The US economy grew 4.3% in real gross domestic product in Q3 (annualized), the best quarter of growth in the past two years. It exceeds the 3.8% growth in Q2 that had largely been seen as driven by rebalancing of the trade deficit. It's the first BEA analysis of overall economic activity since September, thanks to the Schumer Shutdown:
Real gross domestic product (GDP) increased at an annual rate of 4.3 percent in the third quarter of 2025 (July, August, and September), according to the initial estimate released by the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis.
In the second quarter, real GDP increased 3.8 percent. Due to the recent government shutdown, this initial report for the third quarter of 2025 replaces the release of the advance estimate originally scheduled for October 30 and the second estimate originally scheduled for November 26.
The increase in real GDP in the third quarter reflected increases in consumer spending, exports, and government spending that were partly offset by a decrease in investment. Imports, which are a subtraction in the calculation of GDP, decreased.
Just to clarify: "real GDP" already accounts for inflation. This is growth above the rate of inflation, annualized for comparative purposes. The last six months of economic activity has shown a combined growth of 4.0% or a bit better, which is a fantastic momentum by anyone's reckoning.

If the latest information about Jeffrey Epstein is accurate, the dead financier didn’t just have ties to the CIA. He allegedly brokered gun-running and other illicit deals for the Langley-based intelligence agency and others—first as a junior broker at Wall Street’s Bear Stearns, and later through the disgraced Bank of Credit and Commerce International (BCCI).
While such connections have long been speculated about—most notably in Whitney Webb’s One Nation Under Blackmail, Volumes One and Two—former Trump-era State Department lawyer Mike Benz says this is the first time he has seen evidence that Bear Stearns, which collapsed during the 2008 financial crisis and was later acquired by JPMorgan Chase, was “actively clearing BCCI trades and laundering weapons payments during the very years Epstein worked there.”
The BCCI was a notorious bank that operated as a global, clandestine banking system for international spy agencies. BCCI is reputed to have been involved in "some of the most sensitive intelligence operations of the Reagan-Bush years." The bank was closed in the early 1990s due to its shady connections.
Benz has speculated before that Epstein's ties to intelligence agencies came from his proximity to the Iran-Contra affair, but recent information connects the financier and human trafficker to intelligence agencies before and after the secret — and illegal — deal to sell arms to embargoed Iran and then use the money to help the Contra rebels in Nicaragua. The CIA's Southern Air Transport is also connected.
In a video, which you can see below, Benz goes through recent stories and patterns of associations that he believes link Epstein to the so-called "Safari Club," a consortium of spy agencies and gun runners that included figures such as Adnan Khashoggi Those deals, he believes, would also explain Epstein's vast source of wealth.

The other week, in a New York Times op-ed piece titled “Artificial Intelligence Will Destroy the Way We Think,” an assistant professor of Philosophy at University of California Irvine named Anastasia Berg observed that the current headlong embrace of AI is precipitating a decline in higher-order reasoning. Err, rather, in the very ability to reason.
Unsurprised that her students used AI resources she specifically disallowed to complete a take-home final, Berg shared what might be described as mounting dread with a colleague. Who provided Berg (and us!) with a stark and ominous status update: “Our students are about to turn subcognitive.””
Berg continues: “At stake are not just specialized academic skills or refined habits of mind but also the most basic form of cognitive fluency…..This means they will lack the means to understand the world they live in or navigate it effectively.”
Frightening prospect. Rings true to lived experience. Surpasses even the quaint decades-old Devo notion of de-evolution.
Dismiss this as just more handwringing over AI if you must – as others have noted, there’s a brisk pundit business in shouting about “AI dread.”
Of course, there’s an even more lucrative business generating “AI slop.”
At present, the difference between human endeavor and AI emulation registers most vividly in the arts. You don’t need advanced musicology training to recognize that a sonata or some “Bossa Nova Chill” playlist is an elaborate forgery, served up by a studious bot charged with creating this particular version of slop. Even when the ear is momentarily beguiled, the heart is not: There’s something eerily hollow about these works that’s redolent of the faux-Bach studies offered as lesson material to pianists -- see “Teaching Little Fingers to Play.” (Which was, of course, also about teaching little ears to listen.)

House Passes Bill to Prosecute Doctors and Parents for Sex Changes for Children
The House of Representatives voted on Wednesday evening to pass the Protect Children’s Innocence Act, which will make it a crime for sex-change surgery and hormonal treatments to be provided to minors.
The bill, authored by Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), makes it criminal to “knowingly perform, or attempt to perform, genital or bodily mutilation on another person who is a minor” with penalties of up to ten years in prison. It further protects minors from chemical castration or hormonal treatments.
Parents who facilitate, consent to, or transport the minor to receive sex change surgeries could also be charged.
This codifies President Trump’s January “Protecting Children from Chemical and Surgical Mutilation” Executive Order, which restricts sex-change procedures for minors by cutting federal funding to institutions that practice the satanic procedures.

Sen. Bernie Sanders released a video yesterday calling for a moratorium on the construction of new data centers. His pitch is that AI is being created and promoted by multi-billionaires, who are always the villains in his take on the world. He asks viewers this question: “Do you believe that these guys, these multi-billionaires are staying up nights worrying about what AI and robotics will do to the working families of our country and the world?” Sanders answers his own question, saying, “I think these very rich men want even more wealth and more power and for a whole bunch of reasons that is very dangerous.” Here’s the video:

Regular readers know I’m not a fan of Bernie’s politics. In fact, I detest socialism with a passion and I generally shrug off complaints about the wealthy as the politics of envy.
In this case, I still don’t agree with Sanders but I think he does have a legitimate point. After all, the people he’s quoting in that video, Elon Musk and Bill Gates, aren’t know-nothing outsiders. It’s literally the people who know this field who are warning that it has the potential to replace a lot of workers. That’s not a worst case scenario in their view, it’s the desired outcome of AI reaching a point referred to as artificial general intelligence.

The doors seemed to close everywhere and all at once. In 2011, the year I moved to Los Angeles, white men were 48 percent of lower-level TV writers; by 2024, they accounted for just 11.9 percent. The Atlantic’s editorial staff went from 53 percent male and 89 percent white in 2013 to 36 percent male and 66 percent white in 2024. White men fell from 39 percent of tenure-track positions in the humanities at Harvard in 2014 to 18 percent in 2023.
In retrospect, 2014 was the hinge, the year DEI became institutionalized across American life.
In industry after industry, gatekeepers promised extra consideration to anyone who wasn’t a white man—and then provided just that. “With every announcement of promotions, there was a desire to put extra emphasis on gender [or race],” a former management consultant recalled. “And when you don’t fall into those groups, that message gets louder and louder, and gains more and more emphasis. On the one hand, you want to celebrate people who have been at a disadvantage. On the other hand, you look and you say, wow, the world is not rooting for you—in fact, it’s deliberately rooting against you.”
As the Trump Administration takes a chainsaw to the diversity, equity, and inclusion apparatus, there’s a tendency to portray DEI as a series of well-meaning but ineffectual HR modules. “Undoubtedly, there has been ham-fisted DEI programming that is intrusive or even alienating,” explained Keeanga-Yamahtta Taylor in The New Yorker. “But, for the most part, it is a relatively benign practice meant to increase diversity, while also sending a message that workplaces should be fair and open to everyone.”
This may be how Boomer and Gen-X white men experienced DEI. But for white male millennials, DEI wasn’t a gentle rebalancing—it was a profound shift in how power and prestige were distributed. Yet practically none of the thousands of articles and think-pieces about diversity have considered the issue by cohort.
This isn’t a story about all white men. It’s a story about white male millennials in professional America, about those who stayed, and who (mostly) stayed quiet. The same identity, a decade apart, meant entirely different professional fates. If you were forty in 2014—born in 1974, beginning your career in the late-90s—you were already established. If you were thirty in 2014, you hit the wall.
Because the mandates to diversify didn’t fall on older white men, who in many cases still wield enormous power: They landed on us.

Terror Attack Against Jews At Australian Hanukkah Celebration, At Least 11 Dead
At least 11 people have been killed in a shooting targeting the Jewish community on Australia’s Bondi Beach, police say. The attack took place as hundreds gathered to celebrate the first day of Hanukkah, and has been declared a terrorist incident. The victims include an Israeli citizen, according to the country’s foreign ministry.
• Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese described the attack as “an act of evil, antisemitism, terrorism that has struck the heart of our nation” and said that “an attack on Jewish Australians is an attack on every Australian.” Israeli officials reacted with horror and anger, with several accusing the Australian government of allowing a surge in antisemitism.
• Police also confirmed that there are two known suspects — one is dead while the other is in a life-threatening condition in hospital. Officers have secured and removed explosive devices found in a nearby vehicle.

A wicked judge recently proved that the next step from toxic empathy is pure evil as the third branch of government continues to sabotage the Trump Administration.
The Detroit News reported on Friday that a violent illegal alien from Honduras who sexually assaulted a woman with cerebral palsy in a Michigan laundry room will be released from prison as early as July 2028, less than three years from now thanks to a federal judge appointed by Barack Obama.
The illegal, 30-year-old handyman Edys Renan Membreño Díaz was previously caught sneaking into the U.S. at least seven times since 2019. He pleaded guilty in 2022 to sexually assaulting the woman and was sentenced by Judge Judith Levy in August 2024 to time served. She had the opportunity to serve two more years to his sentence but declined to do so.
But, the U.S. District Judge Judith Levy refused to sentence him to 2 more years for immigration crimes and called this monster a future “ambassador for living up to our immigration restrictions.” This Obama appointed judge went on to praise him for “family devotion and willingness to perform work that it claimed Americans find undesirable.”
