Parkland Student Kyle Kashuv Questioned By Police At School For Going To Shooting Range With His Father

From the Daily Wire:
On Friday, Parkland survivor Kyle Kashuv went to the gun range to learn to fire a gun for the first time, alongside his father. He tweeted this: According to Kyle, “My dad was there and I shot with an AR-15. After, I posted a few pictures and videos.”
Kashuv was quickly called out for visiting a gun range and posting about it by a variety of other students at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. But that wasn’t the end of the story.
When Kyle went to school today, his principal informed him that other students had been upset by his posts, but that he hadn’t done anything wrong.
But according to Kyle, in the middle of the morning, events took a different turn: Near the end of third period, my teacher got a call from the office saying I need to go down and see a Mr. Greenleaf. I didn’t know Mr. Greenleaf, but it turned out that he was an armed school resource officer. I went down and found him, and he escorted me to his office. Then a second security officer walked in and sat behind me. Both began questioning me intensely. First, they began berating my tweet, although neither of them had read it; then they began aggressively asking questions about who I went to the range with, whose gun we used, about my father, etc. They were incredibly condescending and rude.

AWLAKI’S AL-QAEDA RECRUITMENT LECTURES OFFERED IN GOOGLE PLAY STORE APP

From PJM:
An app that has been dowloaded more than a thousand times on Google Play hooks up users with a selection of audio lectures and video addresses from American al-Qaeda recruiter Anwar al-Awlaki. Al-Awlaki, the New Mexico native who remains a powerful recruitment force spanning terrorist group loyalties, was killed in an airstrike in Yemen in 2011.
ISIS fighters frequently quote the leading al-Qaeda member online. Lone jihadists are often found to have consumed al-Awlaki lectures, including 2016 Chelsea bomber Ahmad Khan Rahimi and Abdul Razak Ali Artan, the Ohio State student who rammed pedestrians on campus in 2016.
In a November anti-extremism crackdown, YouTube pulled tens of thousands of videos of al-Awlaki’s myriad sermons and Q&As that had been uploaded to the site. A search on the site now finds al-Awlaki videos that were posted 3 to 4 months ago, after the company’s purge.
The Google Play app titled “Anwar Al Awlaki Lectures” is filed under “entertainment” and rated E for everyone. The app’s audio selections include “Stop Police Terror,” which was a Friday sermon delivered by al-Awlaki at the East London Masjid on Dec. 26, 2003, “The Experiences and Ultimate End of Those Who Followed and Opposed the Prophet,” “The Quran – The Book Of Tolerance,” “Brutality Towards Muslims,” “Giving and Investing in the Hereafter,” and “It’s a War against Islam.”
It also includes segments from al-Awlaki’s six-hour “Constants on the Path of Jihad” lecture, which has been cited as the jihadist recruitment and incitement material in numerous terrorism cases including the 2007 plot to attack Fort Dix: “Jihad will continue until the Day of Judgment,” “Jihad does not depend on an individual or individuals,” “Jihad is not dependent on a particular land,” “Jihad is not dependent on a battle,” “Victory is not limited to military victory.”
The app table of contents leaves out the sixth part of the “Constants” lecture: “Defeat in jihad does not necessarily mean military defeat.” The al-Awlaki videos include the 2010 interview he gave to al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula’s Al-Malahem Media, in which al-Awlaki praised the Fort Hood operation and called for more attacks on America.
“The Americans do not want an Islam that defends the causes of the Islamic nation, or an Islam that calls for jihad, for the implementation of the shari’a… they want an Islam that is American, liberal, democratic, peaceful, and civilized,” he said. An ISIS video is also included in the play list.
The Google Play app was last updated on Dec. 28 though the reviews indicate the app was available dating back to at least January 2017. It has a user rating of 4.8 out of 5 stars. One reviewer states that he or she has “been waiting ever since Google too [sic] down the anwar al awlaki app, I loved it so much. Alhamdulilah you have this app!!!!” “Greatest scholar of this generation,” added another….

BREAKING

9 Killed, 16 injured. Van traveled at 70 mph

Witness: Van struck 'every single thing' on Toronto sidewalk

Police have arrested a suspect after a white van mounted the curb and struck numerous pedestrians in Toronto.
The incident happened on Yonge Street south of Finch Avenue, according to the Toronto Police Service. Initial estimates suggest eight to 10 people were struck.
Witness Alex Shaker, who was driving southbound at the time, says the van was travelling at high speed on the sidewalk. The van was also southbound.
“He started going down on the sidewalk and crumbling down people one by one,” Shaker told CTV News Channel on Monday afternoon.
Shaker said he saw the vehicle strike someone with a stroller.
“He just destroyed so many people’s lives,” he said. “Every single thing that got in his way.”
The extent of injuries is unknown and ambulances are on the scene. Photos posted online show multiple individuals on the ground.
Carol Roberts, who witnessed the aftermath, says she saw “a lot of people lying lifeless on the ground.”
“It was just so many bodies,” she told CTV News Channel.
Witness Phil Zullo, who was driving northbound, says he first noticed the commotion when he saw police taking down a male suspect.
Zullo says he continued north, where he saw “shoes and hats flown everywhere.”
The suspect was arrested beside the van on Poyntz Avenue off of Yonge, just south of Sheppard Avenue West. The van is marked as belonging to the rental company Ryder.
Video shared with CTV News shows the suspect pointing a small, dark object at police, with his back to the van. Police can be seen taking cover behind their vehicle and shouting at him to get down.
“Get down!” the officer is heard shouting.
“I have a gun in my pocket,” the suspect can be heard saying.
“Get down or you’ll be shot!” the officer says.
The camera turns away from the confrontation for approximately eight seconds, then looks back to show the suspect on the ground, face-down, with the officer cuffing him.
Another video recorded from a nearby building shows the moment missed in the previous video. The suspect can be seen walking out in the street with the object in his hand still pointed at the officer. After approximately five seconds he drops the weapon, throws out his arms and backs up to the curb.
Toronto paramedics are advising people to stay out of the area of Yonge Street near Finch and Sheppard Avenue.
Subway service has been suspended between the TTC’s Sheppard and Finch stations. No replacement shuttle services will be operating.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau briefly addressed the situation before a session in the House of Commons Monday afternoon.
“Our hearts go out to anyone affected,” Trudeau said. “We’re obviously going to have more to learn and more to say in the coming hours.”

Canada: Muslim stabs ex-girlfriend 40 times, slits her throat, shoots her for “taking ownership of her life”

A 22-year-old woman who died last month at the hands of her ex-boyfriend was stabbed 40 times and had her throat slit before being shot twice as she tried to escape her attacker, police say.
Nadia El-Dib’s body was found behind a home in northeast Calgary on March 25. Her killer, Abderrahmane Bettahar, 21, died four days later in a shootout with RCMP officers near Edmonton.
Because there will be no trial and the case is considered closed, Calgary police released details of El-Dib’s last moments Wednesday at the request of her family.
Police say they believe Bettahar and El-Dib left a downtown shisha bar together at around 3 a.m. on March 25. Despite having dated in late 2017, the two weren’t in a relationship at the time, police say.
Around 4 a.m., El-Dib contacted a friend to tell them Bettahar was refusing to take her back to her car. Police say that fifteen minutes later, he parked behind a house in the 1000 block of Maitland Drive N.E., where Bettahar repeatedly stabbed El-Dib.
El-Dib managed to escape the vehicle, despite her injuries. Bettahar followed and shot her twice with a semi-automatic rifle that police say he purchased legally two weeks before the attack.
Evidence showed El-Dib was on the ground when Bettahar fired the second shot. El-Dib’s body wasn’t found until 9:30 a.m., despite several witnesses reporting hearing gunshots.
Her sister, Racha El-Dib, called Bettahar “a disturbed young man, who believed he had the right to murder her because she exercised her right of taking ownership of her life, body and soul, by saying no to a man who was persistent on being with her.”…

France: Arrest of woman wearing niqab triggers five nights of rioting and millions in damages

Last Sunday, on 15 April, a police patrol in Toulouse arrested a niqab wearing woman because she refused to show her face. In France a law adopted in 2010 states that no one public spaces may wear clothing that hides their face.
The event took place in the city’s migrant populated Mirail suburb and sparked five consecutive nights of violence. Footage shows that the arrested woman is heavily resisting her arrest and she is shouting insults at the cops.
In a matter of minutes, a group of protesters rapidly formed and forced the cops to throw tear gas grenades to disperse the crowd. The woman was placed in custody and will be judged in mid-May for “rebellion, outrage and violence on a custodian person holding public authority”.
Unfortunately, the problems were just the beginning: In the same area, a few hours later, approximatively 100 rioters started to burn cars and containers. A police station in the area was attacked as well.
The cops were called, and a fight broke out between police and rioters. The police had to call the Republican Security Companies, a unit who specialize in crowd and riot control, and a helicopter.
A rioter, who was filming said in the video: “We were worried they weren’t coming (the cops), so we went to the commissariat to see if they’re ok. Apparently yes.” The riots took place from Sunday night to Thursday night.
As of right now, there have been: 23 arrests, 76 burned cars, 200 police mobilised and a 5th night of difficult sleep for the civilised habitants of the district.

Google Senior Engineer Pressured Company To Delete Donald Trump's Google Accounts, Sabotage His Android Phone and Also Shut Down Access for His White House Aids

Sabotage This, Google

From Breitbart:

Alon Altman, a senior software engineer at Google, pressured the company to sabotage President Trump’s Android phone, according to new evidence released via James Damore’s class-action lawsuit against the company.
Calling on the tech giant to use the “full economic force [of] Google for good”, Altman also suggested deleting the gmail accounts of Trump, his administration, and his aides for “abuse.”
Altman – who is still employed by the tech giant – also called on Google to blacklist “alt-right’ sites on the Google ad network (she falsely included Breitbart News in this category — an assertion refuted by a Harvard and M.I.T. study), and take down all “alt right videos” from YouTube. She also called on the tech giant to remove “neo-Nazi sites such as ‘The Daily Stormer’” from the Google search index.

SPLC Pulls Controversial ‘Anti-Muslim Extremist’ List After Legal Threats [VIDEO]

The Southern Poverty Law Center has removed an online list of “anti-Muslim extremists” after British Muslim reformer Maajid Nawaz threatened to sue the SPLC over his inclusion on the list.
The list is the fourth article in two months the SPLC has deleted over accuracy concerns.
The left-wing nonprofit first published the list in November 2016, offering it as a “field guide” to journalists.
In addition to Nawaz, the list included Somali-born activist Ayaan Hirsi Ali, who advocates against female genital mutilation, among other issues. Ali blasted the SPLC’s “deeply offensive smears” in an August 2017 op-ed for The New York Times.

Comey's FIRST Meeting With Trump Was ONLY About The Dossier -- And Only About The Goldern Showers PORTION Of the Dossier

From Ace of Spades:
Byron York: Trump's Demand for "Loyalty" Looks Different Now, Given That His First Meeting With Comey Consisted of Comey Basically Saying "We Have a Document Claiming You Paid Whores to Pee on Each Other and All the Media Wants Us to Help Them Publish It"
Which sounds a lot like blackmail -- something the FBI, especially under the corrupt leadership of J. Edgar Hoover, was very willing to engage in. Why would Trump wonder about the FBI director's loyalty?
Perhaps because in their first meeting, the FBI director dropped the Moscow sex allegation on Trump, followed immediately by its publication in the media.
It seems entirely reasonable for a president to wonder what was going on and whether the FBI director was loyal, not to the president personally, but to the confidentiality that is required in his role as head of the nation's chief investigative agency.
A few more things.
We had known earlier that Comey briefed Trump about the dossier one-on-one on January 6, 2017. But it was not until an interview Thursday with CNN's Jake Tapper that Comey revealed the conversation was only about the Moscow sex allegation. The other parts of the dossier -- about Paul Manafort, Michael Cohen, allegations of collusion -- Comey did not mention to the president-elect.
No wonder Trump associated the dossier with the Moscow sex story. We also know, from the new book Russian Roulette, by Michael Isikoff and David Corn, that immediately after the first Comey meeting, Trump thought the FBI was blackmailing him:
"Trump had seen this sort of thing before," they write. "Certainly, his old mentor Roy Cohn -- the notorious fixer for mobsters and crooked pols -- knew how this worked. So too did Comey's famous predecessor J. Edgar Hoover, who had quietly let it be known to politicians and celebrities that he possessed information that could destroy their careers in a New York minute."
York also points out that journalists are seizing on the idea that Trump seized upon the "golden showers" accusation, as if that means either he was especially concerned about that allegation because it was true or he was only concerned with that allegation because it was the only one that wasn't true -- that Trump was basically shrugging off the Russian Collusion allegations, because he knew, well, it's a fair cop.
Not so, points out York:
Trump focused on the golden showers allegations for the simple reason that Comey, by his own admission, only told him about the golden showers allegations.
He hid from Trump the Manafort, Page, etc. allegations.

Comey Admits on Colbert That FBI Did Not Have Time to Check All of Weiner Emails Before Election (VIDEO)

Drop your most bald-faced admissions on the stupidest show on TV, hoping no one will notice.

The clip is at about the 21:45 mark.

Fuck you, Comey.

On November 6, 2016, two days before the presidential election Comey wrote Congress to say the bureau had reviewed the tens of thousands of emails and concluded the newly discovered emails had not changed his earlier conclusion that Hillary was innocent.
Dear Messrs. Chairmen:
I write to supplement my October 28, 2016 letter that notified you the FBI would be taking additional investigative steps with respect to former Secretary of State Clinton’s use of a personal email server. Since my letter, the FBI investigative team has been working around the clock to process and review a large volume of emails from a device obtained in connection with an unrelated criminal investigation.
During that process, we reviewed all of the communications that were to or from Hillary Clinton while she was Secretary of State. Based on our review, we have not changed our conclusions that we expressed in July with respect to Secretary Clinton. I am very grateful to the professionals at the FBI for doing an extraordinary amount of high-quality work in a short period of time.
Sincerely yours, James B. Comey Director

But this week fired FBI Chief told a different story to Stephen Colbert. Comey told Colbert the FBI DID NOT have enough time to review all of the newly discovered emails on Anthony Weiner’s laptop computer.
James Comey: So the team told me on October 27th, there are hundreds of thousands of emails on Anthony Weiner’s laptop, and there are thousands of emails from the missing Blackberry.net domain. This could change the outcome of the investigation. And so at that point what do you do? ake no action if you can avoid it. And I kept looking for a door that said ‘no action here’ and I couldn’t find it. I could only see two doors and they’re both actions. One says speak the other says conceal. Speaking would be really bad… Hundreds of thousands of emails on Anthony Weiner’s computer. And the FBI team said, “No way boss can we review this before the election.” So what do you do? Speaking would be really bad. Concealing would be catastrophic… It makes me sick to my stomach that we might have had an impact. Obviously, James Comey needs to sit down and have a conversation with himself and get his story straight before he goes on TV and publicly refutes his signed legal documents.

GOP Congressional Leaders Nunes, Gowdy and Goodlatte Release Statement on Comey Memos

From The Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence:
Today House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence Chairman Devin Nunes (R-Ca.), House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.), and House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.) issued the following statement:
“We have long argued former Director Comey’s self-styled memos should be in the public domain, subject to any classification redactions. These memos are significant for both what is in them and what is not. Former Director Comey’s memos show the President made clear he wanted allegations of collusion, coordination, and conspiracy between his campaign and Russia fully investigated.
The memos also made clear the ‘cloud’ President Trump wanted lifted was not the Russian interference in the 2016 election cloud, rather it was the salacious, unsubstantiated allegations related to personal conduct leveled in the dossier.
The memos also show former Director Comey never wrote that he felt obstructed or threatened. While former Director Comey went to great lengths to set dining room scenes, discuss height requirements, describe the multiple times he felt complimented, and myriad other extraneous facts, he never once mentioned the most relevant fact of all, which was whether he felt obstructed in his investigation.
The memos also make certain what has become increasingly clear of late: former Director Comey has at least two different standards in his interactions with others. He chose not to memorialize conversations with President Obama, Attorney General Lynch, Secretary Clinton, Andrew McCabe or others, but he immediately began to memorialize conversations with President Trump.
It is significant former Director Comey made no effort to memorialize conversations with former Attorney General Lynch despite concerns apparently significant enough to warrant his unprecedented appropriation of the charging decision away from her and the Department of Justice in July of 2016.
These memos also lay bare the notion that former Director Comey is not motivated by animus. He was willing to work for someone he deemed morally unsuited for office, capable of lying, requiring of personal loyalty, worthy of impeachment, and sharing the traits of a mob boss.
Former Director Comey was willing to overlook all of the aforementioned characteristics in order to keep his job. In his eyes, the real crime was his own firing. The memos show Comey was blind to biases within the FBI and had terrible judgment with respect to his deputy Andrew McCabe. On multiple occasions he, in his own words, defended the character of McCabe after President Trump questioned McCabe.
Finally, former Director Comey leaked at least one of these memos for the stated purpose of spurring the appointment of Special Counsel, yet he took no steps to spur the appointment of Special Counsel when he had significant concerns about the objectivity of the Department of Justice under Attorney General Loretta Lynch. As we have consistently said, rather than making a criminal case for obstruction or interference with an ongoing investigation, these memos would be Defense Exhibit A should such a charge be made.”

Developing: Obama CIA Chief John Brennan Made Secret Visit to Russia Around Same Time as Fusion GPS Produced anti-Trump Memos

From The Moscow Times:
John Brennan, the director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), made a secret visit to Moscow in March, according to Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Oleg Syromolotov. The visit, he said, had nothing to do with Russia’s decision two weeks ago to begin withdrawing from Syria.
“It’s no secret that Brennan was here,” Syromolotov was quoted by the Interfax news agency as saying Monday. “But he didn’t visit the Foreign Ministry. I know for sure that he met with the Federal Security Service (the successor agency to the Soviet KGB), and someone else.”
It wasn’t clear why Brennan visited Moscow, but the trip appears to have coincided with President Vladimir Putin’s surprise March 14 announcement that Russia’s combat operation in Syria was ending, and Moscow would soon withdraw a portion of its forces from the country after conducting 167 air strikes.
As Gateway Pundit puts it, it seems that Brennan may have gone to Moscow to pick up the dossier from the FSB, and then taken it directly to Fusion GPS.

ON THE OTHER HAND:

President Trump vs. The Foreign Policy Swamp
President Trump's decision to postpone new economic sanctions against Russia on Monday brought some clarity to the foreign policy fight in Washington. The issue isn't whether UN Ambassador Nikki Haley gets confused, as she waspishly denied, but the fact that the president is fighting the swamp single-handed. Here's the Financial Times' snarky Edward Luce in a blast email this morning:
The explanation is simple. Everyone in the Trump administration is really hawkish on Russia. Except the president. On most days the train simply keeps running without him. People such as Haley talk to Jim Mattis, the defence secretary, John Bolton, the national security advisor, Steven Mnuchin, the Treasury secretary, and so on, and agree on what ought to be done.
Under the headline "Trump, a reluctant hawk, has battled his top aides on Russia and lost," The Washington Post reported April 15 that the White House national security bamboozled the president about last month's expulsion of Russian diplomats. Trump was told that he had to expel 60 Russians to match what the Europeans were doing.
The next day, when the expulsions were announced publicly, Trump erupted, officials said. To his shock and dismay, France and Germany were each expelling only four Russian officials — far fewer than the 60 his administration had decided on...Trump insisted that his aides had misled him about the magnitude of the expulsions. “There were curse words,” the official said, “a lot of curse words.”
The incident reflects a tension at the core of the Trump administration’s increasingly hard-nosed stance on Russia: The president instinctually opposes many of the punitive measures pushed by his Cabinet that have crippled his ability to forge a close relationship with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
When the dust settles, I believe, the president will conclude that he was duped into launching last Friday's missile strike on Syria. As Angelo Codevilla, the dean of conservative foreign policy analysts, wrote yesterday at American Greatness, we do not know whether poison gas was used at the Syrian village of Douma or who used it. "The U.S. government’s claim that the Assad regime used chlorine gas and sarin together (that would be a first) against civilians separately from movement of ground troops (military nonsense) may or may not be correct. The government presented no evidence except videos. When it does have evidence, it usually crows."
The whole preposterous allegation that Trump somehow colluded with Russia is designed to sabotage diplomacy between Washington and Moscow. To reiterate my own longstanding view: Russia is a nasty place and Vladimir Putin is a nasty man, of the ilk that always has ruled Russia, a country where nobody talks about Ivan the Reasonable.
On my Ogre-ometer, Putin barely registers a 1.9 against Stalin's 9.8. Russia is NOT our friend and NOT a prospective ally. But we have two choices. One is to attempt to bring Putin down and bring in a government we like, and the other is to strike a deal with Putin that we can live with. The first is delusional, but pervasive in a foreign policy establishment that still believes that we can reshape the world in America's image.

Kurt Schlichter: Never Trumpers' Whining About Principles Was Just An Act

You know all that insufferable babbling and crying about “principles” we had to endure from you Never Trump Konservative Ken Dolls? Your rending of your cheap suits, your 180s over classic GOP policies because The Donald actually tried to enact them, and your mortifying blubbering to suddenly sympathetic hosts on MSNBC and CNN about how awful our President is? With your sad, drawn faces and high-pitched voices, you True Conservatives of Conservatism™, you Keepers of the Flame of Conservativeness resisted the coming of Donald Trump (and those who supported him) because…because…
Because that’s not who we are…
Because we’re better than that…
Because…our principles!
Our principles.
Yeah, right. Well, it was all a crock, a con, a grift by a bunch of displaced Beltway strivers furious that the marks – that’s us Normals – wised up to their scam, played the players, and sent them packing.
Principles?
You laughed uproariously at Sean Hannity’s confidential information being revealed for no good reason, just as you laughed at President Trump when federal agents marched into his lawyer’s office to steal privileged documents as part of the shameful collusion farce you’ve been applauding.
Your principles didn’t stop you from supporting an effort to undo the results of an election that left you out in the cold.
What would the Founders say?
Probably, “Stop trying to hang around with us.”
Where are your principles in the face of the gross injustices of the last few days?
A federal judge who was nearly appointed Bill Clinton’s attorney general and who officiated at Soros’s wedding ordered Hannity’s information disclosed, but that was cool with you. After all, Sean Hannity is so…oh well, I never!
Principles that depend on who is asserting them aren’t principles. They are poses.

Morrissey: London is a Violent Shithole, Its Mayor Can Barely Speak English, and the City Now Has the Highest Rate of Acid Attacks Outside of Bangaledesh

From Ace of Spades:
Morrissey stated that London "is debased" and that "civilisation is over". ... Morrissey, 58, also went on claiming that "we now live in the Age of Atrocity" because of the way authorities have been dealing with acid attacks in London.
Speaking to interviewer John Riggers via his new website Morrissey Central, the singer said: "London is second only to Bangladesh for acid attacks.
"All of the attacks are non-white, and so they cannot be truthfully addressed by the British government or the Met Police or the BBC because of political correctness.
"What this means is that the perpetrator is considered to be as much of a victim as the actual victim."
He said: "As far as racism goes, the modern Loony Left seem to forget that Hitler was Left wing.
"But of course, we are all called racist now, and the word is actually meaningless. "It's just a way of changing the subject. When someone calls you racist, what they are saying is 'hmm, you actually have a point, and I don't know how to answer it, so perhaps if I distract you by calling you a bigot we’ll both forget how enlightened your comment was'."

REPORT: Putin Ready To Make “Deep Concessions”, Kremlin Orders Ease Of Anti-U.S. Rhetoric

From the Singapore Times:
The Kremlin is still coming to grips with the economic impact of the most punitive penalties the US has imposed since first sanctioning Russia four years ago, over the conflict in Ukraine.
The latest measures, which Treasury called payback for Mr Putin’s “malign activity” in general, hit one of the country’s most powerful businessmen, billionaire Oleg Deripaska, the hardest. Shares of Mr Deripaska’s aluminium giant Rusal have plunged about 70 per cent in Hong Kong since the US basically banned the company from the dollar economy on April 6, erasing about US$6 billion (S$7.87 billion) of value and threatening 100,000 jobs at a time when Russia is limping out of its longest recession in two decades.
Mr Putin, who is due to be sworn in for what may be a final six-year term next month, is keen to avoid having another major company suffer a similar fate. It could be too late to reverse the downward spiral that’s taken relations to the lowest level in decades.
While Mr Trump is open to trying to improve ties, Congress and much of his administration are committed to keeping the pressure up on a country many view as America’s No. 1 enemy after allegations of Kremlin meddling in the 2016 elections.

Belt it like it's 1938

An Arab Muslim shares his culture with a Jew in Germany:

Retarded expectations

This would be like inviting cannibals into your home and then disapproving of their meal selections. The immediate problem isn't the Muslims; it's the loathsome political class of the West.

Totally haram!

Russians cast off the gloom from the new Cold War with the West with a record-breaking descent in swimwear. Some 1,525 revellers stripped to bikinis and bathing shorts despite temperatures of only 5C in the spring sunshine of the Siberian resort of Sheregesh.
Skiers and snowboarders marked the end of the winter season by beating their own previous Russian record for the near naked descent.
Feminists and Muslims are triggered!

A poor, oppressed woman:
Horrible. Just horrible.

Those evil Jews, again

The Holocaust was a “lie” made real by Jews who colluded with Adolf Hitler in order to bring “settlers to Palestine,” a Palestinian political analyst has claimed.
This "Holocaust never happened" view is quite normal among Muslims.
Holocaust denial is nothing new, however it is becoming more mainstream in parts of the Middle East and Europe.
What do you mean "becoming mainstream" in the Middle East? It has been mainstream for decades. Jews are the eternal enemies and oppressors of Muslims. Plus, don't you know, the Jooos rule the world!

In this Jews are evil tyrants worldview, it's difficult to explain how millions of them got slaughtered in Europe less than a century ago. The solution is simple: the Jews made up the whole Holocaust fable!

Yes, the Holocaust never happened. The Jews lie about it so that they can immigrate to a ... tiny, oil-free sliver of land in the Middle East. These Jews are so wickedly colonialist that almost all of them gave up their lands and possessions in other Middle Eastern countries. They returned the Sinai! They left the Gaza Strip!

Really, the behavior of Jews is irrelevant. The hatred of their kind is built into Islam. All the Jews can move to the moon and the Muslims will still be blaming them for their self-inflicted social and financial inferiority status.

Unholy disturbance

Chaotic traffic, speakers blasting music, street vendors and thousands of people going about their business are typical on the streets of most of Africa's big cities. But in Ghana, mosques and churches are seen to be compounding the problem of excessive noise.
In the capital Accra, authorities are seeking to deal with the racket caused by these places of worship — and mosques in particular. Mosques are being asked to use mobile text or WhatsApp messages to call the Muslim community to prayer.
The purpose of the Islamic call to prayer is to show dominance in the community. In Saudi Arabia, non-Islamic places of worship are banned. So, one hears the exclusively wicked Islamic cacophony of noise five times a day. Furthermore, stores are required to shut down for roughly 20 minutes for the duration of each prayer. Of course, it's irrelevant whether the owner of the store prays or not.

If the call to prayer was merely a reminder to Muslims, then they would have simple alarms set up on their clocks, watches or phones.

Europeans are learning about this small-scale terror the hard way.

The Challenge of Legacy
How to ensure "never again" when so many are erasing Holocaust history?

Editor's Note: The following is a transcript of Edwin Black’s April 11, 2018 keynote address in the Michigan Capitol Rotunda for that state’s official Holocaust Commemoration.

Today, I come not just to mourn nor to scorn but rather to warn our world, that is, the world of today whose memories are still whistling and bristling with the torments and tribulations of a generation now passing before our eyes. But also, for the world of tomorrow — and the day after — pulsed by a generation whose torments and tribulations may yet be in store. The outrages are audible just over the horizon. But in many cases the horizon is speeding toward us like an unstoppable tsunami preparing to crash.
Many of us dwell in the dark past hoping to immunize our future from the maniacal and ideological fires that immolated six million Jews and so many others— and left a world’s hands and souls smoke-singed in the process. The Holocaust was unique among history’s great cruelties, for it was a 12-year international persecution and murder machine perpetrated in the glare of broad daylight as well as the dim of night… emboldened by its own German Ministry of Propaganda advertising it and amid incessant media coverage that bled across the front pages of newspapers, crackled into regular radio reports, flickered in newsreels, and even saddened the whispers and diaries of children hiding in an Amsterdam attic. The world knew.
With study, revelation, and investigation, many now understand how we got here. Make no mistake. The Germans did it. Their allies and accomplices did it. Hitler did it.
But Hitler had help.
Der Fuhrer adopted the Jew-hating ideology of Henry Ford, whose car company distributorships mass-circulated the Protocols of the Elders of Zion and the Dearborn Independent so often quoted and lionized by Hitler. Nazism was driven by the American pseudoscience of eugenics that called for the elimination and even the chamber gassing of so-called inferior social groups, a murderous medical discipline developed in America by our great universities in the first two decades of the twentieth century, but then transplanted into Nazi Germany and even into Mengele’s Auschwitz laboratory by the million-dollar charitable programs of the Carnegie Institution and the Rockefeller Foundation. Hitler’s troops dismounted their WWI-era horses and stormed into Poland and the rest of Europe in a never-before-seen Blitzkrieg, driving the Blitz truck and flying JU-88 bombers both manufactured under corporate camouflage by General Motors under the direct supervision of its offices in Detroit. And it was up to IBM—the solutions company—to organize all six phases of the Holocaust: identification, exclusion, asset confiscation, ghettoization, deportation, and even extermination. With its advanced punch card technology, IBM knowingly conducted the census to identify the Jews, religious or not, made the railroads run on time, and pinpointed Jewish bank accounts to seize. Every concentration camp had its own IBM customer site. The infamous Auschwitz tattoo began as an IBM number before it morphed into other serial systems.
Profit was the perfidious ally of the perpetrators of the Holocaust because whether it was the Aryanization of the corner grocery store in Berlin or the millions hidden by IBM in cloaked bank accounts in Prague, the malice and the murder was made all the more morally manageable by the tintinnabulation of money. For some, the clatter of the coins could drown out the screams of the victims
So, today we know more about how we came here… but how many truly understand where we really are? Do not believe that the Holocaust is a mere scar from afar. Yes, it is a sickness but one that has re-abrupted like an irrepressible plague. We have seen the infection in Rwanda with the Tutsis, in Syria with the Yazidis and Christians, in Darfur with Black Africans.
We warn, we write poetry, we assemble in Rotundas, publish books, we solemnly chant “never again.” Now, we know better. We silently whisper, not just “never again,” but … “oh, no… not again.”
There is no hate without fear. But hate cannot triumph in a world of enlightenment. So, what is the true challenge to both our legacy and our future. Is it men with Nazi emblems and burning crosses or is it really something else? Flags, white sheets hoods, and venomous marches, we can see. Less visible is the new emerging enemy of enlightenment, and purifying spotlight.
Inscribe their names upon your notepads and your desktops. Facebook, Google, Amazon and many more who in their misguided algorithms decide what shall be seen and what shall be shuttered, who will be heard and who shall be demurred.
The triumph of ignorance with all its well-intended coding rises to a level of censorship only imagined by George Orwell. Last Christmas, Amazon quietly informed publishers that history books about the Holocaust and even the Third Reich could no longer display a swastika on the cover when sold outside North America. So, my book Nazi Nexus about Ford, General Motors, Carnegie, Rockefeller and IBM was re-designed without the swastika for European sale. Many more famous books chronicling the hell of Nazi Germany are now being re-designed without swastikas on the covers for overseas.
A mere photo of a Holocaust history book on Facebook recently was cautioned with a warning tab to be clicked that the topic might be distressing; that book was the recently published Czech language edition of my book IBM and the Holocaust. It is now possible for routine computer programs now in use at Twitter and Facebook to create zombie accounts where the users think they are communicating with the world—but their message in quarantined and no one sees it. Goebbels needed minders sitting in newsrooms. Facebook and Twitter only to click a few keys—and most will never even know they have been muffled.
Now, nations are re-inventing their history. Poland has criminalized the discussion of the involvement and collaboration of its citizen with the Nazi killing machine. The Poles were involved. When a town’s Jews were publicly marched and trucked to the shooting pits, who took their property and auctioned it off the next day in the school yard or town square? Just hours after the new law took effect, the first Polish lawsuit was filed against an Argentinian newspaper that used a war-time photograph.
Lithuania has followed suit quickly with a pending amendment to its “Law on Consumer Protection” that would outlaw books critical of the country during the Holocaust—Lithuania where 90 percent of Jews perished, and many at the hands of their Lithuanian neighbors. These laws will be used by misguided programmers in Silicon Valley to avoid liability by simply quietly shutting out the history.
What if a tree falls and no one hears the sound? What if six million people perish and no one is reminded?
Hitler declared who will remember the Armenians? When my mother was pushed thru the vent in the boxcar en route to Treblinka, her mother said, “tell someone.” My father fought as a partisan in the woods for two years with her to ensure that I would be here to “tell someone.”
What if we tell the world and the world cannot hear us. How sad that we have struggled with Holocaust denial and belief? Might we next struggle with induced collective amnesia? Ask not what you remember. Ask what your children’s children will know.
The new battleground is not in some basement or backyard where hate is brewing. It’s not on the street. It’s in your phone and on your screen where history, anguish, and the rallying cry of “never again” to all humankind will be a muffled echo within an Internet algorithm. We must fight back against the electronic ghetto, the digital ghetto, and the algorithm ghetto. This is the new Challenge of Legacy.

Trump and Caligula

Some time after Trump took on the upper IC’s establishment (the Brennan’s, and Clappers, and by extension the upper reaches of NatSec divisions of the DoJ and FBI), John Schindler (is a security expert and former National Security Agency analyst and counterintelligence officer. A specialist in espionage and terrorism, he’s also been a Navy officer and a War College professor. He’s published four books and is on Twitter at @20committee) mentioned that his sources inside the IC had told him that Trump would end his life in a jail cell. Being innocent I thought this meant that the IC, having crossed his path had information on him right then which would mark him for some kind of treasonous activity ..causing me to wonder why they had not destroyed his candidacy long before the nomination. After all his attitude was obvious.
But of course as we can see now, that’s not what the IC meant at all.
In 41 AD the Praetorian Guard, unhappy with the attitudes and actions of the 29 year old emperor Caligula, assassinated him, his wife and daughter, and then, themselves proclaimed and protected his successor, Claudius. Now Caligula was not a good emperor, and Claudius certainly was, but that solution, in fact, undid any idea of order in the revelation of true power, for in 69 AD, this same Praetorian Guard killed Galba (AND his appointed successors), who had succeeded Nero. There followed a long list of emperors of Rome who were abandoned, assassinated and replaced at the behest, action and influence of the Praetorians.
The inner, upper establishments of the IC, DoJ, FBI, and some in the Senate and House now represent a political class supported by donors of this class, some of the large multinationals, and some institutions of higher learning, which all serve each other by inchoate converging views of stability. A stability which serves them. Thus inequality grows.

Now read this

I don’t know if Trump is the answer to some of our problems. I support his initiatives for border security, ending free trade as we have practiced it, and his attitude that only through growth can we really do something about the debt (the interest on which, $454Bn in 2015, was $60Bn more than all the money spent in the nation on aid to the poor). But there is not that much else about him to support. In fact most else is not likable in the least.
But in my judgment, what the new Praetorian Guard, a  more diffuse, but vastly more highly entrenched version is doing is far more dangerous than anything else facing the nation right now.
We all know people who have wanted to or run for office. We all know people who have reached the top of management. We know their personas to one degree or another. It’s my opinion that every one of these people could be tied up the way Trump is being attacked right now.
One or the other parties here is more evil.

The Stifling Uniformity of Literary Theory

From Quillette:
In 1976, the Nobel-prize winning economist, F.A. Hayek, published The Mirage of Social Justice, the second volume of his magnum opus Law, Legislation and Liberty.1 Despite being widely regarded as the definitive critique of social justice, today one would be lucky to find advocates of social justice in the academy who are familiar with the name ‘Hayek’, let alone those who have read him. Among classical liberals, libertarians, and conservatives alike, Hayek is one of the most important thinkers of the twentieth century whose The Road to Serfdom represents one of the most powerful arguments against socialism ever written.2 But those in the academy who have perpetuated socialist ideas since the 1980s have practically ignored it.
In this article, I will argue that this unwillingness to engage with the ‘other side’ is not only endemic in the radical intellectual schools that have overtaken literary studies, but also that it is symptomatic of their entire way of thinking which, being hermetically sealed and basically circular in its argumentation, has no language to deal with critics beyond reactive moral condemnation.
Many universities and colleges currently advertise literary theory courses which purport to introduce students to a range of different approaches to literary texts. On paper, it looks like as many as ten or fifteen different approaches. The labels proliferate: new historicism, cultural materialism, materialist feminism, ecofeminism, postcolonialism, deconstruction, structuralism, poststructuralism, race theory, gender theory, queer theory, postmodernism … the list might go on.
This extensive list of labels seems to signal genuine range and diversity; however, in terms of their ideas, these approaches are somewhat narrower in scope and focus than one might expect. Virtually every approach listed here lays claim to be ‘radical’, which is to say politically of the left or even hard left – with roots in Marxist theory – hostile to capitalism, the Enlightenment, classical liberalism, liberal humanism, and even to the West itself. Virtually all are also committed to ‘social justice’. It must be noted that, since about 1980, these labels accurately register the genesis of literary studies as a discipline, but what they do not register is that, as they were rising, dissenting voices were systemically hounded out of the academy.
For example, in 1985, Sir Roger Scruton – now famous as a philosopher and public intellectual – wrote a book called Thinkers of the New Left in which he was strongly critical of continental theorists such as Michel Foucault, Jacques Derrida, Louis Althusser, Jacques Lacan, and others.3 In stark contrast to the sometimes-wilful obscurantism of those he critiqued, Scruton wrote in plain prose and expressed ideas with clarity. Perhaps precisely because it laid the ideas bare, the book was greeted with howls of derision, and viciously attacked by scholars who had become disciples of Foucault et al.
The publisher, Longman, was threatened with boycotts and risked being sent to the academic equivalent of the gulag if they did not stop selling the book, going as far as withdrawing copies from bookshops. As far as I can see, one thing that the episode did not produce is an intelligent response to any of the criticisms Scruton raised or, indeed, a single moment of critical self-reflection from any of those who had reacted so angrily. In effect, he was shut down and chased from academia.
GO READ THE WHOLE THING.
