town for technological innovation. Almost no economic development whatsoever has resulted from the gig.
• • •
What the gig has brought, however, is that shocking price tag. Because of your unwillingness to balance the budget, Mr. President, the $111.6 million federal handout to subsidize the Gig to Nowhere will actually cost federal taxpayers $158.2 million, due to interest. Once EPB received the stimulus infusion to fund the pork project, the electric monopoly took out a $219.8 bond that will balloon to $391.3 million by the time Chattanoogans are done paying it off.
The bond’s first payment comes due this fall and there remain significant questions about how EPB can manage to pay the debt without hiking electric rates on EPB customers.
Building a Smart Grid to get into a telecom sector already well-served by private companies was a bad idea from the start. But getting government involved in places it doesn’t belong is a hallmark of your administration. As a result, you and your policymakers were happy to fund the Gig to Nowhere.
You claimed that the Smart Grid would create jobs for Chattanooga. But in reality, all it did was push America deeper in debt and lure a local government agency into making a terrible financial decision that will weigh on Chattanoogans like a millstone for decades to come.
So excuse us, Mr. President, for our lack of enthusiasm for your new jobs program. Here in Chattanooga we’re still reeling from your old one.

Editor fired for anti-Obama headline says bosses responded to pressure

A Tennessee newspaper editor who was fired for a headline critical of President Obama says his bosses bowed to pressure from the president's supporters, claiming he wouldn't have been canned if he had said the same of former President George W. Bush.

Drew Johnson's editorial, titled "Take your jobs plan and shove it, Mr. President: Your policies have harmed Chattanooga enough," went viral and drew national attention earlier this week when Obama visited the city.

The Chattanooga Times Free Press editorial page editor was later ousted. The newspaper released a statement Thursday saying Johnson had been fired for "placing a headline on an editorial outside of normal editing procedures."

But in an interview with Fox News, Johnson said that policy -- requiring that last-minute changes to headlines be approved -- was only implemented after they published his piece.

Johnson explained he was simply thinking of the "Take This Job and Shove It" song and thought it was an "apt title," and used it to replace a "placeholder" headline. He said his criticism of the president's jobs plans was in line with the views of many readers, but his bosses were dealing with complaints.

"(The editor) said that she was disappointed in the headline, that she thought it was crass and she'd gotten a lot of complaints by Obama supporters," he said, recalling a meeting he had with the editor earlier in the week.

"Today I come into work and am told that I'm fired for violating that policy that wasn't put in place until the day after I wrote the piece," Johnson told Fox News on Thursday, calling it a "retroactive firing."

Johnson has adamantly defended himself, in a series of interviews and on Twitter.
He argues that while the execs at the paper slammed his headline, they also left it up online as the story drew considerable Internet traffic.

"I just became the first person in the history of newspapers to be fired for writing a paper's most-read article," he tweeted.

He later added: "To answer a question I've gotten a lot: I feel confident that if the headline had referenced Bush instead of Obama, I would still have a job."

The newspaper denied Johnson's firing had anything to do with the content of his editorial. They said the headline was "not the original headline approved for publication" and that Johnson "violated the normal editing process" by changing it.

"The Free Press page has often printed editorials critical of the president and his policies," the newspaper stated.

The Times Free Press has two editorial pages -- one conservative and the other liberal.

What % of Americans who happen to be Black voted for this man?

Friday’s jobs report was disappointing, but it also contained a truly heartbreaking statistic. Black teen unemployment is ashocking 41.6%. In July last year, the unemployment was considerably lower, at 36%. That almost half of black teens who want to work can’t find jobs is a stain on Obama’s economic policies.

This isn’t a numbers trick. This isn’t a rate based on the whole black teen population in the country. This is the proportion of the black teen population that is looking for work but can’t find a job. Just in March, the number was eight points lower at 33%. The white teen unemployment rate is half the black rate, although still high at 20%.
The heartbreaking thing is that these teens haven’t given up hope and left the job market, something that has artificially lowered the overall unemployment rate. The unemployment rate is based on those who want a job and are trying to find one.
In recent months, President Obama and national Democrats have increased calls to raise the minimum wage or impose “living wages" on certain companies in urban areas. Minimum wage jobs, however, are often “first jobs," providing that critical first rung on the jobs’ ladder. Indeed, more than two-thirds of minimum wage employees receive a raise within the first year on the job.
You can’t get a raise, however, without first having a job. Our economic policies are abandoning a generation and threatening to create a permanent underclass. It is shameful.

Yes, this is Huma Weiner, yes, Huma Weiner - yes, stop laughing, and

Serial sexter Anthony Weiner’s wife partly blamed herself last year when her horndog husband confessed to her that he was at it again.
Friends and family told People magazine that Huma Abedin was kicking herself at the time for bailing out of couples counseling and focusing more on their newborn baby boy.
But, thanks to a new round of joint therapy that continues even now, the couple was able to put the relapse behind them.
“They really became a unit, and she feels much closer to Anthony now,” a relative told the magazine.
That’s a long way from how Abedin felt during her worst days when she stood in the doorway of their home, torn about what to do.
“She was seriously thinking, ‘Maybe I can’t do this.’ There was the possibility of leaving on the table,” the family member said.
Abedin and Weiner had let close relatives know they might split.
“It would have been perfectly logical if she had said, ‘I’m out of here,’ ” a friend, Rory Tahari, told the magazine.
“Any woman could have understood that.”
Then it got worse. A month later, according to the couple, Weiner confessed to her that he had continued to text lewd pictures of himself. He said he also told her that he had frequent phone sex with one woman, 22-year-old Sydney Leathers, and sexting sessions with two others under the pseudonym Carlos Danger.

Freedom of Religion Watch - Gays To Sue Church of England Over Refusal To Hold Same-Sex Marriages In Churches

From The Blaze:
With Britain’s legalization of same-sex marriage will likely also come a legal battle for the Church of England. Following the queen’s blessing of gay nuptials, one couple is going to challenge at least one religious denomination that refuses to marry homosexuals.
With the Church of England and the Catholic Church refusing to opt-in to officiating same-sex marriages, Barrie Drewitt-Barlow, a well-known gay advocate, told the Essex Chronicle he is planning to challenge the former institution in court.
Barrie, who joined into a civil partnership with a man named Tony in 2006, says he’s a practicing Christian who is less-than-content with the churches’ views. The couple has five children.
“It is like someone giving me a sweetie with the wrapper on and telling me to suck it,” he said. “We are happy for gay marriage to be recognized — in that sense it is a big step. But it is actually a small step because it is something we still cannot actually do.”

Record Number 21 Million Young Adults Living With Parents (yo! again and that's ok with me)

It's not like any of this should be a surprise to anyone paying attention and not blindly following & toeing the administrative line

When the Food Pantry is open in my end of town the line is still and always out the door and around the block.

A record number of Americans are on food stamps

4 out of 5 Americans face joblessness and poverty

It's certainly not like I haven't warned you about this over the years.

Obamaville in Camden

I don't know what's more disturbing, that these exist (we knew that already) or that they have been around long enough that the previous tent city to this had it's own form of government and rules

And while it's true some of this may be due to addiction or mental illness, one reporter near the end asks the question
Look at your bank accounts and ask yourself just how close you may really be -- 1 mortage payment? 2? -- from ending up somewhere like here.
This is not my father's  America. Nor yours.
This is not a country I recognize from my youth.

This is Barack Obama's America.

And I believe the worst is still to come.

The REAL Economy, 2013, 77% of all jobs created are PART TIME

From ZEROHEDGE, numbers:

Obamacare Full Frontal: Of 953,000 Jobs Created In 2013, 77%, Or 731,000 Are Part-Time

When the payroll report was released last month, the world finally noticed what we had been saying for nearly three years:that the US was slowly being converted to a part-time worker society. This slow conversion accelerated drastically in the last few months, and especially in June, when part timejobs exploded higher by 360K while full time jobs dropped by 240K. In July we are sad to report that America’s conversation to a part-time worker society is not “tapering": according to the Household Survey, of the 266K jobs created (note this number differs from the establishment survey), only 35% of jobs, or 92K, were full time. The rest were…not.
What is worse, however, is when one looks at job creation broken down by “quality" in all of 2013. The chart below does the bottom line some justice:
But what really shows what is going on in America at least in 2013, is the following summary: of the 953K jobs “created" so far in 2013, only 23%, or 222K, were full-time. Part-time jobs?731K or 953K of total.
Any idea that America is back, is PROPAGANDA. Recovery HAS NOT OCCURRED.
Any frickin’ questions?

What do we mean by ‘THE POLITICAL CLASS’?

Congress and it’s employees OF BOTH PARTIES, btw, will be EXEMPT from the mandate for all american citizens for health insurance, and keep PRECISELY what they have regardless of it’s details compared to the requirements of the ACA and paid for by the american people.
Not the ‘1%’ and the rest of us.
GOVT EMPLOYEES and the rest of us.
Those who vote for laws and the rest of us.
Those who execute administrative rulings extending their own power and the rest of us.
This system has a name. Barring being locked to the land (something done away with in England in the 14th century), this is called FEUDALISM. We will owe allegiance and loyalty to those who grant us dispensation. We will feel fear to speak out in opposition to their power because of what they can do to our families without recourse. Each fiefdom will notbe obordered by land, but authority.
Health Power.
Tax Power.
Job Power.
Regulation Power.
Congress (and the IRS if they get their wants) exempting themselves and their employees from Obama care is a simple SYMPTOM, the eyes of the crocodile above the water.
The political class, privileged and entitled, self arrogating, pampered, blind, deaf to common sense, and BIPARTISAN in executing authority, and expectation.
The rest of us. Either demanding more largesse from this class, or feeling the beginnings of seething, then end of the USA, and seeing the outlines of a disaster of unimaginable consequences.
DETROIT nationwide, and a nation where they pretend to pay us, and we pretend to work.

CNN Learns “Dozens” of CIA Operatives Were on the Ground During Benghazi Attack

Jake Tapper at CNN reported:
CNN has uncovered exclusive new information about what is allegedly happening at the CIA, in the wake of the deadly Benghazi terror attack.
Four Americans, including Ambassador Christopher Stevens, were killed in the assault by armed militants last September 11 in eastern Libya.
Sources now tell CNN dozens of people working for the CIA were on the ground that night, and that the agency is going to great lengths to make sure whatever it was doing, remains a secret.
CNN has learned the CIA is involved in what one source calls an unprecedented attempt to keep the spy agency’s Benghazi secrets from ever leaking out.
Since January, some CIA operatives involved in the agency’s missions in Libya, have been subjected to frequent, even monthly polygraph examinations, according to a source with deep inside knowledge of the agency’s workings.
The goal of the questioning, according to sources, is to find out if anyone is talking to the media or Congress.
It is being described as pure intimidation, with the threat that any unauthorized CIA employee who leaks information could face the end of his or her career.

Burn After Reading, The Culturist Review

The Coen Brothers' film, Burn After Reading (2008), is about what happens when our Christian God leaves public life – the government fills the vacuum and people become 'morons'. The film speaks directly to Liberty GB values, culturally. For fun and profit, culturists need to watch this film, study it.

In the opening scene we come from a God's eye view of Earth to the CIA headquarters. Therein, John Malkovich gets fired from his job as a CIA Balkans analyst. He says his firing is a crucifixion and stands with his hands out wide. He is Jesus. In the very next scene he's being asked about picking up "cheeses" (Jesus) because the Pharaohs are coming to dinner. Fun stuff.

The political messages are subtle but strong. On a boat at sea, Malkovich tells his silent father (God) that he quit his job because it is not the same as when he (God) was "in State." Malkovich's Jesus character guesses that perhaps it is the end of the Cold War (when we were fighting Godless communists). Now government seems to be "all bureaucracy and no mission."

Pro-Union ACLU Accuses Its Own Unionized Workers of “Extortion”

Did you know that the clerical and other support staff for the American Civil Liberties Union is, well, unionized? Well, they are and that is causing ACLU executive director Anthony Romero some serious heartburn.
Romero told the Village Voice in a July 25 interview that the workers’ union, United Auto Workers Local 2110, was engaging in a “subtle form of extortion” by criticizing the ACLU to the press.
“[The union] is using the press to embarrass us and back us into a corner to make concessions that are not in keeping with the market and not in keeping with other employers,” Romero said. He was responding to a Village Voice piece the previous day titled: “The ACLU Is Going After Its Own Union Workers’ Contracts.”
This situation is more than a little ironic, given that the ACLU is a well-known  – perhaps the best-known — advocate of free speech and a free press. Somewhat less well-known is that it also an advocate of collective bargaining rights
In the July 24  piece, the Voice reported that the civil rights group was asking for “unprecedented” givebacks from its legal assistants, receptionists, bookkeepers, accounting assistants and mail clerks.
