Obama Admin Ignores Federal Law. Again.

Under Federal Law employees who may be laid off because of sequestration must be given 60 days notice before the layoff occurs. That means that they must receive those notices no later than November 1 if sequestration looks like it may happen.

The elction, of course, is 5 days later.

The Obama Admin says meh, don't worry about giving the notices. Sequestration won't really happen.

Funny thing that. . .

Washington Times:

Sequestration layoff warnings won’t be coming

Labor: Budget deal possible

The Labor Department said Monday that federal contractors do not have to warn their employees about potential layoffs from across-the-board budget cuts that could begin on Jan. 2.

In a guidance letter, the agency said it would be “inappropriate” for employers to send such warnings because it is still speculative if and where the $110 billion in automatic cuts might occur. About half the cuts would be in defense.

The letter comes days after a Pentagon official said Defense Department contractors could be sending their workers layoff notices four days before the Nov. 6 presidential election. That prospect has unnerved the White House because it would affect thousands of defense workers in presidential battleground states such as Florida, North Carolina and Virginia.

Under the federal Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act, employers of companies with 100 workers or more are required to provide notice 60 days in advance of a plant closing or mass layoffs.

But the Labor Department letter says federal agencies have not announced which contracts might be affected by the budget cuts — known in Washington as sequestration — so any plant closings or layoffs are “speculative and unforeseeable.” It also points out that lawmakers are trying to avert the cuts, which would avoid layoffs altogether.

The letter was sent to state workforce agencies that help laid off workers find new jobs or get additional training.

The GOP chairman of House Armed Services Committee claimed the new guidance was politically motivated.

“People will still get laid off because of the president’s irresponsibility, but they won’t have the notice to protect themselves and their families,” California Rep. Howard P. “Buck” McKeon said.

The guidance comes as major defense contractors are bracing for the possibility of mass layoffs. Lockheed Martin, for example, has told Congress that across-the-board reductions could result in layoffs of 10,000 employees out of the company’s 120,000 workers.

The military will face a reduction of $492 billion over a decade, with a $55 billion cut beginning in January, unless Mr. Obama and congressional Republicans and Democrats can agree on a plan to avert the cuts. Domestic programs also would be reduced by $492 billion over 10 years.

The automatic cuts are slated to take effect because of the failure last year of a bipartisan congressional panel to come up with a plan to cut the deficit by $1.2 trillion over 10 years.

NBC's Boondoggle Of Olympics 2012 Coverage

Related to this previous post here at IBA, from this source:
...'Our programming is tailored for the U.S. audience,' spokesman Greg Hughes simply explained after outrage over the weekend.

[...]

...Americans, who NBC suggested would not be interested in a tribute to victims just because the tragedy did not occur in their country.

'Can you imagine the BBC opting to cut out a tribute to 9/11 at a future Olympics held in the States because it wasn't "tailored for a UK audience"?' Daily Kos fumed.

'If that happened... the switchboards at BBC Broadcasting House would have blown a fuse.'

The segment's choreographer and dancer Akram Khan said he was 'disheartened and disappointed' that NBC cut the entire segment, while his director Nicholas Wolaver branded it 'disgraceful'.

...NBC is known for cutting away for small portions of the opening ceremonies to make way for averts, but U.S. commentators say they have never heard of it skipping a whole performance before....
Now comes THIS, dated July 31, 2012:
Online backlash as Twitter locks out Independent reporter

...The US television broadcaster NBC was at the centre of controversy last night after it persuaded Twitter to suspend an Independent journalist who criticised its coverage of the Olympics.

Guy Adams, this newspaper's Los Angeles correspondent, was removed from the social networking site on the day that he wrote a news story detailing widespread public complaints about the network's coverage of the London Games.

According to Twitter, he was suspended for a message posted during the Opening Ceremony, when NBC prevented viewers of America from watching live coverage, so that the network could screen the occasion during an evening prime-time slot coveted by advertisers....
Advertisers, huh? Just who ARE those advertisers?

Of course, NBC's response has been one of "We didn't do it. TWITTER did it."

According to Guy Adams, NBC has "a relationship" with Twitter.

America Is Not At War Against Islam, America is At War Against The Truth

From Barrack Now:
On today's program, I looked at the string of head-scratching incidents relative to the Bush administration's refusal to deal with the Islamic threat to the United States by the likes of Al-Qaeda Godfather Abdullah Omar Naseef. If you've ever wondered about the root causes of the animosity for the Tea Party that exists within the Republican establishment, the intelligence available to the Bush administration both before and after 9/11 about the perpetrators of 9/11 is something the establishment doesn't want Tea Partiers like Sarah Palin or Michele Bachmann getting too close to.

Naseef had distinct ties to the Saudi Arabian government; he was named in a civil lawsuit in 2004 by the families of 9/11's victims. However, he wasn't identified by the Bush administration as a target of American ire after 9/11, which he definitely should have been. Here is what Andrew McCarthy had to say about Naseef's history of escaping U.S. accountability relative to his ties to al-Qaeda:

…in 2004, he was named as a defendant in the civil case brought by victims of the 9/11 atrocities. (In 2010, a federal court dropped him from the suit — not because he was found uninvolved, but because a judge reasoned the American court lacked personal jurisdiction over him.)
The questions I posed were simple: Why was Naseef merely relegated to being a defendant in a civil case? Why wasn't he targeted by the Bush Administration? Why wasn't he prosecuted by Bush's Justice Department like, say, Abdurahman Alamoudi, who had been a State Department employee during the Clinton administration? In October of 2003, Alamoudi was arrested and ultimately convicted of financing terrorism.

If Alamoudi's background was given even a cursory look, it would have become obvious that Naseef was a bigger fish the administration should have been very interested in; it wasn't. Naseef skated and the threats posed by him and his underlings to America are graver than they've ever been. There was the reality of Bush granting access to Alamoudi despite big red flags. Here's a photo of Alamoudi standing with George W. Bush, circa 2000.

From History Commons, via Newsweek:

Presidential candidate George W. Bush and his political adviser Karl Rove meet with Muslim activist Abdurahman Alamoudi. The meeting is said to have been brokered by Republican lobbyist Grover Norquist. Little is known about the meeting, which will not be reported until 2007. At the time, Alamoudi is head of the American Muslim Council (AMC), which is seen as a mainstream activist and lobbying group. But Alamoudi and the AMC had been previously criticized for their ties to Hamas and other militant groups and figures (see March 13, 1996). Bush and/or Rove will meet with Alamoudi on other occasions (see (see July 2000, June 22, 2001, September 14-26, 2001). US intelligence learned of ties between Alamoudi and bin Laden in 1994 (see Shortly After March 1994); he will be sentenced to a long prison term in 2004 (see October 15, 2004).
Then, of course, there was Bush's decision to stand with CAIR six days after 9/11, at a mosque:

In 2002, a terrorist entity known as the SAAR Network was targeted by U.S. authorities. Both Naseef and Alamoudi were connected to SAAR (Alamoudi was an executive assistant). Yet, despite all of the evidence required to convict Alamoudi, we're to believe that the Justice Department just overlooked Naseef?!

Hardly.

Alamoudi wasn't the only terrorist who was given access to Bush. Sami al-Arian was another, viaHistory Commons:

Sami al-Arian attends a meeting in the White House complex with President Bush’s adviser Karl Rove. Al-Arian is one of 160 members of the American Muslim Council who are briefed on political matters by Rove and others. Al-Arian had been under investigation for at least six years by this time, and numerous media accounts reported that US investigators suggested al-Arian had ties to US-designated terrorist groups. Yet al-Arian passes the Secret Service’s stringent security check, enabling him to attend the meeting.

NEWSWEEK, 7/16/2001; WASHINGTON POST, 2/22/2003] “A law-enforcement official… [said] the Secret Service had flagged al-Arian as a potential terrorist prior to the event,” Newsweek later reports. “But White House aides, apparently reluctant to create an incident, let him through anyway.”[NEWSWEEK, 3/3/2003] In 2005, al-Arian will be found innocent of serious terrorism charges, but sentenced to almost three years in a US prison on lesser charges (see December 6, 2005). Abduraham Alamoudi is also at the meeting. US intelligence have suspected Alamoudi of ties to bin Laden and Sheikh Omar Abdul-Rahman since 1994 (see Shortly After March 1994). Rove and Bush met with Alamoudi in 1999 and 2000 as well (see 1999 and July 2000). Alamoudi will later be sentenced to 23 years in a US prison for illegal dealings with Libya (see October 15, 2004). [WASHINGTON POST, 2/22/2003]
Here's a photo of Alamoudi (far left), George W. Bush (center), and Karl Rove (far right):

The Republican establishment in general and the Bush administration in particular messed up in a major way by not going after the government of Saudi Arabia after 9/11. Any serious attempt to find out the truth would have led to Abdullah Omar Naseef - an al-Qaeda leader who was connected to the Saudi government.
We're left to conclude that the establishment will fight tooth and nail to prevent the truth about what it did (and failed to do) both before and after 9/11. Until these people come clean and 'fess up, America will be placed in ever increasing danger.

OBAMA CALLS AURORA SHOOTINGS TERROR, CALLED NIDAL HASAN'S JIHAD MURDER OF 13 MILITARY MEN "WORKPLACE VIOLENCE"

When it came to the Fort Hood jihad massacre back in 2009, Obama showed no similar curiosity about what “causes someone" -- jihadist Nidal Hasan -- "to take the life of another.” And he did not use the word "terrorize."

Hot Fun In The Summertime

Wall Street Already Betting On Who Wins in November

FROM CNBC:
With just 100 days left until the U.S. presidential election, investors are beginning to make bigger bets on which candidate will carry the day.
One analysis concludes that last week's sharp three-day market surge can only mean that Wall Street is banking on a victory from Republican Mitt Romney.
That's the logical interpretation one can draw from a rally amid conditions that otherwise would demand a selloff, Morgan Stanley chief U.S. equity strategist Adam S. Parker said in an analysis that asserts there is no other reason now to like stocks than a Romney win.
"The problem is that it’s impossible to be bullish and right for the right reasons," Parker said in a note to clients in which he reiterated his 2012 price target for the Standard & Poor's 500 [.SPX  1385.30    -0.67  (-0.05%)   ] at 1,214, which would mark a 12 percent drop from the current level.
"Nearly every day someone expresses surprise that our base case is for the equity market to be down by 10-15 percent. Why is this so hard to believe? The market has had eight 10 percent down moves in the last 12 years," Parker said. "We think a better question is why more people don’t forecast that the next 10-15 percent move is down than up?"
Parker cites weak earnings and the likelihood that central bankers won't be able to continue to save the day as bolstering the case against equities. The near-zero interest rate policies from the Federal Reserve and now theEuropean Central Bank, in fact, are weakening the outlook for stock multiples, he said.
The conclusion Parker draws is that investors are betting that Romney will unseatPresident Obama and bring a more business-friendly environment to the White House.

Fluorescent Lighting (CFL's) Pour Out Radiation, Damage Skin, and Look Like A Hell-Sheen Has Been Painted Over Everything in Your Home

STUDY: CFLs are bad for you. Daily Caller reports:
Scientists concluded that CFL light bulbs can be harmful to healthy skin cells.
“Our study revealed that the response of healthy skin cells to UV emitted from CFL bulbs is consistent with damage from ultraviolet radiation,” said lead researcher Miriam Rafailovich, Professor of Materials Science and Engineering at Stony Brook University, in New York, in a statement. “Skin cell damage was further enhanced when low dosages of TiO2 nanoparticles were introduced to the skin cells prior to exposure.”
According to Rafailovich, with or without TiO2 (a chemical found in sunblock), incandescent bulbs of the same light intensity had zero effects on healthy skin.
The scientists found that cracks in the CFL bulbs phosphor coatings yielded significant levels of UVC and UVA in all of the bulbs — purchased in different locations across two counties — they examined.
I was an early adopter of CFLs, but have since removed almost all of them from our house. Not because of reports like this one, or because of the potential for expensive cleanups after a broken one, or any of the other many problems the screwy little bulbs create.
No, I took them out because the light sucks. And also because they’re too expensive, don’t last as long as advertised, and therefore aren’t any cheaper to run.
I still keep a few installed, mostly outside. The sconces around our house have frosted covers, which masks just how damn ugly the light is. Besides, we’re trying to make it possible to see the sidewalk at night — not to put on makeup in the bathroom mirror or prepare tasty-looking food in the kitchen. It’s also nice to run the equivalent of ten 100-watt fixtures on just a fraction of the apparent wattage.
We keep two in the garage, also — but that’s out of three ceiling fixtures. I’ll explain in a moment.
CFLs broke a lot of promises.

Energy: Good News Is Breaking Out All Over, Liberals Hardest Hit

From Walter Russel Mead:

The Energy Revolution 4: Hot Planet?

Over a series of recent posts, I’ve been looking at the energy revolution that is changing the look of the 21st centuries. Some countries are losers, but the US in particular stands to make big gains at home and in its foreign policy.
On the whole, this news is about as good as it gets: trillions of dollars of valuable resources are now available to power the US economy, cut our trade deficit and reduce our vulnerability to Middle East instability. Hundreds of thousands of well paid blue collar jobs are going to reduce income inequality and help rebuild a stable middle class. Many of the resources are exactly where we would want them: in hard hit Rust Belt states.
World peace is also looking more possible: the great powers aren’t going to be elbowing each other as they fight to control the last few dribs and drabs of oil. Nasty dictatorships and backward-facing petro-states aren’t going to be able blackmail the world as easily.
But there is one group (other than the Russians and the Gulf Arabs and the Iranians) that isn’t sharing in the general joy: the greens. For them, the spectacle of a looming world energy crisis was good news. It justified huge subsidies for solar and wind power (and thereby guaranteed huge fortunes for clever green-oriented investors).
Greens outdid themselves year after year with gloom and doom forecasts about the coming oil crunch. They hoped that public dislike of the Middle East and the costs of our involvement there could be converted into public support for expensive green energy policies here at home: “energy independence” was one of the few arguments they had that resonated widely among average voters.
Back in those salad days of green arrogance, there was plenty of scoffing at the ‘peak oil deniers’ and shortage skeptics who disagreed with what greens told us all was settled, Malthusian science. “Reality based” green thinkers sighed and rolled their eyes at the illusions of those benighted techno-enthusiasts who said that unconventional sources like shale oil and gas and the oil sands of Canada would one day become available.
Environmentalists, you see, are science based, unlike those clueless, Gaia-defying technophiles with their infantile faith in the power of human creativity. Greens, with their awesome powers of Gaia-assisted intuition, know what the future holds.
But those glory days are over now, and the smarter environmentalists are bowing to the inevitable.
George Monbiot, whose cries of woe and pain in the Guardian newspaper have served as the Greek chorus at each stage of the precipitous decline of the global green movement, gave voice to green grief at the prospect of a wealthy and prosperous century to come: “We were wrong,” he wrote on July 2,”about peak oil. There’s enough to fry us all.” Monbiot now gets the politics as well:
There is enough oil in the ground to deep-fry the lot of us, and no obvious means to prevail upon governments and industry to leave it in the ground. Twenty years of efforts to prevent climate breakdown through moral persuasion have failed, with the collapse of the multilateral process at Rio de Janeiro last month. The world’s most powerful nation is again becoming an oil state, and if the political transformation of its northern neighbour [a reference to Canada] is anything to go by, the results will not be pretty.
In other words, a newly oil rich United States is going to fight even harder against global green carbon policies, and the new discoveries will tilt the American political system even farther in the direction of capitalist oil companies.
Capitalism is not, Monbiot is forced to admit, a fragile system that will easily be replaced. Bolstered by huge supplies of oil, it is here to stay. Industrial civilization is, as far as he can now see, unstoppable.
Gaia, that treacherous slut, has made so much oil and gas that her faithful acolytes today cannot protect her from the consequences of her own folly.
Go read the whole thing.

National Culturists Emerge in Britain

Today I learned of the formation of a National Culturists political organization in Britain.  They are actively spreading the words "Culturism" and "Culturist" in an effort to protect Britain.   Mr. Jack Buckby, an acitivist and political science major at the University of Liverpool, serves as the Chairman of the National Culturists.  He spoke at the European National Movements Conference on culturism, and is setting up university chapters, which may perhaps ask for culturist courses along side the multicultural offerings.

The National Culturists website carries a video of Buckby's capable speech.  He suggested that we adopt the terms "culturism" and "culturist" to win back the public dialogue.  Even in Britain, multiculturalists call anyone who points out that diversity can account for significant differences in meaningful characteristics such as educational and economic attainment "racists."  Cultural diversity is real and important.  When we spread the words, Buckby tells the conference, we can take back the dialogue.

The National Culturists have grown rapidly.  Many political parties have taken to the terms "culturism" and "culturist" under their leadership.  They are not a political Party.  They have gotten members of various Party's to agree to join the moment in spreading the words "culturism" and the "culturists."  They have also networked with Churches and Pagans as these comprise the traditional majority culture of Britain.

In a video, Jack Buckby says he welcomes all who support the maintenance of the traditional majority culture, regardless of religion or cultural background or sexual orientation.  This provides a worthy culturist goal of including all who respect, if not seek to assimilate into, the traditional majority British culture. And, were more time in the video, Buckby might have noted that to protect British and Western culture maintains the world's only safe havens for LGBT persons.

In sum. I like this new National Culturists organization.

Romney Says Israel’s Capital Is Jerusalem, Vows To Move U.S. Embassy There

From The Hill:

Mitt Romney on Sunday declared Jerusalem to be the capital of Israel and said he would seek to move the U.S. embassy there from Tel Aviv as president if the Israeli government ascents.
“A nation has the capacity to choose its own capital city, and Jerusalem is Israel’s capital,” the presumptive Republican presidential nominee said in an interview on CNN, conducted in Jerusalem. “I think it’s long been the policy to ultimately have our embassy in the nation’s capital of Jerusalem.”
Romney gave several televised interviews and delivered a speech in Jerusalem during a trip to Israel aimed at emphasizing his ties to the close U.S. ally and boosting his support among Jewish Americans and supporters of Israel.
“I would follow the same policy we have had in the past, our embassy would be in the capital, and the timing of that is something I would want to work out with the government,” Romney said.
During a separate speech, Romney made a point of referring to Jerusalem as the capital of the Jewish state.
Its status is a critical point of contention in the long-running dispute between Israel and the Palestinians. As a result, recent U.S. presidential administrations have avoided the question and maintained the U.S. embassy presence in Tel Aviv, despite a 1995 law that declares Jerusalem to be the capital.

Iran and Syria Nerve Gas is Made in Europe

(INN)

"Nothing keeps a German or French firm - and a British, Italian or Swiss one - from making a good profit. And if it puts the Zionist state in danger, no problem."
Syria threatens to use chemical weapons, including lethal gas and germs, against "external forces". And the unthinkable becomes much more concrete in Israel. The gas mask distribution centers have increased their activities in the last few days. Health authorities may start inoculation of soldiers and emergency care personnel against smallpox. Family drug kits, including antibiotics against anthrax, may be delivered door-to-door. The Education Ministry will prepare material for all students instructing them on the ABC's of chemical and biological warfare.
The message is clear: Israel should be prepared for the worst.
Already in May 2011, then US Defense Secretary Robert Gates warned about the possibility that Hizbullah is armed with chemical warheads. Syria's stockpiles could fall into the hands of al-Qaeda, which is involved in the fighting, a military faction, or a post-Assad regime controlled by Islamists. It's the worst kind of nightmare. What very few people know is that European companies and scientists gave Iran, Syria, Libya and Iraq the material to attempt to kill the Jews, again. In 1992 a 100-page report, prepared by the Paris-based Middle East Defence News, listed about 300 European firms which the centre said it believed had "played a significant role in the unconventional weapons programmes in Iran, Syria and Libya".

Germany topped the list of suppliers with 100, the report said, then 29 French, 22 British, 13 Italian and 13 Swiss. German companies have played a crucial role in helping Iran to build a chemical weapons industry, and have illegally supplied nerve gas precursor chemicals," the report said.
It said France had played a "crucial role...in helping Syria to develop both a chemical weapons and a biological weapons capability". The West German firm Degussa supplied of chemicals to Libya used to manufacture poison gas. This company also owned a 42.5 per cent share in the Degesch company, which supplied the Zyklon B gas used in the death camps.

Degesch is the acronym for "Deutsche Gesellschaft fuer Schaedlingsbekaempfung", a company for the extermination of vermin.
It developed the method of using hydrogen cyanide, Zyklon B, as an ingredient in its fumigation gas for buildings and ships. The gas it supplied to Auschwitz was used in the killing of two million Jews.
"For years, Iraqi officers had asked us how it had been with the gassing of the Jews." said Maj. Gen. Karl-Heinz Nagler, former head of the East German Army's chemical service, who had trained the Iraqi Army in chemical warfare for 15 years.
The manufacturing of di-fluoro - from which nerve gas is obtained - requires resistant glass components. Two German companies gave these to the Syrians. French scientific institutes also played a role, through scientific exchanges. ...
Today, again, Jews are described by Islamists as sub-humans, with expressions like “pig,” “cancer,” “filth”, “microbes” or “vermin”. Without the European chemical companies, there would be no Syrian and Iranian germs and gas' threat to Israel.
We can be partners in the Jewish struggle against the new apocalypse. Or we can be part of it. The European companies and scientists have made their choice.

Italy's Olympic team shows the solidarity rest of IOC doesn't

Some brightening news from the Olympic scene:
The Italian Olympic team at the London Olympic Games made a noble gesture Sunday and stood in silence outside the quarters of the Israeli team, in memory of the 11 athletes slain in the Munich Olympics 40 years ago, Voice of Israel radio reported Sunday.

About 30 Italians were present at the ceremony, including Italy's Minister of Sport, the heads of the Italian Olympic Committee and athletes. Israeli Olympic Committee head Tzvi Varshaviak and Olympic delegation leader Efraim Zinger also took part.

According to an unverified report on the internet, the pilot and crew of a British airliner headed for Israel Thursday did what the Olympics Committee refused to do, and observed a moment of silence in memory of the Israel athletes murdered in Munich in 1972.

The "USA Stands with Israel" Facebook page, with over 10,000 subscribers, reported that the heartwarming gesture was made by a pilot for EasyJet, on a flight headed from the firm's home base of Luton, England, to Tel Aviv.
With any luck, there'll be more reps from various other countries who'll do the same as these groups have done, and will provide their own special moments of silence that the official committee doesn't have the courage to do.

Huma Abedin's sister (Heba) also connected to Muslim Brotherhood

It has been learned that the sister of Huma Abedin (Heba Abedin), like Huma, has served on the Editorial Board of the Institute of Muslim Minority Affairs (IMMA) as an Assistant Editor; Heba continues to serve in that capacity after Huma left in late 2008 to work for Hillary Clinton at the State Department. Please note that in 2002, Heba was referred to on the IMMA website as "Heba A. Khaled" and not by her familial last name.

Today, the spelling of Heba's last name is slightly different ("Khalid" instead of "Khaled").

In this screenshot from 1997, Heba is identified by her original last name as a "Contributor" to an issue of the Journal of Muslim Minority Affairs (Vol. 17, No. 1), along with her brother Hassan:

We have already demonstrated that both of Huma Abedin's parents (Syed Z. Abedin and Saleha Abedin) were / are very closely connected with the Muslim Brotherhood (her father is deceased and her mother is a leader with the Muslim Sisterhood) and that her brother (Hassan Abedin) has served as a fellow at the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies (OCIS) with the Brotherhood's spiritual leader, Yusuf al-Qaradawi and Chairman of the Board, Abdullah Omar Naseef, who founded IMMA. All of these Abedins have served or continue to serve in various capacities at IMMA.

As we reported yesterday, Heba has been quite public in her support of a petition to demand that Rep. Michele Bachmann apologize. Perhaps her motives for doing so extend beyond just defending her sister.

This is significant for another reason. Unless Huma has another sibling, it means that every member of her family - including herself - has served on the Board of an organization founded by an al-Qaeda Godfather, Abdullah Omar Naseef and a liberal western media continues to run interference for that family by demonizing Bachmann.

Heba has also been identified as one "the Girls of Weinergate."

NBC Edits Out Tribute To Victims Of Islamic Terrorism

From Jawa Report:

If you are watching the Olympics in the States, there's a part of the opening ceremony NBC chose to leave out. While the Olympic Committee opted not to have a moment of silence for the Israeli athletes murdered in 1972, they did have a tribute for the victims of the 7/7 Islamic terrorist attacks.

The tribute included the Christian hymn, "Abide With Me" performed by Scottish singer Emeli Sandé. NBC opted not to air it.
From Deadspin via Pat Dollard:
The major transitional element of today’s London Olympics opening ceremony was a downtempo performance of adoptive sporting anthem “Abide With Me” by Scottish singer Emeli Sandé. The song and accompanying dance were a tribute to the victims of the 7/7 terror attacks in London that claimed 52 victims days after the 2012 Summer Olympic hosts were named. (It’s also been suggested the performance was a memorial to the war dead.)Regardless, it was a rather significant and emotional moment in the opening ceremony, coming just before the parade of nations—and it wasn’t aired in the United States. Instead, viewers were treated to a lengthy and meaningless Ryan Seacrest interview of Michael Phelps.
Here's the tribute NBC didn't want you to see:

Update: UN ‘Small Arms Treaty’ Fails

July 28, 2012 12:26 pm

The UN ‘small arms treaty’ was highly anticipated among liberals and anti-gun groups, as it provided a fantastic way to get around the 2nd Amendment in order to implement strict gun control through a UN mandate. However, gun rights are fiercely defended in the US. Most politicians that attempt to implement gun-control laws can only do so in extremely liberal districts, or they often don’t see a second term in office. Normally, having a ‘pro-2nd Amendment’ leaning, is to err on the side off caution for many on Capitol Hill (that, or simply stay silent on the issue); however, given that conservatives in the US have been angered against the policies and recent speeches of the Obama administration, this could be one reason why the US was perhaps the first to back out of the treaty. USA Today reports:

Hopes had been raised that agreement could be reached on a revised treaty text that closed some major loopholes by Friday’s deadline for action. But the U.S. announced Friday morning that it needed more time to consider the proposed treaty — and Russia and China then also asked for more time.”

The fact that the US unraveled support for the treaty could be a good indication of two things:

  1. First, it hints that Barack Obama is growing desperate enough during this campaign to back out of a UN treaty that parallels his own personal aspirations for America. This is something for which liberals have been salivating for years, and the President was too timid to deliver.
  2. Second, it shows that the conservative voice has been heard, loud and clear. If the President hopes to have a prayer at winning in November, then he cannot touch this issue.

However, many in the UN are simply seeing these talks as a mere ‘setback’, and will reopen the discussion. The report states:

He said there are several options for moving forward in the General Assembly which will be considered over the summer, before the world body’s new session begins in September.”

This UN treaty still has a heartbeat. The US State Department was unwilling to follow through on its promises this time, however, many countries are still eagerly hoping to ratify it.

The secretary-general said he was disappointed at the failure to agree on a treaty, calling it “a setback.” But he said he was encouraged that states have agreed to continue pursuing a treaty and pledged his “robust” support.

At the end of the negotiating session, Mexico read a joint statement from more than 90 countries saying they “are determined to secure an Arms Trade Treaty as soon as possible.”

Ultimately, Barack Obama may be waiting for his second term in order to approve support for the ‘small arms treaty’, as he will then have nothing to lose. While some may cite the law stating that these treaties must be approved by the Senate, recent actions on the part of Washington agencies have indicated that they may simply not comply.

If the President sees reelection, the US may be forced under unconstitutional UN mandates. The preservation of liberty needs a vigilant watcher and a constant guardian.

If we had a true respect for what Islamic law tells  us about Islam, we would outlaw all preaching of Sharia and Jihad.

Australia's 60 Minutes Interviews Tommy Robinson

The interview with Tommy Robinson is pretty good. But, perhaps, even better is the interview with the Imam at about the 4:20 mark. Noting beats hearing it straight from the Horse's Mouth.

Postcards from Barack Hussein Obama.

According to a front-page story in the Washington Post two weeks ago, Obama has pursued a strategy of putting "daylight" between the U.S. and Israel. He's traveled to the Middle East multiple times -- to accept an award in Saudi Arabia, to give a major speech in Cairo, to hold town hall meetings in Turkey -- but never stopped to visit our closest ally in the region. Today ECI released a 30-second TV ad called "Postcards" that highlights Obama's "daylight" strategy. In a significant buy, it will appear today and Monday on MSNBC, CNN, and Fox News in Washington and New York, and through next week on broadcast and cable in Florida, Pennsylvania, and Ohio.

How Hitler Came To Power

Worth reading by way of review.

Excerpt:
...[T]he National Socialists never captured more than 37 percent of the national vote...

[...]

...Hitler returned to the Reichstag every four years to renew the “temporary” delegation of emergency powers that it had given him to deal with the Reichstag-arson crisis. Needless to say, the Reichstag rubber-stamped each of his requests...
Read it ALL.

Draw your own conclusions.

Also keep in mind the story "The Boy Who Cried Wolf."

Hitler comparisons have been so often drawn that, in my view, most are incapable of realizing when the wolf really is coming in the door.

Obama Announces Executive Order Creating Education Office For African “Americans”

From BuzzFeed:

Obama Backs Plan To Ensure Schools Don’t Discipline Black Students More Than White Kids

President Barack Obama is backing a controversial campaign by progressives to regulate schools’ disciplinary actions so that members of major racial and ethnic groups are penalized at equal rates, regardless of individuals’ behavior.
His July 26 executive order established a government panel to promote “a positive school climate that does not rely on methods that result in disparate use of disciplinary tools.”
“African Americans lack equal access to highly effective teachers and principals, safe schools, and challenging college-preparatory classes, and they disproportionately experience school discipline,” said the order, titled “White House Initiative On Educational Excellence.”
Because of those causes, the report suggests, “over a third of African American students do not graduate from high school on time with a regular high school diploma, and only four percent of African American high school graduates interested in college are college-ready across a range of subjects.”
“What this means is that whites and Asians will get suspended for things that blacks don’t get suspended for,” because school officials will try to level punishments despite groups’ different infraction rates, predicted Hans Bader, a counsel at the Competitive Enterprise Institute. Bader is a former official in the Education Department’s Office for Civil Rights, and has sued and represented school districts and colleges in civil-rights cases.

Russia wants naval bases abroad: report

Russiahopes to establish its first naval base abroad since the 1991collapse of the Soviet Unionand is looking at Cuba,Vietnamand the Seychelles as possible locations, state-runRIAnews agency quoted the navy chief as saying on Friday.
Russia has been increasing the reach of its navy in recent years, sending warships further afield as part of an effort to restore pride project power in a world dominated by the U.S. military.
“It’s true that we are continuing work on providing the navy with basing outside the Russian Federation,” RIA quoted Vice AdmiralViktor Chirkovas saying in an interview.
The Soviet Union had a large naval base in Communist ally Vietnam but post-SovietRussiaopted to vacate theCam Ranhbase in 2002, duringPresident Vladimir Putin’s first Kremlin term, because rent payments were a burden on state coffers.
The fate of Russia’s only naval facility outside the former Soviet Union, a maintenance and supply facility in the Syrian port of Tartous, is uncertain because of the conflict in Syria.
Chirkov said Russia was “working out the issue of creating sites for material and technical support on the territory of Cuba, the Seychelles and Vietnam,” RIA reported.
Chirkov’s wording suggested facilities in those countries might be less extensive than full-scale naval bases. Navy officials could not immediately be reached for comment.
Vietnamese President Truong Tan Sang, who was in Russia and was to meet Putin on Friday, was quoted as telling a Russian radio station that Vietnam has “no intention of cooperating with any country with the aim of military use of the port of Cam Ranh”.
However, Sang was quoted as telling Voice of Russia radio that a maintenance and service facility at the port would be open to ships from all nations and that, in the interest of furthering a “strategic partnership” with Moscow, Vietnam “will provide Russia with advantages in Cam Ranh, including with aim of developing military cooperation”.
Cuba?
Didn’t we do this dance once already?
Slava and Kirov class cruisers based in Cuba? The former with 16 SSN-12 missiles each, range 400+ miles, 359 kiloton warhead. Kirovs with minimum 20 SSN-19 missiles. And storage facilities in Cuba? Service?
Would this COMPLETE STUPIDITY be because of our anti missile bases in Poland?
Roosians have ONLY one response. They are dependeing on their friend, I suppose who told Medvedev that after the election he would have more flexibility. They are just sending a message perhaps. Making sure.
Note that even Vietnam wants no part of the Rooskies
I have what is ironically the Chicago response, even though Mr. Obama only lives in that world with those who can do him no physical harm.

For God's Sake!

Saw this over at Breitbart, citing New York Magazine, and burst into the laugh of the lunatic:
Mitt Romney’s plan of blatantly lying about President Obama’s “you didn’t build that” speech is clearly drawing blood. But what makes the attack work so well is not so much the lie itself but the broader subtext of it....

The key thing is that Obama is angry, and he’s talking not in his normal voice but in a “black dialect.” This [meaning, criticizing Obama's you-didn't-build-that remark] strikes at the core of Obama’s entire political identity: a soft-spoken, reasonable African-American with a Kansas accent. From the moment he stepped onto the national stage, Obama’s deepest political fear was being seen as a “traditional” black politician, one who was demanding redistribution from white America on behalf of his fellow African-Americans....
I can't take much more of this crap.

In my view, we are not far away from this: "You MUST be a racist if you didn't vote for Barack Hussein Obama."

EU Says It Doesn’t Have Enough “Tangible Evidence” Hezbollah Is A Terrorist Group…

From CNSNews.com:
Israeli officials and Jewish organizations have criticized the European Union’s continuing reluctance to designate Hezbollah as a terrorist organization, warning that at a time of escalating Iranian-sponsored international terrorism and the crisis in Syria failure to do so could impact on Mideast and global security.
Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah last week publicly reiterated his support for the Assad regime – the Lebanese Shi’ite group’s  most important ally after Tehran – andaccused the United States of fomenting the crisis it currently faces, prompting concerns that Hezbollah could mount fresh attacks in support of Damascus.
Israel meanwhile has accused Hezbollah and its patron, Iran, of responsibility for the July 18 bombing in Bulgaria, which cost the lives of five Israeli tourists and a Bulgarian.
Neither Bulgaria nor the U.S. have yet publicly assigned blame, although House Intelligence Committee chairman Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Mich.) and House Homeland Security Committee chairman Rep. Pete King (R-N.Y.) both told The Hill Wednesday they believe Iran and Hezbollah were involved.
The Israeli government, hopeful that an attack on European soil might strengthen its case, took up the matter this week at a meeting with the government of Cyprus – which holds the E.U.’s rotating presidency – but was rebuffed.
