Phares: Western Public Must Educate Itself About Jihadist Threat

"The Confrontation", Dr. Walid Phares' third book in his trilogy on the war against jihad ("Future Jihad" and "The War of Ideas" prceeded it), was released this month. Phares has consistently placed strong emphasis on the need for the Western public to be educated about the nature of jihadism and its threat to our society. He castigates Western academics and the MSM for defaulting on their responsibility to supply the public with the relevant information needed to form an accurate picture of the Islamist threat and act accordingly. Below are excerpts from Chapter 3: Cultural Revolution in the West.

The major missing component in the Western War on Terror is undoubtedly: public action and knowledge. The man or woman on the street is strangely absent from the raging debates on the conflict... On the afternoon of September 11, 2001, one might have expected to see millions in the streets demonstrating against al Qaeda and its ideology... but the people of America didn't show a visceral anger. Lighting candles, holding cermonies, and displaying the flag showed they were touched, hurt, and concerned. But the question most often asked was "Why?" This... showed how shielded the American public was from what had happened. The dominant elites had performed a lethal brainwashing... the public was denied the truth, and actively miseducated.

The marginalization of... the Western public denies them their basic right to resist the Jihadist onslaught. It denies the public the right to obtain information and to act. Ordinary men and women in societies under attack knew with their basic instincts that their culture and their very existence was being assaulted. But they were deprived of the knowledge needed to transform their feelings, their frustration, and their real aspiriations into action -- and by their own establishment... The elite... has acted in conjunction with the terror campaign, in fact betraying the confidence of its constituency.

In a besieged political culture, where the command-and-control systems are solidly in the hands of the oil-backed (and mostly Jihadi) cartels, the only choice when survival is at issue is for the public to rise... and presssure the press and audiovisual media to end the dominance of the apologists and open the media to a plurality of views on the terror wars. The public also has to look beyond the traditional media to a new media now available to civil society: bloggers, direct news from the field, YouTube, chat rooms, free media...

Citizens will have to educate themselves on the most dangerous development of the twenty-first century and begin electing officials on the basis of their understanding of the threat and their will to combat it.

Hi everyone. Well, now that the FITNA furor has died down somewhat, it's interesting to see how many people are condeming the film and how few people are condeming the thuggish intimidation that forced LIVE LEAK to remove it.

What happened to all those people who keep telling us "I don't agree with what you say but I'll defend your right to say it ." Where have they all gone? Maybe they're on vacation.

No shortage of politicians, however, lining up to accuse the film of falsely equating Islam with violence, which is a bit like falsely equating Walt Disney with Mickey Mouse.

I'm sure anyone who follows the news would also equate Islam with violence. I know I certainly do because anytime anybody criticises Islam, they're usually threatened with violence. Islam without violence is like an egg free omelet.

The religion is predicated on violence and the threat of violence. It's a 'religion of peace' in the same way that North Korea is a People's 'Democratic' Republic. But we're not allowed to say that, because if we do, we'll be threatened with violence.

When the film was actually removed - under threat of violence - some muslims had the nerve to congratulate LIVE LEAK ' for promoting tolerance' on the internet.
I'll tell you, whenever I think about this stuff now, I think I'm in a hall of mirrors . . .don't you?

To be fair, Dutch muslims do deserve some praise because they could've reacted violently and probably gotten away with it . . .we all know that. So, all credit to them for not exploiting the situation.

But the very fact that we are greatful to them, pretty much proves the point of the film. Because, let's be clear about this, it was the threat of muslim violence that caused the Dutch government to grovel in such abject dhimmitude and to run around apologising like headless chickens before and after the event.

A spectacle which I'm sure many muslims enjoyed - and why shouldn't they enjoy it? After all, it sends out a clear message to the entire muslim world that in Europe, we won't stand up for what we believe in. . .or what we 'say' we believe in and we will be intimidated into silence. All you've got to do is shake your fist and we'll do exactly as we're told.

So, Islam in Europe now enjoys the best of all possible worlds. It's a religion when it wants to be. It's a culture when it wants to be. And it's a race when it wants to be. It gets full rights on all three counts - demanding and getting respect wherever it goes while giving absolutely none. Hence, we were treated recently to the spectacle of the Swiss Foreign Minister degrading herself and her country by putting on a head scarf before she was allowed to meet the homicidal leadership of
Iran. In a cheap betrayal of all the brave women who have been murdered by these violent criminals in the name of Islam.

The Iranian government were among the first to criticise the film too. Taking time out from executing children, again - in the name of Islam, to denounce it roundly. But I'm sure most people realize that this fake outrage is in no way genuine. It's all part of a cynical campaign of intimidation by the Islamic world to force unwanted Islamic values into Western society. And that's why, in every free country they're now aggressive Islamist pressure groups, usually funded by the Saudis, who claim to speak for all muslims, but who actually speak only for a small band of fanatical bigots like themselves - and who are very quick to insult our culture and our values as degenerate and immoral while being themselves ultra-sensitive to any perceived criticism - portraying themselves as victims, as oppressed rather than as the oppressors they are. Knowing that if you repeat the lie often enough people will start to believe it. Mr. Goebbels taught us that little nugget of wisdom and the would be authors of the next hollocaust have learned their lessons well.

Now luckily for me I don't get insulted easily on a personal level, not even if being called a racist kafir as some idiot called me recently. When somebody attacks my culture, well, that's a little different because that's an assault on my values . It diminishes my sense of self worth. I believe it violates my human rights and I think he should be prosecuted as a hate crime. It's irrational, its paranoid and really I think there is only one word to describe it - and that is civilizationphobia.

This is a word I like to use as kind of like umbrella word for a host of different phobias that manifest themselves in Islam. Including elestherophobia (sp?)- fear of freedom. Epistomophobia - Fear of Knowledge. Prosophobia - fear of progress.
Picatophobia - fear of sinning or imaginary crimes. Categeliphobia (sp?)- fear of being ridiculed. Senophobia(sp?)-fear of new things and ideas Keraphobia - fear of gaety (big fear of gaety) and the biggest fear of all of course, gynophobia - fear of women. Islam is terrified of women and thats why all over the internet, you'll find clips from Arab television where along with all the rampant Jew hating and other propaganda aimed at turning children into murderers, you'll find clerics calmly explaining under what circumstances a man may beat his wife in the religion-of-peace. That's right, a man may beat his wife. And they wonder why we don't want this stuff in Europe. If you lay a violent hand on a woman. you're not a man - you're an animal and I don't care how many so called scholars tell you that cowardly brutality is the will of god. Chances are, you've never been on the receiving end of the kind of punishment you like to dish out so freely.

So, I hope the Hindus have it right because if there is any justice you will be reincarnated as a female from a sexual Jew and then you'll find out what a pain it is having to deal with violent primitive dick heads like you.

You know, when I was growing up I never thought I would be ashamed to live in the twenty first century. I thought it was going to be a new golden age. The space age. An age of knowledge and discovery and we'd have shaken off the shackles of superstition by now. Surely we have the technology to reach for the stars. Maybe we can even create paradise right here on earth.

I remember looking forward to it. Well, here we are and what have we got? We've got Islam, a violent, seventh century desert dogma that wants to take over the world, remove our freedom, subjugate women, brainwash children, pursecute Jews and homosexuals and drag us all back a thousand years. And all we can do is make excuses for it for fear of causing offence.

We really are pathetic - aren't we?

You know, I think people living five hundred years from now will look back on this period of history and they'll laugh at us.

For an inkling of what American Muslims would like to gain from the upcoming presidential election or otherwise through our political processes, one only need look at the "issues" presented at the Muslims-For-Obama Web site:

QUESTION: What are issues and recommendations for solutions that are unique to Muslim Americans?

1. A Law against harrassment [sic] of a Muslim women wearing Hijab at the Airport, DMV and other public arenas.

2. Institute a Law to allow Muslim Employees to take a hours off from work for Friday Jummah Prayer.

3. Make the 2 Eid's, recognized National Holidays on Calendars with days off from work.

4. Optional Halal meals in federal buildiings, [sic] public schools and colleges.

5. Provide prayer areas suitable for Salah and Jummah, in public and private facilities. (i.e. Malls, Airports, Universities and government buildings.)

6. Organize a Muslim American group to assist in recommendations for US foreign policy affecting majority Muslim countries.

Just about the only thing missing from this obnoxious wish list for special privilege is the grand enabler of them all: repeal of the First Amendment.


It is an obnoxious list, especially when you break it down and examine what each point means:

1) They loosely define "harrassment" of women who wear the Hijab as being that which happens at airports and the DMV, which are, of course, places where people are required to show their faces.

2) A law allowing Muslims to miss work for Friday prayers? No other religion gets to take hours off every week, so why should Muslims. Islam still only represents 1% of the American population. Christians don't ask for special hours to go to Mass. Instead, Christians have Mass and other services at various hours so that it can suit those who have to work. Additionally, it is Muslim law that Muslims are allowed to make up prayers when their prayers are interefered with by worldly concerns.

3) Make Eid a holiday? Once again, Muslims only represent 1% of the population. No, we should not make Eid a holiday. It's ridiculous enough that all the calendar companies began putting Muslim holidays on their calendar AS A REACTION TO 9/11. And, if you don't think it was a reaction to 9/11, then tell me why it is we started this after 9/11 and not before.

4) Optional halal meals especially for Muslims in schools and federal buildings? Once again, Muslims make up a very small percentage of the population. Should we also provide pig's blood to drink for the Satanists among us? I'm sure many people may think that is an obnoxious comparison, and it is, purposefully. But, the point is, at what percentage of population ought we start making legal changes to allow for various religious practices? And, do we want to encourage all religious practices by making laws? Islam calls for homosexuals and apostates to be put to death. Of course, we won't entertain the idea of honoring those ideas with a law. So, why would we entertain these other ideas?

5) Provide Muslim prayer areas in public places? No. Let them roll around on the floor in public if they want to do so. If I want to pray in public, I do so. No one has ever stopped me. I am a Christian. Christians have this habit of praying while holding hands in a circle. When I have done this in public, no one has complained. And, if they did, I really wouldn't care. If a security guard stopped us, I wouldn't complain. Why is it that Muslims complain all the time?

6) Organize a Muslim group to make recommendations for policy effecting Muslim nations? Fine, as long as it is a private organization.

Why would the Iranians broker a cease fire for Iraq vs Muqtadr?

USA TODAY:

BAGHDAD -- Iranian officials helped broker a cease-fire agreement Sunday between Iraq's government and radical Shiite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr, according to Iraqi lawmakers.

The deal could help defuse a wave of violence that had threatened recent security progress in Iraq.

The goal is not just to defuse violence it is to rid Iraq of Muqtadr, and end violence though WINNING a real peace.

It also may signal the growing regional influence of Iran, a country the Bush administration accuses of providing support to terrorists in Iraq and elsewhere.

Al-Sadr ordered his forces off the streets of Iraq on Sunday. Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki hailed al-Sadr's action as "a step in the right direction." It was unclear whether the deal would completely end six days of clashes between U.S.-backed Iraqi forces and Shiite militias, including al-Sadr's.

Osama al-Nujaifi, a Sunni lawmaker who oversaw mediation in Baghdad, said representatives from al-Maliki's Dawa Party and another Shiite party traveled to Iran to finalize talks with al-Sadr.

Iran has close ties with both al-Sadr's movement and al-Maliki, who spent several years in exile there. Al-Nujaifi said the agreement was brokered by the commander of Iran's al-Quds Brigade, which is considered a terrorist organization by Washington.

The Iranians don't want the militias who they control wiped out.

Why would the Iraqi govt agree? Why would we go along except to arrange to get out of town quietly?

A Dutch Muslim woman was thrown out of a public swimming pool for wearing an Islamic-style swimsuit, sparking a row between pool and municipality officials, German news agency DPA reported on Wednesday.

The woman, a convert to Islam, was wearing a "burkini" -- a combination of burqa (the garment Muslim women wear to cover the whole body) and bikini.

She was asked to leave Hanzebad swimming pool in the eastern Netherlands city of Zwolle, some 120 kilometers from the capital Amsterdam.

The municipality says the pool should allow women to wear the burkini, but pool officials said it does not meet regulations and might "scare off" other visitors, DPA reported.

The pool manager said there are special hours set aside for conservative Muslim women and added that the Dutch lady chose to swim outside ladies hours to make a statement.

Discussions are still underway between pool and municipality officials to resolve the matter, the German news agency said.

What is there to discuss? Special hours have been set aside for Muslim women, and they're still not satisfied? Oh, my mistake. She wanted "to make a statement." And just what might that statement be?

But Muslimah "fashions" are not only for the swimming pool and for making statements. Indeed, according to this story at ABC News, burqa makeovers are for both Muslims and non-Muslims:

The burqa is the wardrobe of choice for many Muslim women. It is worn over a woman's daily clothing, usually covering her from head to toe. Today, the burqa has gone designer, popping up on fashion runways in the West, like at this show by Norwegian designers Marked Moskva in Norway earlier this month....The designers reportedly say they are aiming their collection at Muslims and non-Muslims.

Islam The Biggest Religion In The World?

A story came out yesterday that the Vatican has announced that Islam has overtaken Catholicism as the "biggest single denomination" in the world.

This story was number one on Drudge, and it was at the top on most news pages.

But, it is a ridiculous story and here's why:

1) Catholicism is just a sect of Christianity, no matter what the bloated ego of the Papal artistocracy might want to think of themselves.

2) Islam is an entire religion. And, there are sects of Islam, the major ones being Shi'ism, Sunnism, and Sufism. There are also smaller sects.

Comparing one sect of Christianity to the entire religion of Islam is comparing apples to oranges, so it is a non-story.

Why do you think this story was released? It's hard for me to believe the people at the Vatican are so stupid that they don't realize it was a false comparison.

Note from Always On Watch: When the ummah hear that Islam has overtaken Catholicism, the ummah will be hearing that Islam has overtaken all of Christianity. Furthermore, the ummah will interpret the Vatican's statement as proof of the will of Allah, and the Vatican's statement will further embolden the jihadists. Indeed, the ranks of jihadists may grow in numbers.

It's Gettyburg - Maliki needs to CRUSH UTTERLY the Mahdi Army NOW

Now that Al Qaeda in Iraq has been obliterated, it is essential for the growth and security of Iraq, and for it's national identity against Iran, that the Mahdi army be destroyed. War is politics by other means, and the results of the battelfield will be the political future of Iraq.

Muqtadr al Sadr should have been at the least, imprisoned since Khoei was murdered in 2003. There is no excuse for allowing him, or his politics to control ANYTHING MORE. He represent brute force, and intimidation.

BAGHDAD (AP) - Shiite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr said Sunday that he was pulling his fighters off the streets nationwide and called on the government to stop raids against his followers and free them from prison.

The Iraqi government quickly welcomed al-Sadr's apparent move to resolve a widening conflict with his movement, sparked Tuesday by operations against his backers in the oil-rich southern city of Basra.

Al-Sadr's nine-point statement was issued by his headquarters in the holy city of Najaf and broadcast through loudspeakers on Shiite mosques. It said the first point was: "taking gunmen off the streets in Basra and elsewhere."

He also demanded that the Iraqi government stop "haphazard raids" and release security detainees who haven't been charged, two issues cited by his movement as reasons for fighting the government.

Followers handed out sweets in Baghdad's main Mahdi Army militia stronghold of Sadr City.

Government spokesman Ali al-Dabbagh called the statement "positive and responsible." But he also warned in a telephone interview broadcast on Iraqi state TV. that security forces would continue to target those who don't follow the order.

"We expect a wide response to this call," he said. "After this announcement, anybody who targets the government and its institutions will be regarded ... as outlaws."

Iraqi security forces have been facing fierce resistance to their crackdown on militia violence in the southern city of Basra.

Dozens of Shiite gunmen stormed a state TV facility in central Basra before al-Sadr's declaration Sunday, forcing Iraqi troops guarding the building to flee and setting armored vehicles on fire.

One of al-Maliki's top security officials was killed in a mortar attack against the palace that houses the military operations center, officials said.

The strength of the resistance to the week-old offensive has taken the U.S.-backed government by surprise, forcing it to come up with a new tactical plan targeting several Mahdi Army strongholds, a government official said.

The official, who was in Basra but spoke on condition of anonymity because he wasn't authorized to release the information, said Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki also had brought in reinforcements and appealed to local tribal leaders to help secure the area.

The prime minister, himself a Shiite, has called the fight "a decisive and final battle" and vowed to remain in Basra until government forces wrest control from militias, including the Mahdi Army that is loyal to radical cleric Muqtada al-Sadr.

Hugh Hewitt links a 1995 profile of Obama in the Chicago Reader. It’s worth reading in full. He shares his views on black churches and the Christian Right, and he makes clear his preference for “collective action” over individualism. And at the end, after discussing his participation in Minister Farrakhan’s Million Man March:

“But cursing out white folks is not going to get the job done. Anti-Semitic and anti-Asian statements are not going to lift us up. We’ve got some hard nuts-and-bolts organizing and planning to do. We’ve got communities to build.”

It doesn’t seem like Barack had any real problem with cursing out white folks or making anti-Semitic and anti-Asian statements, it’s just not as productive as he’d like. It’s the same when he discusses the “wonderful preachers” in Chicago. “As soon as church lets out,” he says, “the energy dissipates.” You see it’s not enough to just say “God Damn America” on Sunday, you have to organize your community and get on with the damning come Monday.

Update: Since Hugh’s linked back here…in response to his question (”Did many mainstream Dems join that march?”), the short answer is no. Only two members of Congress attended, as did a couple of mayors (including Marion Barry), Rev. Jesse Jackson, and Al Sharpton. President Clinton gave a speech endorsing the goals of the march, but condemning its organizer.

At the time Clinton said “One million men are right to be standing up for personal responsibility, but one million men do not make right one man’s message of malice and division.” He did not refer to Farrakhan by name, but in retrospect this looks like pretty strong stuff compared to Obama’s “Anti-Semitic and anti-Asian statements are not going to lift us up.” And of course Clinton didn’t actually attend the march.

Dr. Ibrahim al-Khouli, asked, "Are you a heretic?" He then said there was no point in rebuking or debating her, because she had blasphemed against Islam, the Prophet Muhammad and the Koran.

Dr. Sultan said she took those words as a formal fatwa, a religious condemnation. Since then, she said, she has received numerous death threats on her answering machine and by e-mail.

One message said: "Oh, you are still alive? Wait and see." She received an e-mail message the other day, in Arabic, that said, "If someone were to kill you, it would be me."

Dr. Sultan said her mother, who still lives in Syria, is afraid to contact her directly, speaking only through a sister who lives in Qatar. She said she worried more about the safety of family members here and in Syria than she did for her own.

"I have no fear," she said. "I believe in my message. It is like a million-mile journey, and I believe I have walked the first and hardest 10 miles."

The above story appeared in the International section of the New York Times. Never mind that Dr. Sultan and her family are American citizens.

Legal experts:although it may be seen as offensive by some it was not illegal

In the Chicago suburb of Skokie, one out of every six Jewish citizens in the late 1970s was a survivor--or was directly related to a survivor--of the Holocaust. These victims of terror had resettled in America expecting to lead peaceful lives free from persecution. But their safe haven was shattered when a neo-Nazi group announced its intention to parade there in 1977.

The debate was clear-cut: American Nazis claimed the right of free speech while their Jewish "targets" claimed the right to live without intimidation. The town, arguing that the march would assault the sensibilities of its citizens and spark violence, managed to win a court injunction against the marchers. In response, the American Civil Liberties Union took the case and successfully defended the Nazis' right to free speech.

Skokie had all the elements of a difficult case: a clash of absolutes, prior restraint of speech, and heated public sentiment.

The PISS CHRIST caused a scandal when it was exhibited in 1989, with detractors, including United States Senators Al D'Amato and Jesse Helms, outraged that Serrano received $15,000 from the taxpayer-funded National Endowment for the Arts for the work. Supporters argue the Piss Christ is an issue of artistic freedom and freedom of speech. The journal Arts & Opinion describes the controversy as "a clash between the interests of artists in freedom of expression on the one hand, and the hurt such works may cause to a section of the community on the other."^[2]

Sister Wendy Beckett, an art critic and Catholic nun, voiced her approval of Piss Christ. She explained in a television interview with Bill Moyers that she regarded the work as a statement on "what we have done to Christ" - that is, the way contemporary society has come to regard Christ and the values he represents.^[3]

Serrano produced other similar works to much less controversy; Madonna and Child II (1989), for example, in which the subject is similarly submerged in urine, is not nearly as well known.

Some have claimed that Piss Christ violated separation of church and state.^[4][5][6].

Piss Christ was included in "Down by Law," a "show within a show" on identity politics and disobedience that formed part of the 2006 Whitney Biennial. The BBC documentary "Damned in the USA" explored the controversy surrounding "Piss Christ".

2) UNITED NATIONS (Reuters) - U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on Friday condemned as "offensively anti-Islamic" a Dutch lawmaker's film that accuses the Koran of inciting violence.

Moon acknowledged efforts by the government of the Netherlands to stop the broadcast of the film, which was launched by Islam critic Geert Wilders over the Internet, and appealed for calm to those "understandably offended by it."

3) Muslim countries warned Friday of strong reactions to an anti-Islam film posted on the Internet by far-right Dutch deputy Geert Wilders, though initial reactions in the Netherlands were calm.

A handful of Muslim countries had responded early Friday, with Iran saying the short movie showed some Westerners were waging a "vendetta" against Islam, and warning of unspecified repercussions.

Bangladesh also said the film could have "grave consequences", while a coalition of Jordanian media said it would sue Wilders and launch a campaign to boycott Dutch products.

The European Union's Slovenian presidency also attacked the film, saying it served "no other purpose than inflaming hatred."

1) NEXT ENERGY NEWS: Massive Oil Deposit Could Increase US reserves by 10x

America is sitting on top of a super massive 200 billion barrel Oil Field that could potentially make America Energy Independent and until now has largely gone unnoticed. Thanks to new technology the Bakken Formation in North Dakota could boost America's Oil reserves by an incredible 10 times, giving western economies the trump card against OPEC's short squeeze on oil supply and making Iranian and Venezuelan threats of disrupted supply irrelevant.

In the next 30 days the USGS (U.S. Geological Survey) will release a new report giving an accurate resource assessment of the Bakken Oil Formation that covers North Dakota and portions of South Dakota and Montana. With new horizontal drilling technology it is believed that from 175 to 500 billion barrels of recoverable oil are held in this 200,000 square mile reserve that was initially discovered in 1951. The USGS did an initial study back in 1999 that estimated 400 billion recoverable barrels were present but with prices bottoming out at $10 a barrel back then the report was dismissed because of the higher cost of horizontal drilling techniques that would be needed, estimated at $20-$40 a barrel.

It was not until 2007, when EOG Resources of Texas started a frenzy when they drilled a single well in Parshal N.D. that is expected to yield 700,000 barrels of oil that real excitement and money started to flow in North Dakota. Marathon Oil is investing $1.5 billion and drilling 300 new wells in what is expected to be one of the greatest booms in Oil discovery since Oil was discovered in Saudi Arabia in 1938.

The US imported about 14 million barrels of Oil per day in 2007 , which means US consumers sent about $340 Billion Dollars over seas building palaces in Dubai and propping up unfriendly regimes around the World, if 200 billion barrels of oil at $90 a barrel are recovered in the high plains the added wealth to the US economy would be $18 Trillion Dollars which would go a long way in stabilizing the US trade deficit and could cut the cost of oil in half in the long run.

The geological model presented by Price in his paper appears solid and is built upon considerable input by North Dakota Geological Survey geologists, samples from the ND Core and Sample Library, and the well files from the Oil and Gas Division.
A sophisticated computer program with extensive data input supplied by the ND Geological Survey and Oil and Gas Division places the Bakken generated value at 200 - 300 BBbls.

Our government should consider doing the same for Dr. Sultan, an American citizen who is the subject of a death threat from an Islamist Cleric, Sheik al-Qarawadi.

Nasser Wahayshi has revived the Al Qaida network in Yemen in a development that challenges the U.S. presence in that Gulf state.

Wahayshi, regarded as a second-generation Al Qaida leader, took a defunct organization, resurrected the Islamic insurgency and has been directing attacks against the U.S. embassy in Sanaa. On March 18, Al Qaida gunners fired three mortars toward the embassy which struck a schoolyard and killed a student and a soldier.

I'm sure we're getting ream of help from the govt of Yemen.

"He is smart and he is daring," a Western intelligence source who tracks Al Qaida said. "That man can do a lot of damage."

Over the last year, Wahayshi has reorganized the Al Qaida network. The network has cells in virtually every region of Yemen and capable of attacking numerous targets.

But Wahayshi has been selective. In an effort to avoid a crackdown by the regime of President Ali Abdullah Saleh, Wahayshi has limited his targets to Westerners.

And what if some kufrs are knocked off? They should be in the Hijaz anyway, right?

Yemen is an important sphere in the Al Qaida war against the West. In a new audiotape released on March 24, Al Qaida deputy leader Ayman Zawahari called on Muslims to strike Jewish and American targets.

"Muslims, today is your day," Zawahiri said. "Strike the interests of the Jews, the Americans, and all those who participated in the attack on Muslims," Zawahari said. "Monitor the targets, collect money, prepare the equipment, plan with precision, and then -- while relying on God -- assault, seeking martyrdom and paradise."

Wahayshi is no novice to the world of Islamic terror. He left his home in the Yemeni province of Baydah for Afghanistan in the 1990s and eventually became secretary of Al Qaida founder Osama Bin Laden.

Under Bin Laden, Wahayshi was taught the importance of indoctrination in recruitment. Wahayshi also understood the need for any network to be compartmentalized as well as to communicate with Muslims everywhere.

The U.S. invasion of Afghanistan after the Al Qaida suicide strikes in September 2001 changed everything for Wahayshi. His boss, Bin Laden, fled toward Pakistan.

Wahayshi headed west toward Iran.

Wahayshi and hundreds of other Al Qaida fighters infiltrated Iran. But most of them were caught by authorities. The leading operatives, such as Seif Al Adel, were coopted by Teheran and used to order strikes against enemies of Iran.

The Western sources believe Wahayshi also cooperated with Iran against the West. After nearly two years in Iranian custody, Teheran extradited Wahayshi to Yemen as part of an extradition agreement.

I don't even SEE what the question is about Iran aiding or training salafists and Al Qaeda. Can there be much to distinguish between the muslism brotherhood in palestine (HAMAS) and Al Qaeda? I am disappointed the McCain rather than backing down over the idea of misspeaking did not use that as an opportunity to educate the obviously ignorant reporters.

WHY NOT?

By that point, Al Qaida in Yemen was on the ropes. In 2002, Al Qaida network chief Abu Ali Al Harithi, was killed in a CIA air strike in Yemen. The network sustained a leadership vacuum that nearly destroyed the movement.

Al Harithi was succeeded by Mohammed Hamdi Al Ahdal. But Al Ahdal was captured within several months in the job. By late 2003, the network reached rocked bottom.

Meanwhile, Wahayshi was in jail for what turned out to be a short period. In February 2006, Al Wahayshi and 22 other inmates -- aided by prison officials -- escaped from a maximum security facility in Sanaa. The escape marked the start of the second phase in the war against Al Qaida in Yemen.

Out of prison, Wahayshi re-established Al Qaida his way. The sources said Al Qaida became a centralized organization where Wahayshi made all the decisions.

First came the name: Wahayshi dubbed his network "Al Qaida Organization of Jihad in the South of the Arabian Peninsula." He also ordered the publication of an on-line journal termed Sada Al Malahim, or the Echo of Battles in which he called for recruits.

"Jihad is a religious duty that God has made incumbent," Sada said in its latest edition.

Wahayshi and his aide, Qasim Al Raymi, rebuilt the Al Qaida network and instilled discipline. In June 2007, Wahayshi was announced as the new network chief and ruled out negotiations with the Sanaa government. He also accused Al Qaida veterans of making deals with Yemeni President Ali Abdul Saleh.

"This no-holds-barred approach is a relatively new one in Yemen, where negotiation and compromise are much more common methods," Gregory Johnsen, a leading U.S. analyst on Yemen, said. "Under his leadership, Al Qaida in Yemen has become more strident, better organized and more ambitious than it has ever been before."

The United Nations: Citadel of Evil

The walking compost heap that is U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon had issued a statement on the short film Fitna:

I condemn, in the strongest terms, the airing of Geert Wilders’ offensively anti-Islamic film. There is no justification for hate speech or incitement to violence. The right of free expression is not at stake here. I acknowledge the efforts of the Government of the Netherlands to stop the broadcast of this film, and appeal for calm to those understandably offended by it. Freedom must always be accompanied by social responsibility.

The United Nations is the centre of the world’s efforts to advance mutual respect, understanding and dialogue. We must also recognize that the real fault line is not between Muslim and Western societies, as some would have us believe, but between small minorities of extremists on different sides with a vested interest in stirring hostility and conflict.

Actually, the United Nations is the center of the Organization of Islamic Conference's efforts to destroy freedom and murder all who stand in the way of Islamic Law anywhere on the face of the earth.

No doubt those who snivel about "Islamophobia" will accuse me of gross exaggeration. One can argue that Western New Guinea is the most obscure backwater on the face of the earth. The island is inhabited by Melanesians who pose no threat to anyone, except maybe themselves. Unfortunately for them, their primitive island (the second largest in the world) is in close proximity to the moderate Moslem state of Indonesia, OIC member in good standing. The result? Brutal slaughter of the pagan or Christian New Guinea people by the Javanese Empire, while the scum at the U.N. look the other way:

One teenage student is in hospital in a serious condition after being shot in the stomach when Indonesian security forces went on a shooting rampage against local people in the Paniai Lakes region of West Papua two weeks ago. The human rights violation coincides with the visit of Indonesian Defence Minister Sudarsono who is in Australia to attend the East Asia Dialogue Forum. The report from the remote region of Paniai demonstrates the disastrous role that Indonesian combat troops and paramilitary police are having throughout West Papua.

In a report tabled at the most recent session of the United Nations Human Rights Council (2008), the Catholic Office of Justice and Peace in Jayapura (SKP) reported 242 documented individual cases of torture and ill treatment by the security forces in West Papua since 1998.

Finally, SKP found that the use of torture and cruel and degrading treatment by the security forces towards the Indigenous population was both widespread and formed a culture of violence and racism embedded within the security forces.

Matthew Jamieson, spokesperson for Institute for Papuan Advocacy and Human Rights stated today that, "the shooting in Paniai follows the common pattern of indiscriminate violence against indigenous West Papuans. There is virtual legal impunity from prosecution for police and military forces involved in Human Rights abuses. Indonesian forces are stationed throughout West Papua, right down to the village level. The policy of stationing large numbers of combat troops and paramilitary police in every region is proving calamitous for indigenous West Papuans."

"The presence of senior commanding officers in West Papua, such as Burhanuddin Siagian, who have been indicted for 'Crimes Against Humanity' in East Timor, reinforces the culture of violence and impunity within the Indonesian security forces."

Meanwhile Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moonbat continues to cover for the killers. Anything less would be Islamophobia.

Honestly, a high school student could have produced a better Islam-critical animation. That the verses and their "controversial" meanings (when taken out of context) has been explained numerous times is immaterial.

Oddly enough the author doesn't enlighten us with the relevant context. Perhaps he can provide a few links to resources where Westerners can learn about the proper Islamic time and place for terror.

In fact, the only good thing about Fitna is the recitation of the said verses of the Quran. The qari who recited those verses had a melodious voice.

I can relate. Last year, I saw a brief documentary regarding the Nazis. I just couldn't help but gush, "Oh, what sexy uniforms!"

His new animated film reportedly shows the Muslim prophet, accompanied by his child bride Aisha, on the way to a mosque to “deflower” her. Wilders’ film (and the reaction to it) may be humdrum, in comparison!

As the world awaits the release of Geert Wilder’s much anticipated film, “Fitna,” we learn that ex-Muslim Ehsan Jami’s animated feature entitled, “The Life of Mohammed,” will also be released within weeks. Jami (b. 1985) is an Iranian émigré to the Netherlands, and member of the city council of Leidschendam-Voorburg, belonging to the Dutch Labour Party. He was one of two founders of the Central Committee for Ex-Muslims in 2007, is a routine recipient of death threats, and at one point, beatings.

Today from Expatica (Netherlands) we learn that Jami’s animated film on Islam, which “..is bound to come up against opposition. The Contact body for Muslims and the Government has already announced it will take legal steps against the film,” is nevertheless slated to be released April 20th.

An acute decapitation prevention alert may be in order for Mr. Jami, if and when his film is shown, based upon these pre-release details:

“Netwerk [a current affairs program] showed a drawing from the film, which is entitled The Life of Mohammed. The drawing shows the prophet Mohammed in the company of his 9-year-old wife Aisha. The prophet is on his way to a mosque to deflower his bride.”

PATRIOTIC squaddie Craig Briggs has been barred from joining the police — because he’s got an ENGLAND tattoo on his arm.

The Iraq veteran, 22, had wanted to be a cop since childhood and was advised to join the Army to get experience first.

But when he applied he was told: “Unfortunately, some people feel intimidated by the word England.”

Last night Craig, who has just completed 4½ years with the 3rd Battalion The Yorkshire Regiment, said: “I am shocked and disgusted.

"I don’t understand how it can cause offence. It is our country, after all.”

Obama's Secret Life

Ranting Wright is not the only mentor of hard leftist Obama that should be of concern, at least for those of us who value our liberty. Obama's Communist Mentor by Cliff Kincaid:

In his books, Obama admits attending "socialist conferences" and coming into contact with Marxist literature. But he ridicules the charge of being a "hard-core academic Marxist," which was made by his colorful and outspoken 2004 U.S. Senate opponent, Republican Alan Keyes.

However, through Frank Marshall Davis, Obama had an admitted relationship with someone who was publicly identified as a member of the Communist Party USA CPUSA). The record shows that Obama was in Hawaii from 1971-1979, where, at some point in time, he developed a close relationship, almost like a son, with Davis, listening to his "poetry" and getting advice on his career path. But Obama, in his book, Dreams From My Father, refers to him repeatedly as just "Frank."

AIM recently disclosed that Obama has well-documented socialist connections, which help explain why he sponsored a "Global Poverty Act" designed to send hundreds of billions of dollars of U.S. foreign aid to the rest of the world, in order to meet U.N. demands. The bill has passed the House and a Senate committee, and awaits full Senate action.

But you will find it briefly discussed, sort of, in Obama's own book, Dreams From My Father. He writes about "a poet named Frank," who visited them in Hawaii, read poetry, and was full of "hard-earned knowledge" and advice. Who was Frank? Obama only says that he had "some modest notoriety once," was "a contemporary of Richard Wright and Langston Hughes during his years in Chicago..." but was now "pushing eighty." He writes about "Frank and his old Black Power dashiki self" giving him advice before he left for Occidental College in 1979 at the age of 18.

This "Frank" is none other than Frank Marshall Davis, the black communist writer now considered by some to be in the same category of prominence as Maya Angelou and Alice Walker. In the summer/fall 2003 issue of African American Review, James A. Miller of George Washington University reviews a book by John Edgar Tidwell, a professor at the University of Kansas, about Davis's career, and notes, "In Davis's case, his political commitments led him to join the American Communist Party during the middle of World War II-even though he never publicly admitted his Party membership." Tidwell is an expert on the life and writings of Davis.

[Gerald] Horne, a history professor at the University of Houston, noted that Davis, who moved to Honolulu from Kansas in 1948 "at the suggestion of his good friend Paul Robeson," came into contact with Barack Obama and his family and became the young man's mentor, influencing Obama's sense of identity and career moves. Robeson, of course, was the well-known black actor and singer who served as a member of the CPUSA and apologist for the old Soviet Union. Davis had known Robeson from his time in Chicago.

As Horne describes it, Davis "befriended" a "Euro-American family" that had "migrated to Honolulu from Kansas and a young woman from this family eventually had a child with a young student from Kenya East Africa who goes by the name of Barack Obama, who retracing the steps of Davis eventually decamped to Chicago."

It was in Chicago that Obama became a "community organizer" and came into contact with more far-left political forces, including the Democratic Socialists of America, which maintains close ties to European socialist groups and parties through the Socialist International (SI), and two former members of the Students for a Democratic Society (SDS), William Ayers and Carl Davidson.

For his part, Horne says that Obama's giving of credit to Davis will be important in history. "At some point in the future, a teacher will add to her syllabus Barack's memoir and instruct her students to read it alongside Frank Marshall Davis' equally affecting memoir [but let's not call it indoctrination], Living the Blues and when that day comes, I'm sure a future student will not only examine critically the Frankenstein monsters that US imperialism created in order to subdue Communist parties but will also be moved to come to this historic and wonderful archive in order to gain insight on what has befallen this complex and intriguing planet on which we reside," he said.
