Shocking unearthed video from a 2018 state fraud case shows Minnesota parents dropping their children off at a day care center and then leaving with the kids moments later — as authorities probe a rampant billion-dollar fraud scheme in Minneapolis.
In the surveillance footage, dated 2015 and obtained by Fox 9, parents are seen signing their kids into the facility so providers could bill the state for full days of care for children who didn’t actually attend.
On some days, no families would even show up at all, but the day cares would still claim reimbursements from the government, the outlet reported at the time.
The alleged phony day care centers also gave kickbacks to parents involved.
The clips — which were recorded in 2015 but only came to light in 2018 — resurfaced amid outrage sparked by a viral video from independent journalist Nick Shirley that showed multiple child care centers in Minnesota that had received millions in state funding despite appearing inactive.
US Education Secretary Linda McMahon called the alleged fraud a “breathtaking failure.”

Workers from one of California's largest public-sector unions hit the streets in the new year to collect enough signatures to put a "billionaire's tax" initiative on the ballot in November — just so illegal aliens can keep getting free healthcare.
“Even before we launched this initiative, we knew that having the wealthiest in our society step up to pay their fair share, to help the rest of the folks in California, we had a feeling it was going to be popular,” Renée Saldaña, a spokesperson for Service Employees International Union-United Healthcare Workers West, told The Center Square on Monday. "These frontline health care workers have been chomping at the bit to get out there and start gathering signatures."
The proposed tax is a one-time 5% state wealth tax on all California's billionaires, imposed on "all types of personal property and wealth, including capital stock, bonds, artwork, collectibles and investments," according to that Center Square writeup.
How might that work in practice? Would California's billionaires have to take their art collections with them to dodge the taxman, leaving major museums with empty walls? The tax is supposed to be collected in 2027, but there's no telling how long it might take to work out the legal complications.
On the other hand, it's easy to picture various appraisers rubbing their hands together in gleeful preparation.
How big a hit might tech shares take, as billionaires sell off their most liquid assets to fill Sacramento's gaping maw? Nobody knows.
The initiative would direct 90% of revenues collected to restoring cuts to the state's Medi-Cal program, which Gov. Gavin Newsom and the Democrat-dominated state legislature created because illegals were bankrupting the program.

A Minnesota Democratic state senator apologized to the state’s Somali population following allegations that Somalis were responsible for committing billions in fraud.
Organizer Asad Aliwed put together the event Dec. 12 at the Irshad Islamic Center in Eden Prairie, Minnesota, Eden Prairie Local News reported. Democratic state Sens. Ann Johnson Stewart and Steve Cwodzinski tearfully shared their apology and offered support to a mosque full of Somalians on Friday. The US economy grew 4.3% in real gross domestic product in Q3 (annualized), the best quarter of growth in the past two years. It exceeds the 3.8% growth in Q2 that had largely been seen as driven by rebalancing of the trade deficit. It's the first BEA analysis of overall economic activity since September, thanks to the Schumer Shutdown:
Real gross domestic product (GDP) increased at an annual rate of 4.3 percent in the third quarter of 2025 (July, August, and September), according to the initial estimate released by the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis.
In the second quarter, real GDP increased 3.8 percent. Due to the recent government shutdown, this initial report for the third quarter of 2025 replaces the release of the advance estimate originally scheduled for October 30 and the second estimate originally scheduled for November 26.
The increase in real GDP in the third quarter reflected increases in consumer spending, exports, and government spending that were partly offset by a decrease in investment. Imports, which are a subtraction in the calculation of GDP, decreased.
Just to clarify: "real GDP" already accounts for inflation. This is growth above the rate of inflation, annualized for comparative purposes. The last six months of economic activity has shown a combined growth of 4.0% or a bit better, which is a fantastic momentum by anyone's reckoning.

If the latest information about Jeffrey Epstein is accurate, the dead financier didn’t just have ties to the CIA. He allegedly brokered gun-running and other illicit deals for the Langley-based intelligence agency and others—first as a junior broker at Wall Street’s Bear Stearns, and later through the disgraced Bank of Credit and Commerce International (BCCI).
While such connections have long been speculated about—most notably in Whitney Webb’s One Nation Under Blackmail, Volumes One and Two—former Trump-era State Department lawyer Mike Benz says this is the first time he has seen evidence that Bear Stearns, which collapsed during the 2008 financial crisis and was later acquired by JPMorgan Chase, was “actively clearing BCCI trades and laundering weapons payments during the very years Epstein worked there.”
The BCCI was a notorious bank that operated as a global, clandestine banking system for international spy agencies. BCCI is reputed to have been involved in "some of the most sensitive intelligence operations of the Reagan-Bush years." The bank was closed in the early 1990s due to its shady connections.
Benz has speculated before that Epstein's ties to intelligence agencies came from his proximity to the Iran-Contra affair, but recent information connects the financier and human trafficker to intelligence agencies before and after the secret — and illegal — deal to sell arms to embargoed Iran and then use the money to help the Contra rebels in Nicaragua. The CIA's Southern Air Transport is also connected.
In a video, which you can see below, Benz goes through recent stories and patterns of associations that he believes link Epstein to the so-called "Safari Club," a consortium of spy agencies and gun runners that included figures such as Adnan Khashoggi Those deals, he believes, would also explain Epstein's vast source of wealth.

The other week, in a New York Times op-ed piece titled “Artificial Intelligence Will Destroy the Way We Think,” an assistant professor of Philosophy at University of California Irvine named Anastasia Berg observed that the current headlong embrace of AI is precipitating a decline in higher-order reasoning. Err, rather, in the very ability to reason.
Unsurprised that her students used AI resources she specifically disallowed to complete a take-home final, Berg shared what might be described as mounting dread with a colleague. Who provided Berg (and us!) with a stark and ominous status update: “Our students are about to turn subcognitive.””
Berg continues: “At stake are not just specialized academic skills or refined habits of mind but also the most basic form of cognitive fluency…..This means they will lack the means to understand the world they live in or navigate it effectively.”
Frightening prospect. Rings true to lived experience. Surpasses even the quaint decades-old Devo notion of de-evolution.
Dismiss this as just more handwringing over AI if you must – as others have noted, there’s a brisk pundit business in shouting about “AI dread.”
Of course, there’s an even more lucrative business generating “AI slop.”
At present, the difference between human endeavor and AI emulation registers most vividly in the arts. You don’t need advanced musicology training to recognize that a sonata or some “Bossa Nova Chill” playlist is an elaborate forgery, served up by a studious bot charged with creating this particular version of slop. Even when the ear is momentarily beguiled, the heart is not: There’s something eerily hollow about these works that’s redolent of the faux-Bach studies offered as lesson material to pianists -- see “Teaching Little Fingers to Play.” (Which was, of course, also about teaching little ears to listen.)
